The South Australian government has revealed its latest release of development-ready land
and is looking for developers to take on these sites
The land the South Australian government has just released to the market for the purpose of residential projects is expected to deliver new housing worth at least $720 million
It has also released properties zoned for industrial use that it expects to be worth at least $20 million on completion
An aerial view of suburban homes in Adelaide
This is part of the state’s Developer Ready program
which aims to attract private sector development to land sites that the state has released to the market
several new plots of land in Adelaide’s northern suburbs have been earmarked for housing
The South Australian government also noted that other residential land releases would be soon to follow
those opportunities are set to include a large 1000-home residential development opportunity south of Adelaide on 68 hectares in Onkaparinga Heights
This latest release of new land for housing follows on from last year’s opportunities
The government expects the land released in 2024 will produce housing and industrial projects ultimately worth $2 billion
South Australia’s minister for housing and urban development
said the state was inviting proposals from “local
national and international developers and investors” for the newest plots of land
“South Australia is open for business with a pipeline of development-ready opportunities,” Mr Champion said
He noted the release also included two new industrial opportunities: a 10.35-hectare industrial allotment on Newhaven Road in East Grand Trunkway and a 2.91-hectare industrial allotment on Gidgie Court in Edinburgh
The newest land releases are part of South Australia's Developer Ready program
the Property Council’s SA executive director described the parcels of land that had been released as “desperately needed” and noted that if done well
the resulting developments would deliver a substantial economic benefit
“South Australia has a bright future ahead but for the state to fulfill its potential the government and industry must work together like never before
Developing these parcels of land to their best and highest use will deliver jobs
economic growth and attract much needed capital to the state,” Mr Djite said

CAPTAIN Jordan Dawson has booted three goals to inspire Adelaide to a 60-point thrashing of a lacklustre Carlton
Dawson was instrumental in the Crows' 16.14 (110) to 7.8 (50) victory at Adelaide Oval on Saturday with 22 disposals
CROWS v BLUES Full match coverage and stats
Adelaide (5-3) climbed to fourth on the ladder as the Blues' bubble burst – after three consecutive wins, they nurse a 3-5 win-loss record in 13th spot.
Dawson set Adelaide's tone with a dominant 11-disposal opening quarter while Josh Worrell produced an outstanding defensive display.

Worrell collected 23 disposals and took seven marks while Adelaide's attackers flourished with Darcy Fogarty, Ben Keays, Josh Rachele, Izak Rankine and Alex Neal-Bullen slotting two goals each.
Carlton, never in the hunt after conceding five goals to two in the opening term, were well-served by skipper Patrick Cripps (24 touches) and George Hewett (25) in the midfield.
But with Adelaide's Worrell ruling in defence, the Blues' attack was smothered – the visitors couldn't manage consecutive goals until the dying stages of the game, though Cripps, Charlie Curnow and Corey Durdin booted two apiece overall.
The Crows began briskly, booting 5.2 to 2.4 in an opening term propelled by Dawson's ball-gathering.
Adelaide forward Neal-Bullen converted two set shots and the home side cashed in on having 32 more disposals than the Blues for the quarter.
Carlton reduced its deficit to 13 points one minute into the second term with a trademark Curnow strike from long range.
But the Crows then resumed control by kicking the next three goals – the last in the burst, Dawson from a tight angle on the siren, gave the hosts a 33-point half-time lead.
Adelaide sliced the Blues in space, with Carlton minus 59 in uncontested possessions at the break – their worst first half differential in the statistic since 2019.
And while Carlton's Durdin booted two majors in the third term, the Crows added five more – three in an eye-catching three minutes late in the quarter capped by classy finishes from Rachele and Rankine.
Adelaide held a commanding 52-point break at three-quarter time, 13.10 to 5.6, before closing out victory and kicking 100 or more points for the fifth time in eight games.
Captain's stunnerJordan Dawson had already enjoyed a dominant first half at the Adelaide Oval when he delivered a massive moment on half-time. Pushed forward, he took a great mark on the stretch in the pocket before slotting a brilliant goal from the boundary as the siren sounded, extending the Crows' lead to 33 points. Dawson had 14 disposals, two goals, five tackles, three clearances and six score involvements in the first half.

Adelaide Captain Jordan Dawson is expecting crosstown rival Port Adelaide to put up a strong challenge when the sides face off in Showdown 57 on Saturday.
The Crows are set to enter the clash with confidence after a 60-point win against Carlton, while Port Adelaide went down to the Western Bulldogs by 90 points in Round Eight.
Speaking at a joint captain’s press conference on Monday, Dawson said the sides’ form heading into the game wouldn’t count for much, with the game to be hard-fought.
“It’s going to be a great game, we respect them highly and look forward to the battle," Dawson said.
“We obviously were in a similar position this time last week after the Freo game, so we’ll be very wary of Port responding and they always respond well.
“Especially in weeks like this you don’t buy into that form stuff because on their day they can come out and beat anyone and so can we, so we expect them at their best.
“No matter where the team is on the ladder, we know it’s going to be a good contest and we are expecting that and we’ll bring it as well.”
Adelaide made four changes to the team ahead of its eventual win against the Blues.
Mitch Hinge (suspension), Nick Murray (knee), Matt Crouch (hip), and Sid Draper (omitted) were out of the line-up.
Veteran defender Brodie Smith was called upon, as was Jordon Butts and Sam Berry, while Darcy Fogarty returned from injury.
Dawson said the changes highlighted the squad’s strong depth, an area the Club had prided itself on this year.
“We are a completely different team this year, we’ve got some new guys who have come in and some guys who have stepped up as well,” Dawson said.
“I’m really proud of Smithy for the way he’s gone about it this year and I’m not surprised he was able to come in and play his role the way he did.
“Sam Berry is probably playing the best footy of his career and he came in as sub and impacted for us. Buttsy was once our number one key defender and he’s had to fight for his spot.
“We've definitely got depth, so when we have injuries, and every club does, we are able to bring guys in who can perform at a really high level.”

Becoming the global champion of cosplay is still sinking in for Clare Beaton, otherwise known as Henchwench.
The self-described nerd took out the title at one of the biggest pop culture conventions in the United States, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, in April, dressed as hunky 300-year-old elf Halsin from the video game Baldur’s Gate 3.
“It’s kind of the world’s best cosplay crafters all in one space,” explained Beaton, from the Adelaide-based costume and prop-making studio Hench & Scrap.
“Then we won… I think I was just honestly stunned.”
Cosplay involves dressing up as characters from films, books and video games – often in costumes that feature obsessive levels of detail.
It’s a relatively small movement in Australia when compared to the US and Japan, but local cosplayers have been making an impact internationally.
Beaton’s winning Halsin outfit included silicon prosthetic elf ears and facial scars, a glowing lantern with flexible resin spikes and shoulder pieces constructed from more than 100 individually embossed leather leaves.
She said she felt a connection to the seven-foot-tall polyamorous game character, who has the power to transform into a bear, due to Halsin’s kindness and affinity with nature.
She completed the project in her spare time over about two years, using skills that ranged from metalwork to resin moulding, 3D printing, leatherwork and sewing.
Video game costume design is an unusual niche but also a growing industry, Beaton says. This picture: Matt Turner/AAP
In October, the Halsin costume helped her take out the Australian Cosplay Central Crown Championships title for a second time at the nation’s biggest gaming convention, PAX Aus.
That win came with a ticket to represent the nation at the US event.
Subscribe for updatesBeaton is well aware that from the outside, cosplayers can seem obsessive and eccentric.
But for her, it’s the antidote to a more widespread pop-culture fandom that is based in consumerism.
“You can be creative and contribute back to fandom, and express something you love through doing something constructive,” she said.
Her cosplay artistry has taken years to develop after getting her start at 14, working alongside her father at the renowned special effects and animation studio Weta FX.
Her first job was working on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, but she soon found the film industry too specialised for her unique combination of skills.
In 2016, she met her business and life partner Oarin Tremont – otherwise known as Scrap – at a gaming convention, where they bonded over their cosplay outfits from the same video game, Overwatch.
Having realised they could make a living creating costumes and props, the couple moved from Sydney to Adelaide so they could afford a large fabrication workshop with space for their equipment.
Most of the clients at Hench & Scrap are video game companies.
“It’s an unusual niche but it’s definitely a growing industry,” Beaton said.
Subscribe for updates“We’ll build a project and show off on social media how we make things, as part of the marketing.”
Beaton will join the cosplay judging panel at the upcoming PAX Aus convention to be held in Melbourne in October.

The driver was a 34-year-old Victorian man, travelling off-route on North East Road, Chain of Ponds.
Adelaide Hills mother Carly Atkinson was travelling behind the truck with her 8-year-old daughter in the back seat. She captured the incident on her dashcam.
“I thought an accident was imminent,” she told 7NEWS. “I needed to stop this person from killing someone.”
After alerting police, she flagged down the driver on the approach to an intersection. Carly ran to the truck and spoke with the driver.
“I got to the truck and asked if he was ok,” she revealed to 7NEWS.
“He said ‘I’m just a little lost’ so I asked him to turn the truck off so I could hear him properly.
“As soon as he turned the truck off, I opened the door and said he was driving dangerously, and needed to hand me the keys.”
7NEWS reports that Carly took the drivers keys and logbook and handed them to police.
When Big Rigs contacted South Australian Police (SAPOL), they confirmed that the driver tested positive to cannabis and methamphetamine and was given an immediate 24-hour direction not to drive.
The driver also lost his licence for 3 months and was found to have minor work diary breaches.

CARLTON has made three changes for Saturday’s return to Adelaide Oval
In the second of three trips to the weekend’s venue in the 2025 season
the Blues have recalled their three emergencies from last weekend with three forced outs
Jack Silvagni (hand) and Zac Williams (calf) were declared unavailable earlier in the week
while Matthew Cottrell was withdrawn from the trip to Adelaide on Thursday due to an ankle injury that saw him unable to complete main training
His recovery will be assessed early next week
Replacing Silvagni in a key defensive post could be Lewis Young
with the native South Australian performing a crucial utility role for the Blues at multiple stages already in 2025
Lachie Cowan also returns for his first game since Round 4 after making a successful return from a hamstring injury in the VFL last week

CARLTON has gone down to Adelaide by 60 points at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The Crows led from start to finish in front of an animated home crowd, as the Blues were comprehensively outplayed on the road, falling 7.8 (50) to 16.14 (110).
Carlton midfielders George Hewett (25 disposals), Patrick Cripps (24 disposals) and Adam Cerra (22 disposals) worked hard all day, but the Blues couldn't make inroads on the host side, who was fast out of the blocks with five first-quarter goals.
Adam Cerra spoke to Carlton Media following the Round 8 loss to Adelaide.
The Blues slotted their first of the day through captain Cripps following Tom De Koning's handiwork in the ruck, but the Crows swiftly responded through Darcy Fogarty.
This pattern continued throughout the clash, with Carlton unable to boot consecutive goals until the final moments of the game.
Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson gave the Blues headaches with three goals in the win to go with 22 touches, while his team's defence was equally impressive in thwarting Carlton's attempts forward.
The Crows owned the territory from the get-go, their speed and pressure leaving the Blues chasing as they repeatedly burst from centre bounces to score.
Watch the highlights of the Round 8 clash with Adelaide.
The away side did have chances in the first term with numerous inside-50 entries, but could not convert its opportunities, as Adelaide skipped to a 19-point lead at the first break.
Charlie Curnow came out firing in the second quarter with a long-range goal from outside 50 to cut the deficit to just 13 points as the Blues lifted their intensity, but the Crows again took back ascendancy with the next three.
Charlie Curnow goes long from outside 50 and receives a fortuitous bounce on the goal line for a fantastic first major.
Facing a 33-point margin at the main break, Carlton again opened proceedings in the third term through Corey Durdin, as the visitors increased their control on the ball.
However, they again struggled to capitalise on their opportunities, and another three late Crows goals were costly, with the home side's swift ball movement on full display.
By three-quarter time, Adelaide's lead had dragged out to 52 points, before extending that out to the eventual 60-point margin at the final siren.
Backline duo Jacob Weitering and Nick Haynes worked tirelessly in defence, but the Crows proved too strong all over the ground.
Durdin finished the day with two goals, as did Curnow and Cripps, who both booted their second majors late in the game.

Adelaide Oval hosts a compelling clash between the Crows and Carlton
thriving in contested possessions and clearances
Their ability to move the ball quickly from defence into attack has been a key feature
translating to plenty of scoring opportunities
particularly in clearances and contested ball
but they've struggled with disposal efficiency
This inconsistency has sometimes led to turnovers
the Blues have been better in recent weeks but face a tough test against the Crows’ potent forward line
Adelaide’s strength lies in their ability to control the contest
capitalising on scoring opportunities when they get into attacking positions
Carlton’s inability to maintain clean ball movement and consistency could hurt them against an Adelaide side that thrives on pressure
they’ll need to improve their disposal efficiency and ensure they can handle Adelaide’s dangerous small forwards
their ability to limit Adelaide’s scoring chances will be critical
Adelaide’s home advantage and stronger stats across contested possessions
and inside 50s put them in a good position here
They have the tools to control the game and generate scoring opportunities
and will also be keen to get back onto the winners list
Take the Crows to cover the small spread on their home deck
