Man, what a day! I swear, being a vet in Verzej is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll into the clinic on Ulica 1. maja, coffee in hand, ready to tackle whatever comes my way. Spoiler alert: it was a LOT. First off, I get a call about a dog named Max. Poor dude got into some trash. Classic, right? I mean, who hasn’t? But this wasn’t just any trash. It was the leftovers from that new burger joint on Ulica Trg svobode. You know, the one that’s always packed? Yeah, Max decided to go full-on dumpster diver. I get there, and this pup is looking at me like, “Help, I’m dying!” But really, he just had a bad case of the munchies. I’m trying to keep it together, but I’m also laughing. Like, dude, you had one job! Anyway, I get him sorted out, and he’s back to wagging his tail. Happy ending, right? But then, just as I’m about to breathe, I get a call about a cat stuck in a tree. Seriously? It’s like a scene from a cheesy movie. So, I rush over to Ulica Kranjčevičeva. This cat, Bella, is up there, looking down at me like I’m the biggest idiot ever. I’m like, “C’mon, Bella! You’re a cat! Climb down!” But no, she’s just chilling. I’m sweating bullets, thinking about how I’m gonna explain this to her owner. “Uh, yeah, your cat is now a tree dweller.” Finally, I manage to coax her down with some treats. I’m feeling like a hero, right? But then, I step in something squishy. Yup, dog poop. Thanks, Verzej! Just what I needed. I’m hopping around like a madman, trying to clean my shoe on the grass by the park on Ulica 8. septembra. After that, I think, “Okay, it can’t get worse.” But oh, it does. I get a call about a parrot that’s gone rogue. This bird, named Polly, is flying around some café on Ulica Šolska. I get there, and it’s chaos. People are ducking, coffee is spilling, and Polly is just squawking like she owns the place. I’m trying to catch her, but she’s too quick. I’m flapping my arms like a lunatic, and everyone’s staring. I’m like, “Yeah, this is my life now.” Finally, I manage to grab her with a towel. The crowd goes wild! I’m feeling like a rockstar, but then I realize I’ve lost my coffee. Great. Just great. By the time I get back to the clinic, I’m exhausted. I sit down, and my phone buzzes. It’s a message from my buddy, asking if I wanna hit up that new bar on Ulica 2. julija. I’m like, “Dude, I just saved a dog, a cat, and a parrot. I need a drink!” So, I head out, and the night is young. I’m sitting there, sipping on a cold one, and I can’t help but laugh. Verzej, you crazy little city, you never fail to surprise me. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. And that’s a day in the life of a vet in Verzej. Full of chaos, laughter, and a whole lot of love for these furry (and feathered) friends. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
