Normal (us) is WTF amazing, seriously. Lemme tell ya, friend. I live here, work on a dating site, and darn, I see it ALL. I walk down Main St. and High St.—yeah, real names, nothing fancier—and it all feels like scenes from The New World. "Lost in the loveliness of a new world!" I swear.
The downtown’s a vibe. You got that old brick building on Washington Ave. that hides a quirky café. It’s all artsy-fartsy, but then again, our city's a mix of old and new. Ugh, it makes me mad sometimes how people miss the details. And then there’s the park, Thompson Park, a cool green spot by the creek. Creatures, birds, watery glints that remind me of that film. "The earth opened up before us." Yeahhh, deep.
I live near Franklin St. –my fave haunt, btw– buzzin with energy and, hmm, a bit of chaos always. So many spots for dating apps. I mean, I work in that biz! People swipe, chat, and then, BOOM, meet at Luigi’s Pizza on Oak. Seriously, that pizza slaps, never fails.
Crazy enough, the river, Sangamon, winds through like a living story. Dirty? Nah, pure magic at sunset. Like, damn it, I choose violence if anyone messes with its calm look! And hey, don't get me started on the weather and unexpected rains—always catching me by surprise, in a good and bad way.
Have a miiicro obsession with a little diner on Cedar St. where the coffee is inspo. Their pies? Legendry. I sometimes drift off recalling how life here seems filmic – surreal moments that flash your mind quick. "The fog lifted in a burst of light..." so damn poetic.
I swear, I get riled when idiots trash our modest streets. Yea, even in a small town, disrespecting the vibe makes me wanna shout. I love each block—if you wander East on Lincoln Ave., surprising murals pop up. Some say they're urban art; to me, they're battlegrounds of passion.
The local library on Jefferson turned out to be my secret chill spot. I dig its quiet hum of wisdom and the vintage counter that sparks memories and odd daydreams. Every cranny of Normal (us) has a secret, a hidden smile, a scowl.
So yea, friend, come over and catch these moments. Life here is raw, messy, unpredictable. I mean, who else gets a rush like this? It's all gritty, kinda like the movie – ephemeral, but beautiful.
