Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I wake up in Dobropillia, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local café on Shevchenka Street. You know, the one with the weirdly awesome coffee? I order my usual – a double espresso, extra shot, because I need that jolt. The barista, bless her soul, spills half of it. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed!” But she’s super apologetic, gives me a free pastry. Sweet, right? But I’m still half-caffeinated and half-annoyed. Then, I’m walking down the street, and I see this mural on the side of a building. It’s HUGE! Like, bigger than my apartment. It’s got all these vibrant colors, and I’m just standing there, mouth agape. I snap a pic for the ‘gram, obviously. Gotta show off my city’s art scene, ya know? But then, outta nowhere, this kid on a bike zooms past and nearly takes me out. I’m like, “Dude, chill! It’s not a race!” So, I keep walking, trying to shake off the caffeine jitters. I head over to the park near the railway station. It’s a nice spot, but today it’s packed. Families, kids, dogs – you name it. I find a bench, plop down, and just breathe. But then, this group of teenagers starts blasting music. Like, come on! I’m trying to enjoy nature here! I mean, I love a good beat, but not at 100 decibels, right? After that, I decide to check out the local art gallery on Haharina Street. It’s small but has some killer pieces. I’m wandering around, and I see this painting that just hits me. It’s all dark and moody, but there’s this tiny splash of red. I’m staring at it, and suddenly I’m feeling all the feels. Like, why am I so emotional today? I’m an art director, not a poet! Then, I bump into my buddy, Sasha. He’s like, “Hey, you look like you’ve seen a ghost!” I tell him about the mural, the coffee spill, the music. He laughs and says, “Welcome to Dobropillia, my friend!” We decide to grab some lunch at this little spot on Kostiantynivska Street. The food is bomb, but the service? Not so much. We wait forever! I’m about to lose it, but then the waiter brings us complimentary drinks. Okay, fine, I forgive you, dude. After lunch, we stroll around, and I spot this old lady selling flowers. Her smile is contagious. I buy a bunch of sunflowers because, why not? They’re bright and happy, just like me – or at least I try to be. As the day winds down, I’m walking back home, and I can’t help but think about how wild this city is. Dobropillia has its quirks, for sure. The streets are a mix of old and new, and the people? They’re a whole vibe. I love it here, even when it drives me nuts. Finally, I get home, and I’m exhausted but happy. I plop down on my couch, sunflowers in hand, and just laugh. What a day! I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Dobropillia, you crazy little gem, you’ve got my heart.
