Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a watchmaker in Kalynivka is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit up the local café on Shevchenka Street. Best coffee in town, no cap. I order my usual – a double espresso, strong enough to wake the dead. While I’m waiting, I overhear this old dude talking about the weather. Like, bro, it’s Ukraine, it’s either cold or hot. What’s there to discuss? Anyway, I grab my coffee and spill half of it on my shirt. Great start, right? So, I head to my shop on Haharina Street. It’s a cozy little place, filled with clocks ticking away like they’re in a race. I love it. But today? Ugh. I get a call from a customer. “Hey, my watch is broken!” Like, duh, that’s why I’m here! I tell him to bring it in. He shows up an hour later, and guess what? He’s got a watch that looks like it survived a war. I mean, c’mon! How do you even break a watch like that? I’m trying to fix it, right? And then, bam! The power goes out. Just my luck! I’m sitting there in the dark, surrounded by ticking clocks, feeling like I’m in a horror movie. I’m like, “Great, now I’m a watchmaker in a haunted house.” Finally, the lights flicker back on. I fix the dude’s watch, but he’s like, “Can you make it gold?” I’m like, “Dude, this thing’s barely hanging on!” But whatever, I’m a people pleaser. I tell him I’ll see what I can do. After that, I decide to take a break. I stroll down to the park near the river. It’s a nice spot, you know? Kids are playing, couples are holding hands, and I’m just there, sipping on a soda. Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs past me, chasing a dog. The dog? It’s got a stick bigger than it is! I’m laughing so hard, I almost spill my soda again. But then, I see this guy on the other side of the park. He’s yelling at his girlfriend. Like, dude, chill! It’s just a date! I’m thinking, “Man, if you can’t handle a date, how you gonna handle a marriage?” Anyway, I head back to the shop, and guess what? The same dude with the broken watch is back. He’s like, “Can you fix my grandfather’s clock?” I’m like, “Sure, bring it in.” He shows up with this massive, ancient clock. It’s beautiful but heavy as hell. I’m sweating just lifting it. I spend hours on that thing. It’s like a puzzle, and I’m determined to solve it. Finally, I get it ticking again. The dude’s face lights up like it’s Christmas. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. But then, just as I’m about to close up, my buddy calls. “Hey, you wanna grab a drink?” I’m like, “Sure, why not?” We hit up this bar on Lvivska Street. It’s packed, but we find a spot. I order a beer, and we start talking about life, love, and all that jazz. Then, outta nowhere, this band starts playing. They’re actually pretty good! I’m vibing, and suddenly, I’m on the dance floor, busting moves like I’m in a music video. I’m not even a good dancer, but who cares? The night ends with me stumbling home, feeling like a million bucks. Kalynivka, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. I’m exhausted, but I wouldn’t trade this day for anything. Just another wild ride in the life of a watchmaker.
