Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I woke up in my flat on West Blackhall Street, right? The sun was shining, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I decided to hit up the Greenock Esplanade. You know, that lovely stretch by the water? I thought I’d get some inspiration for my next game. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna design a game set in a seaside town, right? But as I’m walking, I see this seagull. And not just any seagull. This dude was like the king of the birds. He swoops down, and I’m like, “No way, man!” But he snatches my sandwich right outta my hand! I’m standing there, mouth agape, while this feathered thief flies off. I mean, c’mon! Who does that? So, I’m fuming, right? I decide to walk it off. I head down to Cathcart Street, thinking maybe a coffee will help. I pop into this little café called The Coffee Pot. It’s cozy, and the barista is this cool dude named Jamie. I order a flat white, and he’s like, “You look like you need a double shot.” I laugh, but inside, I’m like, “You have no idea, mate.” While I’m waiting, I overhear this couple arguing. They’re going at it about something ridiculous—like who left the milk out. I mean, really? Milk? I’m just sitting there, sipping my coffee, thinking, “Man, I’m glad I’m single.” But then, I feel a bit bad for them. Love is weird, innit? After my caffeine fix, I decide to stroll down to the waterfront again. I’m walking along the Clyde, and it’s beautiful. The water’s sparkling, and I can see the hills in the distance. But then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, proper Scottish rain. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m laughing at this point, like, “Of course, it rains in Greenock!” I duck into a shop on Dalrymple Street to escape the downpour. It’s a wee thrift store, and I start browsing. I find this old board game, and it’s missing half the pieces. I’m like, “Perfect! Just like my life!” I buy it anyway, because why not? Then, I get a text from my mate, asking if I wanna hit up the pub later. I’m like, “Absolutely!” I need a pint after this madness. So, I head over to the Beacon Arts Centre. It’s a cool spot, right on the water. I grab a seat outside, and the rain’s finally stopped. I order a pint of lager, and as I’m sipping, I see this group of kids playing football on the grass. They’re having a blast, and I can’t help but smile. It reminds me of my childhood, running around with my mates, not a care in the world. But then, I see one of the kids trip and fall. He starts crying, and I’m like, “Oh no, not the tears!” But then, his mates rush over, and they’re all laughing and helping him up. It’s like a scene from a movie, and I’m just sitting there, grinning like an idiot. As the sun starts to set, I’m feeling all sorts of emotions. Happy, nostalgic, a bit angry at that seagull, but mostly just grateful. Greenock’s got this vibe, you know? It’s quirky, it’s real, and it’s full of surprises. I finish my pint and head home, thinking about how I can turn today’s chaos into a game. Maybe a seagull thief? Or a rainy adventure? Who knows? But one thing’s for sure: today was anything but ordinary. And I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
