Man, what a day! I swear, Volodymyr-Volynskyi is a wild ride. I’m just a sailor, right? But today? Today was somethin’ else. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’ through my window. I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Not even close. I hit the streets, and first thing I notice is the smell of fresh bread from that bakery on Soborna Street. You know the one? Best stuff ever. I grab a loaf, thinking I’m gonna have a nice breakfast. But nah, life had other plans. I’m walkin’ down the street, mindin’ my own biz, when I see this old dude, like, totally losing it. He’s yellin’ at some pigeons. Pigeons! I mean, c’mon, man. They ain’t doin’ nothin’ to you! I laugh a bit, but then he spots me. “You think it’s funny?” he shouts. I’m like, “Uh, no, sir!” But inside, I’m crackin’ up. Then I head over to the park by the St. George’s Cathedral. Beautiful place, right? But today, it’s packed. Kids runnin’ everywhere, parents tryin’ to keep up. I sit on a bench, just chillin’, when this kid runs by and spills his ice cream all over my shoes. Great. Just great. I’m like, “Hey, buddy! Watch it!” But he just giggles and runs off. Kids these days, man. After that, I decide to hit up the local market on Kovalivka Street. You can find anything there. Fresh veggies, fish, you name it. I’m lookin’ for some good fish to grill later. I spot this guy sellin’ the biggest carp I’ve ever seen. I’m talkin’ monster size. I’m like, “How much for that beast?” He says, “For you? Special price!” I’m thinkin’, “Yeah, right.” But I buy it anyway. Can’t resist a good deal, ya know? Then, outta nowhere, it starts rainin’. Like, seriously? I just got my fish! I duck into a café on the corner of Kovalivka and Shevchenka. It’s cozy, smells like coffee and pastries. I order a cup, and the barista is super chill. We start talkin’ about the weather, and I’m like, “Dude, it’s Ukraine. What do you expect?” We both laugh, and I feel a bit better. But then, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy from the ship. He’s like, “Dude, we’re leavin’ soon!” I’m like, “What? I just got here!” Panic sets in. I chug my coffee, grab my fish, and bolt outta there. Rain’s comin’ down hard now. I’m sprintin’ down the street, dodgin’ puddles like I’m in some kinda obstacle course. Finally, I make it to the docks. I’m soaked, fish in hand, and my crew’s laughin’ at me. “Look at the drowned rat!” they shout. I’m like, “Shut up! You try runnin’ in this!” But deep down, I’m laughin’ too. As we set sail, I look back at Volodymyr-Volynskyi. The city’s beautiful, even in the rain. The old buildings, the streets I just ran through, all of it. It’s home, ya know? I might be a sailor, but this place? It’s got my heart. So yeah, that was my day. Full of chaos, laughter, and a giant fish. Can’t wait to tell the guys back on the ship. Volodymyr-Volynskyi, you crazy, but I love ya!
