Amended plans have been submitted for the Elanora Hotel redevelopment
The amended plans were submitted to Central Coast Council for the redevelopment of the East Gosford hotel after feedback from the Regional Planning Panel
“The plans have been amended to improve the external appearance of the lower terrace area
and to provide a more active frontage to Adelaide St
as requested,” an update on behalf of the applicant
“The updated plans provide a more open presentation for the lower terrace area to Adelaide St and internally within the site
including glazed folding doors and vertical sliding windows
“A small balcony area facing Adelaide St is also proposed
Updated social impact assessments and plans of management are in the pipeline
The proposal involves demolition of the existing motel behind the pub and replacing it with a new three storey 60-room motel facing Brougham St
the bottle shop renewed and a new two-level parking area constructed
Public feedback to the proposed redevelopment at 41 Victoria St
has ranged from excited approval to criticism that it is like an RSL club
blokey venues where almost every room has multiple TV screens,” one submission says
“Pubs do not need play areas and the proposed combination of a 60-room motel
a bottle shop and family areas sounds more like an RSL-type of development
which is not really in keeping with the village atmosphere of East Gosford.”

the bottle shop renewed and a new two-level parking area with new one-way access driveways to Victoria Str (in and out)
The included addresses are: 41-45 and 29-31 Victoria St; 27 and 27A Adelaide St; and 20 and 16 Brougham St
The allowed building height for the site is 11.5m and the plan would see the maximum height contained at 11.16m
The alterations and additions would extend the hotel to the north-east
and provide additional dining and service areas
including a terrace area on the north-eastern side with a retractable roof which will be permanently closed from 10pm each evening
Internal alterations to the existing hotel would include a new pedestrian entry from the internal car park and a new children’s play area
Lift and stair access would provide access to the lower car parking areas and the motel
The application proposes the operation of a shuttle bus service
The peak operating times of the hotel have been identified as 6.30-8.30pm on Friday and Saturday nights and 12-2pm on Sundays
would operate from two hours prior to the start of the peak times to one hour after the peak times
Each trip would take up to 30 minutes to pick up passengers from the area bounded by West Gosford
the bus would complete six trips with12 passengers per trip
“It can be expected that local trade professionals will be utilised in the construction/fit out phase of the development creating a positive outcome in the short to medium term,” the application says
maintenance and other services required by all elements of the development will provide sustained
long-term employment to a section of the local and wider Central Coast communities
“It can also be expected that the operation of the renovated and expanded Elanora Hotel site will require continued and increased long term employment.”
The application says further opportunities could be created in the local retail / service sector with more people
restaurants and entertainment venues in the surrounding local centre with the economic multiplier effect impacting local business investment and employment in the area
was lodged on December 19 and will probably be assessed by the regional planning panel some time next year
what a great development for the central coast
Just do it – great revamp with a modern motel which we need on the Central Coast
May I also comment on the Regional Planning Committee – give it the flick a waste of time third party interference
It’s already a great pub but this will be next level and it will be so good to have some extra quality accommodation in the Gosford area
Please can someone tell me if Warnevale town centre still getting built in the near future I move to Woongarrah 20 years ago and then I been told by the Wyong council about this town centre was getting build now it’s been 20 years and I still see nothing getting done with the amount of houses getting built in warnevale now there is nothing there with lake haven all ready to crowd we need more shops to accommodate the amount of people coming here

Developer couple Alex and Toby Donelan pulled off a stunning six-month flip after purchasing the 1,144 sqm waterfront property at 188 Nineteenth Ave for $1.85m in May 2023
three-bathroom house with a pool and basketball court was marketed by Dan and Essie Moloney

The southern Gold Coast suburb has been regarded as the “bridesmaid suburb” to neighbouring Palm Beach
but is attracting attention for its larger block sizes and private waterways
Bridesmaid suburbs are those located around more expensive hotspots

PropTrack data shows the median house price in Elanora is $1.2m
A typical house a few blocks over in Palm Beach costs $1.56m
The suburb record in Elanora was previously set at $1.9m in February 2023 with the sale of a 2020-built luxury home on a 756 sqm lot along the same stretch
A gas-strut operated window extends the kitchen bench to form an outside bar
Mr Moloney said the latest sale was the culmination of a busy marketing campaign

The sale price of the Elanora Hotel at East Gosford
CoreLogic records have revealed that John Singleton and his company Bonython paid a combined sum of $12.02 million for East Gosford’s Elanora Hotel and surrounding streets
Property data shows that transactions for the multimillion-dollar purchase were split
with the pub itself selling for $6 million
and the surrounding property on Victoria St
Brougham St and Adelaide St adding up to $6.02 million
The Elanora Hotel is a much-loved Central Coast watering hole
The advertising tycoon now owns a combined 7776sqm of prime Central Coast real estate
However the savvy entrepreneur and his team at Bonython managed to negotiate a killer off-market deal with the Cusick family
who owned the successful establishment for more than 50 years
While the property sale can be confirmed as $12 million
neither Singleton or the Cusick family would confirm how much the business exchanged for

Major Darren Elsley leads Freedom Chapel at the Palm Beach/Elanora Corps on Queensland’s Gold Coast
“A supportive and encouraging gathering for people journeying through the hurts and hassles of life,” is how Freedom Chapel at the Palm Beach/Elanora Corps is described by Corps Officers Majors Darren and Leanne Elsley
Freedom Chapel is a safe and authentic space for all
“We gather to share our experiences and hopes and celebrate our journey of recovery and our freedom won in Christ,” said Darren
“And we are all on that journey of recovery
all recovering from the effects of The Fall and our wilful separation from God.”
Freedom Chapel is a cafe-style interactive meeting that attracts people of all ages from the local community
as well as those recovering from addictions
The style is relaxed – discussing a different topic each night
and being open in a safe and caring environment
regardless of their beliefs and where they are in their faith journey,” said Darren
“This is the authentic Salvation Army
We don’t want to introduce traditions or get stuck in our ways.”
Jesus is always the focus at Freedom Chapel
Leanne said Freedom Chapel was a place where people could be authentic and vulnerable
while focused on Jesus as the higher power in their lives
and seeing how they can look after each other
and how God wants our communities to be,” she said
Area Officers Majors David and Michele Terracini
Courts and Prisons Chaplain Major Chris Cohen and people from both the Tweed Heads and Gold Coast Temple Corps also lead some of the meetings
“I am so grateful for this church,” said one attendee
but also help me to give back to the best of my ability.”
Freedom Chapel is just one of a range of Salvation Army expressions on Queensland’s Gold Coast and in Northern NSW

Darren and Leanne assumed additional leadership of the Palm Beach/Elanora Corps in January 2019
which has also allowed The Salvation Army Palm Beach officers’ quarters to be refitted into a transition house for recovery services graduates
The house’s four residents are now closely connected to the Palm Beach/Elanora Corps

with many items also being sourced from Tweed Red Shield Family Store
“The issue of affordable housing is a huge one and a lot of our graduating folk have nowhere to go and end up back in the environments they came from,” said Darren
“Providing a low-cost supportive environment enables them to be supported as they continue their recovery journey
they can draw on something that they’re passionate about
such as one resident who is a horticulturalist and helps with our community garden
“It helps them become productive members of society and shows them that opportunity can come from adversity

will take the modern home on a 602sq m block to auction on December 14
Mr Jaz said adding the pool to the lower ground level was the best solution for the owners due to the placement of an easement down the side of the block
“The home has been elevated so it has the foundation of a pole home structure

$600 million of sewage treatment upgrades are in the pipeline for City of Gold Coast
including a $160 million upgrade to expand the Coombabah Sewage Treatment Plant’s total capacity by 30 per cent to service an additional 140,000 people
said that the $160 million upgrades ensure that the Coombabah Sewage Treatment Plant will cater for the northern and central part of the city for many years and will service more than 480,000 people
“This upgrade is part of a $600 million planned investment in upgrading sewage treatment plants to increase capacity and reduce the environmental impact,” Mr Tate said
“This is vital infrastructure as we plan for our future population which we know will grow significantly in coming years
Mr Tate said that the project also included $6 million to improve the plant’s odour control unit
a cogeneration facility was completed at the Coombabah facility which provides about 300KW of power to the site
This power is created using methane gas generated from the sewage treatment process to produce electricity which then supplies energy to the plant’s equipment thereby reducing Energex costs and minimising emissions and greenhouse gases

A large emergency services response was called to a fire that destroyed a garage and vehicles at Elanora Heights
02 June) multiple NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews were called to a property at Dendrobium Crescent
First on scene and witnessing large amounts of smoke
firefighters from FRNSW Narrabeen Station declared a second alarm fire and requested additional support
With the incident location falling within the Rural Fire Service response zone
Terrey Hills and Davidson also responded to the scene
along with a commander from Northern Beaches Headquarters
The area at Elanora Heights is semi-rural with large properties
firefighters found the garage of a home well alight
the nearest fire hydrant was a considerable distance from the seat of the fire
Firefighters established a pump system using multiple vehicles to relay water from the hydrant to firefighters in breathing apparatus
Fire protection was put in place to prevent any spread of the fire to the separate residence or the surrounding bushland
The occupants of the property were home at the time of the fire and fortunately not injured during the incident
A NSW Ambulance Inspector attended the scene to assess them for possible effects of smoke inhalation or shock
Ausgrid also attended the incident to disconnect power from the home
firefighters had brought the fire under control and were ensuring it had been fully extinguished
The garage and vehicles inside were completely destroyed
It is understood one of the vehicles burned was a classic Volkswagen Kombi van
The discovery of possible asbestos in the remains resulted in contamination protocols being enacted
with hot and warm zones established and only firefighters using breathing apparatus allowed in the building
All firefighters were also then required to carefully decontaminate their gear upon moving away from the building
An additional RFS crew equipped with breathing apparatus was called in from Beacon Hill to assist with salvage and overhaul operations
Crews were complete at the incident scene shortly after 3.00pm
A small hotspot flared up just before 4.45pm which was quickly extinguished by a crew of five from Ingleside Rural Fire Brigade
The source of the fire remains under investigation with NSW Police and fire investigators attending the scene
Initial inquiries have indicated the likely cause to have been a possible electrical fault with an appliance that was operating in the garage

A climber has been rescued after falling from a cliff at Elanora Heights
Just after 1.15pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday
and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Narrabeen Station
responded to a report of a climber injured after falling from a cliff near Bungoona Avenue
It is understood a 22-year-old man had been climbing with friends on the escarpment between Deep Creek and Elanora Heights
The man reportedly misjudged a section of the climb
slipping and swinging back on his rope into the rock face
He was helped down to a safe location by climbing companions who called Triple Zero (000)
Four NSW Ambulance crews responded to the scene
including NSW Ambulance Inspector Christian Holmes and two Special Operations Paramedics who are specially trained to conduct vertical rescues
The Special Operations Paramedics made their way into the man’s location with specially trained vertical rescue firefighters from Narrabeen Station
The FRNSW crew from Narrabeen had recently familiarised themselves with the area as a location that was popular with climbers
They found the man’s position at the base of the cliff just after 2.00pm
Paramedics used the gear they had carried in to stabilise the man’s injured leg and give him pain relief
and a considerable distance from the nearest access point across flat terrain
they devised a plan to lift the man back up the cliff face using a FRNSW ‘Arizona Vortex A-frame’ rope system (image above) and stokes litter (image below)
With the assistance of other climbers who were in the vicinity
the man was first carefully placed into the stokes litter and carried around 50m to where the rope system could be safely set up at the top of the cliff
just after 4.00pm a team of firefighters from Narrabeen and Mona Vale Stations commenced the rope haul of the stretcher containing the well-secured man up the cliff face
accompanied by one of the Special Operations Paramedics (image below)
The man was then carried approximately 100m along a fire trail to a NSW Ambulance at Amaroo Avenue
where he was given a further clinical assessment and offered more pain relief
before being taken to Northern Beaches Hospital in a stable condition just after 4.45pm

Expansion PlansAdvertising guru John “Singo” Singleton is planning to build a modern motel in Gosford after filing plans to extend “The Elly”
Singleton’s investment arm Bonython purchased the Elanora Hotel on the Central Coast in 2019 for around $25 million. With an adjoining block
The $32-million plans would extend the hotel and replace a former motel
The aging buildings would be demolished to make way for a three-storey motel with 60 rooms
car parking areas and an extension to the hotel on the north-east side of the site
It would double the Elanora Hotel gross floor area to 2300sq m as well as new appearance—a light-coloured brick finish with vertical articulation along Adelaide Street
It is one of many hospitality-based ventures for the media mogul

The Central Coast Council is making a concerted effort to revamp the region’s night-time economy as a core part of its development strategy to 2040
One of the key findings of the night-time economy draft report that is on exhibition until February was the “overall lack of vibrancy and things to do at night” in the Central Coast townships
Council unit manager of economic development and property Jamie Barclay said they wanted to support after-dark operations and provide more opportunities for employment and tourism
“Night-time economy businesses are more than nightclubs,” Barclay said
“The end-game is to enhance and activate the night-time economy and create better places for the local community and visitors to enjoy after dark on the Central Coast.”
Investment on the Central Coast ramped up in 2023 with Sydney-based developer and builder Aland breaking ground on a $375-million twin-tower apartment project in Gosford
Maxims Building Co lodged plans in September to increase the number of apartments in its seven-storey residential development in the heart of Gosford
Singo has multiple projects in the region including the Saddle Nursery at Mount White
the Bonython Commercial Tower and the nearby Pretty Beach House hotel to name a few.
