Darley have announced fees on their powerful roster of 14 stallions split between NSW and Victoria with Broadsiding set to join the team at Kelvinside in the Hunter Valley at a fee of $66,000
who has made the strongest start to a stud career this century
heads the roster at $275,000 as previously announced and will be joined by his champion son Broadsiding
A four-time G1 winner that was Champion 2YO and then won the Group I Golden Rose and Rosehill Guineas at three
Broadsiding is the best son of Too Darn Hot in Australia
has had a slight fee reduction and will drop to $110,000
Anamoe has garnered great support since retiring to stud
and 127 Stakes winners along with the dams of 18 G1 winners in his first two books
Darley’s roster draws further strength from the remarkable Street Cry sire line
with Anamoe’s sire Street Boss standing at $66,000 in Victoria
Street Boss is enjoying another banner season headlined by recent G2 Percy Sykes winner Tempted and his top class son Traffic Warden will also head to stud this spring
Traffic Warden will stand at $22,000 in NSW and this eye-catching colt was a G2 winner at two and three and was defeated by a short head and a head in the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes and G1 Golden Rose respectively
Harry Angel has earned a fee increase and rises to $66,000
A World Champion Sprinter and the leading third-crop sire in the country
Harry Angel is the youngest stallion in the top 10 of the General Sires Table and one of the most sought-after stallions in the country right now with a pair of Group I winners this season in Tom Kitten and Private Harry
“This is an outstanding group of stallions - a world-class line-up,” said Darley’s Head of Stallions
“The results they’ve achieved this year
both in the yearling market and on the racetrack
These fees reflect the success we've seen and have been set with breeders firmly in mind.”
Too Darn Hot (GB) $275,000 (Not here last year)
Darley have taken the wraps off their stallion fees for the upcoming season
with exciting newcomer Broadsiding introduced at $66,000 (all fees inc GST)
The four-time Group 1 winner is the first son of Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) to take up stud duty
and is joined on the 14-strong roster by a combination of established names and up-and-comers
Godolphin homebred Broadsiding won seven races for James Cummings and was crowned champion two-year-old after landing last season’s Champagne Stakes (Gr 1
He doubled his Group 1 tally at three with victories in the Golden Rose (Gr 1
in which he defeated fellow Darley retiree Traffic Warden
to get horses like Broadsiding,” Lisa Manning
Darley’s nominations manager in Victoria told ANZ Bloodstock News
“He’s a complete homebred being by a stallion we stand
two as a juvenile and then two more as a three-year-old
Being by one of the hottest stallions in the world
it’s very exciting to have him standing alongside his father.”
Manning reported that interest in Broadsiding’s services at stud has been growing in tandem with his race record
“We’ve had interest throughout the last six to eight months with people asking will he be retiring this year,” she said
because he’s certainly fulfilled what we hoped for by being a champion juvenile and then going on to win the Golden Rose and the Rosehill Guineas
I think it’s a fair value fee for a first-season horse of his calibre.”
Broadsiding’s profile is packed with Group 1 form
His achievements on the track are not only backed up by an attractive pedigree
but an appealing set of physical attributes as well
He’s a similar size to his own sire but I suspect he’ll mature to be a bit bigger than Too Darn Hot
He’s got the same quality though; that great balance
big hind quarter with a lovely action and a good head
He’s very much an athlete and certainly an outstanding physical.”
Broadsiding’s addition to the Kelvinside roster means he will stand alongside his own sire in Too Darn Hot
The son of Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) already has 35 stakes performers on his burgeoning roll of honour
with Broadsiding joined at the head of the list by fellow Group 1 winners Fallen Angel and Hotazhell
Too Darn Hot had been due to shuttle to Australia last season and stand for $110,000
but it was decided to rest him for a season
with the horse back at Kelvinside and his profile only heading in one direction
he will stand for an upgraded fee of $275,000
“It’s very exciting to have him back this year and it’s a real coup for us,” said Manning
“He’s made the strongest start to a stud career this century
Obviously he’s had a price rise since he was last in Australia
Manning acknowledged that demand looks likely to far exceed supply
“It’s not going to be easy to manage his book because he’s going to be very popular,” she said
“At this stage he’ll be limited to 100 mares
and obviously we’ll send him quite a few of our own
we’re hopeful that we can help as many breeders out as possible
He’s a very popular stallion but they’re not machines and we always prioritise taking care of them.”
Too Darn Hot has sired ten Australian stakes winners this season at a clip of 12.5 per cent
headed by a $1.9 million colt bought by Ciaron Maher and David Redvers in 2024
Manning is hopeful the best is yet to come
“To be carrying those numbers and those percentages is outstanding,” she said
“He could be the next champion sire for years to come
The opportunity is there and he’s started off in the right direction
Hopefully he can be extremely successful over the coming few years.”
Darley’s other new recruit is the aforementioned Traffic Warden
who has been added to the Kelvinside roster at $22,000
The son of Street Boss (Street Cry) won three times for the Cummings stable
including the Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 2
He missed out on Group 1 laurels by exceedingly narrow margins
first when beaten less than two lengths by Lady Of Camelot (Written Tycoon) in the Golden Slipper (Gr 1
1200m) and then going down by just a nose to Manaal (Tassort) in the Sires’ Produce (Gr 1
He also got within a short head of beating stablemate Broadsiding in the Golden Rose
“Traffic Warden was a phenomenal two-year-old,” said Manning
“He was a dual Group 2 winner as a two-year-old and went on to win The Run To The Rose and finished second
For a little while it was in the balance which colt would be better between him and Broadsiding
but Traffic Warden is a good-looking horse with a phenomenal pedigree
is a four-time stakes winner-producing mare
the race record and the looks to be very exciting at stud
Breeders are looking for good types and precocious two-year-olds to get results
Nobody will be disappointed when they see him.”
Manning added: “We’ll support both of the new recruits
We don’t have the huge numbers that some people might expect
We run between 150 and 180 mares and we’ve got 14 stallions on the roster
One name who has already benefited from that home support is Anamoe (Street Boss)
The nine-time Group 1 winner will spend his third season at a fee of $110,000
which has been trimmed fractionally from $121,000 last year
Anyone breeding to Anamoe this season can do so safe in the knowledge he has two exceptionally well-bred crops already in the pipeline
“He’s garnered great support,” said Manning
82 Group winners and 127 stakes winners in his first couple of seasons
His first-crop are the talk among the new weanling sires and I’ve no doubt they’ll be well received at the sales that are coming up
He’s an amazingly exciting horse for us and we’re very lucky to have him.”
Anamoe’s sire Street Boss (Street Cry) is still going strong at the age of 21 and has had his fee held firm
despite another strong showing on the track this year with eight stakes winners to his name
He heads the roster at Northwood Park in Victoria at $66,000
“Street Boss has had a phenomenal season and has had some really good
“He’s been represented by the likes of Tempted and Tentyris of ours that were both good two-year-olds
He’s just a very good stallion who’s very consistent
which we think is great value for breeders
but he certainly hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down with his progeny on the track.”
Also standing at $66,000 is shuttler Harry Angel
whose fee has risen from $38,500 last year
The son of British and Irish champion sire Dark Angel (Acclamation) sits in seventh on the general sires list thanks in no small part to Godolphin’s Tom Kitten landing his second Group 1 in the lucrative All-Star Mile
“Harry’s always been a popular stallion,” said Manning
He’s shown that he’s getting the sort of horses breeders want to produce
He throws a sales type too and he will be fully subscribed as well at around 130 to 140 mares.”
Also joining the likes of Too Darn Hot and Harry Angel on shuttle runs from the northern hemisphere is Native Trail (Oasis Dream)
The undefeated European champion two-year-old
whose juvenile Group 1 wins in the National Stakes (Gr 1
7f) were followed by the Irish 2,000 Guineas (Gr 1
“He covered a very solid book of mares last year,” said Manning
which always draws Australian breeders’ attention
He’s by a stallion that they might not be particularly familiar with
but it was the same with Harry Angel and it certainly worked out well in that regard
He covered a full book of 130 mares last year so we’re very happy with him
With it being his second season we usually do a bit of a discount
so I don’t doubt that he’ll be popular again this year.”
Two names not making the shuttle trip this time around are Blue Point (Shamardal) and Ghaiyyath (Dubawi)
with the pair remaining at Kildangan Stud in Ireland
“They’ve both had very busy seasons for the last few years
so a year off won’t hurt either of them,” said Manning
“That certainly doesn’t preclude them from coming back in 2026
Blue Point is doing a great job here with his first two and three-year-olds
and he’s certainly held his own here with some really nice stakes horses
I don’t doubt that anything they do at two and three
Manning added: “We’re very lucky with the roster that we have this year
it’s an exciting group with some world-class names in there
but there are some really good young stallions on there who are making their names at the moment
“Bivouac is one of those; he had three stakes winners from 17 runners in his first two-year-old crop
so he’s certainly starting to make waves and has become an attractive option for breeders this season
Then there’s stalwarts like Brazen Beau and Kermadec
“Brazen Beau has been a consistently good stallion and has always produced good two-year-olds as well as Group 1 winners
He doesn’t get two-year-olds as a rule but has elite horses like Montefilia and Tuvalu
There’s a lot of value on the roster with regards to those sorts of horses.”

A first European Classic success for one of Darley's most important sires put the seal on a weekend in which every light turned blue
Kildangan Stud resident Night Of Thunder should play a big part in the operation for the next decade or so and his daughter Desert Flower
who showed a telling blend of class and determination in landing Sunday's Betfred 2,000 Guineas
was one of those who had elevated his 2025 fee to a career high of €150,000
The chestnut was already one of Night Of Thunder's six Group 1 winners following her consummate performance over the same Rowley Mile course and distance in last October's Fillies' Mile
It was on this very weekend 11 years ago that Night Of Thunder caused a 40-1 Guineas upset in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed's associate
when he thwarted another of the present guard of top sires
before landing the following season's Lockinge Stakes in Godolphin's blue silks
he made a stunning impact as a freshman in 2019 and his progeny have continued to prove popular in the ring
ensuring the quality of his book continues to rise accordingly
Last year saw Night Of Thunder produce his first proper major-league colt in Economics
who landed the Irish Champion Stakes and is expected to take high rank again
he is in pole position to one day assume the mantle of his illustrious father Dubawi
who is now 23 and has maintained the sireline of Sheikh Mohammed's beloved Dubai Millennium
Night Of Thunder is also the sire of the ill-fated sprinting mare Highfield Princess
while the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Choisya joined the top category only last month in the Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland
The sire is now up to 63 international stakes winners worldwide
as he was also responsible for the Juddmonte-bred Sunly
who made it two from two with a tidy victory in the Listed Prix de la Seine at Longchamp on Sunday and comes from a typically strong family
one which includes St Leger hero Logician and Group 1 winner Cityscape
Desert Flower was the third of Godolphin's international quartet of stars to have also been a homebred
She is the second foal out of Promising Run
a smart Hard Spun mare trained by Saeed bin Suroor who won the Rockfel Stakes as a juvenile
Although well beaten by Minding in the Fillies' Mile herself
she went on to land a collection of Group races around the world
was by Dubawi and won the 2023 Solario Stakes at Sandown but has not been seen since his two-year-old career
Those are the only two offspring she has produced to date
with her most recent cover being by Ghaiyyath
Her dam Aviacion won the Group 1 Grande Premio Zelia Gonzaga Peixoto de Castro over a mile and a half at Hipodromo da Gavea and is one of a number of high-achieving siblings in Brazil

Melton will unveil its 2024 premiership flag in front of the home crowd
in a game that coach Troy Scoble sees as an audit as to where his side stands early in the year
"Our focus on the game being round one is more on ourselves and our system
but that's largely because there's no exposed form to be analysed," he said
"We'll be wary early on that with the talent on their list
we're going to have to adjust early in the game to how they are playing
"We expect them to have one of the best lists in the competition this year
Scoble revealed there would be a number of changes from the grand final team
we're keen to give him some exposure," he said
"Riley Walker will miss the first part of the year
we've got a couple of young kids who will be playing as well
Ben McMahon and Mitch Caddy will play as well

Darley coach Dan Jordan said it was a great opportunity to see where his side was at
"It's always a bit of an unknown round one

Lakers coach Rohan Brown said it would be a big test for his young side to see how far they have come in the off-season

One of the world's hottest young sires Too Darn Hot (GB) will return to Darley Australia for the 2025 breeding season
where he will stand for a fee of A$275,000 (inc GST)
The sire of champion two-year-old colt Broadsiding (Aus)
electric juvenile Rivellino (Aus) and a total of 23 stakes winners worldwide was sorely missed last year after a brief illness during the Northern Hemisphere breeding season prompted connections to cancel his travel down under
A stallion who exploded on to the Australasian racing scene with the exploits of Broadsiding in the G1 Champagne Stakes and the G1 JJ Atkins Stakes
Too Darn Hot has been popular from the start
With 10 individual stakes winners in Australia this season alone
Too Darn Hot is poised to back up his champion first-season sire title with a second-season championship as well
“Too Darn Hot is exceptional,” said Andy Makiv
“What he's achieved at this stage in his career is honestly remarkable
He's producing top line stakes performers and his record-breaking feats speak for themselves
“We are excited to welcome Too Darn Hot back to Australia for the 2025 season and are grateful to the Darley team in the UK and Watership Down Stud for entrusting him to us for another season.”
With stakes winners across eight countries
Too Darn Hot has sired the winners of more Group races than the champions Redoute's Choice (Aus)
I Am Invincible (Aus) and Zoustar (Aus) at the same stage of their careers
His service fee puts him in line with the top ranks of Australia's stallion elite and he has achieved it faster than any of them
He has been continually popular at the sales; 16 of his 17 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale entries sold with a top price of A$1 million and an average of A$504,375
The remainder of the 2025 Darley Australia roster is to be announced on April 22

Darley against Bacchus Marsh on any sporting field is a big occasion
let alone when the two sides are fighting for a finals spot in the Ballarat Cricket Association
Bacchus Marsh sits in fourth spot with Darley sitting two points behind
the two local rivals face off against each other in the final round in a two-dayer
While East Ballarat and Golden Point remain alive in the hunt for finals
they would need outright wins and other results to go their way
It means a virtual elimination final between Darley and Bacchus Marsh in the final round
Lions coach Nathan Yates said while they would rather already have secured their spot in the top four
He said if they miss out on finals they only have themselves to blame
“It is how it has panned out,” he said
“We were able to get the win [on Saturday] and have a few results go our way
keep winning and the results will take care of itself
“We dropped some games earlier in the season
“It will add a bit more spice to a normally spicy affair.”
The Lions have been focusing on what they can and on Saturday
The Lions batted first and made 8-241 from their overs
Sajith Dissanayaka made 90 at the top of the order
Yates said they felt that score was above bar
Brown Hill started well with the bat and were 0-70
It never recovered and was bowled out for 145
Dilan Chandima took four wickets for the Lions
Yates said the focus this week was to just continue on the form they had been showing
“Post-Christmas we have been putting the runs on the board,” he said
“We want to continue with that and hopefully put a score on the board and defend it.”
the Bulls had the chance to lock in a top four spot against Buninyong
Jayden White-Powell top scored with 37 at the top of the order
At 3-150 the Bunnies were on top before the wickets started to fall
Buninyong finished 7-178 despite losing four late wickets
It’s not just the men’s sides that will face each other this weekend
with Bacchus Marsh to host Darley in a Gisborne and District Cricket Association women’s league semi final
Dancing Alone also is a full sister to multiple grade 1 winner Voodoo Dancer and graded-placed winners Gravette and Waycross
Consignor Scott Mallory offered Piedra Preciosa at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale where she was a $27,000 buy-back
He won six graded stakes while racing from 2 to 4
with his biggest wins coming in the 2019 Breeders' Futurity (G1) at 2 and the 2021 Clark Stakes (G1) at 4
He also was runner-up in the 2021 Whitney (G1) and Woodward (G1) stakes
He retired with an 8-2-1 record from 11 starts and earned $2,001,812

Not many horses have done as much for their reputation in the 12 months since last year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival as Bella Nipotina
the Ciaron Maher-trained mare has turned in career peak after career peak in 2024
Tatt’s Tiara and Doomben 10,000 at Group 1 level
But this Saturday’s $3m Group 1 Darley Champions Sprint (1200m) presents possibly her biggest challenge of the year
The daughter of Pride Of Dubai is backing up after winning the Russell Balding Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill for the second year in a row
with the Darley Champions Sprint to be her first start in Melbourne start since finishing fourth in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) in March
Her only unplaced run since then was also a fourth placing
with her worst finish in eight starts since that Perth race being a third placing in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick
Those eight most recent runs races were all run the clockwise direction
Her William Reid fourth followed a fifth in the Yulong Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and a fourth placing in the Black Caviar Lightning (1000m)
which were her first starts since a fifth placing in last year’s Darley Champions Stakes
Bella Nipotina has not placed in Melbourne since her second placing in last year’s William Reid Stakes
while her maiden Group 1 win in the 2022 Manikato Stakes was her last win in Victoria
She ran to a Timeform rating of 120 that day
the same number she posted when second to Imperatriz in last year’s William Reid Stakes
which are her equal highest figures recorded in Melbourne
Bella Nipotina went 123 at her past two starts
while her five next-best Timeform runs were right-handed
figures she returned in this year’s Newmarket Handicap and the Lightning
In 10 starts at Australia’s most famous racetrack her best result is a second placing in the Inglis Dash when trained by Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes
That previous best Flemington rating would have been good enough to win only one Darley Champions Sprint since it took up residence on Final Day in 2007 – the 2022 edition that Roch ‘N’ Horse won in 116
The next-lowest winning rating is Swick’s 120 with the average winning rating required since 2007 being 125.35

I love finding out who other artists are listening to
it’s been Stevie Wonder – he’s just been my go-to for everything
my Spotify Wrapped showed I was in the top 0.01% of his listeners
I think his music has this magic where it makes everything feel lighter
Daya: We’re in a secret Stevie Wonder fan club now
His music just hits differently; it’s the perfect vibe
what got you into music in the first place
and later found my way to singing around age 13 or 14
but I always loved the process and the performance
venues would ask me to DJ to keep the crowd going
And do you bring any of that rock influence into your sets
Darley: Sometimes the rock vibe sneaks into my DJ sets
I still play in a few bands – psychedelic rock
my house and electronic sets are all about high-energy beats
There’s something about switching it up onstage that keeps things exciting
And I’ve got my two dancers with me – it’s going to be high-energy and so fun
I want to bring a bit of everything for my first Australian crowd
Tone Deaf: Both of you have mentioned being the only women on some of these lineups
but I would love it more if there were more women
When you’re the only woman in the lineup or backstage
But I try to focus on the positive impact that visibility can have
I make a point to bring as many women on my team as possible
It makes such a difference to have that energy and representation
it’s so empowering to be part of a lineup with you
I think the crowd sees it and feels it too
It’s really exciting to be part of this shift
This is my first time performing in Australia
I’ve heard Aussie crowds are amazing – so engaged and energetic
It’s going to be such a high-energy experience
I can’t wait to watch your set and see the crowd vibe with you
Are you planning to play any of your own tracks at Palm Tree
I’m working on bringing more of my own music into my sets
I want to show the audience a bit more of myself
Right now I’m playing a lot of others’ music
but my dream is to make my set mostly my own
Creating a set that’s uniquely you is such a rewarding feeling
I think it’ll be amazing to see you own that stage with your tracks
Tone Deaf: What’s one festival ritual or post-show activity you both have
But not many people here know what they are
I only recently realised it’s not everywhere
so we should definitely do one in Melbourne
We’ll bring the pickleback magic to Palm Tree
I’ll introduce you to a few Melbourne spots where we can toast with a proper Aussie drink or two
Tone Deaf: Sounds like you two have a whole post-show adventure planned
You’ve mentioned such a supportive vibe in your music journeys
Do you each have any advice for women looking to make it in this industry
Daya: I’d say trust your instincts and build a support system
I feel so lucky to work with people who understand and respect my vision
and I’d encourage any woman in music to seek that out
surround yourself with people who genuinely have your back
It’s so empowering to see other women in music finding their place and owning it

following clearance from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for a regional network sharing deal with Optus
"Rebecca is joining the business at a crucial time as we prepare for our biggest and best ever year in 2025," Cooney said

One of the most promising young sires in both hemispheres
Too Darn Hot has already left a huge impression on the Australian racing and breeding landscape and his return to Australia promises to further elevate his influence
Too Darn Hot set a new benchmark with the most successful start at stud this century
outpacing Australia’s most iconic stallions
He has sired the winners of more Group races than Redoute’s Choice
I Am Invincible and Zoustar at the same stage of their careers
He was Champion first-season sire and finished runner-up on the leading Australian two-year-old sires list in 2023/24
His first crop saw him set an earnings record for any first-season sire in history
This outstanding debut crop also produced Champion two-year-old Broadsiding

Darley have announced fees on their roster off 22 sires standing in the UK, Ireland and France with Dubawi heading the list at a fee of £350,000 for the third year in a row.
Turning 23 next year, Dubawi is reportedly set to cover a reduced book of mares in 2025, but Darley have some exciting young sires to pick up the slack with both Blue Point and Too Darn Hot given significant increases.
Currently in Australia, Blue Point will stand at £100,000 which is up from £60,000, while Too Darn Hot climbs to £90,000 up from £65,000.
Dubawi’s exceptional sire son Night of Thunder is also on the rise up to £150,000 from £100,000.
Sam Bullard, Darley's director of stallions, said: “To have three stallions of the calibre of Blue Point, Night Of Thunder and Too Darn Hot is a source of immense pride to the whole team, particularly as they are sons of our own breed-shapers Dubawi and Shamardal.
“Our roster provides breeders with a wealth of choices for their mares, from our proven sires to exciting young stallions, and we look forward to showing them in the coming months.”

In an exciting coup for Australian breeders
Darley have announced that elite stallion Too Darn Hot will return to Kelvinside for the 2025 southern hemisphere breeding season
where he will stand for a fee of A$275,000 (£130,000/€152,000)
The fee constitutes a monumental jump from the son of Dubawi's previous seasons standing at Kelvinside
but one that is representative of the young stallion's incredible achievements on the track
Too Darn Hot arrived in 2020 for his maiden covering season in Australia at a fee of A$44,000 and remained at that figure for another three seasons before being announced as not returning for 2024
meaning his fee for 2025 is an increase of A$231,000
A multiple Group 1 winner on the track that is by Group 1 winner and sire supremo Dubawi and out of the Group 1-winning mare Dar Re Mi
much was expected from Too Darn Hot in the breeding barn
however surely not many could have predicted what was to actually come
Since having his first runners hit the ground in 2023
Too Darn Hot has sired 150 individual winners from just 273 starters worldwide
with 23 of those winners at stakes level and 14 at Group level
43 have come in Australia from a total of 82 starters at a strike-rate of 54.9 per cent
He has had a total of ten stakes winners in Australia to date - seven of those at Group level - with the best being four-time Group 1 scorer Broadsiding
His results for the 2023-24 season saw Too Darn Hot crowned the 2024 Champion First Season Sire
a category he led both in earnings and by amount of winners in a display of dominance rarely seen
He also finished runner-up on the leading Australian two-year-old sires list that year
as his first crop results saw him set an earnings record for any first-season sire in history at a season-ending A$4,164,810
Too Darn Hot's spectacular run of results has continued into his second season of progeny in Australia
with the stallion currently a clear leader in the second-season sire's table and
just over A$300,000 in prize-money away from being inside the top ten in the general sires' list
where he currently resides in 14th position
The 2024-25 season has seen Too Darn Hot sire an incredible nine new stakes winners in Australia: Perspiration
The latter six of those nine are winners at Group level to boot
"It's extremely exciting to have him back," Darley Australia's head of sales Alistair Pulford told ANZ Bloodstock News
"When it was announced last year that he wasn't coming back it was very much that they wanted to give him a year off and it wasn't a permanent decision
"We're very grateful to the team at Darley UK and to Watership Down Stud that they've agreed to shuttle him again because he's just such a good stallion and to have him here to cover not just Godolphin's mares
Too Darn Hot's pedigree is one of pure class
Bred by Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber's Watership Down Stud
both of which are by Group 1 winners and out of Group 1-winning mares themselves
"He's a Group 1 champion by a Group 1 champion
and all four of his grandparents are Group 1 winners," Pulford said
"You just don't see pedigrees like that anywhere
you've got Dubawi and Galileo and a few others but I haven't found another stallion where all four of their grandparents are Group 1 winners so you just don't see horses like him very often and he's living up to those expectations in both hemispheres
With Inglis Easter having been conducted at the weekend
there was a rumour going around breeders at Riverside that Too Darn Hot could be on his way back to Australia in 2025 and Pulford admitted the phones at Darley Australia are expected to be busy
with just a limited book set to be offered
"We've been alerting our best clients to the fact that he was likely to come back and with today's confirmation we've had phone calls in the few minutes after the post about it went out," Pulford said
"We're looking forward to the next few days and I know the quality of mares that he is going to get is just going to be unbelievable
"We are very conservative in our stallion management and he's in the midst of covering a large number of mares in the UK and one thing for sure is that he will cover a very limited book of mares here."
Darley's founder and owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum could have been forgiven for deciding to keep Too Darn Hot in the UK
given he has raised himself up to a fee of £90,000 (approx
A$189,740) at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket and sired 13 individual stakes winners in the northern hemisphere already – including Group 1 winners Fallen Angel and Hotazhell – however Pulford rightly pointed out that is not a route His Highness has taken in the past
"He's never shied away from sending his very best stallions and most valuable horses here in the 22 years we've been in existence," Pulford said
"He never shied from sending Bernardini down when he was the hottest horse in America
Medaglia D'Oro who he invested a lot of money in after his first unbelievable crop in America
and when New Approach won the Derby he was on the shuttle books
so his commitment to Australia has never wavered and that's how you create legacies
"You have to be committed and Too Darn Hot has a chance to create a legacy for himself and for everyone that is involved with him."

Darley coach Di McCormack has made the call to step back from the Ballarat Netball League club.
The Devils announced on Friday that McCormack had made the decision to step away after five years at the club.
“After an incredible five years, Di has decided that it is time to step away to spend more quality time with her family,” the club said on social media.
“We are so eternally grateful for all the work she has put into the club over the last several years and the evident progress we have achieved under her leadership.
“Multiple finals appearances, grand finals and BFNL league awards are only a few of the accolades we were lucky to have under Di’s guidance.
“Although we are so sad to see her go, we are thankful for the last seven years and wish her well for her much deserved time with family.”
McCormack joined the Devils after having coached Rupertswood to a premiership in the Riddell District Netball League in 2019.
With her came across a number of players who have been the core of the A-grade side in recent years.
The club’s A-grade side has played in three straight grand finals, having never made an A-grade grand final before in the Ballarat league.
The club’s under-19s also made three straight grand finals, winning the last two with many of those players progressing through the ranks.
All the A-grade squad has signed on for this year.
On the Devils post, McCormack said she was a little heartbroken having made the decision.
“Leaving Darley has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,”she said. “I will always be a Devil at heart.
“My years at Darley have been the most rewarding and cherished of my entire netball coaching journey, and I am filled with so much love and gratitude for everything this club has given me.
“I am incredibly proud of all we’ve achieved together as a club over the past five years. It wasn’t just me who built such a fantastic netball program. It was the incredible group of girls who trusted me as their coach, the support of an amazing committee who always had my back, and the collective efforts of so many.”
“I will miss Darley more than words can express. You are an incredible, talented, and sensational group, and it has been an honor to coach you.”
The Devils haven’t announced McCormack’s replacement.

Blackman has been a long-time disciple of McCormack having played under the club's mentor for the past seven years
She said she was ready for the challenge of lifting Darley to that long-awaited premiership
after three successive grand final losses in recent years
"It was something that came up last minute when Di announced she was stepping down," she said
"I'd spoke to Di beforehand and I was originally planning to help her out and do the C grade for her
she thought it was a good opportunity for me to step up
Blackman said she expects the Devils to line-up much the same way as they have in recent years
suggesting that the team was working hard to go one better this season
"I've known Di for a lot of years and been coached by her for seven years now
having played VNL and as an experienced player
I feel it's my time to try and help the girls achieve
one of our goalers is going to uni in Geelong
but otherwise we'll be pretty much the same team as last year."
She said she was happy with the overall depth of the club
having won multiple lower grade premierships in recent season
"The A's we've been so close the past three years
fingers crossed we can get across the line this year."
Darley has a series of practice matches ahead
including a match-up with Geelong Football Netball League powerhouse South Barwon
The club opens the BFNL season on the road against Melton on April 5

Sudoku and TriviaAll articles from the other regional websites in your areaContinueThe Lions need 91 runs at Darley Park on Saturday with six wickets in hand to claim a first-innings win and replace Bacchus Marsh in fourth position
Having Sajith Dissanayaka fit to bat after retiring hurt on the opening day of the two-day encounter is pivotal to Yates' confidence
The reigning EJ Cleary Medallist and opening batsman was forced from the crease with cramp after making five runs off 17 balls as wickets fell rapidly to have Darley 4-35 in reply to 125
Yates said it was nothing more than a cramp for Dissanayaka
Yates said Dissanayaka would resume his innings at the fall of the next wicket
and this is just the setting in which he thrives
Darley will not want to see Dissanayaka at the crease too quickly
Although the scoreboard does not look great for Darley
Yates has faith that his remaining batsmen can get the job done to tip the Bulls out of the top four
"We're just one partnership of 40 or 50 away
"I'm backing the boys to get the job done," he said
Although 14 wickets fell for just 160 last Saturday
Yates says the pitch does not hold any demons
He said Darley and Bacchus Marsh bowlers each did well
Yates said Darley's run chase would centre on its batsmen applying themselves
He said while there was no rush to get the runs
Darley's other batting to come is made up of Brad Barnes
Their output of late suggests Dissanayaka holds the key after 105 and 90 in his past two innings
Those efforts kept the Lions in the hunt for finals and now it might be up to him to get them over the line
Shanin Silva is the potential match-winner for Bacchus Marsh
but the task at hand will require contributions across the board
BALLARAT-REDAN will have an eye on an outright win against Napoleons-Sebastopol at Marty Busch Reserve
The Two Swords did a good job to survive a crazy day
all that is behind them now and they can purely focus on a good hit-out - particularly with the ball - before taking on a semi-final
Ballarat-Redan will feel satisfied with having second place locked away already
but the thought of finishing on top is sure to have it right on its game
The Two Swords need outright points to make this a possibility
it is out of their hands - they also need Mt Clear to lose to East Ballarat
is going to be tested getting past the Mounties 243
but they will need most of them to fire at Mt Clear
are the not out batsmen and there's plenty to come with Darcy Aitken
who are all more than capable on their day
Mt Clear's Akshay Ballal has proved a handful for many batsmen this season as his 38 wickets demonstrates and then there is Ash George to deal with
The Mounties will want to finish the regular season on a high and retain top position
will be after early wickets against Golden Point
Point should still feel that it can chase down the target
but the loss of three wickets including Josh and Lukas Pegg does leave it vulnerable in a match that carries no weight other perhaps lifting the Bunnies off the bottom
but he has to start again and Buninyong will feel it has a chance to strike
There has been a spread of wickets among the bowlers so far
but it is going to take one to lead the charge
has plenty of runs to play with against Brown Hill at the Western Oval
and on a ground where the boundaries can be easy to find
the Bulls might be able to get a run-on at some stage
Akila Laj]kshan has had an impressive season and he could easily get among the runs again
Winning does look out of reach for Brown Hill though
STANDINGS: Bacchus Marsh 4th (7 wins-5 losses)
MID-MATCH: Bacchus Marsh 125 v Darley 4-35
Bacchus Marsh has its nose in front based on runs on the board
and this is exactly how it panned out on the first day
The Bulls did not look to have enough runs
but that changed with early Darley wickets falling
This is going to be tense all the way with 90 runs standing between the cross-town rivals
MID-MATCH: Mt Clear 243 v East Ballarat 1-12
Wouldn't East Ballarat like to have the last say even though it has disappointingly missed finals
there is a possibility it could cost Mt Clear top position
The Mounties were a game clear at the start of the round
but if they lose and Ballarat-Redan gets outright points against Naps-Sebastopol there'll be a shuffle at the top
The Hawks have a tough chase with nine wickets in hand
MID-MATCH: Buninyong 157 v Golden Point 3-53
Which of these teams will have the most to round out its season on a winning note
There's no question Buninyong would like to take some momentum into next season
There's been a lot of groundwork done at the club this season
and while it's at the bottom end of the ladder
Given how close Golden Point was to playing finals
it should get over the line with Manjula De Zoysa and Josh White still with something to offer with the bat along with ever-dangerous all-rounders such as Simon Ogilvie and Daniel White
MID-MATCH: Naps-Sebas 44 v Ballarat-Redan 8-115
What a strange opening day it was to this match
The Two Swords went in as a hot favourite and
was lucky to dodge a bullet on a bowler-friendly wicket and get first innings points
They have done enough now to perhaps get an outright going into finals
and despite there being only two wickets in hand
there is plenty of scope to build a decisive lead
Naps-Sebas will feel the pressure when it bats again
The Red Caps look to have this match well in hand
They displayed their batting depth to set up this chase and it is hard to see Brown Hill getting near it
The Bulls have reached 200 runs in an innings on five occasions this season
it has only achieved it against a top-four team once
Wendouree will be eager to get the points and start putting its finals plans in place
Tom Godson is Wendouree's leading wicket-taker and could do some damage again

Triple ton: Lusiya Azina helps Kim Bessell celebrate one of her three goals for the game in last Sunday's win over East Point. The Devils sharpshooter notched up her 300th career goal in the match. Photos: DARLEY FNC
DARLEY’S Kim Bessell has notched up plenty of personal accolades and milestones during her football career.
But it’s team success and premierships that the Devils’ goalkicking machine ultimately craves.
The 36-year-old hit another milestone in last Sunday’s 70-point win over East Point when she booted her 300th career goal.
Bessell’s big moment arrived in the third quarter with what was her third of three goals for the game.
She duly moved further up the ground in a bid to aid her teammate Maddy Clark, who is remarkably also closing in on 300 career goals, and is expected to tick off the milestone soon – potentially in her 150th game against Bacchus Marsh in round five on 26 April.
For Bessell, her 300th goal was a poignant reminder of how far Darley’s women’s football program has come.
While the Devils are chasing a premiership three-peat in 2025, times weren’t always so rosy.
“I’m pretty rapt considering the first couple of years, Darley really struggled to even kick a couple of goals a game,” Bessell said.
“We were getting smashed by 244 points in some games.
“I think I won the leading goalkicker award in one of those early seasons and I only kicked four goals.
“The club has definitely come a long way, which is really nice.
“What is nice is we have another one of our girls, Maddy Clarke, who is close to her 300th goal as well.
“She is on 293. It’s pretty good times at Devil-land at the moment.”
Bessell’s 300 goals have come from just 89 games, at a healthy average of 3.4 per game.
Not a bad return for a defender-turned-forward.
She cracked the ton in 2023, booting an astonishing 122 for the season as the Devils charged to a stirring premiership win.
For all her goalkicking exploits, Bessell admits it is team success and camaraderie that ultimately drive her.
“The team is doing well, which is my main priority,” she said.
“I would rather team success over individual success any day of the week.
“I don’t mind kicking a few snags, but obviously I couldn’t do it without the delivery from my teammates.
“I’m just finishing their good work.”
The Devils have again started the season strongly, sitting atop the ladder at 3-0 as one of only two undefeated teams.
They will play Carisbrook this weekend, before a round five showdown against similarly unbeaten Bacchus Marsh.
In a sign that Darley and Redan will have some fierce opposition, the Cobras are yet to concede a goal in three games this season while averaging 105 points per game.
But Bessell can feel a ‘strong as ever’ vibe around Darley as the black and white set their sights on a crack at three straight flags.
“I love playing footy and I love being around the girls – it’s a really great team,” she said.
“Darley is a great club to be around.
“It certainly feels like a home away from home.
“We have won the last two flags and would love to get a third.
“There is nothing like winning a premiership.
“It’s a feeling I’ve felt twice and something I would love to feel again.” More sport on page 29.

Adobe is synonymous with creative professionals, dominating the market for decades with tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator. But as the demand for simpler, more accessible solutions surges, the company finds itself in unfamiliar territory: taking on the likes of Canva. At Web Summit, The Drum gets the inside track on its strategic shift.
This pivot is a bold departure from Adobe’s traditional positioning. For years, Adobe tools have been the gold standard for creatives, but they’ve also been seen as intimidating or out of reach for the everyday user. Adobe Express is designed to change that.
“We’re taking on perceptions head-on,” Darley said. “When people think Adobe, they think high-end, professional tools. Express is about breaking down those barriers and showing that creativity doesn’t have to be complex – or expensive.”
Adobe isn’t rushing the rollout of Express. The product has been carefully re-platformed over the last year, with a mobile launch earlier this year and ongoing updates dropping weekly. “We’ve focused on product-market fit first,” Darley said. “Now it’s about driving awareness and preference.”
Despite its strengths, Adobe Express faces significant challenges. Breaking into a market dominated by Canva requires more than a great product – it requires a cultural shift in how people view Adobe. The company’s dual strategy of expanding into consumer markets while maintaining its enterprise stronghold will test its ability to balance accessibility with the professional-grade reputation that has defined it.
For Darley, the stakes couldn’t be higher. “This is the biggest thing we’re doing,” she said. “Express isn’t just a product; it’s a strategic move to redefine how people see Adobe.” Whether it’s enough to unseat Canva remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Adobe isn’t content to sit on its laurels. With Express, it’s making a play for the future of creativity – and that means taking some risks.

The question now isn’t whether Adobe can match Canva’s ease of use, but whether it can convince the world that Adobe Express is the tool to unlock creativity – no matter who you are or where you’re starting from. As Darley puts it, “This isn’t about replacing anyone. It’s about expanding the creative community – and that’s a fight worth taking on.”

The competition's leading goal shooter decided the time was right to make a move and is now one win away from a much wanted premiership

"It's pretty special for me to be in another grand final

Hicks was loathe to go into too many details about the move except to say it was the right decision for her and her family to look for a new home

"So I made a number of decisions made on my personal issues
I definitely found that I needed something new for my personal self
