Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it all. So, I woke up in my flat on Church Street, right? The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had a meeting at the Eccles Town Hall. You know, the big ol’ building on the corner of the High Street? Yeah, that one. I’m there, all ready to talk about community events, and guess what? The fire alarm goes off! Like, really? In the middle of my pitch? I’m standing there, trying to keep my cool, but inside I’m like, “This is a disaster!” Everyone’s rushing out, and I’m just trying to gather my notes. Classic me, right? So, we finally get outside, and I’m chatting with some locals. There’s this old bloke, right? He’s telling me about the time he saw a UFO over the Eccles Cemetery. I’m like, “Mate, you sure it wasn’t just a drone?” But he’s dead serious. I mean, who doesn’t love a good alien story? 😂 After the chaos, I head over to the Eccles Shopping Centre. I needed a coffee, like, ASAP. I swing by Costa, and the barista, bless her, spills my drink all over the counter. I’m just standing there, watching my caffeine dreams drown in a puddle. I’m fuming, but then she gives me a free pastry to make up for it. I mean, who can stay mad when there’s a chocolate croissant involved? Not me! Then, I decided to take a stroll down the canal. The views are stunning, especially around the Bridgewater Canal. I’m walking, minding my own business, when I see a bunch of kids playing footy. They’re having a blast, and I’m just standing there, reminiscing about my own childhood. I used to play on the streets of Eccles, like on Liverpool Road. Good times, man. But then, one of the kids kicks the ball too hard, and it lands right in the canal! I’m like, “Oh no, not again!” 😂 I couldn’t help but laugh, though. The kids were all scrambling, trying to fish it out. It was chaos, but the kind that warms your heart, you know? Just pure joy and laughter. I snapped a pic for the ‘Gram. Gotta keep the community vibes alive! Later, I had to head to the Eccles Community Centre for a planning meeting. I’m thinking, “This is gonna be boring.” But no! We ended up discussing a new festival. Like, a proper festival! Food stalls, live music, the works. I was pumped! I mean, Eccles needs more of that good stuff. We’ve got the history, the people, and now we’re gonna have a festival? Yes, please! But then, outta nowhere, someone brings up the idea of a “silent disco.” I’m like, “What even is that?” Apparently, everyone wears headphones and dances to their own beat. I’m not sure if I’m sold on that. I mean, can you imagine? Just a bunch of people grooving in silence. It’s hilarious but also kinda cool. I’m in! By the time I got home, I was knackered. My feet were killing me, and my head was spinning with ideas. I plopped down on my couch, thinking about the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. From fire alarms to UFOs, to kids and footy, to planning a festival. Eccles, you never cease to amaze me! So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in the heart of Eccles. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
