Construction of the new Coomera Hospital is progressing steadily
with major structural milestones achieved in recent months
The new Coomera Hospital is a state-of-the-art health care facility designed to cater to the growing population of the northern Gold Coast corridor
reducing pressure on Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital

The first concrete slab pours to support the state-of-the-art facility commenced in December 2024
covering an impressive 500 square metres and will continue through this quarter
Construction is progressing well with inground services installation ongoing and the first four concrete pours completed for the main hospital building ground slab
which will form the base of the main hospital building
Pre-cast columns and pre-cast lift and stair cores are being installed with four of the concrete stair and lift cores already visible from the M1
Each core is made up of 38 individual cubes
the main hospital will feature nine in total
The detailed design for the new Coomera Hospital is well progressed
with feedback from the final round of Project User Group meetings now being incorporated to inform the final design components
An Arts Working Group has progressed the art selection process for the hospital
along with consultation with a First Nations Consultant to progress the commissioning of artist for all First Nations and other art installation opportunities for the hospital
The commissioning of all artists will look to be complete by end of 2025
Coomera Hospital is part of the Queensland Government’s Capacity Expansion Program (CEP)
which includes three new hospitals and major expansions at 11 facilities across the state

The Australian and Queensland Governments have been making strides on the Coomera Connector between Brisbane and the Gold Coast
with major construction milestones delivered across all three packages of the project
More than one million working hours have been clocked by crews on the Stage 1 North package
with some significant achievements reached
The almost one kilometre-long bridge that spans the Coomera River
Hope Island Road and Saltwater Creek is rapidly taking shape
with 350 bridge girders installed and 13 bridge deck concrete pours completed
Further installations will begin from mid September on the 50 girders required for the overpass and pedestrian bridges over Helensvale Road
Crews have also laid more than 1,500 metres of asphalt
including the first section of the main motorway alignment near McPhail Road and in areas for future widening around the Helensvale Road interchange and Shipper Drive

Significant progress is being made on Queensland’s future motorway, with several milestones achieved across the project.
More than 1 million working hours have been clocked by crews on the Stage 1 North package.
The almost 1km bridge that spans the Coomera River, Hope Island Road and Saltwater Creek is rapidly coming together with 350 bridge girders installed and 13 bridge deck concrete pours completed so far.
Further installations will begin from mid-September on the 50 girders required for the overpass and pedestrian bridges over Helensvale Road.
Crews have also been busy laying more than 1,500m of asphalt, including the first section of the main motorway alignment near McPhail Road and in areas for future widening around the Helensvale Road interchange and Shipper Drive.
While bridge construction and asphalt laying continues in these areas, work will also begin to ramp up in the next six months for the Coomera Link Road section, where a new signalised intersection will be installed at the Foxwell Road and Shipper Drive roundabout.

The pair, who were both known to the girl, are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher from the Gold Coast District vulnerable persons unit said the investigation had been one of the most “heart-wrenching and complex we’ve had to conduct”.
“From the moment the investigation commenced, our priority has been to seek justice for this innocent child, who was tragically failed by those known to her.
“It is deeply distressing to investigate the death of any child, but the circumstances surrounding this case have been particularly confronting for our officers.
“Our detectives have worked diligently, using every resource available to ensure we could bring this investigation to a close and ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law.”
Detective Inspector Fletcher also acknowledged the impact the case has had on the community and those close to the victim.
“We understand the grief and pain this has caused the community, and we hope these arrests bring some level of comfort to those who knew and loved this young girl. While nothing can undo the tragic loss of life, we are committed to ensuring justice is served.”

She’s also already experienced in leading major health care projects
including the monumental move from the old Southport Hospital to the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH).
I'm a registered nurse with a background in surgical nursing and have been with Gold Coast Health for over 20 years
I began as a fresh graduate in the casual pool
diving into various wards and gaining experience across a range of settings
I made my mark as the youngest Nurse Unit Manager in the Hospital and Health Service (HHS) by 26.
I stepped into the project space after starting my family
