Man, what a day! Seriously, Montrose, you’ve got me all kinds of twisted. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m strolling down the High Street, just vibin’. I’m thinking about grabbing a coffee at that cute little café, The Coffee Pot. You know, the one with the weirdly awesome scones? But nah, I’m not even halfway there when I trip over some random cobblestone. Like, who put that there? I’m pretty sure it was just waiting to ambush me. I’m all “Oof!” and people are staring. Great start, right? Anyway, I finally make it to The Coffee Pot. I order my usual – a flat white, extra hot. I’m standing there, waiting, and this guy walks in. He’s got a dog that looks like it just rolled outta bed. I mean, it’s all scruffy and stuff. But then, the dog starts barking at me! Like, chill, dude! I’m not here to steal your owner. I’m just trying to get my caffeine fix! So, I get my coffee, and I’m feeling a bit better. I decide to take a walk along the seafront. Montrose is beautiful, man. The beach, the dunes, the whole vibe. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring! I’m talking full-on monsoon. I’m sprinting down the Esplanade, dodging puddles like I’m in some weird obstacle course. I’m soaked, my hair’s a mess, and I’m laughing like a lunatic. I duck into a shop on Bridge Street to escape the rain. It’s a little vintage place, full of knick-knacks and old books. I’m browsing, and I find this old map of Montrose. It’s got all these cool spots marked. I’m like, “Whoa, I didn’t even know this place existed!” I’m totally geeking out. But then, I hear this loud crash. Turns out, some dude knocked over a shelf. Books everywhere! I’m trying to help, but I’m also laughing. It’s just too ridiculous. After the rain calms down, I head to the Montrose Basin. The view is stunning! I’m standing there, just soaking it all in. Then, I see a bunch of birds. I think they’re ospreys? I’m not a bird expert, but they look majestic. I whip out my phone to snap a pic, and guess what? My battery dies! Classic! I’m like, “Really, phone? You couldn’t hold on for five more minutes?” Feeling a bit defeated, I decide to grab some grub. I hit up The Park Hotel. Their fish and chips are legendary! I sit down, and the waiter’s super friendly. He’s cracking jokes, and I’m just enjoying the vibe. But then, my food takes forever! I’m starving, and I’m watching other people get served. I’m about to lose it. But when it finally arrives, oh man, it’s worth the wait. Crispy, golden, and the tartar sauce? Chef’s kiss! After that, I’m feeling good again. I wander over to the Montrose Museum. It’s small but packed with history. I’m reading about the local shipbuilding and the old railway. It’s fascinating! But then, I overhear this couple arguing. They’re going on about something ridiculous, and I can’t help but chuckle. Like, c’mon, you’re in a museum! As the day winds down, I’m walking back to my car, and I can’t help but think about how wild today was. From tripping on cobblestones to dodging rain, to finding that map, and the epic fish and chips – it was a rollercoaster. Montrose, you’ve got character! I’m exhausted but happy. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
