Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a glazier in Neston is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First job was on Parkgate Road. Nice little bungalow, old lady needed a new window. Easy peasy, I thought. But when I got there, she’s all frazzled. “My cat’s stuck in the attic!” she yells. I’m like, “Lady, I’m here to fix glass, not rescue cats!” But you know how it is. I can’t just ignore a cat in distress. So, I’m climbing up this rickety ladder, heart racing, thinking, “If I fall, I’m gonna be the glazier who got taken out by a cat.” Finally, I find the little furball. It’s just chillin’ on a beam, lookin’ at me like, “What’s the fuss?” I grab it, and it scratches me! Ouch! I’m bleeding, and the old lady’s like, “Oh, thank you!” I’m thinkin’, “Yeah, thanks for the cat scratch fever, lady.” After that, I head over to the High Street. Gotta fix a shop window for that trendy café, you know the one? The one with the overpriced lattes and hipster vibes. I’m there, measuring up, when this bloke walks by and spills his coffee all over my tools. I’m like, “Seriously, mate? You couldn’t aim better?” But then, I see the café owner, Sarah. She’s a right laugh. She comes out, hands me a free coffee. “On the house for the trouble!” she says. I’m like, “You’re a gem, Sarah!” So, I’m sippin’ my coffee, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Neston’s got its moments, ya know? Next, I’m off to the other side of town, near the Neston Park. Beautiful spot, but the traffic is a nightmare. I’m stuck behind this old banger that’s chugging along like it’s from the Stone Age. I’m honking, waving my hands, like, “C’mon, move it!” Finally, I get past, and it’s just some old fella, grinning at me. I can’t help but laugh. “You do you, mate!” So, I get to this house on Mill Lane. The family’s having a BBQ, and the smell is divine. I’m there, working away, and they keep offering me burgers. I’m like, “I can’t eat, I’m on the clock!” But man, those burgers looked so good. I swear, I almost dropped a pane of glass just to grab one. Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I mean, it’s like the heavens opened up. I’m soaked, trying to cover the glass with my jacket. The family’s laughing, and I’m just standing there, drenched, thinking, “This is my life.” Finally, I wrap up the day. I’m heading back home, and I pass by the Neston train station. It’s bustling, people everywhere. I see a mate of mine, Dave, and we start chatting. He’s telling me about this new pub that opened up on the corner of Liverpool Road. “You gotta check it out, mate! Best pints in town!” I’m like, “Yeah, after today, I need a pint!” So, we head over, and it’s packed. I’m finally relaxing, laughing about the cat, the coffee spill, and the BBQ burgers I didn’t eat. As I sit there, I think about Neston. It’s quirky, it’s mad, but it’s home. From the old streets to the new shops, it’s got character. And yeah, some days are a total mess, but that’s what makes it fun, right? So, here’s to another wild day in Neston. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
