Man, what a day! Seriously, Brough, you’ve outdone yourself. I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day, ya know? But nah, Brough had other plans. So, I’m rollin’ outta bed, still half-asleep, and I’m like, “Let’s grab a cuppa.” I hit up the local café on Skillings Lane. Best brews in town, no cap. I order my usual, a flat white, and the barista, bless her, spills it all over the counter. I’m like, “Great start, mate!” But she laughs it off, and I can’t help but chuckle too. After that, I decide to stroll down to the Humber Bridge. It’s a bit of a trek, but the views are worth it. I mean, who doesn’t love a good bridge, right? I’m walking down Main Street, dodging the usual crowd of school kids and dog walkers. Brough’s got this vibe, ya know? A mix of chill and chaos. Then, outta nowhere, I see this old dude trying to cross the road at the roundabout by the Co-op. He’s moving like a sloth on a Sunday. I’m like, “C’mon, mate, you can do it!” But he just stands there, looking confused. I’m about to go help him when a cyclist zooms past, nearly takes him out. I’m like, “What’s wrong with people?” Finally, I get to the bridge. The wind’s blowing, and I’m feeling all poetic. I whip out my sketchbook, ready to capture the moment. But then, this seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich right outta my hand! I’m standing there, mouth agape, like, “Did that just happen?” I mean, who knew seagulls were so bold in Brough? After that, I’m feeling a bit defeated, but I push on. I head over to the Brough Heritage Centre. It’s small but packed with cool stuff about the town’s history. I’m geeking out over the old photos when I overhear this couple arguing. They’re going on about the best fish and chips in town. I’m like, “Guys, it’s gotta be the Codfather on Station Road!” But they’re too busy bickering to notice me. I leave the centre, feeling a bit lighter. I decide to hit up the park on Welton Road. It’s a nice spot to chill and sketch. I plop down on a bench, and just as I’m getting into it, a bunch of kids run by, playing tag. One of ‘em trips and falls right in front of me. I’m like, “Oof, that’s gotta hurt!” But he just gets up, brushes himself off, and keeps running. Kids are tough, man. As the sun starts to set, I’m feeling all kinds of emotions. Happy, sad, confused. Brough’s got this way of making you feel everything at once. I’m walking back home, and I pass by the old church on Church Street. It’s all lit up, looking majestic. I stop for a sec, just taking it all in. Then, I get this wild idea. I’m gonna animate today’s chaos! I rush home, throw my stuff down, and start sketching like a madman. The seagull, the old dude, the kids – it’s all going in. I’m laughing, I’m crying, I’m living my best life. By the time I’m done, it’s late, and I’m exhausted. But man, what a day! Brough, you crazy little town, you’ve given me a story to tell. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
