Hotelier and developer Patrick McKillen has filed a lawsuit against various members of the Qatari royal family and their business associates alleging racketeering and failure to provide compensation for work done by McKillen on The Maybourne Beverly Hills
District Court for the Central District of California on April 22
who is a citizen of Ireland and the United Kingdom
attorneys for McKillen outline what they call a “lawless plot” constructed by the defendants to deliberately withhold payment from McKillen while continuing to make use of his services
“This complaint alleges in detail how Qatar’s former Emir (HBK) and Prime Minister (HBJ)
along with other senior members of the Royal family and their executives
have defrauded their business partners around the world and used the assets they control
to retaliate against and intimidate those who fight back,” said Michael Gottlieb
McKillen will pursue this suit until the Qatari Royals pay him what his company rightfully earned.”
various members of the Qatari royal family “orchestrated
and participated in a global scheme to defraud their former business partner
[Hume Street Management Consultants Limited (HSMC)].”
The Qatari royals named as defendants in the suit include Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Hamad Bin Abdullah Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani
known as Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa or HBK; Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Bin Mohammed Bin Thani Al Thani
known as Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim or HBJ; and Sheikha Lulwah Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani
Business associates of the Qatari royals named in the suit include Michele Faissola and Marc Socker
both of whom are described in the complaint as “agent[s] of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa [and] Sheikha Lulwah.”
McKillen became involved with what would become the Maybourne Hotel Group in 2004
when he joined a group of investors to acquire shares in the Savoy Group
the group became known as the Maybourne Hotel Group
McKillen sold his shares in 2015 to a company owned by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim
however McKillen continued to work in a developmental capacity on the hotels
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa became interested in purchasing the hotel then called the Montage Beverly Hills in the summer of 2019 in order to turn it into a Maybourne
Socker and Sheikha Lulwah reached out to McKillen to ascertain his interest in participating in the Beverly Hills project
and to gain his opinion as to whether the hotel would be a good investment
McKillen traveled to Qatar to discuss the opportunity in person with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa aboard the latter’s yacht
McKillen described his ideas for the hotel and “gave his commitment to manage and strategically redevelop the hotel.” Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa proceeded with the purchase in December 2019
the suit outlines a series of work performed by McKillen on the hotel
including transitioning the hotel to the Maybourne brand
planning for the hotel’s shops and parking and “navigating local Beverly planning and permitting requirements related to the redevelopment,” including attending City Council meetings and working with the City Manager and then-mayor
McKillen began seeking compensation in June 2021
He allegedly directed his requests to Fassiola
McKillen for the work performed.” When McKillen brought this information to Sheikha Lulwah
McKillen’s lawsuit claims that this refusal to pay continued until the present day
with the defendants seeming to indicate that they would pay him at various times and then failing to do so
The complaint alleges that the defendants decided at some point during their work with McKillen not to pay him
kept that decision a “secret” and continued to utilize McKillen’s services knowing that they did not plan to compensate him
In addition to the Maybourne Beverly Hills
McKillen’s complaint alleges that the defendants failed to compensate him for similar work on The Maybourne Riviera and Îlot Saint-Germain in France and a personal home of Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim’s in Manhattan
McKillen has filed additional claims in the U.K

Kiss legend Gene Simmons has made a name for himself with his outrageous behaviour but his latest U-turn could take the cake
Gene Simmons is offloading his $US14 million ($A21.9 million) Beverly Hills mansion — but he’s got some strict rules for prospective buyers
purchased the four-bedroom property in 2021 for $US10.5 million so he and his wife
could have a residence in California after relocating to Las Vegas
According to Realtor

leaving them with little use for their Beverly Hills mansion
The home is already facing a limited pool of prospective buyers

Police say they "strongly believe" a body found in a burnt-out car in Sydney’s south-west overnight is linked to a violent home invasion and kidnapping reported earlier that evening.
A woman's body has been found inside a burnt-out car following a violent kidnapping in Sydney’s south-west.
Emergency crews were called to Welfare Avenue North in Beverly Hills at about 11.30pm following reports of a car fire.
Fire and Rescue crews extinguished the blaze, which led to the discovery of a body in the back seat.
Detective Superintendent Rodney Hart said the body was "severely burnt" beyond recognition as he spoke at a media conference on Friday.
Officers had only an hour earlier been called to a Bankstown home following reports that a 45-year-old woman had been kidnapped.
Investigators were informed several masked people broke into the family home, allegedly armed with a firearm.
Supt Hart said the group of up to five men were dressed in black with their faces covered.
They arrived in a number of vehicles before seriously assaulting the woman and forcing her into a vehicle, then driving her away.
"She was kidnapped and forced into the back seat of a dark-coloured SUV," Supt Hart said.
An eight-year-old boy, the woman's son, was also "severely assaulted and hit" in the head with a baseball bat by one of the men.
An 15-year-old boy, who is also her son, was at home at the time.
"Ambulance and paramedics treated the young child at the scene and both children were taken to hospital for care," Supt Hart confirmed.
The younger child has since undergone surgery for major head injuries and is in an induced coma.
Supt Hart said the welfare and security of the children is "paramount".
He said the father of the children lives at the Bankstown address, but was interstate at the time and is returning to Sydney to "support his two children and assist police with inquiries".
Police say they believe the kidnapping incident was targeted, and not a random attack.
“The level of violence is unheard of but I want to reassure the community that we strongly believe that this is a targeted incident and that this is not a random kidnapping," Supt Hart said.
Police established a crime scene on the Beverly Hills street where the car was found as they work to investigate the circumstances around the incident.
While the body is currently unidentifiable, police "strongly believe" it was the 45-year-old woman and mother to the two children.
Anyone with information on the incident has been urged to come forward.

I am all about being kind to ourselves, but like most of us, there are parts of myself that I can put under the microscope and worry about
For me, it’s my brows. I lament that they’re not thick enough in this era of full arches
Mine also don’t give natural fluffiness to match up with the current thick and bushy ideals
Some of this is possibly my own doing. Having lived through the thin brow era of Kate Moss back in the 90s, teeny brows were hot and tweezing to distraction was as normal a beauty habit as applying mascara
I don’t always get to the professionals in a timely manner – so I have had to learn how to literally put my best brows forward with clever brow trickery
and queen of brows for countless A-listers (Oprah
Cindy Crawford and Kim Kardashian are all personal friends of Soare) I am keen to meet and
glean her for any brow intel I haven’t picked up as a beauty journalist over the years
We meet at the Park Hyatt in Sydney and Soare – who is equal parts fabulous
fun and beauty boss – answered all my burning brow questions
In short: Yes “thick and fluffy brows that look natural” are what we’re all still after
The thick solid brows of five years ago are dead
We should leave our brow maintenance to the professionals
And many of us are guilty of over-tweezing
“Majority of women over-tweeze their eyebrows,” says Soare
“Many are guilty of that.” Not just me then
Anastasia also did my brows in a way that no one has ever done them before
Proving her brow chops, after my session with Soare using her cult-status Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products
They literally changed the shape of my face and I looked younger instantly
“What I like about your eyebrows is that you still have a beautiful arch,” Soare tells me as she worked away at building fullness
It’s a comment that made me look at my brows with new appreciation – perhaps they’re not that bad after all
It also dawned on me that the way we perceive ourselves can be quite different to how others do
there is always a few well-placed flicks of a brow pencil to even things up.)
which is a brow pencil to create hair-like strokes
BrowFreeze Gel or our Brow Wax are also great for defining and thickening brows.”
“If you are the type of person that doesn’t have much time in the morning
It’s a three in one and it’s very easy to use to get full brows fast.”
If you have thick brows: “If you have fuller eyebrows
you need a highlighter and a clear brow gel just to hold them and keep them together.”
Enlist a brush (and know how to use it): “Brow brushes are so important
that’s why whenever I bring out a product
use the spatula end of the brow brush and take very little bit into the lid
then don’t put it directly onto your brows
instead brush it into your brows using the brush
You want to create little hairs to fill the brow and create the arch.”
Find out what works for you: “Less is better and it’s all about placement
You want it to look natural so don’t try it for the first time right before you go out
Trim but only when required: “I trim but only one [hair]
Highlighter is your best brow friend: “You don’t need to worry if you haven’t created a straight line [of baby hairs using your pencil]
because then we go with the highlighter and clean it all up.”

Two titans of the design world have joined forces to create a new vision for one of the most famous corners of Rodeo Drive. It will take shape as a new Louis Vuitton flagship designed by acclaimed architect Frank Gehry
the flagship will span the block bounded by Rodeo Drive
South Santa Monica Boulevard and Beverly Drive
has owned the site since 2018 and has partnered with the city for decades to enhance the global profile of Rodeo Drive
LVMH Maisons comprise at present more than 15 storefronts on Rodeo Drive and the greater Business Triangle
The new Louis Vuitton project is transcendent
it will break through the boundaries of traditional retail into the full “Louis Vuitton lifestyle.” In addition to diverse product lines
it will house the first permanent exhibition space for Louis Vuitton in the U.S
That feature will highlight the brand’s influential global role as a touchstone not only of design
Choosing an icon such as Frank Gehry for the project’s architectural concept further cements that status
One of the most important architects of our time
Gehry’s body of work includes the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain
the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris
He is the recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize
the National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom
But it is his designs that speak the most eloquently
Gehry’s works are renowned for incorporating materials such as stainless steel and titanium and the use of sculptural or undulating exteriors to make them landmarks of postmodernism
The design for the Louis Vuitton flagship bears the Gehry signature
As the Courier can exclusively reveal in an exterior rendering
the design features a dynamic light-colored façade of sleekly angled curves
Interiors of the project will be completed under the supervision of architect Peter Marino
who helmed the Cheval Blanc Beverly Hills project originally proposed for the site
According to documents filed with the city of Beverly Hills
the new flagship will include a 45,000-square-foot retail space fronting Rodeo Drive featuring three levels dedicated to products such as Women’s and Men’s collections
The rooftop level will include private spaces for clients
as well as a rooftop garden terrace that extends across the two buildings
An entrance on Beverly Drive will lead to the exhibition or hospitality space of 55,000 square feet
It will include one level featuring a café and exhibition lobby
two levels dedicated to the exhibition space and the rooftop level with a 100-seat restaurant and open-air terrace
Sources tell the Courier that decisions have yet to be made as to the chef and type of cuisine affiliated with the restaurant
but it will be an indoor-outdoor establishment to take advantage of the Southern California weather
Construction work on the Louis Vuitton flagship is slated to begin in early 2026
It is undergoing the normal Development Plan Review process for code-compliant buildings in the Triangle
The project stays within the allowable floor area and height limits typically applied in the area
“This version of the LVMH luxury project will be a real asset for the community,” Mayor Sharona Nazarian told the Courier
“The new retail and the amenities will appeal both to residents and visitors alike
I am especially pleased that this project will bring Frank Gehry’s iconic and unique design to our Business Triangle.”
Louis Vuitton is currently in the process of providing additional information in response to a comment letter received from the city in late March
Among the items requested are additional details about the construction process
The parties are also discussing the project’s operational parking needs and a proposal to use mechanical stackers
Due to AB 2097 (pertaining to new developments within a half-mile radius of major transit stops)
Next steps include an internal Planning Division staff analysis
followed by a report from the CEQA consultant
Hearing dates before the Planning Commission will ensue
is to reach the Planning Commission hearing stage with a proposal that is both practical and workable
Construction is expected to commence in 2026

The home’s elegant interior showcases a double-height entry foyer with a hand-painted coffered ceiling and crystal chandelier.
The staircase serves as the centrepiece of this grand entrance
with ornate double doors welcoming visitors into the residence
On either side of the foyer are a 12-seat dining room and a sunken living room with a fireplace.
The great room features a steel-framed glass wall that opens to a covered loggia
creating a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience
The all-white kitchen comes equipped with high-end stainless steel appliances

The longtime 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star admits that it’s "very difficult" to have "the world weighing in on analyzing things" on the show
There have been mixed reviews about the future of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Season 14 created more questions than answers, and fans were once again left hanging. And even though nobody loves change, for the franchise, it feels that a recast is necessary if the RHOBH series wants to stay at the top of its game.

It seems that significant changes are coming to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. A source close to production spoke out to OK! Magazine about what could be tweaked ahead of Season 15
“There are absolutely going to be changes to the current cast
some of which will shock fans.” The RHOBH insider added
and another person is going to be downgraded to a friend — at least that’s the current word on the street
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Garcelle Beauvais (@garcelle)
Directly after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, Garcelle Beauvais announced she was leaving the show
but it’s been a ride never the less.” The actor stated she would be leaving in order to be closer to her family
She also noted she had big career ventures coming up
“I have the most exciting projects that I am developing
producing and acting in — and I can’t tell you anything right now
Garcelle’s choice to leave rocked the boat as no one saw it coming. The Coming to America star actually had a decent season. She tried to hold Bozoma Saint John and Dorit Kemsley accountable for their actions against Sutton Stracke
But it seems she got tired of the mean girl attitude that was always thrown her way
I think Garcelle’s exit caused Bravo to think about a possible recast sooner than expected
Kyle also seems to have grown tired of her part on the show. Her forehead vein popped out more times than I can count during Season 14. And I doubt the heat will be off her if she sticks around for Season 15. She had some really good storylines if she had just stuck with them. Whether it be her separation from Mauricio Umansky or her relationship with Morgan Wade
But Kyle seems determined to keep all her skeletons in the closet
there is no place for a full closet on Bravo
so I’d say it’s time for Kyle to pack her bags and hit the road
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland

married Ginny Weasley and is still best friends with Ron Weasley and his wife
They are very busy with their grown-up jobs
except for Ron who still runs the family joke shop
They are now the establishment and tasked with maintaining order so that all residents will remain safe and sound
something they fought so diligently for in the past
Harry wants only the best for his son Albus Severus
both of whom died saving him from Voldemort
This would be a heavy burden for anyone to carry
who is struggling with his identity as the son of the savior
Albus resents his father and his father’s achievements
Albus struggles with his schoolwork and is not in the least athletic
not the least because Albus is suffering from a massive case of teenage angst and resentment
something that is greatly exacerbated when he is shoved onto the magical train to Hogwarts with the Weasley’s daughter Rose
First order of business—making friends—easier for Rose than for Albus
son of Harry’s old school nemesis Draco Malfoy
Scorpius is as unlike his father as Albus is from Harry
he also suffers from a massive lack of self-confidence
lack of friends and the inability to be quiet when silence is called for
much to the chagrin of their respective fathers
Albus’ desire is to be assigned to Harry’s old house at school
Gryffindor; his nightmare is that the Sorting Hat will choose Slytherin Hall
Harry told Albus to wish very hard for the house he wants
and the remaining professors have set a high bar for him
It doesn’t help that Harry visits too often

Albus is elated to discover that this device exists and enlists Scorpius to go on a mission with him
find Cedric and change the circumstances so he doesn’t die
and you don’t have to be one to foresee this future
is well aware of the ripple effect that changing one event in the past has on the present
And thus “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is on its merry way
With plenty of adventure for the rapt preteens in the audience
this is basically a story of adolescent angst and teenage conflict with a controlling parent
Something has to give or catastrophe will ensue
by masterful playwright Jack Thorne (“The Motive and the Cue”)
does best is segue nicely from 20 or so years in the past to the present while breathing believable life into characters you knew and loved from the books and creating their new
realistic offspring with their own “worldly” problems in the present
the possible consequences chilling and the mischief of immature teens is believable
There are rigged props and unseen wires that dangle the actors like puppets and robes and actors are whisked off and on before your eyes
It’s quite entrancing and always surprising
Sometimes the actors stand still as the stage circulates
and sometimes it is the actors that glide in well-choreographed movement that flows seamlessly
becoming more a focus than was probably intended
His development from awkward to more self-confident (but still incredibly gawky) is heartwarming in ways that the others fail to achieve
Harry (John Skelley) and Albus (Emmet Smith) are a bit too one-note
more than three times wider than the stage of the Lyric Theatre in New York or the Palace Theatre in London where it premiered
This expanse eliminates a sense of intimacy
necessary to make the audience feel as if they were part of the show and the action
but this is an improvement over the version I saw when this play was presented in two parts
the first being two hours and 40 minutes and the second
When the producers had to shut down during the pandemic
they realized that the play needed to be cut down
not just because Part II was almost superfluous
The play was overburdened and condensing “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” into a single evening’s entertainment benefited both the story and the audience
this play is almost incomprehensible unless you’ve read the books
My husband was totally unacquainted with the “Harry Potter” saga; he didn’t even know who Voldemort was
so a quick cheat sheet was necessary at intermission
He very much appreciated the effects but was lost with the story
It is a shame that the producers didn’t think to provide a summary of the story in the Playbill
I retrieved my program from the Palace Theatre
and the first few pages reprised the books and gave an excellent glossary to the ancillary characters mentioned in the play
from Death Eaters to the Ministry of Magic
from Muggles to Mudbloods and portkeys to Bellatrix Lestrange
the Playbill of the Pantages was remarkably short on information
Surely they could have sprung for another couple of pages for summary information
there are actually people out there who never entered Harry’s world before this
Unknown to me there is a website— Harry Potter Resources—that explains it all
take the time to gaze at the double ceiling laden with Art Deco adornments with a huge chandelier and sculptural triangles meant to evoke sunrays
The grand lobby is even more impressive both above your head and beneath your feet
There are painted panels and faux Egyptian statues throughout
its beauty is sure to rub off on this young generation of theatergoers after they see this imaginative story of a grown-up Harry Potter struggling with the adolescence of one of his children

The GU Film House cinema with a Sydney Greek connection is no more
On January 27, GU Filmhouse Beverly Hills, in Sydney, affectionately known as ‘Bevo cinema’ to many locals, ceased trading. The one-time Greek owned cinema complex will be a void hard to fill for locals and especially Greeks.
The Tsagias family (Jane and Jim Tsagias,) owned the site from the 1980s to 2009, when it was the Beverly Hills Twin. The cinemas roared with all the big hits, Aussie movies and also as an outlet for Greek films.
Sydney’s Greek community came here for movies that took us back to Greece or were made by Greek filmmakers. King Otto, Βασιλιάς Όττο, about the 2004 Euro glory for the Greek football team, screenings of Maria Callas’ life, the critically acclaimed Alex Lykos Me & My Left Brain film or for the Mykonos: the other side film night; just some of the movies that featured.
The Mykonos extravaganza played with Lesvos: Fall in Love, was MC’d by Alex Lykos and Ana Sevo, formerly of Meraki Tv. The extravaganza featured three sold out cinemas, Greek music by Tassos Bouzouki and served as the 50th birthday for the late, Mykonos and Bay Vista maestro, Tekno Manos.
I always remember what Tekno said to me that night, “thanks for this Billy…. we are at a Greek home.”
If anyone knew Greek hospitality, it was Tekno. That night we were looked after by cinema manager Costas Meligonis.
Costas worked as the manager from 2010-2022, was always kind to those who visited the cinema, and a delight to work with when Greek events were held at the location. His enthusiasm for Greece, Greek columns on Greek film nights and movies in general meant that GU Film House was an easy fit for the community.
Numerous events were hosted by the Greek Festival of Sydney and by Toula Vagelatos, who made sure locals experienced My Big Fat Greek Wedding film events and other movies from the Greek world.
Toula was also the main reason, along with Tekno, for movies such as Mykonos selling out.
Costas explained to me that the cinema opened originally in 1940; its popularity on King George’s Road led to a six-cinema complex by 2009. Prior to that, it was called the Beverly Hills Twin. Costas worked at the cinema from his teenage years in the 1990s.

Ferrari, Supercars
A YouTuber observing the delivery of a $2.5 million Ferrari Daytona SP3 supercar in Beverly Hills saw a bit of a ‘whoops’ moment as the car was delivered
YouTuber effspot saw the all-black Ferrari come off its trailer
with the SP3 being one of the most recent models to come from Maranello
The minor whoops moment certainly made the delivery more interesting
especially given the high value of the Italian supercar
there were still plenty of chances to admire the supercar in its gorgeous all-black color and appreciate it for the supercar it is
DISCOVER OUR SUPERCAR AUCTION SITE – View live auctions on SBX Cars
The actual unloading of the supercar from its trailer seemed to go very smoothly
with its black paintwork gleaming in the sun
It was as the car was turned around that the small ‘whoops’ moment then occurred, captured by effspot
As the driver maneuvered the supercar
a slight scraping sound could be heard as it rode onto the sidewalk
The person behind the wheel had scraped the underbody of the Ferrari
That isn’t ideal with the car costing $2.5 million
the driver seemed to brush it off and drive the car away
Production of the Ferrari Daytona SP3 recently concluded
Its one of Ferrari’s most recent models
and one of the best thanks to its massive V12 engine
Ferrari added the SP3 to the ‘Icona’ series of cars
and Maranello will only ever build 499 of them
it’s certainly not an affordable daily driver
The Daytona SP3 is also a historically significant car for the manufacturer
limited car without hybrid systems since the Enzo of 2002
If the delivery driver has damaged the SP3 in the video
they might find themselves left with slightly emptier pockets than before
