Man, what a day! Seriously, Trbovlje (si) is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring day, but boy, was I wrong. First off, I hit the streets of Trbovlje around 9 AM. The sun was shining, and I was like, “Let’s do this!” I strolled down Cesta 1. maja, feeling all pumped. But then, bam! A pigeon poops on my shoulder. Like, really? Thanks, bird. Just what I needed. So, I’m walking, trying to shake off the bird bomb, and I see this cute café on Ulica Marjana. I’m like, “Coffee time!” I order a cappuccino, and the barista, this super chill dude, spills half of it on the counter. I’m thinking, “Dude, you had one job!” But he just laughs it off. I mean, I guess it’s funny? After that, I decided to check out the old coal mine. It’s a big deal here, right? I’m wandering around, and it’s kinda eerie. The place has this vibe, like ghosts of miners past are watching me. I swear I heard whispers. Or maybe it was just my imagination. Who knows? Then, I bumped into this local guy, Marko. He’s all about the history of Trbovlje. He starts telling me about the Zasavje region and how it used to be a coal hub. I’m nodding, but inside I’m like, “Can we get to the good stuff?” He finally mentions the Trbovlje chimney. That thing is HUGE! I mean, it’s like the Eiffel Tower of chimneys. I had to snap a pic. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I’m talking torrential downpour. I duck into a shop on Ulica Koroška, and it’s packed. Everyone’s crammed in there, looking like wet cats. I’m trying to stay dry, but I’m also laughing at the chaos. People are slipping, and it’s like a scene from a comedy movie. Finally, the rain stops, and I’m soaked but happy. I decide to hit up the Trbovlje Cultural Center. They had this art exhibit going on. Some of the pieces were wild! Like, what even is that? I mean, I appreciate art, but some of it looked like my toddler could’ve done better. But hey, who am I to judge? As I’m leaving, I run into this group of locals. They’re super friendly and invite me to join their game of “kegljanje” (bowling). I’m like, “Why not?” So, we head to the local bowling alley. I’m terrible, but they’re cheering me on like I’m a pro. It’s hilarious! By the end of the day, I’m exhausted but buzzing. Trbovlje has this energy, you know? It’s quirky, it’s fun, and it’s full of surprises. I mean, who knew a small town could pack so much into one day? I finally head back to my place, and I’m just thinking about how crazy today was. From pigeon poop to bowling with locals, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Trbovlje, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
