Wow, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a babysitter, right? And today, I was minding the kiddos in Clevedon. You know, that cute little seaside town in Somerset? Yeah, that one. So, I roll up to the house on Hill Road, ready to tackle the day. The sun’s shining, and I’m thinking, “This is gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, the kids, oh man. They were bouncing off the walls. I mean, I get it, it’s Clevedon, and the beach is just down the road. But seriously, can we not? I’m trying to keep it together here! We start with some arts and crafts, right? I set up shop in the living room, and before I know it, there’s glitter everywhere. Like, I’m talking a full-on glitter explosion. I’m gonna be finding that stuff for weeks. Then, outta nowhere, the youngest, little Tommy, decides he wants to paint his face. I’m like, “Sure, why not?” But then he goes full-on Picasso and ends up looking like a rainbow threw up on him. I can’t even. I’m laughing so hard, I almost drop the paintbrush. After the art fiasco, we head out to the beach. Clevedon’s got this lovely pier, right? It’s all Victorian and stuff. I’m thinking, “This is gonna be a nice stroll.” But nooo, the kids have other plans. They sprint ahead, and I’m left chasing them down the promenade. I swear, I’ve never run so fast in my life. And then, BAM! Outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, proper British rain. I’m soaked, the kids are soaked, and I’m just standing there, drenched, thinking, “This is NOT in the babysitting handbook.” But the kids? They’re loving it. Jumping in puddles, squealing like they just won the lottery. I can’t help but smile, even though I’m freezing. So, we duck into a café on The Beach, right? I’m hoping for a hot chocolate, but the line is a mile long. I’m like, “C’mon, people! It’s just a cuppa!” Finally, I get my drink, and it’s like heaven in a mug. But then, of course, Tommy spills his juice all over the table. Classic. After the café chaos, we decide to head back. But wait! We spot a bunch of seagulls. And you know how seagulls are, right? They’re like the bullies of the bird world. So, the kids start chasing them, and I’m just standing there, shaking my head. “What are you doing? They’ll steal your chips!” And guess what? One of the seagulls swoops down and snatches a chip right outta Tommy’s hand. I’m dying. The look on his face was priceless. I’m like, “Welcome to Clevedon, mate. The seagulls are ruthless.” Finally, we make it back home, and I’m exhausted. I plop down on the couch, and the kids are still buzzing. They start telling me about their “epic” day, and I’m just nodding along, thinking, “Yeah, epic is one way to put it.” As I’m leaving, the parents come home, and I’m like, “You owe me big time.” They laugh, and I’m just grateful I survived the day. Clevedon, you’ve got my heart, but wow, what a rollercoaster! So, yeah, that was my day. Full of glitter, rain, and seagulls. Can’t wait to do it all again!
