Everything in the home has been meticulously thought of

Other unique features include the hair salon

Bifold doors open to a large alfresco area that wraps right around the house
There is also a garage for eight cars and a workshop
The current owner built and designed the extravagant home for entertaining multiple generations of family and is offloading it for lifestyle reasons
he described the home as the “pinnacle” of his passion for building and renovating
with no expense spared and the five bedrooms so large they could be halved again
“There’s nothing like it in and around Templestowe
It’s probably the best in its league,” he said
“There’s so much to mention – it’s a beautiful home
I’d love to build a bigger and grander one than that
“I just hope a good person gets it and uses it the way it’s been set up for.”
Selling agent James Hatzolos said homes like this rarely come up in the region and if sold at the quoted price
“Most luxury homes that we sell at this end of the market are usually 10
so to have a home this young on the market is very
“Most people who build these luxury homes don't build them to sell them
so I think that's the real opportunity to be honest.”
Mr Hatzolos said the property would suit a large young family or those seeking plenty of space for entertaining both outdoors and indoors
“This is going to suit someone who wants their privacy away from all the main drag but doesn't want to compromise their lifestyle,” he said
“It’s for people who want their own little private oasis
While the property offers a private retreat
it is only minutes from Westfield Doncaster and Eastland shopping centres
close to Eastlink and bus links and noted schools including Whitefriars College and Donvale Christian College
“With the cost of building this house today you could not replace this house for under $10 million - that I can guarantee,” Mr Hatzolos added
“It’d suit those who want a new lifestyle property and don't want to go through the expense and heartache and stress of building.”

Nunawading Lions Gold secured their first win of the 2025 Ringwood Mazda netball Division 4 season
defeating Donvale Black by 24 goals in a terrific performance at HE Parker
A 10-1 opening term set the tone for the Lions
who outscored Bayswater in each remaining quarter on their way to producing an impressive 40-16 triumph
The victory could not have stated in better fashion with Sarah Delaney playing her 100th game for the Nunawading Lions
It was a dominant opening half from Nunawading Lions shooter Jordan Smith that played a role in her side’s strong win on Friday night
10 of them coming in the third and fourth quarter
Melanie Van Zuyden was impressive in her own right and scored 17 goals
while teammates Sarah Delaney and Hannah Maw had some great moments for the winning side through the midcourt with their attacking flow and providing energy
Nunawading Lion’s ability to find accurate passes and options were on song
whilst the strong one on one defence was the catalyst in their strong start to the match
they didn’t allow Donvale any easy transitions down the court
the Lions also controlled things as a unit
with five-goals each from Smith and Van Zuyden seeing their side lead by nine at the first break
The intensity didn’t fall away in the second term as the defensive unit of Nunawading Lions
ensuring Donvale only registered five goals for the term
gaining more possession as a result; however
the Lions would end the third term in impressive fashion to extend their advantage to 24 goals approaching the final quarter
Despite the game out of reach approaching the last quarter
The Lions showed plenty of class in the last quarter
resulting in them winning their first match of the season

A Melbourne lawn bowler caused a legal stoush when he died and left his entire estate to a rival bowls club - and some club members believe the move is revenge from beyond the grave
Bruce Hallman was a member of Melbourne's Doncaster Bowls Club for 15 years
and after he passed away in 2022 he left a bequest worth more than $1million to the sport he loved
Bruce left everything to a rival club that he had only visited once - Donvale Bowls Club
The only time Bruce had set foot on the Donvale premises was when he visited for a new membership in 2019
Bruce met with a solicitor and asked him to leave his entire estate to Donvale
'If any member has memories or knowledge of Bruce Hallman
we invite you to share them with us,' wrote puzzled Donvale chairman Ian Bramstedt in a club newsletter
'His positive experience and admiration for our club's friendliness and community offerings led to this generous bequest.'
Doncaster Bowls Club were 'shocked' and believed there must have been a mistake
so they hired a lawyer in anticipation of a legal fight
But they were advised that the matter wasn't worth pursuing
'We did contest the will to a point,' Doncaster Bowling Club executive chairman Trevor Dawson told News Corp.
'But there was no value in going any further.
'The matter is finished as far as we're concerned. Donvale got the money and there's nothing we can do about it.'
There's reported speculation from club members that Bruce had been unhappy with people from Doncaster and might have changed his will as payback.
Mr Dawson disagreed with those claims, however.
'There was no tension between Bruce and any of our members,' he said.
Donvale are excited about the windfall and already have plans for upgrading their facilities - including covering the greens with a dome to play all year around and installing lights for night games.
'We're going to be one of only a handful of clubs without pokies to have these type of facilities,' said chairman Ian Bramstedt.
'A once-in-a-lifetime bequest like this deserves a once-in-a-lifetime infrastructure improvement.'

The chairman of a suburban bowls club in Melbourne has explained how 'going above and beyond' to a non-member saw them eventually gifted an estate of more than $1million
Donvale Bowls Club chairman Ian Bramstedt told Sunrise's Matt Shirvington and Natalie Barr on Friday he was stunned to hear his club were the beneficiaries of the money left by Bruce Hallman
Hallman was a member of the rival Doncaster Bowls Club for 15 years - but chose not to leave them his significant bequest.
we are over the moon about it,' Bramstedt said
'It will enable our club to continue to grow and prosper
it is still hard to believe..it has secured our future.'
Bramstedt said a Donvale member who drove to Hallman's nursing home one day ahead of a membership drive in 2019 was the likely catalyst for the generous donation
'He played pennants against our club a few times
and we thought one day we would bring him down and buy him a few beers,' he said
'[By all reports] he didn't have any family and was an eccentric character
we all would have liked to get to know him better
'He got sick during the [Covid] pandemic so he didn't get to join our club which is a shame...clearly he liked our hospitality
'But it goes without saying we are very appreciative of his generosity
we don't need to go and sell sausages at Bunnings now.'
Bramstedt went onto add Hallman's will was closely analysed to ensure the seven-figure donation wasn't accidently passed onto the wrong bowls club
Doncaster launched legal action - but executive chairman Trevor Dawson was informed there were no further avenues for them to pursue
According to News Corp, there was some speculation Hallman had been 'unhappy with a few members of his old club.'
Donvale already have plans to upgrade their facilities - including covering the greens with a dome to play all year around and installing lights for night games.

An entire men's footy team has been stood down amid an investigation after they allegedly rated a women's team's looks as they made their way onto the field.
One of the female players has told of how she 'felt helpless' when she and her Donvale teammates entered the field of play after half-time against Knox, with male players from the rival club rating the players '1-10' or as 'hot or not'.
The men also tried to trip the women as they ran out.
Now, the club has announced that the entire men's reserve team has been stood down indefinitely pending an invesitgation into the incident.
One Donvale player, speaking to News Corp anonymously, said the incident was 'overwhelming' and that she and her teammates already felt 'uncomfortable' before the comments were made. After the game, she says they broke down in tears.
'It was really hard to take in as we had a game to play but as soon as the game was over and we all realised what happened a lot of us broke down in tears and just felt helpless,' she said.
'Personally I haven't had anything as full on as this. I've had individual men come up to me and say things that aren't really appropriate but this was a group of 20 men standing, laughing and making comments about us.
'The only thing I want to emphasise is the amount of other men from Knox that were around them not saying anything.
'Unfortunately I really do believe that men aren't going to stop behaving like this unless other men call it out, they don't listen to women.'
The incident happened during an Eastern Football Netball League match and the player insists strong sanctions need to be handed down.
'There needs to be a punishment because unfortunately these boys aren't going to learn unless something like footy gets taken away from them,' she said.
'I think there needs to be education and an outside group that comes in to educate everyone.'
The incident has led to widespread outcry from the footy community, with Port Adelaide star Travis Boak publicly condemning the episode.
'(It) is for the club and the league to handle (the) punishment but is just a sorry going to cut it? Will this affect any change in behaviour,' he told News Corp.
'High standards in regards to respect need to be set in all workplaces and then a high level of support to help educate everyone the importance of being a good human being and the effects it has.
'It's not about 'you have done this, you're a bad person' but about how you can learn and be better from this because this isn't the level of respect we have for women and people in our community.'
Boak said only men can change the behaviour of men towards women.
'No one is above anyone, we are all equal and respect for women and women in sport is a part of being a good human being,' he said.
'This sort of action just doesn't represent how we should show up in the world particularly towards women and women in football where the game has grown so much and become a huge success in terms of young girls striving to play at the top level and follow their AFL heroes.'
An investigation is underway and Knox announced its reserves team has been stood down 'indefinitely' until the probe is completed.
'Our internal investigation executed by KFNC in conjunction with Donvale Football Club revealed that the individuals involved were members of our development team,' a club statement said.
'At the request of KFNC, the EFNL have engaged an independent investigation into the incdent to ensure transparency and accountability.
'KFNC are implementing a comprehensive behavioural and domestic violence educational program across the entire club. Participation in this program will be mandatory for all members, with a 'no education, no play' rule in effect.
'We understand the gravity of this situation and the importance of taking swift and decisive action.'
Donvale president John Giles said: 'Donvale Football Club have been made aware by our women's team that they were subjected to offensive remarks by an opposing club on Saturday.
'This is a matter of serious concern and we are investigating further.
'In addition we have been informed that both the opposing club and the league are investigating the matter.
'We feel that no further comment should be made by us until these investigations are completed.'

There’s 20kw of solar panelling attached to the roof
Towering mansions don’t have a reputation for cheap power bills
but a Donvale dream home has turned that assumption on its head
Boasting two Tesla batteries, 20kw of solar and a system that feeds the surplus back into the grid, 5 Pambara Court doesn’t pay a cent on the dreaded quarterly energy bills
vendors Ingo Reisch and Shauna Kerrigan are actually making money by redistributing their excess power
also features huge double glazed windows in a breathtaking modern living zone
double height insulation and hydronic floor heating run via solar power
The architecturally designed open-plan kitchen
The home contains a Cheminees Philippe fireplace
It totals to approximately $50,000 spent by the family on their economical energy system
“A place like ours would cost with today’s power kilowatt rate about $2,500-$3,000 a quarter
but we are in credit — any new owner would probably be neutral,” Mr Reisch said
“I’m very big on this alternative energy.”
That interest stems from Mr Reisch’s time spent running BMW dealerships
The couple first moved to the property about 20 years ago in search of more space for Ms Kerrigan to pursue her own passion
The home has a price guide of $3.7-$4 million
Magnificent treetop views alongside a water feature
it was mainly done because of my wife’s passion for horses — which has transferred to our two daughters,” Mr Reisch said of the move
“The old ranch style house is still there but we’ve added new additions … I’m really happy with what we’ve done here.”
Having watched their children grow up on the Donvale property
Mr Reisch said the family were starting to get emotional about moving
“We’re going to be sorry to move out but it will open up a new chapter and gives me something to do with my energy stuff,” Mr Reisch said
“Hopefully it goes to someone who appreciates it and will have a fantastic time here.”

Dual vanities and separate bath and shower in the ensuite
Jellis Craig Doncaster director Daniel Broadbent said the home’s proportions made it “spectacular”

Despite the rumpus room and conservatory’s appeal
“I’m still finding different bits and pieces about the home

it’s huge … and it looks like it’s come out of a castle.”

A Victorian football club has been forced to issue a public apology after male players used a shocking rating system on opposition female players and tried to trip them over as they ran out for a match
The incident occured in the Eastern Football Netball League in a match between Knox and Donvale FC last weekend
'As the women ran out at half time, male players from Knox lined up on either side of the race, and yelled at ratings for each player,' 3AW radio star Jacqui Felgate said
'They held out their legs to trip the women over and used the phrases yes
'The players were rightly upset but they played out the rest of the game
'We're talking about adult men here who choose to threaten and intimidate female players who are out on a weekend playing a game that they love football
'I hope the men that did this that subjected women to more foul aggressive behaviour are held to account
I don't know exactly how many were involved ..
I've been told more than 20 other players watched it happen and didn't speak up.'
Compounding the issue, the alleged incident happened during the league's domestic violence awareness round with the Donvale players wearing pink socks to support Breast Cancer Network Australia.
'A minute's silence was held at this very ground as a mark of respect. And at the same game women are rated yes, no, mediocre,' Felgate said.
'How utterly awful and how utterly exhausting that we're still at the point where women can't play sport without being objectified.'
Knox released a statement from president Paul Blair apologising for the actions of the male players.
'You may be aware of an incident that occurred at half time in the women's game where KFNC Players made anti-social behaviour or behaviour that is disrespectful towards the Donvale women's players,' the statement said.
'Behaviour of this kind is completely unacceptable at our club, and we are deeply concerned by the incident.
'We are committed to take firm action to ensure that our community are aware that we condemn this type of behaviour.
'We have extended our deepest apologies to the Donvale Football club, and will continue to work closely with them and the EFNL to keep them informed on the outcome and actions we will take as a result of our investigation.
'The safety of all players is paramount and we do not tolerate anti-social behaviour or behaviour that is disrespectful to women.
'As a club we take this matter seriously and will be taking a strong stance on this, as this is not what we stand for as a club and we do not condone these actions.'
Port Adelaide star Travis Boak denounced the behaviour on X, formerly known as Twitter.
'We have to be better than this,' he wrote.
'Surely has to be more than just an apology.'
Former Hockeyroos star turned Channel 7 AFL presenter Georgie Parker replied: 'This is such f***ing loser behaviour'.
3AW have reported that Donvale Football Club have declined to make comment while the investigation is ongoing.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Donvale Football Club and the Eastern Football Netball League for comment.

Bold bidding from family buyers achieved an “exceptional result” at a Doncaster East auction
Four groups, mostly made up of local young families eager to upsize, pushed the price for 11 Brindy Cres up to $1.402 million under the hammer

there were two buyers just not wanting to let go,” Mr Pittas said
“The fact of the matter is there’s a real pent-up demand from buyers who are looking to take advantage of the prices just before they start to go up a lot higher
which is what we’re forecasting between now and next year.”
Local interest was ultimately overcome by young family buyers from Kew for the two-storey brick house
“I guess it’s because the property they bought in Kew is going to be worth a lot more; they’re probably used to paying those sort of prices in those areas,” Mr Pittas said

“It’s really tastefully done; the appeal is the vendors spent a lot of time designing and internally fitting it out,” Jellis Craig Doncaster director Andrew Keleher said

All other Manningham suburbs were recorded as “plateauing” in the report
Jellis Craig Doncaster director Andrew Keleher said Donvale and Templestowe were “smashed a lot harder” during the recent downturn so were more likely than other suburbs to rebound strongly
“In Templestowe you’ve got those $4 million homes; we just don’t have that in Doncaster East
Mr Keleher said as homes in most Manningham suburbs started to see price growth
more homeowners were able to afford the move to traditional lifestyle properties in Templestowe and Donvale
The report also noted that unit markets were outperforming housing markets and contributing to a post-boom recovery
Doncaster East have been in demand with buyers
Mr Keleher said “affordability” within school zones was contributing to the trend
with Doncaster East seeing a 13 per cent fall in house prices contrasted to a 9 per cent rise in unit prices over the last year
Hotspotting founder Terry Ryder said apartment markets made up 79 per cent of the 73 Melbourne markets where median prices had risen annually
“Sales activity (now) shows solid evidence of the recovery that has emerged in Melbourne since the federal election,” he said

SUBURB PROFILE: DONVALE
The former Bupa Donvale in Melbourne’s east will reopen as a Chinese culture focused aged care facility after being snapped up by an offshore investor
The 1.82 hectare holding – a former Sizzlers – at 296-302 Springvale Road collected $12 million
115-bed 6600 square metre facility will now be refurbished
The deal comes seven months since another investor acquired an ex-Burwood aged care home
also with plans to retain its use following a renovation
“Until recently Chinese groups have focused primarily o development of retail investment assets
however that interest is now widening to include aged care
who marketed 296-302 Springvale Road with Marcello Caspani-Muto and Sandro Peluso
“This aligns with rapid growth in China’s middle class,” he added

Also in March, Maiestas Care purchased New Gisborne’s former Warrina Aged Care home for c$24m with plans to occupy
Last September meanwhile, NorthWest Healthcare acquired Mt Eliza’s ex-Chronos Care complex
That deal came hot on the heels of the Knowles family snaring a vacant block opposite Ringwood Golf Course for $7.5m for it Arcare aged care division
However the c1899 Darnlee mansion in Toorak, for decades until recently owner occupied by Bluecross, failed to attract another aged care provider when it was listed earlier this year, instead selling to auction house Smith & Singer

the volume of vacant seniors living and healthcare assets continues to climb,” Mr Caspani-Muto said
“We saw record volumes of transaction activity in 2022 and we are on track to surpass that again in 2023,” he added

Melbourne-based developer Oz Property have announced the completion of a highly-anticipated new townhome collection in the suburb of Donvale
The project boldly brings smaller footprint living into Victoria's suburban spotlight. Juxtaposed against sprawling multi-million-dollar homes – Donvale Residences prove that you can achieve high-quality liveability
Drawing inspiration from innovative techniques used for urban residential design, the collaborative project between developer Oz Property and architect Cera Stribley
architecturally-designed homes on a 750 square metre site
The development also had to adhere to the suburb's 9-metre height limit and Manningham Council's DDO8 (shadowing) restrictions
creating a challenge to deliver an innovative design response while also meeting buyer demand
As a very car-centric neighbourhood, Oz Property opted for a mechanical car parking system by WOHR
which allows for the parking of two stacked cars
the building's joinery is defined with striking black external architraves
with deep cantilevered balconies providing privacy and maximising access to sunlight
The interiors feature exposed timber beams and ornate fluted glass
aiding as a nod to the suburb's rich tapestry of mid-century modern architecture
"Australia is enjoying a resurgence in cool modernist architecture and these townhouses intentionally borrow heavily from the classic mid-century design aesthetic
The steel blade reveals and the facades highly graphic quality give the building a more contemporary
Oz Property Director Raghav Goel explains that it was important to create a development that would be sensitive to the surrounding neighbourhood and honour Donvale's history
"We were conscious of the suburban setting and Donvale's history
so we wanted this to be part of the brief to the design team
The external form is broken into pairs and it reads similar to a lower density development
It doesn't interrupt the flow in the streetscape
as we wanted to ensure we weren't creating something that stood out – but blended in."

MELBOURNE'S Coptic Orthodox Church has been accused of trying to dodge proper planning process in its bid to build a sprawling sports and accommodation complex on the edge of one of Melbourne's green wedges

Donvale was listed on Monday with an asking price of between $1.4 and $1.5 million
purchased the property 10 years ago while a young player with former team Hawthorn
It was before the 31-year-old met and married the love of his life
Jellis Craig director William Lyall said the property had been home to Mr Franklin’s dad, Lance Franklin senior, until he recently moved back to WA.
Mr Lyall said the Franklins decided to sell up after Buddy’s father’s move, preferring not to rent to people outside the family. They were planning to invest elsewhere.
“They thought about it and rather than keep it as an investment for non-family members they decided they would rather sell it,” he said.
“Both Lance and Jesinta are busy with their clothing and apparel business and modelling.”
While the home was not used by the glamour couple, their lives were a definite feature of it, particularly given Mr Franklin senior had a dedicated room for his son’s football memorabilia.
“He had everything from his junior and state representative photos, through to his time with Hawthorn and of course with the Sydney Swans memorabilia,” Mr Lyall said.
“He also had a Melbourne jumper on the wall because he is a huge Melbourne fan,” he said “It looked a little out of place in there,” Mr Lyall said with a laugh.
“That’s now all been removed for the sale.”
Mr Lyall said Mrs Franklin had been involved in small refurbishment of the home in preparation for the auction which is being held in November.
“It’s a lovely home in a sensational area,” Mr Lyall said. “It would suit a variety of people.”
The Franklins now live in Rose Bay in a renovated home close to the Sydney Swans home ground, buying their current home for a reported $2.35 million in 2016.
The auction is being held on Saturday, November 10, at 1pm.

On Thursday the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission issued a public warning about the risks of DIY car repairs
It said 120 people had died since 2000 as a result of DIY car repairs
The research also found it was men between the ages of 40 and 49 who were most likely to die while working on cars
and that fatalities most often involved the vehicle being lifted and supported incorrectly
have been crushed and killed while working under their car,” ACCC deputy chair Mick Keogh said
It's hoped that a new short video outlining how to perform repairs safely will help backyard mechanics avoid the most common mistakes when working underneath vehicles
“We want to get the message out that people should never get under a vehicle supported only by a jack
they should always use support stands or ramps
The consumer authority warned against relying solely on a vehicle's handbrake for safety
as the brake can become disengaged during work
“This is why it’s so important to have multiple levels of safety controls in place," Mr Keogh said
