Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I woke up in Portlethen, right? This little gem of a town just south of Aberdeen. I mean, it’s not exactly London, but it’s got its charm. The sea’s just a stone’s throw away, and the air smells like... well, seaweed and fish, but you get used to it. First off, I hit up the local café on the corner of Broomhill Road. You know, the one with the weirdly named pastries? I ordered a “Portlethen Puff” or whatever. It was basically a glorified croissant. But hey, carbs are life, am I right? I sat there, sipping my coffee, and people-watching. There’s this old dude who always sits by the window. He’s got this epic beard, like a wizard or something. I swear he’s seen it all. Then, boom! Outta nowhere, it starts pouring. Like, biblical rain. I’m talking Noah’s Ark levels. I dash out, trying to avoid the puddles on Cairnryan Road. But of course, I step right into one. My shoes are soaked. Great start, right? I’m fuming, but then I see this kid splashing around. He’s having the time of his life. I can’t help but smile. Kids, man. They find joy in the simplest things. So, I’m wandering around, trying to shake off the grumpiness. I stroll past Portlethen Park. It’s a nice spot, but today it’s a mud pit. I see a couple of doggos having a blast. One of them, a golden retriever, runs up to me, tail wagging like crazy. I’m like, “Dude, you’re my new best friend.” We play for a bit, and I forget about the rain. Dogs really know how to lift your spirits. After that, I decide to check out the local shops on Muirend Road. There’s this quirky little thrift store. I’m digging through the racks, and I find this hideous sweater. It’s bright orange with a giant cat on it. I mean, who even wears that? But I buy it anyway. It’s a statement piece, right? I can already picture the looks I’ll get. Then, I head to the Portlethen Community Centre. They were having some event, and I thought, “Why not?” I walk in, and it’s a bingo night. I’ve never played bingo in my life. But hey, I’m here for the experience. I sit down, and the lady next to me is super into it. She’s shouting numbers like she’s at a football match. I’m just trying to keep up. I didn’t win, but I did make a new friend. Her name’s Margaret, and she’s a hoot. We bonded over our mutual love for bad sweaters. As the night rolls on, I’m feeling pretty good. I mean, it’s been a rollercoaster. From the rain to bingo, it’s like life’s throwing curveballs, and I’m just trying to hit a home run. I walk back home, the streets are quiet, and I can hear the waves crashing. Portlethen’s got this vibe, you know? It’s chill but full of surprises. I finally crash on my couch, still wearing that ridiculous sweater. I can’t help but laugh. What a day! I’m exhausted but happy. Portlethen, you wild little town, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
