Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a guide in Beccles is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First stop, I’m at the Beccles Quay. Beautiful spot, right by the River Waveney. I’m all set to show off the boats and the lovely views. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my bacon sarnie! Like, seriously?! I’m standing there, mouth agape, while this feathered thief flies off with my breakfast. I mean, who does that? Seagulls in Beccles are like little flying bandits. Anyway, I shake it off. I’m a pro, right? So, I gather my group. We stroll down the lovely Ballygate. It’s got that quaint vibe, you know? Old buildings, cute shops. I’m trying to give my spiel about the history of Beccles, but half my group is more interested in their phones than my riveting tales. Ugh! Then, we hit the Beccles Market. It’s buzzing! Fresh produce, local crafts, and the smell of street food wafting through the air. I’m hyped! I grab a cheeky sausage roll from this stall. Best decision ever! But then, I see this kid, maybe 10 years old, trying to haggle with the vendor. “I’ll give ya two quid for that!” I’m like, “Mate, it’s three!” The vendor’s just laughing, and I’m dying inside. Kids these days, right? After the market, we head to St. Michael’s Church. It’s stunning! The tower’s all tall and proud, and I’m trying to impress my group with some fun facts. But then, I notice this couple in the back, totally making out. Like, c’mon, guys! We’re in a church! I’m trying to be all educational, and they’re just there, lost in their own world. I mean, love is great and all, but not during my tour, please! Next, we wander down to the lovely Beccles Common. It’s a big ol’ green space, perfect for a picnic or just chilling. I’m feeling good, right? But then, I trip over a tree root. Classic me! I go down like a sack of potatoes. My group bursts out laughing. I’m laughing too, but inside, I’m like, “Great, now I’m the clown of Beccles.” But then, something amazing happens! A local dog, this big fluffy golden retriever, comes over and starts licking my face. I’m like, “Okay, this is the highlight of my day!” Everyone’s snapping pics, and I’m just there, covered in dog slobber, feeling like a celebrity. As the day winds down, we stroll along the River Waveney again. The sunset is gorgeous, painting the sky in pinks and oranges. I’m feeling all sentimental, ya know? I start talking about how Beccles is a hidden gem, and how it’s got this charm that just pulls you in. But then, I see a group of teenagers throwing stuff into the river. I’m like, “Oi! What are you doing?!” They just laugh and keep going. I’m fuming! Like, respect the place, guys! Finally, we wrap up the tour. I’m exhausted but happy. I’ve had my ups and downs, but that’s what makes it fun, right? I wave goodbye to my group, and as I walk back through the streets of Beccles, I can’t help but smile. It’s a quirky little town, full of surprises. And even with the chaos, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day in Beccles. Full of laughs, a bit of drama, and a whole lotta love for this place. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
