Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I’m a biochemist, right? But today, I felt more like a circus performer in Derhachi. Yeah, that little town just outside Kharkiv. You know, the one with the crazy mix of old Soviet vibes and new stuff popping up everywhere. So, I wake up late. Classic me. Alarm? Nah, who needs that? I rush outta my apartment on Komsomolska Street, barely grabbing my lab coat. I mean, who needs breakfast when you’ve got caffeine, right? I swing by the local café on Shevchenka Street. The barista knows me. She’s like, “Hey, you want your usual?” I’m like, “Duh, gimme that double espresso!” I’m chugging my coffee, and boom! My phone buzzes. It’s my lab partner, Oleg. He’s freaking out. “Dude, the samples! They’re all messed up!” I’m like, “What do you mean messed up?” Turns out, some genius left the samples out overnight. I mean, come on! Who does that? So, I sprint to the lab on Haharina Street. I’m dodging potholes like I’m in some kind of obstacle course. Derhachi streets are a mess, but hey, it builds character, right? I finally get to the lab, and Oleg’s there, looking like he’s seen a ghost. “We gotta fix this!” he says. We start scrambling, mixing stuff like mad scientists. I’m pouring solutions, and Oleg’s measuring stuff. It’s chaos, but I kinda love it. Adrenaline’s pumping. Then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off! Seriously? In the middle of our biochem crisis? We bolt outta the lab, and I’m thinking, “Great, just great.” We’re standing outside, and I see my neighbor, an old lady from down the street. She’s just chillin’ with her cat, like nothing’s happening. I’m like, “Lady, there’s a fire alarm!” She just shrugs. Classic Derhachi. After the fire drill (which was a false alarm, of course), we get back to work. Finally, we manage to salvage the samples. I’m sweating bullets, but we did it! I’m feeling like a rockstar. Then, Oleg pulls out a bottle of champagne. “We gotta celebrate!” he says. I’m like, “Dude, it’s 3 PM!” But hey, who am I to say no? We pop the bottle right there in the lab. I mean, it’s not like anyone’s watching, right? We’re toasting to our “success” when suddenly, the lab supervisor walks in. She’s not amused. “What’s going on here?” I’m like, “Uh, science?” She rolls her eyes and walks out. Phew! After that, I decide I need some fresh air. I stroll down to the park near the Derhachi river. It’s beautiful there, especially in the fall. The leaves are all orange and red. I sit on a bench, sipping the last of my champagne. Life’s good, ya know? But then, I see this kid flying a kite. It’s all tangled up, and he’s getting frustrated. I can’t help it. I walk over and help him out. “You gotta let it go, buddy!” I say. He looks at me like I’m a wizard or something. We get the kite flying, and he’s grinning ear to ear. That made my day, honestly. As I’m heading back home, I can’t shake the feeling of how wild today was. From lab disasters to kites and champagne, Derhachi really knows how to keep things interesting. I get home, plop on my couch, and just laugh. What a ride! So yeah, that was my day. Just another Tuesday in Derhachi, I guess. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
