Man, what a day! I swear, Tulchyn really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had to rush to the market on Shevchenka Street. You know, the one with all the fresh produce? Yeah, that place. I’m dodging babushkas like they’re ninjas. Seriously, they’re like, “Get outta my way, youngin’!” I’m just trying to grab some apples for my lunch. But nooo, they’re all about their cabbage and beets. Anyway, I finally get my apples and head to the community center. I’m interpreting for this event about local history. Sounds boring, right? But it’s actually kinda cool. The speaker starts talking about Tulchyn’s history, and I’m like, “Whoa, I didn’t know we had a castle!” Yeah, a castle! It’s called the Tulchyn Castle, and it’s like, super old. I mean, who doesn’t love a good castle story? But then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. Like, seriously? In the middle of a presentation? I’m standing there, trying to sign in the dark. It’s like interpretive dance but with more confusion. People are whispering, “What’s happening?” I’m like, “I dunno, maybe the ghosts of Tulchyn are mad?” Finally, the lights flicker back on, and I’m sweating bullets. I’m trying to keep it together, but my brain’s like, “What if they think you’re a terrible interpreter?” Ugh, the pressure! But then, this cute kid in the front row raises his hand and asks about the castle. I’m like, “YES! A distraction!” So I dive into this whole thing about the castle’s legends. Kids love that stuff, right? After the event, I’m feeling pretty good. I mean, I survived! But then I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. Like, seriously? I didn’t bring an umbrella. So, I’m sprinting down the street, trying to avoid puddles. I’m soaked, and I’m laughing at myself. “Great job, genius!” I duck into a café on Hrushevskoho Street. It’s cozy, and the smell of coffee is heavenly. I order a cappuccino, and the barista, this super chill dude, gives me a free pastry. I’m like, “Dude, you’re a lifesaver!” We start chatting about Tulchyn, and he tells me about this hidden park near the river. I’ve lived here forever, and I’ve never heard of it! So, I finish my coffee and decide to check it out. I’m wandering through the park, and it’s beautiful. There are these old trees, and the river is sparkling. I’m just soaking it all in, feeling grateful. Then, I see a couple having a picnic. They’re laughing, and I’m like, “Aww, love is in the air!” But then, I notice a squirrel stealing their food. I’m cracking up, and the couple sees me laughing. They start laughing too, and it turns into this whole thing. We’re all just standing there, laughing at this squirrel. It’s like a scene from a movie or something. As the sun starts to set, I’m walking back home, and I can’t help but think about how wild today was. From the market madness to the castle stories, and the rain, and the squirrel! Tulchyn, you crazy little city, you never fail to surprise me. I get home, throw my wet clothes in the corner, and plop on the couch. I’m exhausted but happy. I love my job, even on the crazy days. Here’s to more adventures in Tulchyn!
