Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Selnica-ob-Dravi, right? This little gem of a town, nestled by the Drava River. It’s like a postcard, but with more cows. Anyway, I’m the head of the lab here, and today was just... wow. First off, I’m running late. Classic me. I spill coffee all over my lab coat. Great start, huh? I’m sprinting down Ulica 1. maja, dodging old ladies and their shopping bags. They move like they own the place. I mean, c’mon, I got a lab to run! Finally, I get to the lab, and guess what? My assistant, Luka, is already there. He’s got this huge grin. I’m like, “What’s up, dude?” He says, “You won’t believe what I found!” I’m thinking, “Please don’t tell me it’s another weird fungus.” But no, it’s a new strain of bacteria. I’m pumped! This could be huge for our research on water purification. But then, bam! The power goes out. Just like that. I’m standing there, in the dark, with a bunch of petri dishes. I’m like, “Great, just great.” I can’t even see my hand in front of my face. I’m cursing under my breath, thinking about how I’ll explain this to the higher-ups. So, I grab my phone, and it’s dead. Of course! I’m stuck in the lab, no power, no phone, and Luka’s just laughing. I swear, if I had a euro for every time something went wrong today, I’d be rich. After what feels like an eternity, the lights flicker back on. I’m relieved, but then I see the mess. Papers everywhere, and the fridge is making this weird noise. I open it, and it smells like something died in there. I’m gagging. Seriously, who left the old pizza in there? Now I’m angry. I’m yelling, “Who’s responsible for this?” But no one’s fessing up. Typical. I decide to take a breather and head outside. Fresh air, right? I stroll down to the Drava River. It’s beautiful, honestly. The sun’s shining, and the water’s sparkling. I take a moment to appreciate it. Then, out of nowhere, I see a bunch of kids playing soccer on the street. They’re having a blast, and I can’t help but smile. It reminds me of my childhood. I used to play on Ulica Kralja Tomislava. Good times, man. But then, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and a car just smashed into a lamppost. I’m like, “What the heck?!” The driver hops out, looking all dazed. I rush over, and it’s this guy I know from the local pub. He’s fine, just a bit shaken. I can’t help but laugh. “Dude, you okay? Maybe lay off the rakija next time!” After that, I head back to the lab. I’m ready to tackle the day again. We finally get our experiments going, and I’m feeling good. But then, I get a call from the city council. They want to discuss our funding. My heart sinks. I know they’re gonna cut us. I’m pacing around the lab, trying to think of a way to save our project. I can’t let this happen! I’m thinking about all the hard work we’ve put in. I mean, we’re on the brink of something big here! Finally, I decide to take a stand. I call a meeting with the team. We brainstorm ideas, and I’m feeling the energy. We come up with a plan to present our findings. I’m pumped again! By the end of the day, I’m exhausted but happy. Selnica-ob-Dravi has its quirks, but it’s home. I love this place, even with its crazy moments. I head to my favorite café on Ulica 2. junija for a well-deserved slice of cake. As I sit there, I can’t help but think—what a wild ride today was. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Here’s to more days like this, Selnica!
