Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I woke up in my tiny flat on Sea Road, right? The sun was shining, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I decided to hit up the beach. Westgate-on-Sea has this lovely stretch of sand, and I needed some inspo for my next project. I’m an Art Director, but sometimes I feel more like a cat herder. Anyway, I grab my sketchbook and head down to the beach. The waves were crashing, and I was vibing. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my bacon sandwich! Like, excuse me, that was MY breakfast! I was so mad, I almost threw my sketchbook at it. But then I thought, “Nah, that’s just gonna make me look crazy.” So, I’m standing there, fuming, when I spot this cute little café on Westgate Bay Avenue. I figured, “Why not?” I go in, and the barista, bless her heart, was super friendly. She had this wild hair and a smile that could light up the whole of Kent. I ordered a flat white, and while I waited, I started doodling. Then, BAM! The power goes out. Just like that. I’m sitting there, in the dark, with my coffee and my doodles. I’m thinking, “Great, just great. What’s next?” But the barista just laughs it off. “Welcome to Westgate!” she says. I mean, I guess it’s part of the charm, right? After my caffeine fix, I decided to stroll down to the Westgate Pavilion. It’s this cute little spot where they have events and stuff. I thought maybe I’d find some local art or something. But no, it was just a bunch of kids running around, and I’m like, “Where’s the art?!” I was kinda bummed, but then I saw this street performer. He was juggling flaming torches! I mean, who does that? I was both impressed and terrified. Then, I got a text from my mate, Sam. He was like, “Let’s hit the pub later!” I was down, but first, I needed to check out the shops on Station Road. I love the little boutiques there. Found this quirky shop called “The Little Shop of Wonders.” Seriously, it’s like a treasure chest in there. I picked up a weird ceramic cat that looked like it was judging me. I named it Sir Judgy Paws. So, I’m walking back, feeling pretty good, when I trip over a loose cobblestone on the pavement. Classic Westgate, right? I’m sprawled out on the ground, and this old lady walks by. She just looks at me and says, “You alright, love?” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Just testing the pavement!” I said. She chuckled and kept walking. Finally, I meet up with Sam at The Royal Hotel. It’s a cozy pub with a killer view of the sea. We grab a couple of pints, and I start telling him about my day. He’s cracking up at the seagull story, and I’m like, “Dude, it was a tragedy!” We end up chatting about everything—art, life, the weirdness of Westgate. As the sun sets, the sky turns this insane shade of orange. I’m sitting there, sipping my drink, and I think, “You know what? This day was a rollercoaster, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.” Westgate-on-Sea, with all its quirks and surprises, has a way of making you feel alive. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but hey, that’s life, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Maybe I’ll keep my bacon sandwich closer next time!
