Man, what a day! I’m still reeling from all the craziness in Hlobyne. Seriously, I thought I was just gonna chill and do some fish stuff, but nope! Not in this town. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping. I’m like, “Today’s gonna be a good day.” I grab my coffee from that little café on Shevchenka Street. You know the one? The one with the weirdly awesome fish mural? Yeah, that place. I’m sippin’ my brew, feeling all philosophical about fish and life. Then, boom! My phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, Vasyl. He’s like, “Dude, you gotta come to the river!” I’m thinking, “What’s the rush?” But, you know, I’m an ichthyologist. Fish waits for no one! So, I hop on my bike and pedal down to the Dnipro. The ride is nice, but then I hit a pothole on Haharina Street. Ugh! My coffee nearly spills everywhere. I’m cursing like a sailor. “Who’s in charge of these roads?” I mean, come on! It’s like they’re trying to sabotage my caffeine fix. Finally, I get to the river. And wow, it’s packed! Families, kids, dogs—everyone’s out enjoying the sun. But Vasyl’s not there. I’m like, “Great, I came all this way for nothing.” But then I see him, waving like a madman. He’s standing by the water, and I swear, he’s holding the biggest fish I’ve ever seen! I’m talking about a catfish that could swallow a small child. I’m like, “Dude, where’d you catch that?” He just grins, all smug. “Right here, man! You gotta try!” So, I’m thinking, “Okay, let’s see what this is about.” We start fishing, and I’m having a blast. The sun’s shining, the fish are biting, and I’m feeling like a king. But then, outta nowhere, this old lady comes up. She’s got this tiny dog that looks like it’s seen better days. She starts yelling at us about how we’re scaring the fish away. I’m like, “Lady, chill! We’re not even close to the fish!” But she’s relentless. “You young people don’t respect nature!” I’m rolling my eyes, trying to keep my cool. I mean, I respect fish more than most people! After that, we decide to take a break. We grab some street food from a vendor on the corner of Haharina and Shevchenka. Best decision ever! I’m munching on these amazing fried fish bites, and I’m thinking, “This is life.” But then, just as I’m about to take a bite, I see a group of kids running. They’re playing tag or something, and one of them trips and falls right into the river! I’m like, “Oh no!” But the kid pops up, laughing like it’s the best day ever. I can’t help but laugh too. Kids are wild, man. As the day goes on, we catch a few more fish, and I’m feeling pretty accomplished. But then, the sky starts to change. Dark clouds roll in, and I’m like, “Seriously? Not now!” We pack up, but the rain hits us like a ton of bricks. I’m soaked, my gear’s soaked, and I’m just standing there, laughing at the absurdity of it all. By the time I get back home, I’m exhausted but happy. I plop down on my couch, still dripping wet, and think about the day. It was chaotic, funny, and a little frustrating, but that’s Hlobyne for ya. It’s a wild ride, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, here I am, writing this all down, still buzzing from the day. Who knew fish could lead to such an adventure? I guess that’s just life in this quirky little town. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
