File picture A Wagga man has been released on strict bail conditions after police allegedly found $15,000 cash in his possession under suspicious circumstances during a late night stop near Wagga

police apprehended Barby at Borambola during which they found the cash in his possession and allege in court documents there are "reasonable grounds" the money is the "proceeds of crime"
magistrate Gareth Christofi noted Barby was "pulled over by police around midnight ..
and was found to be in possession of $15,000 cash."
Mr Christofi noted he "could not explain to police in any convincing or meaningful way as to where that cash may have come from
to purchase building supplies in Sydney using that cash," he said
This was "notwithstanding the fact that Wagga has many businesses including Bunnings which sell building supplies"
The court heard there were "other suspicious circumstances ..
including a book with some certain entries said to be consistent with the sale of illicit drugs"
in regards to that amount of cash not being able to demonstrate to police where it came from he was charged" over the incident
The court heard police refused bail and asked for bail he was already on to be revoked
That bail related to a separate court matter involving charges relating to alleged firearms offences and recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime
police prosecutor sergeant Jasmine Carr said it's alleged Barby was driving "in the middle of the night to source certain substances"
Sergeant Carr said the prosecution was opposed to bail
solicitor Hassan Ameen said the breach of bail was "not admitted" to and said bail conditions including a curfew would help address concerns
Mr Ameen also entered a plea of not guilty to the charge on his client's behalf
Mr Christofi observed he had a "very limited criminal record" and ruled in the man's favour
"Notwithstanding what appears to me to be a breach of bail
in my view it's appropriate with strict conditions to grant conditional bail," he said
Barby was ordered to live at a fixed Glenfield Park address and adhere to a curfew at that location between the hours of 8pm and 6am
Mr Christofi also ordered Barby not to possess firearms or ammunition
The matter was adjourned to return before the Wagga Local Court on November 27

drugs and a trail bike from a home in Lloyd where a man was arrested
suppliedPolice have seized multiple machetes
drugs and vehicles - including a trail bike and several e-scooters - after an investigation into a suburban Wagga vehicle fire
Fire and Rescue NSW crews attended and extinguished the blaze, which destroyed the ute.
"Police immediately commenced an investigation into the incident, with initial inquiries indicating the fire was suspicious," a NSW Police spokesperson said.
Following inquiries, detectives raided a home on Hollows Crescent in the nearby suburb of Lloyd about 10.55am.
During the search, police located and seized multiple machetes, knuckle dusters, a taser, a trail bike, a Subaru sedan, jewellery, several e-scooters, and 100 grams of cannabis.
A 46-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Wagga police station where he was charged by virtue of an outstanding warrant.
The man was refused bail to appear before Wagga Local Court on Friday, March 28.
Police are continuing to investigate the ute fire and have urged anyone with information to contact Wagga police station or Crime Stoppers on 1300 333 000.

A pursuit began when the driver did not stop and continued into Glenfield Park, where it was terminated.
The ute was seen a short time later in Lloyd West, where it is alleged it was involved in a collision with a police vehicle.
Officers then pursued the vehicle through Tolland and Mount Austin, before the driver turned onto Langi Crescent in Glenfield Park and became stuck between bollards.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, was arrested after getting out of the vehicle.
He was taken to Wagga police station, where police said a drug test returned a positive reading for methamphetamine.
He was charged with leading officers on a pursuit, driving dangerously, stealing a vehicle, having goods suspected of being stolen, driving while unlicensed and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Monday, January 27.
Police will allege the vehicle was stolen from a Bourkelands address between 10pm on January 26 and 2am on January 27.

"People calling in as soon as possible, makes it a lot easier to get there and prevent fire from spreading in grassy and tree-filled areas," she said.
"It's always a concern, it's dangerous for them [children] because car fires have toxic fumes."

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and \urge any witnesses or people with information to contact the station or Crime Stoppers.
A NEW plan to bring fast food giant KFC to Glenfield Park's shopping precinct will help relieve queuing issues at the city's other restaurants
according to developers behind the proposal
Development manager, Jonathon Jeffress, of Collins Foods, which is the operator behind KFC, said the proposed location is strategically placed to provide "relief" to the existing KFC network.
This will become Wagga's fourth KFC store, if approved, however Mr Jeffress said it will be of a smaller design due to lower patronage anticipated.
"Whilst lower volume, strategically, the premises is suitable to the overall KFC network in that it will provide relief to the existing network within Wagga, notably Wagga Homebase with its inherent queuing issues," Mr Jeffress said.
Traffic can often be found blocking through traffic in both directions at the Homebase KFC while on Fitzmaurice Street customers spill out onto the street causing congestion.
"It has been estimated that 12 per cent of customers will be taken away from the Wagga North restaurant and 18 per cent away from the Wagga Homebase restaurant," Mr Jeffress said.
First look at $1.5m plan to bring KFC to SouthcityThe development application proposes a 24-hour, seven days a week KFC restaurant and drive-through at the corner of Pinaroo Drive and Tanda Place.
It comes as part of the Southcity precinct's master plan, which includes two supermarkets, a fast-food outlet and a service station.
Wagga council will have the documents out on public exhibition until January 7 to allow residents to voice their input about the proposed development.
Picture by Ash SmithEd Perryman picked up his first Collingullie-Glenfield Park best and fairest after a stellar season for the Demons
Sudoku and TriviaAll articles from the other regional websites in your areaContinuePerryman has been a model of consistency over the past couple of years at the Demons and had finished runner-up in the past two vote counts
But the Demons junior took his game to the next level this season and was pleased to have received the honour for the first time
"I've been runner-up the last two years so it's not too bad to get it and beat a few handy players."
Predominately playing across half forward last season
this year saw Perryman become a swing man of sorts as he spent time down back
through the middle and even went forward where he kicked 20 goals
Perryman enjoyed the challenge of playing in different positions and felt a switch to half back early in the season saw him find some good form
"I played everywhere throughout the year and I probably started playing my best footy when I went to a half back flank
"Then when my brother got injured I went through the midfield and played mid-forward again and started to find my best footy towards the end of the year."
The Demons bowed out of the finals after losing to Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong in the semi-finals and Perryman conceded the loss was still being felt by the group
"You still think about it a little bit," he said
"Our best footy was pretty competitive against anyone and in that third quarter we probably let ourselves down
"We probably could've been more in front at three quarter time and potentially maybe won
but it was a disappointing last quarter just to fall away
"We'll look to pick up a few players and improve for next year."

The young forward makes the move across to the Demons having shown plenty of promise in the last few seasons at Osborne
He revealed that the move to Collingullie was the result of a phone call from Lenon a few weeks after the Hume League had concluded
"Sparks just gave me a ring really seeing if I was interested about a couple of weeks after the season had finished," he said
"I was pretty keen once I got the phone call."
Collins said that having played previously at Lockhart
he already had a prior connection to Lenon
"I played all of my juniors at Lockhart actually," he said
"I made the switch to Osborne when I was 16 and he coached the seniors at Lockhart when I was about 13-14
"I was pretty close with him then and I was doing the water and all that for the seniors at Lockhart so I already knew what he was about."
Collins revealed that the travel factor also played a big part in his decision to commit to the Demons for next season
then I've got a lot of mates at Collingullie that I went to school with
Having made just a single first grade appearance in 2019 and 2021 with the Tigers
2022 is when Collins really took the Hume League by storm
Collins kicked 51 goals in 20 games as the Tigers went through the season undefeated before falling to Holbrook in that year's grand final
It was a breakout season from the talented young forward and Collins admitted he was pretty happy with his performance that year
"2022 was my full season in the ones and I was basically the main target down forward," he said
"I played pretty good and I think I kicked around 50 goals and I was pretty happy with that
but obviously we didn't win the grand final which is pretty disappointing after going in undefeated
"I was actually considering moving to Gullie after that year because Osborne had signed George Alexander and Hayden Armstrong for the 2023 season and they are both key forwards
but I actually got dropped for the grand final
I played in the first final and then Hayden Armstrong came back in and out I went."
After a couple of strong seasons at Osborne
Collins will get his first taste of Riverina League footy at the Demons in 2024
Picture by Madeline BegleyHaving kicked 63 goals from 32 senior games
Collins believed that he would more than likely be spending the majority of his time up forward for the Demons
"Sparks said if I get fit enough then maybe up the ground more
Having played the entirety of his senior football in the Hume League
Collins said he was looking forward to testing himself in the Riverina League
"That is another reason just testing myself in the RFL," he said
in the Hume League you can blow out the bottom teams but in the RFL comp
if you don't show up you are going to get beat."
Having enjoyed his time with the Tigers over the past couple of seasons
Collins conceded it was difficult to depart the club
"It was really hard leaving Osborne," he said
"It's such a great club and it was pretty hard to walk away without a senior premiership
"They've done a lot for me with Jason (Webster) and it's hard leaving Myles (Aalbers) because he was the new coach for 2024

Picture by Les SmithCollingullie-Glenfield Park claimed an eight-point win over Wagga Tigers after their contest was called off halfway through the final term at Crossroads Oval
Sudoku and TriviaAll articles from the other regional websites in your areaContinueWith a little over 10 minutes to play in the final quarter
Demons' midfielder Matt Klemke was injured in a tackle in Collingullie's forward line
play was halted and then eventually called off as paramedics arrived to take the midfielder to hospital
the Tigers roared to life in the third term kicking four goals to one to head into the last quarter with a 10-point lead
However it was all the Demons in the last as they kicked three quick goals to grab an eight-point lead before the contest was abandoned with Collingullie in front 8.5 (53) to 6.9 (45)
Although ending in unfortunate circumstances
Demons' coach Nick Perryman was pleased to end up on the winning side of the result
"I thought it was a bit of an interesting game and an interesting way to finish obviously," Perryman said
"But we will take the win and hopefully Matty can get the right treatment and will bounce back fine."
After heading into the halftime break up by 10 points
the Demons were outplayed in the third term and saw themselves trailing by that same margin with a quarter to play
Perryman was pleased his side could respond so strongly with three goals to hit the lead
"I challenged the boys at three quarter time," he said
"Then we changed a few little things up and there was a slight breeze to that end so we knew if we could get a couple of big clearances and got the footy in there that the boys could finish the work
it was a little bit disappointing we couldn't finish the quarter off but we'll take it."
Demons key forward Sam Stening had entered the match in some superb form however was restricted to just the single goal after being held well by Ben Kelly
Jayden Klemke and Steve Jolliffe stood up in his absence and combined to kick five of the Demons' eight goals
Perryman said it was pleasing to see Klemke and Jolliffe hit the scoreboard in a major way
"They've obviously got some really good defenders Wagga Tigers so we knew something like that could happen where one bloke might've been struggling a bit
"Sam played a bit of a sacrificial role and went up the ground a bit and Jayden got dangerous and Stevey as well."
View +19 PhotosPictures by Les SmithThe midfield trio of Kane Flack
Nick Perryman and Matt Klemke were outstanding however the efforts of the Demons' back six were just as pivotal for Collingullie
Ed Perryman and Harry Radley were among the best in defence for the Demons and Perryman thought the back six did well to constrict what can be a potent Tigers forward line
"Especially in the first half as they had the majority of the play in patches and they only kicked the two goals to halftime when they probably should've kicked a couple more for the dominance they had
It is the fifth straight win for the Demons which sees them exit round 14 in fifth position on the Riverina League ladder
It's been a stellar turn of form from his side and while proud of their run Perryman knows there is still plenty of football yet to come
"To be honest it's a bit foreign to us," he said
"If you asked me that a couple of weeks ago I would've said it's a long way away
"It's good to get there and we know that we've got a massive month to come with Turvey
"It's all ahead of us but the last month has been pretty good
"We know our best can beat anyone but we know our worst can have us get beat by anyone
"We've seen that this year and we are under no illusions of where we are at and we need to play at nearly 100 per cent to win any game in this competition
"We are just going to battle away and see what happens."
Klemke suffered what is believed to be a neck injury and Perryman was hopeful the tough midfielder would receive some positive news in the coming days
"It's in the neck from what I hear," he said
"He's got feeling in his feet and in his hands so you obviously fear for the worst when something happens with the neck
"He will get the right treatment and we will support him as much as we can and hope for the best."
Picture by Les SmithAfter a somewhat slow start to the season
reigning Stewart Fraser Medallist Sam Stening has roared into the lead after a dominant past month
Sudoku and TriviaAll articles from the other regional websites in your areaContinueThe Collingullie-Glenfield Park key forward kicked eight goals in the Demons' massive round one win over Narrandera however then only managed to kick seven majors in their next six games
The lull saw Stening exit round eight with only 15 goals to his name while then medal leader Brad Ashcroft (Turvey Park) was nearing 30
10 and six in the past month now see Stening back on top of the leaderboard with only five rounds to play
It's a dramatic turn of fortune and Stening even admitted he didn't see it eventuating
"I think it's probably come off the back of a few positional changes and I've been moved to play a bit deeper out of full forward
"Then with blokes like Jayden Klemke and Steve Jolliffe down there it makes it a lot easier when they are delivering the ball to you."
Stening has kicked nearly half of the Demons' goals in that four-game stretch and said that he feels like he is back to playing his best footy again
"But I haven't changed a whole heap and I don't really know what's happened to be honest
"I've gone about it the same way and things have sort of changed for me which is good and it's changed for the team as well because we've been winning a few games."
The Demons have won their last four which now sees them sitting just one win outside the top five
The Demons host Wagga Tigers this weekend and Stening kicked three goals in their clash earlier this year
Picture by Les SmithIt's a remarkable comeback from the Demons who just a few weeks ago had a record of 2-5 and were sitting in a lowly seventh position on the Riverina League ladder
Stening admitted it was a bit strange to find themselves in such a position nearing the halfway point of the season
"I don't think anyone expected to be there," he said
"We were probably a little bit complacent coming into the season but the last few weeks we've sort of clicked and got a few players back which always helps
"We just seem to be playing with more confidence."
The Demons' resurgence may have caught many by surprise however Stening stated he always had belief they would come good once a few things fell in their favour
"We just needed a few little things to click and a few players to get back," he said
probably not go this well but I knew we'd play a lot better than what we did in the first half of the year
Brothers Jayden and Matt Klemke returning in recent weeks has been a massive factor in the Demons' resurgence but Stening said rising confidence has also played a major part
"Just coming out of full forward leading to those guys kicking to me has helped me and it's helped a lot of other players in the team
"But it might not be just them as each week everyone has gained a bit more confidence and everyone has taken on the game a bit more
"We are playing a bit more like we did last year."
The Demons host Wagga Tigers this weekend at Crossroads Oval and Stening knows they are in for a tough challenge on Saturday
"They outplayed us earlier in the year at their home ground and they've got some really good players."

The Demons held a narrow four-point lead at half-time before the Bulldogs broke the game open with a six-goal third term
It helped Turvey Park establish a 22-point lead at the final change and the Demons were unable to make any inroads in the last quarter as the two teams went goal-for-goal

Luke Fellows set the tone with the opening goal of the third term
while Eduward Grigg continued his strong game with two third term goals
Grigg was named best-on-ground for his efforts
while Fellows and Henry Jenkins also had big games
Hallcroft credited Turvey Park's pressure for breaking the game open in the third term
"We had some class players out there in Luke Fellows
Kynan Smith was in my opinion best on ground
just the pressure and the never give up attitude
"We're a real team and there's a real bond

It proved to be a memorable 250-game milestone for Michael Ness

Mick Mazzocchi and blokes like that have been a huge help

The 26-year-old said the biggest factor in his decision-making process was the fact he feels he still has 'more to give' as Demons coach

I just didn't know what the best thing was for the group and myself," Perryman said
it just made sense to keep going on with this group and with someone helping you out
it can be beneficial as well with my recovery and rehab and stuff like that
"I've done two years coaching here and I've still got more to give
Perryman was unsure about the co-coaching arrangement until he received a phone call from Lenon
Perryman said it wasn't that Lenon talked him into the role but it made him realise how passionate he was about continuing with the club

File picture by Dylan EvansA Taco Bell restaurant slated for construction in Glenfield Park has been "put on hold" by developers
Sudoku and TriviaAll articles from the other regional websites in your areaContinueTaco Bell Australia chief marketing officer Andrew Howie said there was no timeline for when the site would open
and it is possible the development plans may be cancelled
The popular fast food chain submitted a development application with Wagga City Council for an outlet at the Southcity Shopping Centre in Glenfield Park in May last year
Mr Howie said it was important the company grows sustainably around Australia
and given the current economic environment
the company was not confident this restaurant would be able to maintain the desired level of consistency
and we want to make sure when we open our stores
we're able to give a great customer experience everywhere," he said
"The price of tomatoes has doubled in the last year ..
"This is one of the challenges we face at the moment setting up stores that aren't in proximity to other stores - you can't just jump in the car
race to another store and borrow some stock and pay it back."
Taco Bell are not alone, with local consumers also hit by the high price of vegetables. The cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 8.1 per cent in the twelve months to March, with price rises seen across all food categories.
Business Manager at the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber Sally Manning said a lot of local businesses were enduring these kinds of problems.
"Finding the resources and construction companies to help with the actual development if you're starting from scratch is a bit of a challenge," she said.
"With food, we see it ourselves in the supermarket. When something's really really, low, the price will increase a lot, and in some cases the supermarket may not stock that product at all.
"If you stop and think about the impact of that on a food based business that's buying in bulk, it has a really big impact on their offerings."
While Ms Manning said many local hospitality businesses had begun to substitute expensive or hard to get ingredients, a chain like Taco Bell that relies on consistency across its franchises doesn't have this option.
Mr Howie said given the challenges facing business at the moment, he was unable to give an estimate of when the store would open. He said it was possible it would never happen.
The restaurant would be constructed on the corner of Pinaroo Drive and Dalman Parkway in Glenfield Park. Picture supplied by Wagga City Council"Take it as a possibility - It's not the intent, but I also don't want to say yes, it's definitely going ahead," he said.
"The last thing we ever want to do is open a store without being certain we're going to be able to keep it open.
"You don't want to hire people, then have to let them go - that's horrible."

Picture: Les SmithGanmain-Grong Grong-Matong coach Sam Martyn believes Collingullie-Glenfield Park have proven themselves as a genuine premiership contender this season
It signalled the coming of age for the new-look Collingullie-GP team
proving they are up to matching it with the best in the competition despite both teams having key personnel missing
Martyn had nothing but praise for the Demons are trading blows over a fascinating four-quarter battle
"First and foremost we give a lot of credit to Collingullie," Martyn said after the win
"They are one of the premier teams in this competition now and I've got a lot of respect for the way they went about their footy today
"They've evolved from last year from that tough contested side to a team who is obviously good in the clinches but who can hurt you on the outside too
Their tall timber were very accurate as well
"Full credit probably goes to Collingullie
We've really got to bring our best football in order to be a challenger and they're probably as hungry as ever now to respond and will look forward to the challenge when we go there but vice versa
we do too and we'll see how our brand of footy goes out there."
The Lions booted five consecutive goals in time on in the last quarter to clinch a memorable victory and maintain their unbeaten start and spot spot on the ladder
Martyn said it now provides the Lions with a benchmark for the remainder of the season
"When you're down in a game or have moments where you face adversity
you can draw on this sort of game and draw some inspiration from it," he said
Kai Watts and George Alexander both kicked two each during that dramatic period late in the game
"George I thought was a really special effort," he said
"He had to continually work with two or three opponents hanging off him all day
They did a really good job of defending him but to keep fighting through that and popping up and presenting and to finish with six is a pretty special effort
he's such a hard match up for anyone and when you mention X-factor
He had some really special moments and capitalised when it was his time to stand up."
Martyn expects both Jacob Olsson and Mitch Taylor to return for Saturday's home game against Leeton-Whitton
Dan Foley will miss however after injuring his hamstring late in the contest

who was announced as the Demons first major signing last week said there were a few main reasons why he decided to join Collingullie with his great uncle's history at the club being chief among them
"First and foremost the RFL is a very good comp
so I wanted to be a part of that," Flack said
"My great uncle Ken Morrow has got a fair bit of history at Collingullie and is a Collingullie man through and through
"So he played a part in the reason why I chose Gullie and then I've got a few really good mates out there as well
"There were a few reasons as to why I chose to go out there
After a stint in the Ovens & Murray League and a number of years playing for North Wagga in the Farrer League
Flack was looking forward to having a crack at Riverina League football next season
it is going to be a very good and even comp," he said
"The top teams from this year are going to be just as strong if not better and there's other teams that didn't go as well but have recruited well
"So I think it is going to be a very good comp and I'm looking forward to it."
Flack played through the middle of the ground for the Saints and while he expects to have a similar role with the Demons admitted that he is up for any challenge that is thrown his way
"Hopefully through the midfield and then I'm more than happy to drift down back a bit as well and play off the half-back flank
I'll play wherever Pez (Nick Perryman) puts me
"I feel like I'm pretty versatile and I can play anywhere
Flack's arrival at Crossroads Oval will also see him link up with some of the Demons young stars who he has been looking forward to playing with for a fair while
"I'm good mates with Popey (James Pope) and Harry Radley and a few of the boys," he said
"It will be good to have a year with them boys and hopefully we can do something good."
Flack has previously played alongside Pope during GWS Giants Academy representative duties and has also played a lot of football with Ed Perryman
"I've played a bit with Popey and I've also played a fair bit of footy with Ed Perryman as well," he said
"It will be good to get back with Pezza (Perryman) as it's obviously been a few years since that."
After playing the majority of his footy at McPherson Oval
Flack said it was a difficult decision to leave the Saints
"They are my home club and I've played all of my footy there
but they are very understanding and they are very happy for me to go and try and better myself."

The first stage of Pinaroo Village consists of 35 units, 31 of which will be for seniors aged 55 and over who are financially disadvantaged
The other four units are designed to meet the standards of specialist disability accommodation under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The first stage, with a value of $12 million, is looking to be completed by May of next year in when the first residents will be able to move in.
Opening Doors Foundation CEO Shane McMullen said they are already seeing a demand for units.
"We have 31 units in stage one for seniors and four disability units and 51 people are currently interested in the senior units already so there certainly is the demand there for it," he said.
That demand might have something to do with the housing crisis currently plaguing the state, with pensioners and those with disabilities even more susceptible to hardship.
"There is a rental crisis out there and it is hard, we know of some people who are on our list and wanting to move in here and they're paying upwards of $350 a week and for someone on a pension that doesn't leave a lot," Mr McMullen said.
"We're doing this out of our own funds, it would be nice if the federal and state governments put funds into affordable housing."
Each unit will have its own solar system, which will help reduce electricity costs.
The complex will also have a community centre, barbecue area and office, and will be decked out with security cameras.
"Some of these elderly people are out on their own and they're in areas where they're isolated and at a complex like this, there's going to be other seniors - so we're creating a sense of community for them and there's more security because there will be security cameras put up around the site," Mr McMullen said.
Opening Doors Foundation director Ron Crouch said the Pinaroo Drive site was perfect for the village given its prime location next to the South City shopping centre and a bus stop just down the road.
"We didn't want a site that had houses we had to knock down, this was an adequate site and its ideal, the facilities are so good here, it's right next to a shopping centre and pharmacy so those who live here won't have to have a car," he said.
The project has also taken on local contractors, including ICG Construction Group and local architect Noel Thomson.
ICG Builder Michael Martin said they began working at the site at the end of March.
Wagga architect Noel Thomson with Opening Doors Foundation CEO Shane McMullen and director Ron Crouch, and ICG Construction Group's Michael Martin., Picture by Madeline Begley"It's good for Wagga to have local builders building their local projects," he said.
"We also want to drive that local workforce so we engage local trades as well, this project is 100 per cent locally built, the frames, windows, everything is built locally so the money is staying in the region.
"I'm actually really proud of this project for a number of fronts, it's not-for-profit housing for seniors and being built by a local company."
When it comes to the planning of the village, a lot of thought and time went into ensuring every box was ticked.
Assigned with the complex job, Mr Thomson began working on the design in 2019.
"It's a long process, It has taken from 2019 to 2023 to get the designs finalised, master planning development approval, construction approval, tender, builder signed up," Mr Thomson said.

“I spoke to a few O&M and Riverina clubs but I was never going to play against Collingullie

His decision to return to his home club wouldn't come as a surprise to Raiders' officials with Jolliffe making the trek from the family farm near Collingullie to play at Birallee Park this season
He also trained with the Demons once a week
Jolliffe said it was always a matter of when and not if he would return to the Demons where he is a dual premiership player

He said it was only natural that their form tapered off somewhat after such a dominant start to the year and is confident they will rise to the occasion now that they are faced with sudden death football this week
“There’s a few factors that I’ve identified and been trying to rectify but in saying that
it’s a hard one, because it’s such a long season that’s the trouble you run into when you start so well,” he said

Hamblin is ready to run out for the Lions in Saturday's grand final against Collingullie-Glenfield Park
I had seven weeks off with it which wasn't ideal
Hamblin has only continued to get better over the past couple of years
with him a major contributor to the Lions making the finals in 2018-20
after failing to make the grand final in each of those appearances
Hamblin said it was good for the Lions to have the chance of winning the premiership
"I've been playing in first grade for the last four years now and we've made finals every year," he said
"We just could never get to the grand final
The one that possibly got away from the Lions was last year
after Ganmain finished on top of the Riverina League ladder before the finals were cancelled due to Covid
"A lot of boys felt we were hard done by because the season ended," Hamblin said
"It would be good to finish it off this year with a win."
With a two-week build up to the grand final
Hamblin said there was a mix of excitement and nerves ahead of the big game on Saturday
"Training was unreal last night and everyone was up and about and really keen for it," he said
"There are a few boys with a lot of excitement and there are a few boys who are a bit nervous

"It feels like a while coming seeing we have been in finals the last four years and it's been 11 years since we have last won one
so they have all got one up on me at the moment."
It took Hamblin a few weeks to regain his early season form after returning against the Bulldogs
but has been getting better week by week and was fantastic against Coolamon in the qualifying final
"I was slow to get into it the first couple of games," he said
"But I'm finding my way again now which is very pleasing."
Hamblin has also been building his midfield minutes each week and is an important member of the Lions midfield group that includes Tom Anderson
"I love working with Tommy he's a weapon," he said
"He's really good to have on the footy field
The Lions were relentless in their pressure against the Demons when the two sides last played in the semi-finals with Hamblin believing it would again be a key to a Lions victory

"Our pressure on the ball carrier didn't allow them to make the right decisions."
Hamblin said that coach Sam Martyn has been fantastic this week in making sure that his side is ready for the big occasion
"He's been getting around everyone for sure," he said
"But not trying to get everyone completely up until the weekend as you don't want to lose all of your excitement
