Man, what a day! I woke up in Alloa, and I swear, I thought it was just gonna be another boring Tuesday. But nah, life had other plans. First off, I’m a Mourner, right? So, my job is to, well, mourn. Sounds grim, but it’s kinda cathartic, ya know? Anyway, I roll outta bed, grab a cuppa from the wee café on Mill Street. Best bacon sarnies in town, I tell ya! So, I’m munchin’ away, and suddenly, I hear this commotion outside. I peek out, and there’s a bunch of folks gathered near the Alloa Town Hall. Turns out, some local band is playin’ a surprise gig. I mean, who knew? I’m not a huge music fan, but the vibe was infectious. I’m boppin’ my head, and for a sec, I forget about my job. Just me, the tunes, and the crowd. But then, bam! My phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “Get to the cemetery, stat!” Ugh, typical. Just when I was havin’ a good time. So, I dash down the High Street, dodging folks like I’m in some kinda video game. I swear, if I trip over a cobblestone, I’m gonna lose it. I finally get to the cemetery on Claremont Road, and it’s a right mess. The wind’s howlin’, and the sky’s lookin’ moody. Perfect for a funeral, right? I’m tryin’ to keep it together, but the whole scene is just... intense. I mean, I’m here to mourn, but the weather’s like, “Nah, let’s make this dramatic!” So, I’m standin’ there, and the family’s all teary-eyed. I’m feelin’ for ‘em, I really am. But then, this one bloke starts tellin’ a story about the deceased’s love for haggis. Haggis! At a funeral! I can’t help but chuckle. Like, mate, read the room! But then again, it’s Alloa, and we do love our haggis. After the service, I’m walkin’ back, and I spot this old lady on the corner of Stirling Street. She’s tryin’ to cross, but the traffic’s a nightmare. I rush over, help her out, and she’s like, “Bless you, dear!” I’m thinkin’, “Nah, just tryin’ to avoid a lawsuit!” Then, I head to the park near the Alloa Leisure Bowl. I need a breather. I plop down on a bench, and this wee dog runs up to me. It’s all waggin’ its tail, and I’m like, “Aww, mate, you’re the highlight of my day!” I start petting it, and the owner comes over, all apologetic. “Sorry, he’s a bit of a nuisance.” I’m like, “Nah, he’s a legend!” But then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. I mean, come on! I just wanted five minutes of peace! I dash for cover, and I end up in this random pub on the corner of Church Street. It’s cozy, and the smell of chips hits me like a wave. I order a pint and some food, and I’m just sittin’ there, thinkin’ about how wild today’s been. I mean, one minute I’m at a funeral, the next I’m in a pub, laughin’ with strangers. Alloa’s got this weird charm, ya know? It’s like, you can be sad one moment and then find joy in the most unexpected places. As I’m leavin’, I bump into an old mate from school. We start catchin’ up, and it’s like no time’s passed. We’re laughin’ about the good ol’ days, and I’m thinkin’, “This is what life’s about.” So, yeah, today was a rollercoaster. From mournin’ to music, to rain and reunions. Alloa, you’ve got my heart. Even if you’re a bit mad sometimes. I’m off to bed now, but I’ll be dreamin’ of haggis and wee dogs. What a day!
