Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I’m a guide in North Walsham, right? And today was just... wow. Like, you think you know a place, but then it throws you a curveball. First off, I woke up late. Classic me. Alarm didn’t go off. I’m sprinting down the street, dodging pigeons on Market Street. Those little buggers are everywhere! I swear they have a secret meeting spot or something. Anyway, I finally get to the meeting point at the North Walsham War Memorial. It’s a nice spot, but I’m sweating like a sinner in church. So, I’m there, and my group shows up. A bunch of lovely folks, but one guy, I swear, he looked like he just rolled outta bed. I mean, come on, mate! We’re in North Walsham, not a sleepover! But whatever, I’m here to show them the sights, right? We start off at the St. Nicholas Church. It’s stunning, like, proper old-school vibes. I’m telling them about the history, and this guy interrupts me. “Is it haunted?” he asks. I mean, c’mon! I’m trying to give a tour, not a ghost story! But then I think, why not? I start spinning this wild tale about a ghost named Old Man Walsham. Totally made it up, but they were eating it up! Next, we head down to the High Street. It’s buzzing! Shops everywhere, and I’m like, “You guys gotta try the fish and chips from the chippy on the corner!” I mean, it’s a must! But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. Like, proper British weather, right? I’m soaked, and my group is laughing. I’m like, “This is just a free shower, folks!” We duck into a café on Church Street. I grab a cuppa, and this lovely lady behind the counter gives me a slice of cake for free. I’m like, “You’re a legend!” It’s chocolate, and I’m in heaven. But then, I see the guy who looked like he just woke up. He’s got his cake and is just staring at it. I’m like, “Mate, it’s not a museum piece! Eat it!” After the cake break, we head to the North Walsham Museum. It’s small but packed with cool stuff. I’m showing them the old photos, and this one lady gasps. “My granddad used to live here!” she says. I’m like, “No way! Small world, innit?” It’s moments like that that make my job worth it. But then, the day takes a turn. We’re walking down the Bacton Road, and I see this massive traffic jam. I’m talking cars everywhere, honking like crazy. Turns out, there’s a parade! A proper parade! I’m like, “Guys, we’re in luck!” So, we ditch the tour for a bit and join the crowd. There are floats, music, and people dancing. I’m just vibing, and then I see a kid with a balloon. I’m like, “I want a balloon!” So, I grab one, and it’s bright red. I’m feeling like a kid again. But then, the wind picks up, and whoosh! My balloon flies away. I’m standing there, mouth agape, like, “Nooooo!” The group is cracking up. I’m laughing too, but inside, I’m like, “That was my moment!” But hey, it’s all good. We finish the day at the North Walsham Market, and I’m just chatting with everyone. It’s such a friendly place. By the end of the day, I’m knackered but happy. I love this town. North Walsham is quirky, full of surprises, and the people? Just the best. I can’t wait for tomorrow. Who knows what’ll happen next?
