Late penalty sees us drop points in Altach | OneFootballFC Red Bull Salzburg
Disappointing 1-1 away drawWe offered too little this afternoon against SCR Altach
After taking two wins against the top two in the table
we had to contend ourselves with a point at the side bottom of the table in the penultimate match of the regular season
The secrets to our 3-1 success against Sturm were deployed again as Thomas Letsch opted for a very attacking line-up
Not just with Adam Daghim and Karim Onisiwo
Vertessen and Nene were deployed just behind them
It only took around 10 minutes for the approach to pay off – even if that came a little out of nowhere
Altach had worked their way into the encounter only for a long ball from our boys to test them
Daghim sprinted to block a long ball upfield from Stojanovic
and Yorbe Vertessen was able to direct the ball into an empty net (11')
The goal took the wind out of the sails of Kameri & Co as Onisiwo tried to double the lead (13')
The game then quietened down with our side in charge
Altach midfielder Kaiba sent in a warning shot by curling the ball just wide
before Joane Gadou had a chance to head in a second (26')
Those were the best moments of the first period
We stepped up a gear at the start of the second half as Altach dropped back and did everything to contain us
There were few highlights to entertain the 4,865 fans at the Cashpoint Arena in the second period either
until a sudden penalty award in the final phase threw everything up into the air
Aleksa Terzic brought an opponent down when leaping for the ball on the edge of the area – and a penalty kick resulted
but had no chance of reaching an effort from Dietz on the rebound (80')
We lacked the incisiveness up front today and only in stoppage time did we begin to create with ease
Substitute Edmund Baidoo had a shot inside the six-yard box after the ball was played in but was denied by the goalkeeper (90+3')
while Onisiwo was also unable to beat Stojanovic with a header (90+4')
with Ingolitsch seeing a second yellow card
We have one more match in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga's regular season - in Salzburg next Sunday (16 March) at 17:00 CET

Anything can happen when you are only 1-0 in front
and we knew about how strong Altach are from set pieces
It would have been better if we had made it 2-0
but we can't start to doubt ourselves now
We had plenty of opportunities - now we need to learn our lessons

Founded in 2022 and originating from pioneering research at Trinity
Altach has developed a novel biomimetic scaffold made from Type II collagen
a medical device company backed by NLC Health Ventures
which spun out from Trinity College Dublin
has secured investment of €1.2 million to address the urgent need for improved treatments for articular cartilage injuries
This technology supports the bodyʼs healing process by mimicking the properties of native cartilage
and encouraging innate cartilage regeneration
The scaffold essentially offers more effective alternatives to traditional cartilage repair methods
said: “Our technology marks a significant advancement in how we treat articular cartilage injuries
Our scaffolds could reduce recovery times and increase the quality of healing
profoundly improving patients' daily lives.”
Chief Technology Officer and one of the inventors
is also an adjunct professor in Trinity’s School of Engineering
He added: “Over a decade of research and development has already been conducted on the Altach product
taking the technology from initial proof of concept studies to pre-clinical evaluation
“We have already met several key development milestones including the recent granting of our US patent
This funding will now allow us to scale up manufacturing and validate our product in advance of clinical use.”
The need for such innovations is critical with over 600,000 cartilage repair procedures performed annually in the US alone
According to a report conducted by iHealthcareAnalyst
the market for cartilage repair is projected to grow to $5.9 US billion by 2031
The funding round saw participation from a range of investors
such as those from a crowdfunding campaign on Spark Crowdfunding
signalling strong confidence in Altach's potential
The investment will be used to hit key regulatory and development milestones
bringing the Altach technology closer to market readiness and ultimately benefiting patients suffering from cartilage-related injuries

Austria Wien visit SCR Altach in the fifth round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. After the victories against LASK and Oedt in the cup, they will be looking for three points in Vorarlberg. Coach Stephan Helm and Andreas Gruber know that this will be anything but easy.
The last time the Violets scored seven points from their first four games was in 2020/21, and the last time they scored ten points after five rounds was in 2015/16. And they could do so again nine years later. SCR Altach, on the other hand, have done well recently. There were two wins against LASK and WAC - as well as for Austria - and last week the Vorarlberg side narrowly lost 2-1 to champions Sturm Graz.
Both Gruber and his coach recall the home game and the performance against LASK. “We played a really good game last week. If we want to take something with us in Altach, we have to perform there too,” says Helm. And the 29-year-old adds: “We need the same intensity and have to show the same level of play. If we manage to do that and are good in defense, I think it can turn out very well for us.”
It is clear that the team will have to go to the limit again, a top performance will be required, according to Helm. “But then we are a team that can pose problems for any opponent and win.” And that is also the goal: “We want to get the three points to stay in the lead”, says Gruber.
In terms of the squad, the Violet coaching team can once again call on several players. “We deliberately took some players out after the LASK game and rotated a lot in the cup”, explained Helm. “We have a good squad available for the weekend in Altach.”
Johannes Handl, Luca Pazourek, Ziad El Sheiwi and Florian Wustinger are still out, although good progress can be seen in training. Marvin Potzmann and Marvin Martins are also still injured, while Marko Raguž will once again play for the Young Violets.
Last season, LASK garnered four points from their two encounters with Altach. Following a 1-0 victory in the autumn, thanks to a goal by Robert Zulj, the teams drew 0-0 away. The overall record favors Linz: in 26 top-flight matches, LASK emerged victorious 17 times, drew seven times, and only twice failed to secure any points. The team has been unbeaten since October 2021 and has recently secured three consecutive home victories.
In the Raiffeisen Arena, LASK showed remarkable home strength last season. Out of 16 games, they achieved nine wins and four draws, placing them third in the home performance rankings. The Black-Whites celebrated their goal anthem 26 times and goalkeeper Tobias Lawal kept eight clean sheets.
Unavailable: Entrup, Boateng, Flecker, Ljubic, Mustapha, Andrade, Talovierov, Galvez.
We are facing a complicated match. Given the situation Altach is in, we can expect that our opponent might try something new. Altach will fight for every inch to get out of their situation, so we need to be very alert and approach the game with the appropriate level of energy.

Compared to last week's opening win in Hartberg
with Hrvoje Smolcic returning to the starting eleven after recovering from an injury
The first few minutes revealed the direction the match would take
The Linzers showed intense pressure and threatened the opposing goal multiple times in the early stages
George Bello narrowly missed the target after an attack down the left in the 5th minute
but the captain's shot was cleared just before crossing the line
as a pinpoint cross from Usor found the inside of the 32-year-old's boot
he gave LASK fans their first reason to celebrate
It was Zulj's 25th competitive goal for LASK
his last coming in February against Austria Klagenfurt before his injury break
controlling up to 80% of possession at times
Altach managed to equalize: Gustavo Santos capitalized on a midfield passing error
and kept his composure in front of Tobias Lawal to slot in the 1-1 (27')
Despite LASK's overwhelming dominance and good chances
including a powerful strike from Jovicic in the 29th minute
no further goals were scored before the break
the familiar pattern continued: LASK dominated
it was much more difficult for LASK to get into scoring positions
The only real chance came when a shot from Zulj narrowly skimmed over the crossbar in the 55th minute
The shock came in the 69th minute: Once again
the lively Santos slipped past the Linz defense after a well-timed through ball
and scored to make it 2-1 for the visitors
the hosts naturally threw everything forward
substitute and birthday boy Adil Taoui missed the chance to equalize after a setup by fellow substitute Lenny Pintor

we played a really good game but missed too many scoring opportunities
we would probably win with such a performance
but now it's important to handle the defeat properly
With all medical checks and formalities successfully completed
we can now confirm that Oliver Strunz will play on loan at SCR Altach next season
was due to move on loan to Altach last winter
but the move was canceled after he suffered an injury in training in January
Strunz has been with Rapid since joining the academy in 2009 from First Vienna’s youth set-up
but during this calendar year he didn’t make any appearances with the first team
although he returned from his injury in May
playing in the Regional League East for SK Rapid II
the forward who has made 44 competitive appearances (scoring 6 goals) for Rapid’s senior side and played a further 49 times for the second team (17 goals) will be wearing the Altach jersey in the Bundesliga
Sporting Director Markus Katzer had this to say about the future loan-player: „There’s a reason why Oliver Strunz has a long contract with us
we have a huge amount of faith in his abilities
Now it’s important for him to play regularly at a high level
and a loan spell at Altach is a perfect solution
and hopefully we’ll have him back stronger in Hütteldorf just under a year from now.“

The defensive midfielder, Vesel Demaku, on Saturday with Altach will play against Sturm Graz in the 15th round of the Austrian football elite.
On Thursday, Demaku was present at the press conference and in addition to the match where he expects a positive result, he also spoke about the Representative of Kosovo.
As a young player of Kosovo, Demaku was presented by the Football Federation of Kosovo on October 28.
He emphasized on Thursday that this decision was personal.
"They are two states of the heart", said Demaku, who has 15 appearances with Austria U21. He has also played for other age groups of the Austrians.
But, says Demaku, he did not make the decision to represent Kosovo because he has the best chances to play.
“He has to work hard and if I'm good enough, I'll get cold. In the Kosovo team, there is competition and well-known players", stated Demaku.
Demaku and Altachu after 14 games played have only nine points and are in last place in the table.
In their seventh competitive match in three weeks, LASK coach Markus Schopp made three changes to the starting lineup: Florian Flecker took on the role of right-back, while Adil Taoui and Maximilian Entrup were brought into the squad. Just three minutes in, the Athletiker once again demonstrated the danger they've posed from set pieces in recent weeks. Philipp Ziereis found himself completely unmarked after a corner, but he couldn’t make solid contact to direct the ball towards the goal.

Emotionally, it’s something really special that we managed to turn the game around so late. We actually started the game well but failed to punish the opponent early on and then lost our rhythm. During a brief period of pressure from Altach, we conceded the goal. In the end, these are three very valuable points; it was extremely important to secure a full win before the international break.
Austria Wien goes into the international break with a point in Altach. Andreas Gruber put the Violets ahead in the first half, Paul Koller equalized for the home side shortly afterwards. Both teams then had several good opportunities to decide the game, but in the end it was a fair draw.
After the ultimately successful performance in the Cup with rotation in eight positions, head coach Stephan Helm returned to the starting line-up from the win over LASK. Samuel Şahin-Radlinger started in goal again, with Reinhold Ranftl, Aleksandar Dragović, Lucas Galvão and Matteo Pérez Vinlöf forming the back four. Manfred Fischer took up his position in defensive midfield, while Dominik Fitz and Maurice Malone were back in the attacking first eleven.
SCR Altach lost narrowly 2-1 to Sturm Graz, with coach Joachim Standfest making just one change to the starting eleven: Sofian Balhoul replaced Lukas Fadinger in attack.
Austria tried to take control of the game in Altach at the start, with the hosts relying on quick counter-attacks via the current top scorer in the league, Gustavo Santos. It took a while for the first shot on goal, Sofian Balhoul shot for the Vorarlberg side, but fired wide of the target (17'). The first ball towards Altach goalkeeper Dejan Stojanović, on the other hand, was straight in, Andreas Gruber heading home a perfect cross from Matteo Pérez Vinlöf to make it 0:1 (18').
Altach had the first chance in the second half, with Sandro Ingolitsch heading Bahloul's cross over the goal from close range (46'). Dominik Fitz was wonderfully set free by Nik Prelec with his heel, but the playmaker's shot missed the target (48'). Gustavo Santos and Andreas Gruber shot just wide (50', 52') - the game now swung back and forth.
Gustavo Santos took off in the direction of Samuel Şahin-Radlinger from an offside position - our goalkeeper saved in conjunction with Abubakr Barry (57'). Nik Prelec had two shots on target, but the ball did not find its way into the goal (57', 63'). A handball by Mike Bähre in the penalty area was deemed not worthy of a penalty by referee Markus Hameter and play continued (66'). Bahloul missed with a header (71').
Stephan Helm then made a change: Cristiano came on for Andreas Gruber in the 72nd minute, followed shortly afterwards by Moritz Wels for Abubakr Barry. Both teams minimized the risk in the final phase of the game, Altach had one more headed chance through Lukas Gugganig (87'). At the end of five minutes of stoppage time, a header from Maurice Malone missed the target - Altach and Austria drew 1-1.
Altach: Stojanović; Estrada, Gugganig, Koller; Ingolitsch, Bähre, Demaku (66. Jäger), Ouedraogo; Strunz (66. Fadinger), Santos, Bahloul (73. Kronberger)
Austria: Şahin-Radlinger; Ranftl, Dragović, Galvão, Pérez Vinlöf; Fischer, Barry (75. Wels); Gruber (72. Cristiano), Fitz, Malone; Prelec

The 24-year-old attacking player Maria Olsen is moving from SCR Altach to Vienna. The Dane has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Violets until the summer of 2027.
"I'm very happy to join Austria Wien. It's a new challenge and an opportunity to grow. I'm excited to get started with the team and staff, I'm motivated to putting in my best effort and contributing to the team’s success. My goal for this season is to enjoy, have fun again playing football and grow as a player. Together we want to try to continue to challenge St. Pölten and play at the top of the league", says Maria Olsen.
Olsen started her soccer career in Denmark with Kolding IF, playing for Varde IF in the meantime, before venturing to the USA in 2020 at the age of 19. There, Olsen played for the Wildcats at the University of Kentucky and studied marketing. In February 2022, she returned to her home country and joined AGF Fodbold. Six months later, she moved to Austria to join the then SPG Altach/Vorderland.
Maria Olsen with her trademark white hairband
Lisa Makas, sporting director: "Maria has been an absolute favourite of ours for a long time and we are delighted that the transfer has now worked out. She has proven her footballing qualities many times in recent years and can cause problems for any defense in Austria with her creativity. Maria makes us even more versatile in attack and brings an additional variable to our game with her strength at set pieces."
Saints and summer signing Che Adams made the dream start when the 22-year-old opened the scoring after just two minutes
home attacker Manfred Fischer levelled the match with a superbly taken goal midway through the first-half
and that is how the match stayed despite numerous other chances for both sides
Saints fans would have been wondering whether Ralph Hasenhuttl would go with his preferred 4-2-2-2 system in the 2019/20 season
but the Austrian went with that formation here
Alex McCarthy started in goal behind a back-four of Yan Valery
A central pairing of Oriol Romeu and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were complimented by Mohamed Elyounoussi and Josh Sims on the flanks
whilst Shane Long and new man Che Adams began in attack
Most of the talk ahead of Saints’ opening pre-season game had been about Adams’ first outing in a red and white shirt
and he would have the perfect start for his new side within two minutes
The ball rolled across the £16m man in the area and allowed him to plant a calm finish into the far corner on the spin
It was a rapid start by Saints in a clash with opposition who were much further ahead of them in their preparations for the upcoming campaign
SCR Altach begin their domestic season this coming Saturday and they drew level after 26 minutes
Midfielder Manfred Fischer – who had also found the net in a narrow 3-2 loss to West Ham on Thursday – collected the ball just outside the area and whipped a superb strike inside Alex McCarthy’s near post
Saints were forced to see out some pressure from the hosts
and McCarthy had to see off further efforts from Emir Karic and Samuel Oum Gouet
as they broke down the other end and moved the ball onto Adams once again
he almost doubled his tally for the afternoon when pushing the ball wide
creating an angle and striking the post with a clever effort
a carbon copy of that chance came again for the 22-year-old
This time he beat home keeper Martin Kobras before seeing his shot cleared well off the line by a defender
11 changes were made by Saints at half-time after a testing first period
Jan Bednarek and Jake Vokins came into goal and defence
Dan N’Lundulu and Danny Ings made up the six in front of them
Whereas the first-half had a fast tempo and had seen numerous chances for both sides
the second was rather less eventful under the hour mark was reached
Redmond shot wide with his left foot after lining up his man before Ward-Prowse bent a bouncing free-kick past the far post from the right side of the area
One man who had particularly impressed for Altach was 18-year-old central-midfielder Ousmane Diakite
Saints perhaps breathed a sigh of relief when he was withdrawn after 71 minutes
Some bright bursts on the ball came from Saints sub N’Lundulu in the latter stages but the game would end 1-1
Ralph Hasenhuttl and his side now finish up in Austria and head back home to England to face Preston North End next weekend

More than 11,000 tickets for the last match before the winter break were sold on Friday morning
Coach Stephan Helm is eager for an eighth Bundesliga win in a row: ‘We're feeling a lot of positive energy right now
which we want to convert into performance.’
...the upcoming opponent:‘We have prepared specifically for Altach
They have always been proactive in recent games
They want to play purposefully and put pressure on the ball
note) has brought a lot of new ideas with him
Their last few games were always decided towards the end
They picked up a point against the reigning double winners last week
...the recent winning streak:‘We're feeling a lot of positive energy right now
but a run doesn't help in individual games
The positive side effect is of course that our self-confidence is growing
...the internal competition:‘Every player knows that they have to confirm their performances on a weekly basis
We can now also influence the game from the bench
but everyone knows that there is someone in their position who also wants to play
We can put together the starting eleven and squad for each game in such a way that we increase the likelihood of achieving positive results.’
...the financial situation:‘The club has ensured since the summer that we can go about our work in peace
you get a little bit of information on the sidelines
It's important that we can continue to work professionally without being disturbed
which is one of the reasons for the positive atmosphere in the club
We all have the feeling that we have built something very positive here recently
That is the basis for successful football.’
...the explosion in performance after the change of sides:‘It's obvious that our athletics coaches are doing a super job
but the most important thing is that we have so many fit players available for 90 minutes
The spaces are usually tighter in the first half
We're also very patient and don't let ourselves get rattled.’
Dominik Fitz returns to the team after his yellow card suspension
All players are fit apart from Ziad El Sheiwi

There was a lack of desire to promote him internally as the game time was limited
AC Milan have loaned out young goalkeeper Andreas Jungdal to SCR Altach in Austria
The keeper who have spent the past couple of seasons in the Primavera and has received numerous all ups has been sent out on loan with an option to buy as Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara brought in Devis Vasquez to be the third choice keeper
The transfer was confirmed by SCR Altach on their website
The move consists of a 6 month loan with an option to buy but Milan also have a buyback clause in place
Jungdal was a major prospect and expected to get some first team minutes but the opportunity never came up for the Denmark U21 international
He has also been capped by the Danish U20 and U18 sides
He played 34 games for the Primavera and kept 13 clean sheets
The 20 year old will be managed by former Lazio and Germany striker Miroslav Klose
Former Bayern player and coach becomes head coach of Austrian Bundesliga side
This will be the first time Klose is in charge of a senior team
“Miro Klose is a very big name in Football
but rather about the personality of Miro Klose
and that which is most important to us at SCR Altach: about the person
down-to-earth worker and is advancing on world class
The values for which he stands fit right into our club and his football smarts are indisputable.”
Werner Grabherr added to Längle’s statement
“I am excited that we found our new head coach
Miroslav fits in well with his personality here at SCRA
is ready to get to work and to further promote the professionalism
that has a lot of experience in the training and development
We will provide Miroslav with everything that he will need in his first head coaching position.”
The newly appointed head coach also expressed his excitement in this statement: “I am extremely excited for this new challenge here in Altach
It was simple from the beginning – this really positive feeling
The first conversations with the executives were so open
Now I can hardly wait to get to know the team
SCR Altach is located in the city of Altach and the Western Austrian state of Vorarlberg
They have been in the Austrian topflight since 2014 and have broken into the Europa League play-in stages on multiple occasions
global football in 2016 was dominated by the remarkable story of Leicester City
As 5000-1 outsiders who narrowly avoided relegation one season only to go on and win the league the next
the Foxes will forever be remembered for what was one of the greatest achievements the sport has ever witnessed
Any clubs attempting to recreate their meteoric rise will subsequently have their efforts referred to as “doing a Leicester”
from a sleepy village in the far west of Austria
are aiming to do exactly that with an extraordinary story of their own
Thanks to the large sums of money pumped into the club by their owners
the Austrian Bundesliga has been absolutely dominated by Red Bull Salzburg over the last decade
when they won their first league title after being taken over by the energy drink company
Salzburg have won seven league titles (over double the amount they managed under their previous moniker
with no season seeing them finish lower than runners-up
Each of the previous three campaigns have resulted in them comfortably lifting the title
with Rapid Wien proving to be the only side capable of getting anywhere near the league giants
many assumed – with good reason – that more Salzburg dominance was on the cards this season
Despite the comfortable nature of their Bundesliga title wins
Salzburg have continually failed to impress on the European stage
something that has concerned their owners and resulted in a dramatic decrease in funding
their fans) care little for successive league wins if they don’t lead to success on the continent
and the club’s inability to make it past the last-16 of the Europa League – let alone the Champions League
where they are yet to progress from the playoffs – has been a cause for concern in recent years
Once the focal point of Red Bull’s effort and
Salzburg’s inability to succeed in Europe has resulted in funds being diverted to RB Leipzig
the little brother who now finds himself at the head of the family
Dayot Upamecano and Bernardo have all been shipped over to Germany in an attempt to help continue Leipzig’s impressive
leaving Salzburg underfunded and understaffed
and once again opening up the playing field in Austria
Hailing from the eponymous municipality of just over 6,500 people
and lying mere miles away from the border with Switzerland
the club stands alone as the Bundesliga’s sole representative from the west of the country
A difficult season in which they lost exactly half of their games resulted in Altach narrowly avoiding relegation last year
with eventual bottom-place finishers Grödig finishing just five points behind them
for a team that had only previous featured in the top flight between 2006 and 2009
Altach had impressed by reaching third at the end of the 2014-15 campaign on what was a dizzying return to the Bundesliga
but achieving top-flight stability always seemed to be the main objective for a club that were aiming to permanently break away from the Erste Liga
a rather average journeyman as a player who
had done an impressive job at helping to establish Lustenau as a respected team in the top half of the Erste Liga
With Altach aiming to build on two successive second-place finishes
Canadi proved to be the perfect fit for his new club
guided them to a comfortable league win thanks to a 14-point gap over their nearest challengers
After enjoying the highs of a third-place finish (and the Europa League spot that came with it)
the club stuck with Canadi despite their struggles the following campaign
coupled with his ability to spot talent in the most unusual of places
equal on points with leaders Sturm Graz and four ahead of stuttering Salzburg
the architect of Altach’s joy over the past three years
really; the 46-year-old had received plenty of well-deserved praise and admiration for his achievements at Altach
so it was only a matter of time before one of the giants of the league came calling
already nine points behind Graz and Altach
offered Canadi his first opportunity to manage one of Austria’s most successful clubs
and it came as a shock to no one when he decided to take them up on their offer midway through what was proving to be an excellent season for his overachieving minnows
Fitting a pattern that has been exhibited with great effect in neighbouring Germany
Altach continued to build on the foundations they had laid down by hiring from inside the club
alongside sporting director Georg Zellhofer
had worked closely with reserve team coach and marketing director Werner Grabherr
became the youngest ever head coach in Austrian football
Altach were narrowly held at home to a 1-1 draw by Graz in Grabherr’s first game in charge
but the young manager made an immediate impact as the club aimed to avoid a post-Canadi slump
Back-to-back wins against Mattersburg and Ried saw Altach start December three points clear at the top of the table
despite suffering a rare defeat away to Salzburg in their next game
further victories at home to Wolfsberger and Rapid Wien meant that they headed into the winter break with a two-point lead at the top of the table
Grabherr continued the good work started by Canadi and built on the tactical foundations laid down by the former manager
Utilising a well-organised and defensively solid 3-5-2 formation – one that could easily morph into a 5-4-1 when needed – the young coach proved as adept as his predecessor at getting the best out of a combination of youngsters and oft-overlooked seasoned professionals
several of whom have remained with the club since their years in the second tier
formerly a member of Austria Wien’s reserve team
is one such player who has continually impressed this campaign
the club’s captain has dropped into the back of Altach’s three-man defence
a position from which he has shown great defensive capabilities as well as the desire to drive forward from deep
In front of him, Louis Ngwat-Mahop – who, like Netzer, joined the club whilst they were still in the Erste Liga – has shown why it was that Bayern Munich saw so much promise in him as a fresh-faced teenager
After having his contract with the Bavarian club terminated due to a scandal involving a fake French passport on the eve of an Asian tour
the Cameroonian has slowly but surely risen back up the ranks thanks to spells at Salzburg
Ngwat-Mahop featured primarily as a centre-forward and winger in previous seasons but has dropped deeper this campaign to become one of Altach’s most important and versatile players
the 29-year-old now finds himself part of an impressive midfield that is as resolute as it is creative
it is in attack where Altach have sparkled so much this season
Switzerland under-21 striker Dimitri Oberlin has set the Bundesliga alight with his performances this campaign
resulting in him currently sitting in second place in the top goalscorers
it seems the 19-year-old’s performances were seen by parent club Salzburg as being too good and
possibly in an attempt to derail their main rivals
his loan spell at Altach was brought to an end in December
It now looks as if he’s going to be shipped abroad
leaving Altach without one of their star performers
if Altach have proven one thing this season
it’s their ability to work as a team and extract the best from each and every player
has continually shone across the front line
With seven goals and five assists under his belt
the youngster has been just as important as Oberlin
with the Swiss striker now back at Salzburg
the onus is on him to build on the impressive performances that characterised his first half of the campaign
Despite doing so well in such a short amount of time
the wins against Wolfsberger and Rapid Wien would prove to be Grabherr’s last
as his lack of a UEFA Pro Licence meant that he was only ever able to be signed on a temporary basis
With the two-month winter break proving to be an ideal time to find a successor
Grabherr returned to his day job as the club’s marketing director
Pölten boss Martin Scherb to take control for the second half of the season
With a revitalised Salzburg lying equal on points with them at the top of the table
after having to deal with the disappointment of losing
now have 15 games left to try and pull off one of the biggest shocks in the history of Austrian football
By Ben Cullimore @bcullimoreftbl
AC Milan's Serbian striker Marko Lazetic signed a deal with Austrian club Altach on loan
Lazetic is the second player to be transferred from the “Rossoneri” to Altach this winter
The former Red Star Belgrade said the following words:
"I'm full of anticipation for the games with the SCR Altach and I want to present myself with strong performances
The discussions with Georg Festetics and Miroslav Klose convinced me that this step is exactly the right one in my current career phase
Andreas Jungdal has already told me a lot about this and I can hardly wait to get to know the team and the fans."

the stats after the game against Altach spoke for themselves
the Athletes demonstrated significant dominance and created several high-quality chances
"I was very satisfied with the performance we showed in the first half
I’ve never seen the team play like that before," said head coach Thomas Darazs
noting that the first 45 minutes matched his expectations—aside from the conversion rate
"We were completely superior but need to be more effective in the final third," agreed Berisha
Valon Berisha and his teammates narrowly lost in the end
With the equalizer following Robert Žulj's goal - his 25th competitive goal for LASK - Altach turned the game on its head
Another mistake in the second half handed the visitors the winning goal
"We still give away the ball too carelessly at times
and then we need to be sharper and more focused in our defensive transitions
That will be the most important learning," explained Darazs
the Athletes couldn't maintain the level of performance from the first half and
rarely found themselves in dangerous scoring positions
we played around 100 fewer passes and took three
and continue playing our game," said our head coach
the team needs to handle negative moments in a game better
Robert Žulj scored his 25th competitive goal for LASK
Although the disappointment was immense immediately after the final whistle
the Black and Whites are determined not to let their first defeat of the season throw them off track -especially since the first 45 minutes showed many positive signs
we saw how difficult it was for us to break down a team that sits deep
The first half showed we've made progress there," said Philipp Ziereis
Teammate Berisha is convinced: "If we keep going like this and believe in ourselves and our style of play
everything will come together." Head coach Darazs added
"The game didn't open our eyes in a new way
but the second half was a sign of what we can improve."

Saints’ road to opening day begins in Austria as they face an Austrian Bundesliga outfit
Altach may not exactly be world-class opponents
but they will surely prove a tough test for a just off the beach SFC side
The host welcome Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men as the last opponents before their campaign commences
SCR gave previous visitors West Ham a run for their money
and fitness more valuable than a positive result
but pre-season is a necessary dress rehearsal for players and management to work out the bugs
just in time for that seemingly inevitable Nil Nil at Burnley on opening day
In some respects this opening kickabout marks the first step in the implementation of the Hasenhüttl project
The Austrian may have delivered promising results last season
but without a full campaign under his belt and relegation a constant threat
the first few newly acquired personnel brought in
and with just under a month to practice and refine tactics
we can now begin to see the Hasenhüttl vision come to fruition

ENGLAND – MARCH 09: Southampton players form a huddle on the pitch after the Premier League match between Southampton FC and Tottenham Hotspur at St Mary’s Stadium on March 09
After scoring 22 goals in 46 appearances last season
it’s fair to say that Che Adams impressed during his time at Birmingham city
Even a cursory examination of some of the players previous goals for the blues shows him to be a well-rounded athlete
During his time at the championship side the 22-year-old
and the ability to hold off the opposing defenders
In their extensive review of the front man website footballbh.net said:
“The former Birmingham City player is capable of leading the line on his own
he still has many years to develop before he hits his peak.”
this does not necessarily mean that success is a given
faster and sharper than their championship counterparts
The attacker is unlikely to get as much time or space as in the past
It will be interesting to see how long it takes the young marksman to acclimatise to a more challenging environment
Game time against reasonable opponents is the first step towards adapting to his new club’s setup
whilst hopefully discovering the all-important chemistry with his teammates
This friendly won’t determine whether Adams is worthy to be a Premier League finisher
but it may still hold the shoots of promise
since signing in last summer’s transfer window
it’s fair to say that Elyounoussi has underachieved that the club
the attacker has failed to score league goal
or to make any kind of impact when on the pitch
the Norwegian hasn’t done anything particularly wrong he is typically anonymous during matches
While speaking with the Southern Daily Echo
it’s clear that Elyounoussi believes improvement can be made
“They see that I have skills and am an important player for the club
But I need more time to develop and take the physical level required in the Premier League.”
the coming pre-season will be the required platform for Elyounoussi to launch his Southampton career
A change of system may yet unlock the bags of potential for the 24-year-old
a bad summer session will likely lead to a tepid season start and a swift January exit
it’s been a strong start to the summer window for Hasenhüttl
The final third of the pitch looks to be taking shape nicely as new boys Adams and Moussa Djenepo put pen to paper
there is still plenty of time for the gaffer to bring in more new recruits while shipping out those that don’t meet the standard
The forthcoming test should give management staff further insight into areas that need strengthening and those that are good to go
it can be tricky for an outsider to glean useful information from these exhibition affairs
but to the season prose of the game it’s key to understanding where the players are physically and mentally
Given last term’s back line fragility it’s highly likely that new defensive recruits are sought
a new campaign means a new opportunity for previous under-performers to showcase their wares and prove their worthiness
and put new setups through trial and error
Saints confirm sale of Gallagher to Blackburn
2022 (AFP) - Former Germany striker Miroslav Klose
the all-time top scorer at World Cup finals
was on Friday named coach of Austrian Bundesliga club Altach
This will be the 44-year-old's first role as a head coach having previously been on the coaching staff at Bayern Munich and the Germany
The website of Altach briefly crashed Friday after the news broke
"I am looking forward to my new job here," Klose said in a statement
"I had a positive feeling right from the start."
Klose retired from international football after helping Germany win the 2014 World Cup
he netted the 16th goal of his career at tournament finals to break the previous World Cup record of Brazil's Ronaldo
He is also Germany's record scorer with 71 goals in 137 internationals
Klose retired from all football in 2016 and was initially assistant coach of Germany under Joachim Low before taking charge of Bayern Munich's Under-17s team
Klose graduated to the senior team where he joined Hansi Flick's back-room staff as assistant coach
Reigning champions Sturm Graz will be bidding to bounce back from an opening-weekend defeat when they continue their Austrian Bundesliga campaign at home to Hartberg on Sunday afternoon
The Graz outfit were beaten 1-0 by Rapid Vienna in their campaign opener last time out
while Hartberg suffered a 2-1 loss to LASK Linz in their first league game of the new season
Sturm Graz are four-time Austrian Bundesliga champions
which proved to be their first title success since the 2010-11 campaign
The team have therefore qualified for the group stage of this season's Champions League
and it will be their first appearance at that stage of the competition since the 2000-01 tournament
Manchester United and Panathinaikos in Group A
Christian Ilzer's side progressed in the Austrian Cup at the end of last month courtesy of a 4-2 success over Krems/Rehberg
but they were beaten 1-0 by Rapid Vienna in their league opener on August 4
Sturm Graz were actually involved in a friendly with French champions Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday
but the reigning Austrian champions will now switch their focus back to the league
The last meeting between Sturm Graz and Hartberg finished 1-1 at the start of May
and the hosts are unbeaten in their last seven domestic games against Sunday's opponents
opened their 2024-25 campaign in excellent fashion
recording an 11-1 victory over Bischofshofen to progress in the Austrian Cup
However, they were unable to start their Austrian Bundesliga season with a win, suffering a 2-1 defeat to LASK Linz on August 3, with the result leaving them in eighth position in the table
Markus Schopp's side finished fifth in the Austrian Bundesliga last term
which has seen them qualify for the playoff round of the 2024-25 Conference League
have not enjoyed their recent meetings with Sturm Graz
with their last away victory over the reigning Austrian champions coming back in July 2020
Sturm Graz will be without the services of two players on Sunday, with Max Johnston out through illness, while Seedy Jatta will be missing until late September with a knee problem
Mika Biereth scored five league goals for the champions in the second half of last season
and he has now arrived at the club on a permanent basis from Arsenal
The 21-year-old will lead the line for the home side on Sunday afternoon, while there is also expected to be a position in the final third of the field for William Boving
the visitors have not reported any injury problems ahead of the match
while they will also not be missing any players through suspension this weekend
Head coach Schopp will have been pleased with aspects of his side's performance against LASK Linz
so it would not be a surprise to see the same XI take to the field
Patrik Mijic led the line last time out
should also be given the nod in the final third of the field at the Merkur-Arena
Sturm Graz possible starting lineup:Scherpen; Gazibegovic
Hartberg possible starting lineup:Sallinger; Heil
Hartberg are certainly capable of making this a tricky match for Sturm Graz
and we are expecting to be a tight affair on Sunday afternoon
the reigning champions should have enough quality to navigate their way to all three points

The team leader for individual training at the Bayern Munich campus
accepted an offer as an assistant coach at the Austrian Bundesliga club SCR Altach at short notice and will work there again in the future with newly-appointed head coach Miroslav Klose
the yesteryear German talisman was introduced as the new head coach in Vorarlberg on Friday
he trained the U17s on campus from 2018 to 2020
“Slaven approached us with the request to take on this exciting task alongside Miro
We wish him every success in Altach and would like to thank him for his dedicated work over the past four years,” said Holger Seitz
The 50-year-old Skeledžić joined FC Bayern’s youth department in the summer of 2018
he took over the newly created position of team leader for individual training
A successor to Skeledžić is to be named in the near future
Read what the teams had to say after the clashes between FC Blau-Weiß Linz and TSV Hartberg
FC Red Bull Salzburg and Wolfsberger AC as well as SK Sturm Graz and LASK HERE
Gerald Scheiblehner (Blue & White coach): "We put in a top performance on the pitch
In the second half we changed a few things and finished the game sensationally
It felt like a frenzy of play in the second half
The score at half-time didn't really matter
What we have achieved is absolutely at the limit
Our task next year will be to start again with the aim of staying in the league
Promotion was even more important for the club
We can enjoy the championship group and only win
Manfred Schmid (Hartberg coach): "We started the game quite well and had the first great chance to score
In the second half it was too little in all respects
We started the championship relatively badly
We didn't get off to a good start in the second half of the season
we have to focus on the relegation battle and increase the gap to the bottom
Philipp Semlic (WSG coach): "It was a very evenly-matched game
It's a shame that we didn't score from the two good chances we had in the first half
That would have swung the pendulum to our side and so we chased it
it's a shame that a penalty decision against you changes the game again
you have to say that Austria have qualities
The serious side of life begins for us now
we know what's at stake in the lower play-off."
Stephan Helm (Austria coach): "Our opponents were very well prepared
But we're still far from being too good to take on games like this
the more you saw a team that was willing to give everything right to the end."
Peter Pacult (Klagenfurt coach): "We had hoped for more before the game
after the lightning start with the nice 1:0 it actually looked good
we gave our opponents too much space and didn't play well in front of the two goals
we showed our true colors and unfortunately only scored the deserved equalizer late on
Fabio Ingolitsch (Altach coach): "A turbulent affair
the pressure from Klagenfurt was too great and the equalizer was somehow on the cards
It's also positive that we were five points behind a few weeks ago
now we go into the qualifying round level on points with GAK."
Robert Klauß (Rapid coach): "We're happy about the win
we're not completely satisfied with the overall situation because we've dropped a few points recently
That hurts all the more on a day like today when you realize what could have been
The game was good and very respectable from a footballing point of view
things went really well from 1-0 at the latest
It was impressive how clearly and confidently we played this game despite the pressure situation
Our job as a coaching team is to always tease out this potential and push ourselves to the limit as often as possible."
Rene Poms (GAK coach): "The defeat is deserved
far too inactive - exactly the opposite of what we set out to do
We didn't make it too difficult for Rapid with a corner goal and a penalty
It's difficult to take anything away from home in Vienna
We simply didn't put up enough of a fight today."
Thomas Letsch (Salzburg coach): "The three points are important
But there are a few things we need to do better in the championship group
but overall we have to become sharper and more effective going forward
If you finish the basic round in third place as Red Bull Salzburg
It will be more exciting than ever and anything is possible
our shortcoming is clearly our effectiveness."
Dietmar Kühbauer (WAC coach): "We were non-existent for the first 45 minutes
Salzburg were clearly the better team and could have scored the second goal
It was our lack of courage that made them strong
We simply weren't ready and attacking enough
We won't admit defeat in the championship group
but it would be presumptuous to say: 'We want to be champions'
We will try to sell our skin as dearly as possible
Jürgen Säumel (Sturm coach): "I'm incredibly happy for the team after a very good performance
We were aggressive against the ball and also had good solutions in possession
We had everything under control until the red card
Markus Schopp (LASK coach): "We don't need to beat around the bush
We didn't manage to become active and didn't play out our transition opportunities well
which gave us the feeling that we had the chance to catch up
But Sturm managed to cause us problems time and again

Nana Kofi Babil in action for his club
Borussia Dortmund thrashed Austrian side Altach 6-0 in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday
Erling Haaland scored twice whilst Giovanni Reyna
Emre Can and Julian Brant also got on the scoresheet at the Stadion Schnabelholz
Manchester United target Jadon Sancho started and played the first half alongside new signing Jude Bellingham before the starting XI were substituted at half-time when the score was 0-3.
Bellingham, who was signed from Birmingham for £22million, linked up with Haaland to set up Reyna for the first goal.
The Norway international added a second from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box.
Then Sancho combined with Bellingham to provide Haaland his second before half time in a swift move.
Eden Hazard's brother Thorgan added a fourth from the penalty spot before Emre Can and Julian Brandt rounded off the scoring.
But all eyes would have been on Sancho whose club are thought to be demanding £108million from United for his services.
The English winger is under contract until 2023 at the Bundesliga giants, who have insisted that he is staying at the club, having set a deadline of August 10 for bids.
United have until the end of the Premier League transfer window on October 5 to sign Sancho for next season but it will be much harder having missed Dortmund's own deadline.
The 20-year-old netted 20 times and produced 20 assists in 44 appearances for Dortmund this season, although he has not been involved in a goal since scoring the first hat-trick of his career against Paderborn on May 31.
