Wow, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Zagorje-ob-Savi, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had a morning gig at this community center on Trg svobode. You know, the one with the weird statue? Yeah, that one. I’m there, ready to translate for this group of deaf kids. They’re awesome, full of energy, and I’m pumped. But then, bam! The projector doesn’t work. Like, seriously? It’s 2023! I’m sweating bullets, trying to fix it. Kids are looking at me like I’m some kind of tech wizard. Spoiler: I’m not. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I get it working. The kids cheer, and I’m like, “Yesss!” But then, the teacher starts talking about some boring history stuff. I mean, who cares about the old mines in the area? I’m just trying to keep these kids engaged. So, I start throwing in some funny signs, like pretending to mine for gold. They loved it! Laughter everywhere. I’m a hero for a moment. After that, I head down to Ulica 1. maja for lunch. I’m starving! I grab a burger at this little joint called “Zagorski Okusi.” Best burger ever! Juicy, cheesy, and the fries? Don’t even get me started. But then, I spill ketchup all over my shirt. Classic me, right? I’m sitting there, trying to clean it up, and this old lady walks by. She looks at me, shakes her head, and mutters something in Slovenian. I just smile and nod. Next, I have to rush to a meeting at the library on Ulica Franca Prešerna. I’m late, of course. I sprint down the street, dodging people like I’m in some kind of obstacle course. I finally get there, panting like a dog. The meeting is about improving accessibility for the deaf community. Super important stuff, but the vibe is so serious. I’m trying to lighten it up, cracking jokes, but no one’s laughing. Awkward! Then, out of nowhere, this guy starts talking about how he thinks sign language is “just gestures.” I’m like, “Excuse me?!” My blood is boiling. I mean, come on! I’m ready to give him a piece of my mind, but I take a deep breath. Instead, I explain how rich and beautiful sign language is. I think I even saw a few light bulbs go off in people’s heads. Score one for me! After the meeting, I’m feeling all pumped up. I decide to take a stroll by the Sava River. It’s so pretty there, with the trees and the water. I sit on a bench, just soaking it all in. But then, I see this kid trying to fish. He’s got a stick and a string. No bait. I’m like, “Dude, you’re not gonna catch anything!” He looks at me, dead serious, and says, “I’m fishing for dreams.” I can’t even. I laugh so hard, I almost fall off the bench. As the sun starts to set, I head back home. I’m exhausted but happy. I think about all the crazy stuff that happened today. I love my job, even when it’s wild. Zagorje-ob-Savi, you never fail to surprise me! So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but mostly ups. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
