Owners of the 3500-square-metre garden Harry and Alison Zehnwirth called The Oaks "the secret garden"
Harry and Alison Zehnwirth at The Oaks in Lake Wendouree
Picture by Gwen LiuAlthough the garden is located at 8 Gillies Street North
deep driveway paved with white stones between 3 and 5 Crocker Street
"It is very much a hidden area," Ms Zehnwirth said
four more than century-old oak trees will come into view
The Oaks evolved from an earlier European garden at the site from 1856
The first contemporary landscape design was in 1989
built to be a "stroll garden" when the Zehnwirth family bought the site
landscape designer Paddy Milne upgraded the garden to have a "parkland" vibe
Ms Zehnwirth has prepared a "cheat sheet" with 64 plants to address visitors' questions
Picture by Gwen LiuIn a hidden corner of the garden is a vertical garden with herbs
Owner David Cook often receives compliments on his garden from people passing by
Picture by Gwen Liu"People love this garden - [open garden] is an opportunity for people to see the garden," Mr Cook said
Craigie is a blend of relaxation and satisfaction
with half the garden devoted to vegetables and fruit trees
We've never managed to get the avocado off the trees," Mr Cook said
who listed about 27 vegetables in one breath
Picture by Gwen LiuMr Cook said he enjoyed visiting different gardens with his partner to get ideas
and he invited people to his garden in February
"Come and look at it - there are lots of ideas - it won't suit everybody
but there are lots of things people can do," he said
Both gardens' current designer Paddy Milne said there was a distinct lack of open gardens in Ballarat
so he invited the Zehnwirth and Cook families to help fill the gap
"We want to create a reliable weekend people know once a year there are going to be open gardens. There had been one in the past spring
but we don't have that opportunity anymore," Mr Milne said
"[The Oaks and Craigie] are really generous in size - they're the sort of gardens you can spend over an hour comfortably rather than a smaller garden where you walk through."
There will be an entry fee for each garden
$10 for adults and $6 for students with ID cards
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to various charities chosen by the garden owners
The Zehnwirth family will donate the money to Friends of Ballarat Botanic Gardens
The Cook family also plans to sell tea and coffee on the open day
and they will donate all their proceeds to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
"It's preferable people can pre-book - but if they don't get the opportunity to do that
they can pay cash or card at the gate on the day," Mr Milne said

Kenzo Craigie led a Prema and Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior one-two in the OK Junior final of the Karting World Championship
It started raining shortly before the final
prompting the field to switch to karts that were already prepared with wet set-ups
The conditions caught out Harrison Mackie on the formation lap
with the Fusion Motorsport driver having been set to start sixth
Filling the front row were DPK Racing’s Niklas Schaufler and Craigie
Roman Kamyab (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) and James Anagnostiadis filling the next three positions
Schaufler almost went off at hairpin one on the opening lap but somehow stayed in the lead
then at the penultimate corner he and Baglin did slide off the asphalt but with no consequence as they concluded the lap first and second
and he almost had another off on lap two when Baglin went wheel-to-wheel with him
with Baglin starting lap three ahead and with Craigie and Fusion’s Kit Belofsky not too far behind in third and fourth as the rain worsened
Craigie had a sideways moment and lost third but then dived back past
and up front Baglin began to pull away as he used more apex kerb than his rivals
As conditions got even tougher and drivers had to be more careful on the brakes
Craigie began to have the pace advantage and he was all over Schaufler by lap seven
but it resulted in him almost going off due to a lack of traction again and on lap 11 Craigie swept past after a failed attempt the previous lap
Baglin responded to his team-mate appearing behind him by setting two successive fastest laps
and it became a de facto Prema 1-2-3 on lap 12 as Schaufler spun down to sixth after Belofsky got close to him and Anagnostiadis moved into fourth behind the to-be penalised Belofsky
With six laps to go there was 2.7s betwen the top two
but Craigie managed to close the gap by being later on the brakes through the first sector and wading through the water behind his team-mate for the rest of each lap
He got within a second of Baglin with two laps to go
and Baglin’s slow approach into hairpin one meant another 0.4s was immediately eradicated from his lead
They entered the decisive final lap 0.4s apart
and Craigie managed to get alongside on the run to hairpin one
and at hairpin two Craigie was actually sent off the track but retained enough grip to rejoin the track still alongside his team-mate
He tucked in behind for the chicane then coming to the next braking zone dived to the inside of Baglin
Baglin then pulled off a switchback move at the penultimate corner
but had not fully cleared Craigie as he turned into the final corner and the pair collided
but it took several hours for stewards to determine the final results
Such were the gaps in the rain that Belofsky’s double penalty only dropped him from second to fourth
with Anagnostiadis runner-up and Victory Lane’s new Red Bull junior Rocco Coronel being promoted to third

PokerStars Ambassador and Director of Poker at the Hippodrome Casino is diving deeper into the world of women’s poker events
including the highly anticipated EPT Monte Carlo Women’s Event in May
there’s no shortage of action on the horizon
Craigie remains dedicated to creating spaces for women to thrive in poker, from the Irish Poker Open to the Malta Poker Festival and Australian Poker Open
where support for female players is stronger than ever
and highlights from the vibrant community that continues to inspire and empower women to take their seats at the table and shine in the world of poker
There’s something incredibly powerful about women coming together
and making space for one another - especially in environments designed for them
And when one woman asks for a seat at the table
a truly supportive network doesn’t hesitate - they pull up a chair
this spirit of inclusion and empowerment shines brightest
These gatherings are more than just opportunities to play poker in a safe environment
and inspire each other to elevate their game
The confidence built here is carried into the mixed arena
the response from a thriving community isn’t hesitation
That’s exactly what I experienced when putting out a shout for seats into women’s events around the world
Women stepped up and held out their hands laden with offers
That’s what we do when we lead with collaboration
We know that someone else’s presence doesn’t diminish our own
to every woman making the space - keep going
With heartfelt gratitude to the amazing partners and individuals who are actively making poker more inclusive:
I’m currently planning my next month of poker adventures, and I’m beyond excited to be popping my EPT Monte Carlo cherry this year! Will you join me at the Women’s Event on May 3rd? No doubt, this one will be truly special.
I absolutely cannot wait for this one. The energy and buzz leading up to it are immense! Without a doubt, it’s going to be the noisiest, most fun festival of the year. From personal experience, it’s also a fantastic, welcoming environment for women to play in.
Bonus: the Women’s Event will be streamed on the final day. How’s that for recognition?
One of my absolute favorite stops of the year and a genuine safe haven for female players. If you’re choosing one overseas, high-value, buy-in festival to attend make this the one.
This one’s a newcomer for me, but I can confidently say it’s earned its spot. The support I’ve seen and the commitment to creating a female-friendly environment put this firmly on the bucket list. If you’re on that side of the world - add it to yours!

If a little bird were on board the Sunfast 3600 Bellino during the rough-and-tumble Rolex Fastnet Races of 2023
it would have heard Rob Craigie ask his teammate Deb Fish a simple but important question: “How are you doing?”
I’ve been better,” Fish would reply after momentarily considering her mental and physical state after three hours of relentless pounding in 25 knots of wind off the coast of England
conditions that had already thinned a third of the fleet
why not keep going,” would be Fish’s reply
“Thought you’d say that,” Craigie would answer
Bellino has arguably been the most consistently successful racing yacht in England for the past two years
They won the RORC points championship in 2023
which is the cumulative scoring for all the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s approved races
They won the UK Doublehanded Championship on a tiebreaker in 2024
besting 30 other doublehanded boats for the title
they will likely have won the RORC points title again in 2024
The competition includes fully crewed boats of all sizes
And they recently finished a close second in the 2024 Drheam-Cup Doublehanded division
the most competitive event on the 2024 calendar
including French and other foreign boats (including Will Harris and me on Red Ruby)
what is this super-high-tech racing machine
but it is a six-year-old stock Sunfast 3600 racer/cruiser
constantly chuckling as if he has a joke to share
But he is a retired electrical engineer with free time and a love of sailing
Sir Ben Ainslie does not stay awake at night worrying that Craigie is coming for his place
Deborah Fish is a 54-year-old research scientist
only recently finding her passion in shorthanded ocean racing
She is also commodore of the Royal Ocean Racing Club
she is not on the verge of signing a big IMOCA contract
what has allowed these two modest and somewhat older sailors
Having raced against them for the past two years
I have a few observations on their winning formula
Perseverance: Keep fighting and never give up
Continual improvement: They pragmatically analyze what wins races and how to create a consistent system for avoiding errors and maximizing opportunities
They learn from their own mistakes and from others’ experiences
They also share what they have learned with other UK doublehanded sailors
frequently leading postrace debriefs to ensure that everyone is capturing the lessons
Well-defined roles: While doublehanded sailors need to be able to do everything on the boat
top teams also specialize to maximize each other’s strengths
Craigie steers and trims the mainsail most of the time
Low-risk tactics: They have created a tactical framework that allows them to use the best weather and current data to develop a plan
but then they temper the plan to reduce risk relative to the fleet
they might skip a sail change if the gain is minuscule
Not that they couldn’t do the extra peel to the code zero
but they calculate that the gain does not justify the energy expended and the potential for trouble
Reliability: They have focused on items on their boat that can break
and have taken measures to ensure that they can always finish the race
they bought a new J4 jib because they saw that in 25 to 35 knots upwind
small jib to reliably get around the course
They also carry spares of critical equipment
two autopilots and two navigation computers
which is pretty transparent for predicting the rating impact of various changes
With Bellino they have taken several subtle steps to keep their handicap low
They have reduced the total number of jibs they carry on a race
and recently switched from symmetric to asymmetric spinnakers to reduce rating (no pole)
The net result is the slowest-rated Sunfast 3600 in the fleet
but it’s a boat that is still fast enough to win
Trust each other: This is a common thread among all successful doublehanded teams
and you need to be able to take a nap knowing that your partner is going to sail the boat well
Craigie and Fish have developed supreme trust in each other over the years through their collective experience
Spend budget carefully: Bellino is not a high-budget program
They don’t pay for high-level weather analysis (like I do)
Fish does her own analysis of wind and current
using free and publicly available resources
and they sleep on their boat instead of getting a hotel (like I do)
They invest in one or two new sails per year but forgo many niceties
they can extensively campaign a 36-foot racing boat on a budget that is less than a typical J/70 program
The Bellino approach to offshore racing takes away so many excuses for not performing well
We can all benefit from this example of how to do more with less and how to turn your limitations into strengths

a PokerStars Ambassador and Director of Poker at the Hippodrome Casino
has been busy navigating a whirlwind of poker events
But the highlight of her recent journey was the Women’s Winter Festival
a groundbreaking collaboration between The Hippodrome Casino and PokerStars
the festival showcased the very best of what poker can offer
Craigie reflects on the festival’s success
and her mission to celebrate the game’s unique sense of community
Let’s change the narrative and own the story…
I’ve recently been immersed in a whirlwind of travel and poker
the Malta Poker Festival and finally EPT Prague
and I can confidently say it’s been an incredibly enjoyable experience
and the outcomes weren’t always what I’d hoped for
I would have loved more than one flag and bagged up for day two or even had an FT finish
and that’s what matters most—focusing on what I can control
I’ve not encountered any negative or demonstrative behavior
which is a testament to the positive atmosphere that poker can offer
This is what I believe we should focus on: the good times
isn’t that a big part of why we play poker
and the enjoyment—these are what make poker so rewarding
And the Women’s Winter Festival
a collaboration between The Hippodrome Casino and PokerStars had enjoyment by the bucket load
and I’ve since learned new friends and relationships formed between many that attended that will last a lifetime
You simply cannot describe how incredibly fantastic the atmosphere was and how unlike any other tournament I have ever been part of
the schedule and structures that provided a great player experience
the safe and comfortable playing environment
a respectful place and the reason I love poker - there was great play and the very reason we created this event
I’m deeply passionate about showcasing how great women can be at this game and encouraging more to join
But my mission has never been about criticizing or admonishing the majority at the tables
We celebrated just as much when the gents came in and took part too - in fact I think we surprised a lot of them of how much fun a poker tournament can be and they understood why women’s events have their place in the calendar
here’s the challenge I’ve set for myself: every interview
or comment I make from now on will focus on positivity
We don’t need to elevate women in poker by dwelling on the negatives
Highlighting bad behavior only gives it unnecessary attention and rarely teaches us anything useful—other than how to rise above it with grace
And I extend that challenge to all of you: let’s ignore the noise
Let those who choose to dwell in it stay there alone
is leading the charge with the upcoming Women’s Winter Festival
This event aims to elevate inclusivity in poker and create new opportunities for women in the game

Dundee United can confirm Young Terrors goalkeeper Lewis Haldane has joined SJFA Midlands League side East Craigie for the remainder of the season
a graduate of the Scottish FA Performance School programme at St John’s RC High School
has featured in all but one of United’s CAS Under-18s Elite League fixtures this term
make the short journey to Forfar West End this afternoon in the hopes of retaining their place in the top half of the table
they currently have 25 points on the board
Everyone at Dundee United wishes Lewis and East Craigie well for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign
Brendon Craigie has demonstrated that he is forward-thinking and not afraid to embrace technology
despite founding a PR agency serving the digital and tech space
with a fully remote team that has managed to embed and enforce a strong company culture via digital touchpoints
Craigie found analogue methods to be most effective
It’s hard to distill Craigie’s moment of founding Tyto into one specific window of time
He says that his big decisions often require months of "percolation"
which rarely allows for one “lightbulb moment” where everything falls into place
this should be read as an entrepreneurial journey
loosely hinged on one moment; which involved Craigie
we find Craigie in a very different position to where he is now
I had been the CEO of Hotwire for 17 years
and I had been percolating on things for a while,” explains Craigie
“[At Hotwire] I had been part of an exciting journey with seeing the company grow from [a few employees] to 250 people
I felt I had a sense of what was possible in terms of building something of my own
after a milestone birthday and overseeing an acquisition at Hotwire
I felt I had done every job and overseen every challenge I could
A simplified rundown of what he then did is as follows; Craigie quit his job of 17 years
relocated his family from New York to Spain – because everyone needs a break – and sold his UK house
so he could pay employees he didn’t yet have.He points out that a business needs to solve a problem for many
The issue in the PR agency space is that many agencies will claim to do the same things
“What I saw from the inside perspective of helping to build an international agency was that companies in the tech space were global from day one
They needed to be able to build their reputations
the traditional options available to them like going to a network agency – while it’s all under one business name - can run like a collection of separate businesses
even when you're working with one company with one name
you effectively end up working with multiple companies
The consequence of that for a client is it’s inefficient
inflexible and there is a lot of waste within that structure.”
Craigie says that he grew up in a house with five sisters
which created “a level of scarcity” when he was growing up
He explained that he would get frustrated at things being wasted
This life experience has trickled into his professional life
he said he finally had the time post-acquisition to take stock and think about what to do next
And while quitting a role of almost two decades
selling a house and relocating to Spain might read like flippant risks
I take very calculated risks…I draw down on as many pieces of data and information I can get as possible.”
Craigie then began collecting and learning from his “data”
“I read a lot of business books about key trends
and all of the non-PR-specific elements that make a good business
I was interested in the remote working model [this is pre-pandemic] so I read books and listened to podcasts about how to make remote successful but retain a great culture
“I spoke to former clients to understand their frustrations and challenges
and began to map out what I thought the core of the business would be
then I put it into a digital presentation for 20 of my former colleagues
some gave me push-back on my ideas and eventually I was able to perfect the model further
I was able to offer a job to a handful of people and launch the company
getting feedback and refining is essential
you’re always going to have a leap of faith moment.”
Craigie also pooled on his network of business advisors and was able to gain a lot of advice from them
simply by offering to call and have a chat
This is something that he found invaluable
and now tries to always offer his time to those who need it
“One of my favourite expressions is ‘you only live once’
so if you have a really burning desire to do something
“I think a lot of people don't take those risks for understandable reasons
Even if you're really passionate about something
you really believe in that passion and energy
But that type of fear is a very powerful force
so if you act on that excitement and then you've got the extra propulsion of the fear

James Craigie, a former CEO, chair and board member of Church & Dwight, has agreed to settle SEC allegations that he violated proxy disclosure rules
Craigie stood for election as an independent director without telling the board that he had a close personal friendship with a senior Church & Dwight executive
in doing so causing two of the company’s proxy statements to contain materially misleading statements
agreed to pay a civil penalty of $175,000 and be subject to a five-year officer-and-director bar
The settlement is subject to court approval
An attorney for Craigie forwarded a statement on behalf of his client: ‘Under Jim Craigie’s leadership
Church & Dwight and its shareholders enjoyed phenomenal growth
including a sixfold increase in market capitalization and industry-leading total shareholder return
Jim is immensely proud of his legacy at [the company] and is pleased to have put this minor matter behind him.’
Church & Dwight did not respond immediately to a request for comment
associate director of the SEC’s enforcement division
says in a statement: ‘Shareholders expect independent directors to exercise autonomous judgment in their decision making
By concealing his relationship with a company executive
[Craigie] undermined the board’s director independence process and compromised the company’s disclosures.’
The SEC says Craigie was appointed as Church & Dwight’s CEO in 2004
He was non-executive chair of the company’s board from 2007 to 2019 and a non-independent director from 2004 to 2019 before becoming an independent director in 2019
Craigie failed to disclose that he had a close personal friendship with an unnamed Church & Dwight executive through the director independence process or otherwise
other friends and the executive and executive’s spouse regularly vacationed together from 2020 through 2023 with Craigie usually paying for airfare and lodging for the executive
Craigie asked the executive not to tell anyone at the company about the nature of their relationship because Craigie wanted to avoid any appearance of bias
who had decades of experience as a public company executive and board member
that his relationship with [the] executive was relevant and significant to Church & Dwight’s independence determination,’ the agency writes
Church & Dwight in early 2023 learned of Craigie’s relationship with the executive and its board determined that by not disclosing this relationship
Craigie had violated his obligations of candor and confidentiality under the company’s code of conduct
The board also determined that he was no longer considered an independent director
the company represented Craigie as an independent director because it was unaware of the relationship with the executive owing to Craigie’s failure to disclose
meaning that those proxy statements contained misstatements of material fact
The agency states that Craigie is directly liable for those misstatements because he allowed his name to be used in the proxy statements and there is ‘a substantial connection between the use of his name and the solicitation effort.’ It adds that he ‘controlled the content’ of Church & Dwight’s 2021 and 2022 proxy statements in terms of his independence by failing to disclose his relationship with the executive

Britain’s Joe Turney lost out on the OK title with a mistake on the final lap
leaving his young compatriot Jeff-Hall to take the win
while Noah Baglin (GBR) ran off the track after making contact with Craigie a few metres from the finish line
Britain’s Joe Turney continued his perfect run ahead of the Final by winning Super Heat A in the dry by a considerable margin
while Fionn Mclaughlin (IRL) won Super Heat B in the wet
Turney went on to lead 21 of the 22 laps of the Final
but there was more drama to come before the chequered flag fell
As the number of off-track excursions and incidents increased
Matthew Higgins (GBR) gave up second place to a hard-charging Ethan Jeff-Hall (GBR)
Jeff-Hall made a serious comeback on Turney
who was holding him off by just 6 tenths until the last fateful lap
Turney switched off slightly and went wide at the turn three banking
Jeff-Hall didn’t need any encouragement and rushed through to snatch the victory
Jeff-Hall made a discreet debut in the OK category last August at the European Championship in Kristianstad
His world title echoes that of Danny Keirle

Niklas Schaufler (AUT) and Kit Belofsky (GBR) were the in-form drivers winning the Super Heats on Sunday morning
Soon after the lights went out for the last time
Noah Baglin replaced Schaufler at the head of the race from the second lap
Seemingly enjoying the challenge of increasingly wet conditions
Kenzo Craigie (GBR) set off in pursuit shortly after the halfway point and found himself in Baglin’s wheel tracks on the penultimate lap
The last lap saw a spectacular battle between the two drivers and it was a pity for the race-long leader that contact in the last corner resulted in Baglin’s retirement a few metres from the finish
James Anagnostiadis (AUS) finished second ahead of Schaufler
who was delayed by a 360° slide and was later disqualified
Rocco Coronel (NLD) inherited third place after the podium
Belofsky was classified fourth ahead of Zac Green (GBR)
After a bright start that saw him secure pole
Harrison Whitticombe rounded out the qualification in fourth heading into the final
He came through in fifth as Kyuho Lee of Korea took the title

A Perth community has launched a bid to buy an “integral” church and hall after it hit the market
Craigie Church and Hall was put up for sale in November 2024 for offers over £245,000
Locals are now rallying together to buy the building before the sale closing date on January 8
The Craigie Community Group was formed in May 2024 after residents heard the church would be put on the market
The group hope to purchase the building under the Community Right to Buy Scheme
A spokesperson for the Craigie group said: “We are in communication with the Scottish Land Fund and have made enquiries regarding other Lottery and local funding that would be available to us
“We are confident there is funding available to make this a successful and sustainable project
“There is a significant amount of work required for an application under this scheme
“The church and hall appearing on the open market in November 2024
has resulted in a lot of pressure on the group to make the application sooner than we had planned for
we are still working hard to make our application count with the hope that this building can be retained as a community space in the heart of Craigie
“Craigie Church and hall has been an integral part of the Craigie community for decades with lots of local groups and Craigie Primary School being regular users of the space over the years.”
The church hall is currently used for social
recreational and sporting purposes which the group wants to continue
Craigie Primary School frequently use the space for activities and assemblies
Signatures are currently being collected from those in the Craigie area
Petition sheets are available to sign at The Craigie Corner Shop and the Abbotsford Lounge Bar
Speaking to The Courier in November 2024
a spokesperson for The Church of Scotland said: “Craigie Church in Perth has recently come onto the market
“This is in line with the Presbytery Mission Plan which stated that it should be disposed of by the end of 2025 at the latest
“This is in recognition of the fact that the Church of Scotland requires to release some of its estate in light of the financial challenges it is facing
“It has been widely known within the congregation and the community that the building would be going on the market at some point
“The kirk session will carefully consider all offers
and it is expected that a decision will not be made until early next year.”

The SEC’s enforcement action has received significant attention in the legal community for highlighting that friendship with members of management can result in the loss of independence
but the facts in this case were fairly extreme
Craigie went far beyond having lunches and dinners with management
He spent $100,000 taking the Executive and his spouse on vacation
he appeared to be on a mission to ensure the Executive eventually became CEO
and he went to inordinate lengths to conceal his friendship
it would have been virtually impossible for Craigie to take the position with the SEC that the friendship should not have destroyed independence because the special committee had already determined that it did
the SEC’s enforcement action does not provide a lot of useful information on where a friendship crosses the line and begins to jeopardize independence
But that is not really the key takeaway for outside directors
Outside directors are not responsible for determining independence
as that is the company’s responsibility under stock exchange rules
The key takeaway for outside directors is that
to the extent they have done so in the past
they should no longer view D&O questionnaires as routine annual questionnaires that are simply rolled forward from one year to the next
Outside directors should take note that material misstatements and omissions in the D&O questionnaires can serve as the basis for an SEC enforcement action against them
outside directors should err on over-inclusivity in their questionnaires
so that the company receives fulsome information from which the board is able to evaluate an independence determination or make other necessary disclosure in the proxy statement
Note that the consequences of an enforcement proceeding can go significantly beyond the civil penalty
Depending on the terms of settlement or other resolution
D&O indemnification and insurance may be unavailable
and thus the director may be personally responsible for his or her own legal fees
a five-year D&O bar would mean that the director would have to resign from all other public company boards on which the director serves
If the director is an executive of another public company
the director would also have to resign from that position
Erring toward over-disclosure in the D&O questionnaire can help directors avoid these consequences as well as the time and other burdens and reputational harm to both the company and the individual director associated with being the subject of any investigation or enforcement action
If you have any questions about this enforcement action
contact the authors of this article or your Foley & Lardner attorney

We're back for another edition of KNIGHTS // HQ Legends as we sit down with former fan favourite
proud Gamilaroi man and still the youngest player ever to debut for the nib Newcastle Knights
Hailing from Tingha in the heart of north-western NSW with a population of just over 800 people, 300 back in the 90's, a young Owen was given the opportunity to come down to Newcastle as a teenager. Listen now on Apple or Spotify
Dubbed one of the most freakish talents in his junior years
Craigie turned heads immediately in the lower grades before first grade came calling
The former centre earned his start in front of a packed Marathon Stadium against none other than the fearsome
Coming off the bench, Owen recounted the incredible experience on the KNIGHTS // HQ Podcast.
"I was at SFX (St Francis Xavier College) in year 11, and we played schoolboy football on the Friday," Craigie said.
"I played reggies (reserve grade) on that Sunday, and then after that, Allan McMahon said 'we'll put you on the bench and debut you against the Broncos.'
"I wasn't so much excited in the fact that we were playing the Broncos, it was the fact that I was playing my idol, Steve Renouf.
"Dave Morley turned around with his microphone and said, 'Owie, up, you're on'. My guts just dropped straightaway, and all of a sudden you just grow another level, so you're not a kid anymore and you've got to match it with these men.
"I get up on the sideline, and they said 'grab, Ash. Ash Gordon'. And I thought another one of my idols. So Ash come off and he said 'good luck'. Slapped my hand and I ran on.
"It was the greatest feeling of all time, beside my kids being born.
"38,000 poeple back then, they shut the gate at half-time of reggies. Newcastle was Newcastle.
"All you can hear is the chant, the bloke (that was) next to me, I couldn't even hear him."
The Knights would claim a huge 32-10 win against one of the premiership heavyweights.
"Rocking up to the school the next day, it was mad," Craigie said.
On this episode, 'guess that game' makes a return as we quiz Owen on some of the biggest games of his career including that debut in 1995 and a memorable Preliminary Final against North Sydney en route to the Grand Final in 1997.
Craigie played a key role in the run to the premiership in that famous season as we talk about playing for the Club during those years.
Labelled the most naturally talented player he ever played with by Andrew Johns, the now 45-year-old spoke about playing alongside 'Joey' and many of his former teammates.
Owen also opened up on life post footy and the tremendous work in the community he has been doing recently.
Alongside former Knight and teammate Adam Muir, the pair helped form Ur Bucket List, which provides support services to families with disabilities.
The service stretches from Newcastle, the Central Coast and Sydney through to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
We round out with talking all about the new community service he provides, his passion for community and Ur Bucket List's fast growth over the last few months.

A Perth church and hall has been put up for sale amid “financial pressures” on the Church of Scotland
Craigie Church and Hall has gone on the market for offers over £245,000
The Abbot Street property dates back to 1895 and boasts a central location in Perth
Planning permission is already in place to turn the space into a public library and nursery
Other potential uses include a cinema or retail space but further consent would be needed for these
A spokesperson for The Church of Scotland said: “Craigie Church in Perth has recently come onto the market
“This is in line with the Presbytery Mission Plan which stated that it should be disposed of by the end of 2025 at the latest
and it is expected that a decision will not be made until early next year
“Presbytery mission plans are designed to equip the Church for the challenges of sustainable Christian mission in the coming years and they are evaluated on an annual basis
“Having fewer buildings reduces pressure on congregational finances
freeing up funds and general income for other missional activities.”
Services are regularly held at Craigie Church and alternate weekly with neighbouring parishes
The church will officially close on Wednesday January 8 at 12 noon
Moncreiffe Church will be assessed as a potential hub to merge the congregations
It comes as 200-year-old Cortachy Church near Kirriemuir in Angus is on the verge of being sold
