Man, what a day! I swear, Dorking really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I woke up, right? Sun shining, birds chirping, thought it was gonna be chill. But nah, life had other plans. First off, I’m a document specialist, which sounds fancy but really just means I deal with papers all day. Boring, I know. But today? Today was a whole different story. I was on my way to the office on South Street, and I’m just minding my own business when I see this massive traffic jam. Like, come on! It’s Dorking, not London! I’m stuck there, fuming, thinking about how I’m gonna be late. I mean, I can’t be late! My boss is a total stickler for time. So, I hop outta the car and start walking. I’m strutting down the High Street, dodging people like I’m in some sort of obstacle course. Then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and there’s this guy on a bike who just wiped out. I mean, he went down hard! I couldn’t help but laugh. Sorry, dude, but it was hilarious. He gets up, brushes himself off, and yells, “I’m fine!” Yeah, right. You’re not fine, mate. Anyway, I finally make it to the office, and guess what? My computer’s acting up. Classic! I’m trying to sort out these documents for a client on West Street, and my screen freezes. I’m like, “Really? Today of all days?” I’m sweating bullets, thinking I’m gonna get fired. But then, my mate from the next cubicle, Sarah, comes over. She’s got this massive coffee in her hand, and she’s like, “You good?” I’m like, “No, I’m not good! My life is falling apart!” She just laughs and hands me the coffee. Bless her. So, I take a sip, and it’s like magic. Suddenly, I’m feeling a bit better. We start chatting about the weekend plans. I mention the Dorking Beer Festival coming up. I mean, who doesn’t love a good pint, right? She’s all in, and we start making plans. But then, just as I’m getting into it, my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “Need those documents ASAP!” Ugh, the stress! I’m like, “Yeah, yeah, I’m on it!” But inside, I’m screaming. I finally get the documents sorted, and I’m feeling like a champ. I send them off, and just as I’m about to celebrate, the fire alarm goes off. Seriously? In Dorking? I grab my stuff and head outside with everyone else. We’re all standing there, waiting for the fire brigade. I’m chatting with some random guy, and he’s telling me about the best fish and chips on Dorking’s West Street. I’m like, “Dude, I need that in my life!” After what feels like forever, they give us the all-clear. I head back in, and my boss is waiting. “You’re late!” I’m like, “Yeah, well, there was a fire drill!” He just rolls his eyes. Classic. Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted but happy. I grab a quick bite at this little café on South Street. The vibe is chill, and I’m just soaking it all in. Dorking’s got this charm, you know? The old buildings, the little shops, it’s all so cozy. As I’m walking home, I can’t help but smile. Sure, it was a crazy day, but it was mine. Dorking, you wild little town, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
