Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a mechanic in Taichung is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I roll into work at this little garage on Zhongming South Road, right? It’s a chill spot, but today? Nah, not chill at all. First off, I’m sippin’ my coffee, just tryin’ to wake up. Then boom! This dude pulls in, his car makin’ sounds like a cat in a blender. I’m like, “What the heck did you do to this thing?” Turns out, he’s been driving it around like it’s a race car. I mean, c’mon, bro, it’s a Toyota, not a Ferrari! So, I pop the hood, and it’s a mess. I’m talkin’ wires everywhere, oil leaks, the whole shebang. I’m tryin’ to fix it, but I’m also thinkin’ about lunch. I’m starvin’! I can smell the stinky tofu from the street vendors on Wuquan West Road. Man, that stuff is both gross and amazing at the same time. While I’m elbow-deep in grease, my buddy Chen rolls in. He’s got this huge grin, and I’m like, “What’s up, man?” He just got a new bike. A sweet ride, too! But then he tells me he crashed it on Taiwan Boulevard. I’m like, “Dude, you gotta be more careful!” But inside, I’m laughin’. Classic Chen. After I finally fix the dude’s car, he’s all grateful and stuff. I’m like, “Yeah, just don’t drive like a maniac next time.” He leaves, and I’m feelin’ good. But then, outta nowhere, this lady storms in. She’s fuming, and I’m thinkin’, “Oh boy, here we go.” Her car? It’s a total wreck. She’s yellin’ about how it just stopped on the way to Fengjia Night Market. I’m like, “Lady, did you even check the oil?” But I can’t say that, ya know? So, I just nod and pretend to care. I get to work on her car, and it’s a nightmare. I’m sweatin’ bullets, and the clock’s tickin’. I’m thinkin’ about all the food I’m missin’ out on at the market. I can almost taste the bubble tea and fried chicken. Ugh! Finally, I get her car sorted out. She’s all smiles, and I’m like, “Great, now I can eat!” But then, she hands me a tip. A freakin’ tip! I’m shocked. I mean, who tips a mechanic? I’m feelin’ like a rockstar for a sec. But then, just when I think it’s over, my boss walks in. He’s got that look, ya know? The “we need to talk” look. Turns out, we’re short-staffed for the weekend. I’m like, “No way, man! I got plans!” But he’s like, “You’re the only one who can handle this.” Ugh, fine! So, I’m stuck workin’ the weekend. But then, I remember the food stalls on Yizhong Street. I can still hit those up after work! I’m thinkin’ about the grilled squid and the sweet potato balls. Mmm! As the day wraps up, I’m exhausted but happy. Taichung’s wild, man. From the crazy drivers to the food, it’s a whole vibe. I hop on my scooter, zoomin’ through the streets, feelin’ the breeze. I can’t wait to hit up the night market. I’m ready for some stinky tofu and bubble tea. Bring it on, Taichung! You crazy, but I love ya!
