But, it’s the Schnitty, cushioned by thick, white high-top bread slices, that pulls the crowds. It’s a sandwich you could use as a pillow. Good height, utter softness and a hearty interior. Crispy chicken schnitzel crispiness giving way to tender flesh, with herby mayonnaise, buoyant folds of mixed lettuce and more caramelised carrot. I know these are only sandwiches. But they’re packed munificently with ace ingredients and framed in good bread from Omoore Delight Bakery six minutes away in the Engadine Arcade. Even our receipt comes with happy exclamation marks. Sturmann is full of praise for staff at Engadine and Cronulla. “They’re very important to us,” she says. “Our manager in Cronulla started working for us when she was 13 and she’s 20 now.” Sturmann, Wirth and Toutounji also strive for a community feel. If he changes anything, I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’.” Sturmann, who lives in Engadine, cofounded Loaf in Cronulla when she was 25 and opened the latest shop seven months after the birth of her second child, says franchises are a possibility, including in the UK. “I never thought I’d open a cafe,” she says. “No offence to people who have it as their dream, but it definitely wasn’t mine. “It blows my mind the amount of work it takes to run a sandwich shop. Link copiedShareShare articleA man who allegedly stabbed his partner while driving in Sydney’s south lashed out at those who rushed to her aid after the car crashed, police say. A 58-year-old man was travelling in a car southbound on Princes Highway at Engadine and stabbed his passenger, a woman in her 40s, multiple times before crashing into another car, police allege.  Superintendent Donald Faulds, from the Sutherland Shire Police Area Command, said the pair were in a domestic relationship.  The Princes Highway was closed in both directions at the intersection of Old Bush Road.  (ABC News) "A number of witnesses mentioned that the car was driving quite erratically at the time, and we believe that was when the assault was occurring ... and as a result they then collided with another vehicle."  The woman, from south-west Sydney, was in a stable condition. Superintendent Faulds said while there were no active Apprehended Violence Orders between the two, the man was known to police.  Another man, who police said tried to help the woman in the car, was also allegedly stabbed in the abdomen and is in a serious but stable condition.  The man, who police allege got out of the car wielding a box cutter, suffered self-inflicted stab wounds. He ran from the scene but was chased and tasered before being taken into police custody. He was transported to Liverpool hospital in a critical condition, but is now in a serious but stable condition. The police officer who suffered a laceration to his arm while arresting the man is in a serious but stable condition. Two other people were also injured as a result of the car crash. They are in hospital in a stable condition. Police said multiple calls were made to triple-0 after the two-car crash at the intersection of Princes Highway and Old Bush Road about 9am.  A number of people stopped to assist believing it was a normal car accident. "They've obviously gone to render assistance to both people and then they were faced with a male with a box cutter," Superintendent Faulds said. Police said 'brave' bystanders tried to assist people in both cars without realising the man was holding a box cutter.  (AAP: Dean Lewins) Terrified witnesses have described a man in a bloodstained shirt banging on their car windows.  One witness who did not want to be identified told the ABC he saw the man get out of the car yelling "I'm going to kill you". "When the cops came he ran down the street screaming. They shot the taser at him right on the footpath, but it didn't even seem to touch the sides, he just kept bolting," he said. David and Tahlia Pike, and their eight-month-old baby, live just a few doors away from where it all unfolded. When they heard a loud bang, they also thought it was a car crash but then they heard the arguing and saw the man standing outside the car holding what they described as "some type of blade". "He kept on threatening to kill himself," Mr Pike  said. Ms Pike added that he was yelling "weird stuff". "Like 'freedom, you all need to open your eyes' and then he’d swear and say 'you need to open your eyes'," she said. The Pikes also saw a number of people trying to protect the woman sitting inside the car by keeping the car doors shut. According to Mr Pike, one good Samaritan grabbed a fishing hook from his boat to push the man away. But they all had to step back when another person rendering assistance was injured. Wayne bravely stood between the alleged offender and the stabbed woman.  (ABC News: Sarah Gerathy) Wayne was among the people who bravely stood between the suspect and the stabbed woman, despite the man threatening him. "We got him away enough for her to be protected in the car, he didn't go near the car again," he said. Despite feeling like he had being "hit with a brick", Wayne said he did what had to be done at the time, and denied being a hero, saying the real hero was the man who stood against the door. With the fatal stabbing incident at Westfield Bondi Junction in April still fresh in Wayne's mind, he wondered where it would happen next, and had a message for NSW Premier Chris Minns. "Chris, come on mate, we need to sort this out really before anybody else gets hurt," he said.  "The police are out there doing their jobs everyday, the paramedics are doing their job, they don't know whether they will be coming home. "It's not fair, it's not fair, be realistic and listen to the community, mate, please." Mobile phone footage obtained by the ABC shows the man running from the scene with police in pursuit.  In another video, he is pinned to the ground under arrest after being tasered.  NSW Premier Chris Minns posted on social media that he had been briefed on the incident and his thoughts were with "those innocent people who have been injured". Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the incident "shocking and distressing" on X and he thanked the first responders and the "brave members of the public who helped at the scene". Earlier today, police minister Yasmin Catley said an investigation was underway.  Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward.  CNN and the BBC World Service which is copyright and cannot be reproduced AEST = Australian Eastern Standard Time which is 10 hours ahead of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) Quality and EleganceArchitecturally designed with no expense spared this brand new two storey luxury residence is truly impressive With striking street appeal and grand proportions throughout your new home exudes quality and sophistication high end inclusions and exceptional attention to detail an abundance of natural light throughout the entire home and seamless indoor/outdoor integration for effortless entertaining Perfection continues outdoors with covered merbau entertainment decking low maintenance grassed yard & garden and of course the spectacular salt water plunge pool to enjoy in the warmer seasons • Ducted reverse cycle air conditioning to ensure year round comfort • 2.7m high ceilings both upstairs & downstairs • Massive master bedroom with walk-in robe • Guest bedroom downstairs with beautiful ensuite • Stunning kitchen with mirrored splashbacks & Caesarstone benchtops • Gorgeous main bathroom with deep corner bathtub & heated towel rack • Appealing plantation shutters throughout • Premium Hydrotuff hybrid flooring downstairs • Double remote controlled double garage Conveniently positioned within walking distance to schools Located on the fringe of the Royal National Park Engadine is located under an hour south of Sydney CBD by train or car The beach is an easy twenty minute drive to your choice of Cronulla or Stanwell Park which is also on the doorstep of Bald Hill and the Sea Cliff Bridge We invite you to inspect this remarkable home and we are proud to be helping Australians obtain finance that best suits their circumstances and allows them to realise their property dreams to ensure that you get the most competitive rate within a product best suited to your needs and we do it fast and for free 1/114a Parkes StreetHelensburgh, 250802 4294 9800 All articles from our website & appThe digital version of Today's PaperBreaking news alerts direct to your inboxInteractive Crosswords Sudoku and TriviaAll articles from the other regional websites in your areaContinueBed 5 | Bath 4 | Car 2 A showcase of contemporary design and refined style this newly built home in Engadine features expansive interiors and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow ideal for growing families or entertainers Listing agent Julie York from Raine & Horne Helensburgh said what strikes you when you walk to the front door of this magnificent two-storey brick residence is the elegance and grand appeal "This property offers low-maintenance grounds and an incredibly beautiful street presence," Julie said including a guest bedroom with en suite that is conveniently located downstairs as well as several living rooms throughout." the flexible floorplan offers generous proportions a relaxed sense of luxury and timeless family charm It features open-plan living for effortless entertaining and family gatherings as well as a massive state-of-the-art kitchen with premium appliances and sleek stone benchtops Relax and rejuvenate in the stunning main bathroom with a deep bathtub EngadineEnhancing the home's grandeur and luxury are 2.7 metre high ceilings both upstairs and downstairs premium Hydrotuff hybrid flooring downstairs and ducted reverse cycle air-conditioning The masterpiece continues outside with an undercover entertaining area landscaped gardens and sparkling plunge pool to cool off on those hot summer days Completing the home is a double garage with a storage area and internal access "Ideally this stunning home would suit a large family whether it be with teenage children or little ones," Julie said "This is a family-friendly area with local schools and sporting fields close by It is also a short walk to shops and transport so no car is necessary." NSW Police have provided new details after several people were stabbed in Sydney’s south on Sunday morning following a major car crash. WARNING: Distressing content.  New details have emerged after multiple people were stabbed following a car crash in Sydney’s south on Sunday. Emergency crews rushed to the intersection of Princes Highway and Old Bush Road at about 9am after receiving several triple zero calls were made about a two vehicle crash. A 58-year-old man, who appeared to be suffering from stab wounds, was found by officers allegedly running from the scene. He was later pursued on foot, tasered and taken into custody. He remains in Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition. A woman in her 40s, understood to be the man’s passenger, was found suffering from multiple wounds. Superintendent Donald Faulds confirmed the two were in a domestic relationship. “They were in a domestic relationship, there is no history that we are aware of, there is no apprehended violence orders between the two but definitely domestic related,” he told a press conference on Sunday afternoon. “We believe the female was being assaulted in the car while the male was driving the vehicle at the same time. “A number of witnesses mentioned the car was driving quite erratically at the time and we believe that’s when the assault was occurring in the car and as result they then collided with another vehicle.” The female passenger was transported to hospital and is in a critical condition. Four other people, including a police officer, were also injured as well as the two occupants of the crashed car. Mr Faulds revealed members of the public had rushed over to the accident to help and were confronted by the 58-year-old man, who was known to police for “a number of matters,” allegedly wielding a box-cutter. It is understood he inflicted a number of injuries to himself at some stage before police arrived about six minutes after the crash. “A number of members of the community stopped to assist occupants from both those vehicles,” Mr Faulds said. “As community members were assisting one of the females out of one vehicle, a male got out of that vehicle. He was armed with what we believe to be a box cutter.” One female was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen and remains in a serious but stable condition, while the police officer received a “large laceration to his arm,” NSW Ambulance’s Paul Tonge revealed. The actions of emergency services and the bravery of the bystanders who rushed to help was lauded by Mr Faulds, who described the incident as “quite frightening”. “There’s no tolerance for any type of violence in the community,” he said. Police were also questioned about allegations the 58-year-old man had an aggressive verbal outburst at same stage during the incident, to which Mr Fault said the investigation remains ongoing. He also appealed to the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the incident, including mobile phone and dash cam footage, and contact police or Crime Stoppers.  Watch 6sA police officer pursues a suspect after a car crash and stabbing in southern Sydney. There was another gentleman that came to help that poor gentleman tried to grab her legs he copped a gash from sort of up here (shoulder) to his belly button Mace said when they managed to rescue the woman from the car the alleged perpetrator left the vehicle and tried to come back around to get to the female passenger The Sharks chairman said he grabbed a “little torch” and had a standoff with the knife wielding man which "felt like an hour” before police finally arrived “All he was then worried about was preaching to us all he then turned around to go for my little fella which that fired me up and I bolted around the other side of the car,” Mace said he somehow ran up the hill and then I found out that poor police officer was stabbed as well Mace said the alleged stabber’s aggressive outburst was in part due to the female passenger having changed the radio station He then began chanting words to the effect of: “We’re all dead anyway” while yelling about a “big conspiracy about the jab and we’re all getting followed” he seemed calm in the environment with myself and the other gentleman but anyone else who didn’t fit his category he was going for the jugular,” Mace said The
