Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I woke up in Bathgate, right? You know, that wee town in West Lothian, Scotland. It’s got its charm, but today? Pffft, it was a rollercoaster. First off, I’m strolling down the High Street, just minding my own biz, when I spot this old guy feeding pigeons. Like, c’mon mate, it’s 2023! Who even does that? But then, I see a wee kid run up and try to grab a pigeon. Hilarious! The bird flaps off, and the kid’s face? Priceless! I’m laughing, and the old guy’s giving me the stink eye. Chill, dude! It’s just a bird! Then, I hit up the Bathgate Regal Theatre. I’m a game designer, right? So, I’m always looking for inspiration. They had this indie film festival on. I thought, “Why not?” I mean, I love a good flick. But the first film? Ugh, it was like watching paint dry. Seriously, I could’ve made a better game in my sleep. After that snooze-fest, I needed a pick-me-up. So, I dashed over to the Coffee Corner on George Street. Best flat whites in town, no cap! I order one, and the barista, this cool lass, spills half of it. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed!” But she’s super apologetic and gives me a free muffin. Score! Feeling a bit better, I head to Bathgate Park. It’s a nice spot, loads of green, and the kids are playing footie. I’m watching, and suddenly, this ball comes flying at me. I duck, but it hits my bag. I’m like, “Seriously?!” But the wee lad who kicked it runs over, all sheepish, and says sorry. I can’t stay mad. Kids are too cute. Then, I decide to take a walk down to the old railway station. It’s a bit of a ghost town, but there’s something eerie and cool about it. I start imagining a game set here, like a mystery or something. I’m deep in thought when I hear this loud honking. I look up, and it’s a bunch of geese! They’re just waddling across the road like they own the place. I’m cracking up. Who knew geese could be so bold? Next, I’m wandering down to the local shops. I pop into a charity shop on South Bridge Street. You never know what you’ll find, right? I’m rummaging through the racks when I spot this old board game. It’s like a vintage treasure! I’m thinking, “This could be a game night classic!” But then, I realize it’s missing half the pieces. Typical! By now, I’m feeling a bit peckish again. I swing by the Fish & Chip shop on the Main Street. The smell? Oh man, it’s heavenly! I order a portion, and while I’m waiting, I chat with the owner. He’s a proper character, telling me stories about Bathgate back in the day. I’m laughing so hard, I almost forget my food. Finally, I grab my chips and head to the park again. I sit on a bench, munching away, and just take it all in. The sun’s setting, and Bathgate looks stunning. I’m feeling grateful, you know? Life’s a bit mad, but moments like this? They make it all worth it. As I’m finishing up, I see the old guy from earlier again. He’s still feeding those pigeons! I can’t help but chuckle. Some things never change, eh? So, that was my day in Bathgate. Full of ups and downs, laughs and surprises. Just another day in this quirky wee town. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
