Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a librarian in Hlevakha, right? Yeah, that little gem of a town just outside Kyiv. You know, the one with the cozy streets and that weird statue of a cat on the corner of Shevchenka and Komsomolska? Yeah, that one. So, I roll into work, coffee in hand, ready to tackle the day. But nope! The universe had other plans. First off, the library’s heating system? Totally busted. I mean, c’mon! It’s freezing outside! I’m standing there in my sweater, shivering like a chihuahua. Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs in. I swear, he’s like a tornado. He’s yelling about how he lost his favorite book. I’m like, “Dude, chill! What book?” Turns out, it’s some ancient tome about dragons or whatever. I’m thinking, “Great, just what I need. A dragon hunt in Hlevakha.” So, I’m searching the shelves, right? I’m climbing ladders, digging through dusty boxes. I’m sweating now, and it’s not just the heat. I’m getting angrier by the second. Why do kids always lose their stuff? Like, how hard is it to keep track of a book? Finally, I find it! It was hiding behind a stack of old encyclopedias. I hand it to him, and he looks at me like I just handed him a million bucks. Kid runs out, and I’m left standing there like, “What just happened?” Then, I get a call from my boss. She’s like, “Hey, we’re having a surprise event today!” Surprise? Really? I’m not ready for surprises! Turns out, it’s some local author signing books. Cool, right? But I’m still in my librarian sweats. Ugh! So, I rush to clean up. I’m running down Hlevakha’s streets, dodging puddles and stray cats. I swear, I almost tripped over that same cat statue. It’s like it’s out to get me. I finally get back, and the place is packed. People everywhere! I’m talking about the whole town showing up. I’m trying to keep it together, but my heart’s racing. I’m not a social butterfly, more like a social caterpillar. The author shows up, and he’s this big deal. Everyone’s fawning over him. I’m just trying to keep the coffee flowing and the snacks stocked. But then, this lady comes up to me. She’s like, “Where’s the bathroom?” I’m like, “Lady, I’m not your personal GPS!” But I show her anyway. I mean, I can’t be rude, right? So, I’m standing there, waiting for her to come back, and I overhear some folks talking about the old Hlevakha train station. Apparently, it’s haunted or something. I’m like, “Great, now I have to add ghost stories to my library collection.” Finally, the signing wraps up, and I’m exhausted. But then, the author comes over and thanks me. He’s like, “You did a great job.” I’m blushing like a tomato. I mean, me? A hero? Nah, just a librarian trying to survive the day. As I’m cleaning up, I can’t help but laugh. What a wild ride! Hlevakha, you never cease to amaze me. From dragon hunts to surprise events, you keep me on my toes. I love this town, even if it drives me nuts sometimes. So, I head home, thinking about all the craziness. I pass by the park on my way, and there’s a group of kids playing. They’re laughing, running around, and I can’t help but smile. Yeah, Hlevakha, you’re a quirky little place, but you’ve got heart. And that’s my day. Just another rollercoaster in the life of a librarian. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
