Cornubia Social media identity Troy ‘Candy’ Williams lists $3m Gold Coast home Gold Coast Suns boss Bob East scores $5.3m mansion sale “It was one of the easiest sales of my career,” Mr Strudwick said “The buyers fell in love with it instantly “She loved Margaux’s well thought out finishes and the husband loved Corey’s car sheds and home gym set-up.” Corey Parker’s home gym set-up is impressive The breakfast radio host and former Broncos player had lived on the property with their four children for the past nine years The buyers of the property were impressed with the accommodation for vehicles Records show the couple paid $1.21m for the 6,800 sqm property in 2014 a master retreat with a large dressing room and walk-in wardrobe The property sits on a huge 6,800 sqm of land they have decided it’s time to move on to their next property project who is one third of Triple M Brisbane’s The Big Breakfast said the couple was in the process of buying another home in the same area THE tranquillity and friendly neighbourhood drew Rian and Wendy Gaffy to Cornubia More than 20 years later, the couple are looking to sell their family home at 85 Trudy Crescent to be closer to their children Mr Gaffy said the two-storey house with five bedrooms an outdoor entertaining area and in-ground pool has been the ideal place to grow their family “It’s been a great place for our kids to grow up from an early age up to their teens,” Mr Gaffy said He said the 1699sq m block of land had a lot to offer including large bedrooms with polished timber floors and plenty of undercover parking spaces including a double car shed and shade sail which has always been good with the kids and their cars,” Mr Gaffy said They have made some slight changes over the years to maintain the property including repainting and renovating the bathrooms and kitchen Mr Gaffy said it was centrally located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast with schools shops and public transport close by but that did not affect the peacefulness of the area “We’re pretty close to everything but it is still quiet,” Mr Gaffy said “It’s nice and tranquil – a little bit of heaven in Cornubia “We get possums and koalas – it’s just a really nice spot.” He said the friendly neighbours have made it feel like a safer place to live “Everybody keeps an eye on everybody’s place when they go away,’ Mr Gaffy said He said home in 2005 for the views and space on offer “It’s on the highest point within 20-30km and it has amazing views,” Mrs Clunies-Ross said “It’s a beautiful house but it was the views that sold us “I particularly love the view from the fourth floor It overlooks the south side of Brisbane and you can watch absolutely spectacular sunsets from up there.” On the ground floor of the home there is a four-car garage On the second level there is a master bedroom with private balcony built-in robe and ensuite along with three bedrooms with built-in robes On the third floor there is an open-plan home the bathrooms all feature marble tiling and a striking spiral staircase connects the different levels Outside there is an in-ground pool and cubby house for the kids One of the bathrooms at 11/103 Anakie Drive Mrs Clunies-Ross said her favourite part of the home was the top level where her children could watch movies or play pool on the billiards table while the adults could soak in the spa or enjoy the view The property is being marketed by John Jessop and Ben Ive of Elders Logan Cornubia was the highest selling property in Cornubia since December 2014 A CORNUBIA home has sold for the record price of $1,755,000 not seen in the suburb since December 2014 According to Core Logic, the sale of 65 Daintree Rd, was the highest recorded residential house sale, since a home on a double block sold in the same street in 2014 for $1,875,000 when a buyer paid $1,410,000 for 44 Cooberrie St The home’s multiple entertaining options helped sell it for a record price @realty sales associate Leanne Smith said she was surprised by the amount of cashed up buyers looking to buy in Cornubia in this price range “We had around 25 groups of people through in the 60 days and I was quite surprised how many of them had over a million to spend in the area actually,” Ms Smith said Seller Belinda McDonnell said while she was not surprised the property sold for that amount she was happy with the result The previous owner loved the peace and tranquility of the home “I felt it was worth it because we knew the value of it,” Mrs McDonnell said “We just had to wait for the right people to come along.” Ms Smith said it only took 60 days for that buyer to appear who would move from an inner city suburb in search of a lifestyle change Well designed areas included the galley-style kitchen “I believe some of the pricier properties can take longer than that to sell,” she said “I think the other one that had a record price was on the market a couple of years before it sold.” The Riverlakes the go-ahead say they are fully supportive of the plan to demolish one of the 1970s office buildings that surrounds them which has room for around 200 office workers on Victoria Street in Redcliffe concerns. “As a family, we support this planning application,” she said. “The developer has spent a great deal of time trying to ensure that the scheme works for us as publicans, but also for our loyal and wonderful regular customers. “The BBRE team has done a number of things that have helped us as publicans. It has ensured that the pub itself doesn't change; that some existing issues with the building are resolved, including securing planning permission and sharing the cost of a new roof; upgrading the toilets; and providing secure barrel storage within the redevelopment,” she added. Before (front) - The existing Canningford House, taken on Victoria Street(Image: Boultbee Brooks Real Estate (BBRE))“The BBRE team didn't shy away from spending time with our locals to hear their concerns - and dealt with the situation very politely, followed through on the commitments they made, and came back to explain the outcomes. “Currently we have a much-loved, informal garden, which feels like an oasis in a busy city centre. Our customers feel very protective of the garden. Because the historic Long Row needs to be reinstated, that means a pedestrian route will go right through the middle of our garden. “However, we've worked with BBRE’s team to ensure the size of our new garden is as large as possible, that there is no reduction in the numbers of outside seats, that there is a covered area, and that planting and fencing is used to help recreate the intimate feeling of our current garden,” she added. If councillors approve that the new Canningford House is built, it will provide modern office space for 432 workers - more than twice the number who can currently work there. After (front) - How the new Canningford House would look behind the protected London Plane trees on Victoria Street(Image: Boultbee Brooks Real Estate (BBRE))‌The plan is also backed by the Redcliffe and Temple Business Improvement District, which represents more than 400 local businesses. “We support sustainable developments of existing office stock within the city centre. From a commercial perspective we would class the planned redevelopment of Canningford House as a positive contribution to the Redcliffe and Temple area which would help attract new businesses and retain existing jobs,” a BID spokesperson said. Councillors will decide on the scheme next Wednesday, October 23. Asian interest in Queensland’s retail property market is heating up, with a private Asian investor acquiring the Woolworths Cornubia shopping centre in South East Queensland for $38.25 million. The acquisition closely follows the sale of the Central Park Shopping Centre in Brisbane’s southern suburb of Calamvale to a private consortium of local and offshore Chinese investors for $9.65 million. The transaction also follows Woolworths’ sale of the Woolworths and Masters centre in the Brisbane suburb of Everton Park to Singaporean real estate investment managers Rockworth Capital Partners for $70 million. The sales of both the Cornubia and Everton Park centres are in line with Woolworths’ ongoing divestment of neighbourhood shopping centres. As part of its capital management program, the underperforming supermarket giant appointed CBRE late last year to market several neighbourhood shopping centres. Since then it has also sold two centres in Victoria – the Woolworths centre at Selandra Rise in Melbourne’s south for $20.13 million and the Woolworths centre at Seville for $20.19 million. “New Coles and Woolworths centres are being well received and are achieving tight yields at or better than 6%,” CBRE’s Peter Rossi says. “The purchasers are more often than not private investors who are capitalising on the very high deprecation benefits these assets offer, which make the income stream very tax effective.” Banyo Village is anchored by a 20-year lease to Woolworths. The newly-developed Woolworths Cornubia shopping centre, which is situated in Logan City in the South East Queensland growth corridor between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, was sold on a net yield of 6%, with the sale price reflecting $5707 per square metre. CBRE says the expressions of interest campaign for the property, which comprises the new 5309sqm neighbourhood shopping centre along with a 1393sqm medical and professional centre, attracted bids from more than 10 local and offshore buyer groups. The next test of investor interest in Queensland’s retail investment market will involve the Banyo Village neighbourhood shopping centre, which is also anchored by Woolworths. Another newly-developed centre, the Banyo site was acquired from Woolworths by national building company Adco, which subsequently developed the neighbourhood centre based on a 20-year lease to the supermarket giant. The centre, which is located 15km north-east of the Brisbane CBD, offers fully-leased net annual rental of about $2.07 million and a WALE of 15.1 years. “The attraction for purchasers is the opportunity to secure an annuity-style income stream, underwritten by nondiscretionary, food-based retailers,” CBRE’s Joe Tynan says. The Banyo centre is anchored by a 3960sqm Woolworths supermarket, with the balance of the centre leased to a complementary mix of 13 service, food and beverage tenants. realcommercial.com.au is owned and operated by ASX-listed REA Group Ltd (REA:ASX) © REA Group Ltd By accessing or using our platform, you agree to our Terms of Use. chooses not to respond Windaroo and parts of Loganholme and Waterford Website: https://www.lnp.org.au/judi-van-manen/ What makes you a good person to represent the people of your electorate?:   met my husband Bert and raised our children here I intrinsically understand the community and will fight everyday to ensure the residents of Macalister have the same opportunities to achieve their hopes and dreams And I can do this because I know and understand what it means to fight for what is right I know and understand the very real issues affecting our community and will bring with me real world experience and strong leadership to the community I have an extensive resume across the private and not-for-profit sectors with over a two decades experience as a business owner Like many in the community of Macalister I and my family have experienced all of these and developed the grit and determination necessary to fight for the services and supports this community needs to achieve its full potential What are the three key election issues in your electorate and how will you address them Crime: Everyday I hear from residents across the electorate how fed up they are with crime in our community While Labor is busy letting criminals off the hook strengthen the judicial system and bail laws introduce youth justice reform and create a Police Child Safety Force operating 24hrs I will establish a Police Hooning Task Force to work with and to enhance the Logan City Council’s Taskforce and install 2 additional CCTV cameras for 24 hour monitoring by Logan City Council at Holmview and Hammel Park in Beenleigh Unemployment/under employment: We will create more jobs by supporting a business-led economic recovery and a wrap around of services to ensure there are jobs at the other of education and training programs prioritising Queensland businesses in Government tenders paying small and family businesses on time creating an economic recovery task force and building the 100% Queensland owned New Bradfield Scheme We will back manufacturing jobs by providing $150 million in support to boost manufacturing in Queensland and work with stakeholders to deliver revitalisation for our community Infrastructure: The LNP will get shovels in the ground on important road and infrastructure projects we so desperately need to get you home sooner and safer We’ll fast-track the Second M1 and ensure no road goes through the EAgleby Wetlands ensure proper community consultation on future road upgrades reduce surgery waiting times with a private/public partnership Profession: Former Corporate Executive and Successful businessman – last 24 years What makes you a good person to represent the people of your electorate Significant business and financial skills; as an independent I will represent the people by listening to them and I will be their voice The people I talk to say they are sick of having their needs ignored  I practice as a mediator in family law and see on a daily basis the impact the failure of our government to listen to the people is having on us and our kids  I believe in community engagement and have the skills and experience to work to ensure the people of Macalister are heard Planning: Tighten neighbourhood plans to end special deals for developers; Overhaul the Planning Act and to ensure all development is ‘Impact Assessable’ and close loopholes; strengthen community rights; Restrict construction noise in neighbourhoods; Ban development in flood-prone areas; Stop the 2nd M1 from dissecting the Eagleby Wetlands; Improve public transport routes and frequency; Introduce a fast rail network secure jobs by banning the use of labour hire for renewable projects and guarantee leave and sick pay for every job Health and Education: Fully fund Queensland state schools and ensure smaller class sizes better resources and no fees; Upgrade state school facilities and build new schools in areas of need; Abolish all school service fees excursion costs and textbook costs; Guarantee all Qld kids under 18 years of age a free season of organised sport every year; Hire 6,500 more nurses and 3,000 more doctors across Queensland adding an additional 21,000 hospital beds;  Establish 200 Community Health Clinics with bulk billing GPs and specialists to take the pressure off our hospitals; Establish a fully self funded public pharmaceutical company that invests profits into research for Queenslanders state and community and I have now had the privilege to serve as a member of parliament for my electorate I believe the experience and professionalism I have demonstrated in over 23 years of uniformed service gives me the discipline and stamina required of such a demanding role I am not someone who can sit on the sidelines and watch I believe in getting in and getting the job done I am always prepared to go into bat for my community and fight for the outcomes we deserve Education is the big equaliser in our community and outcomes shouldn’t be reliant on your postcode Access to good outcomes is heavily reliant on both quality facilities and teaching support I have delivered some of the largest funding spends in Macalister schools in a decade – new buildings I have worked with our school communities and their priorities are my priorities I know from my experience in classrooms that education is not a simple process and ensuring we have a system that continues to foster inclusivity is something I am passionate about your access to services and jobs is dependent on the quality and capacity of roads and transport The state roads in Macalister have previously suffered from being split across multiple electorates with no coherent plan I have brought together a 10 year structured plan for continuous road upgrades the Beenleigh ring-road or Beaudesert-Beenleigh Rd I also acknowledge the role that public transport must play in reducing congestion Between the Cross River Rail project and the SEQ Busway extensions Macalister will become a public transport hub At the cornerstone of Queensland’s economic recovery plan is jobs secure jobs is a key focus of government and mine Locally we will be employing hundreds more frontline service workers – teachers firefighters – and the support staff they need to do their core job We will also support the training opportunities of our trades and service industries The $20m expansion to the Beenleigh Trade Training Centre will mean that locals can receive their training in the most advanced industry-led facility in the country What makes you a good person to represent the people of your electorate?: I’m prompted to stand as the Independent candidate because there is an urgent need for someone to fight for the issues which matter to the people As a local resident for over 40 years and with my experience as the Member of Parliament for Albert (now Macalister) for 11 years I believe I can do a better job in standing up for our area I am a true Independent-my focus will be solely on serving our community not on a political party my decisions will not be influenced by donors What are the three key election issues in your electorate and how will you address them?:  Coomera Connector Road: Labor’s plan for the northern route for the Coomera Connector Road ( second M1) would directly impact the vulnerable system of Eagleby Wetlands The habitat of 281 recorded bird species would be seriously threatened by this 6 lane highway As the Independent Candidate for Macalister I stand strongly with the community who are fighting to stop this route I’m told that there was no community consultation regarding the planned route Residents first heard about it when they received a letter from Main Roads informing them their land was going to be resumed A sustainable alternative route can only be found by listening carefully to residents and environmental experts If elected I will lobby to have this route degazetted so the unique Wetlands are protected for our future generations and to provide certainty for residents Roads: Local roads are heavily congested and not keeping up with growth Consultation: Lack of genuine community consultation means Labor is making decisions for us rather than first listening to residents Examples of this is the rehab drug clinic being located in the main street of Beenleigh and the planned northern route of the Coomera Connector going through Eagleby and its Wetlands I will make community consultation my priority I will conduct regular mobile offices so I am accessible and can listen to people’s concerns My focus will be solely on serving the community rather than a political party Δdocument.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value" The best way to contact The closest building is the local Scout building. It’s like being on acreage, just without the maintenance.” With four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a pool set on an 845-square-metre block for around the $600,000 mark, the house is likely to be popular with families, although Mr Strudwick is expecting a few rubber-neckers at the first open home on Saturday, February 16. “I’m fully expecting a few fans on the weekend, there will definitely be some sticky beaks there,” he laughs. “But we’re OK with that. I think the house’s history will hold some appeal for buyers too — everybody loves to have some sort of connection to someone famous. “It’s a great story to be able to tell to people over cheese and nibbles in your new house after you get the keys.” The house’s layout includes multiple living areas — one with a sunken lounge — renovated kitchen and bathroom and a gate into Anakie Park with a private sitting area. Brisbane CBD, the Gold Coast and the Brisbane Airport are all 30 minutes away. Bristol The Cornubia has been given a new lease of life since award-winning landlords Phil and Jakki took over in 2010 While the pub has been a fixture on Bristol’s real ale scene for decades it’s taken the CAMRA award-winning duo to restore it to its former glory The Cornubia should now be considered something of a hidden gem and not just for the quality and range of beer on offer with the pub’s interior décor offering a heartfelt homage to quality British beer The walls are plastered with pump clips showing just some of the hundreds of obscure ales they’ve had on tap in recent years the ale range is amongst the best in Bristol They claim to never offer the same beer twice – aside from the Cornubian house beers brewed for them by Beer’d – and can get through between 16 and 20 different ales a week As if that wasn’t enough to get the juices flowing they’ve also transformed the scruffy patch of concrete outside into a rather nice beer garden Thanks for subscribing!
