Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I wake up in Maesteg, right? The sun’s barely up, and I’m already thinking about my promo gig. I’m a promoter, but today felt like a rollercoaster. First off, I grab a coffee from that little café on Talbot Street. You know the one? The one with the dodgy Wi-Fi and the best scones ever. I’m chugging my coffee, and boom! My phone buzzes. It’s my boss, like, “Get to the park, we need to set up!” Ugh, classic. So, I dash down Commercial Street, dodging the morning crowd. Maesteg’s got this vibe, ya know? Old buildings, new shops, and the smell of fresh bread from the bakery. I love it. But today? Today was a whole different story. I get to the park, and it’s chaos. Like, what even? There’s a bouncy castle, a face painter, and a guy dressed as a giant banana. I’m not kidding. A banana! I’m thinking, “Is this a promo event or a circus?” But hey, I roll with it. I start setting up the banners, right? And then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Typical Welsh weather! I’m soaked, and my banners are flapping like they’re about to take off. I’m yelling at my mate Dave, “Hold that down, will ya?” He’s just laughing, the git. Finally, the rain stops. Thank goodness! The sun peeks out, and I’m feeling good again. People start showing up, and I’m handing out flyers like a madman. “Free stuff! Come get it!” I’m practically shouting. Then, I spot this kid on the bouncy castle. He’s having the time of his life, right? But then, he trips and face-plants. Ouch! I’m like, “Oh no, not the kid!” But he pops up, grinning like a Cheshire cat. Kids are tough, man. As the day goes on, I meet some cool folks. There’s this old lady, Mrs. Jenkins, who tells me stories about Maesteg back in the day. She’s got this twinkle in her eye, and I’m hanging on every word. “You know, we used to have dances at the old cinema on Llynfi Road,” she says. I’m thinking, “Wow, I’d love to see that!” But then, my phone buzzes again. It’s my boss, “Where’s the social media update?” I’m like, “Seriously? I’m in the middle of a circus!” But I pull out my phone, snap a pic of the banana guy, and post it. “Maesteg’s got talent!” I caption it. And just when I think it can’t get crazier, the fire alarm goes off. In the park! People are running everywhere. I’m standing there, like, “What now?” Turns out, it was just a false alarm. Phew! But my heart’s racing. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted but happy. I’ve met so many people, and the vibe in Maesteg is just electric. I pack up my stuff, and as I’m walking back down Commercial Street, I can’t help but smile. Maesteg, you wild little town, you’ve done it again. I love the chaos, the people, the stories. Can’t wait for the next promo gig. Just hope it’s not raining!
