Man, what a day! Seriously, Milton Keynes, you’ve got me all over the place. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring day as a Visiting Prof. But nah, not in this city. First off, I’m staying near the Centre:MK. It’s this massive shopping center, right? I thought I’d grab a coffee at Costa before my lecture. But guess what? The line was longer than the M1 on a Friday! I mean, c’mon, people! It’s just coffee! I was ready to throw my hands up and walk out. But I needed that caffeine fix. So, I waited. And waited. Finally got my flat white, and it was like liquid gold. Then, I headed to my lecture at the Open University. The campus is pretty cool, not gonna lie. Lots of green spaces, and the architecture is all modern and stuff. But here’s the kicker: I got lost. Like, seriously lost. I ended up on Woughton on the Green. I thought I was in Narnia or something. I mean, who names a place Woughton? Sounds like a sneeze! Anyway, I finally made it to the lecture hall, and guess what? Only three students showed up. THREE! I was like, “Did I miss the memo? Is it a holiday or something?” But hey, we had a good chat. They were super chill, and we ended up talking about everything from the best chippies in town to the weirdest places to visit. One of them mentioned the MK Dons, and I was like, “Oh, the football team, right?” They laughed and said, “Nah, mate, it’s all about the MK Lightning!” After the lecture, I was feeling pretty good. I decided to stroll down to Campbell Park. It’s this massive green space, and the views are stunning. I mean, you can see the whole city from up there. I was just soaking it all in when suddenly, it started pouring! Like, outta nowhere! I was drenched in seconds. I thought, “Great, just great. This is how I wanted to spend my afternoon.” So, I ducked into a pub on Midsummer Boulevard. The place was packed, and I squeezed in for a pint. I ordered a local ale, and it was surprisingly good! I started chatting with some locals, and they were hilarious. One guy was telling me about the time he tried to swim in the Grand Union Canal. I was like, “Dude, that’s not a swimming pool!” But he was all, “It’s all good until you hit the ducks!” After a few laughs, I decided to head back. But guess what? I took a wrong turn again! Ended up on Silbury Boulevard. I swear, this city is like a maze. I was just wandering around, thinking about how I’d probably end up in a reality show called “Lost in Milton Keynes.” Finally, I found my way back to my hotel. I was exhausted but happy. I plopped down on the bed and thought about the day. It was chaotic, but in a good way. Milton Keynes, you’ve got your quirks, but I kinda love ya. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of rain. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
