Official Website of the Hampton Rovers Amateur Football Club | Established 1929 Site by is a powerful collection of letters between women What role does storytelling play in bridging differences and fostering understanding between diverse communities true storytelling — serves as a profound tool for bridging differences and fostering understanding between diverse communities we not only discover our commonalities but also learn to honor and celebrate our differences Much of what we think we know about others is shaped by our “programmed selves,” influenced by societal norms and biases It is only when we are confronted with the truth that we are challenged to dismantle the myths and false perceptions that have been hardwired into our minds but through the authentic experiences shared in stories Storytelling allows us to gain first-hand knowledge directly from the source shedding light on the darkness of ignorance and fear we are empowered to rewire our brains with information conducive to healing and reconciliation I must admit that I didn’t know what I didn’t know What did you learn about vulnerability while writing this book Dear Black Woman was an enlightening journey that deepened my understanding of vulnerability I am forever changed by the courage of the fifty-six courageous women who entrusted me with their stories often kept in the safe recesses of their hearts exemplify what is possible when we remove the element of fear and choose vulnerability These letters reaffirmed that vulnerability is not merely about exposing our wounds and fears but also about embracing the courage to share our truths I realized that vulnerability is a bridge that connects us on a deeply human level It allows us to see each other beyond the surface This project has illuminated the profound need to persist in the journey of inner work As the chief operations officer for The Martin Luther King Center for Nonviolent Social Change and lifelong advocate for social change how has your experience as a leader shaped your work transcends the mere act of guiding others; it is fundamentally about fostering an environment where inner change is prioritized Over fifteen years of working with diverse nonprofit leaders in training and board development one undeniable truth has emerged: leadership is the linchpin of organizational and cultural success or failure I often call CEOs “Chief Energy Officers,” because their energy — whether vibrant and inspiring or lackluster and disengaged — permeates the entire organization This energy is crucial in shaping organizational culture It is because of this experience that I remain committed to prioritizing the “leader within.” At the King Center my work is centered on cultivating love consciousness through nonviolence which aligns with my life’s mission of creating love-centered cultures and environments we create spaces where everyone is not only included but has a sense of belonging and care and equitable world where every child feels a profound sense of belonging What do we need to understand about cultivating belonging for everyone This question brings to mind a quote by Dr “All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.” This profound quote by Dr encapsulates the very essence of cultivating belonging for everyone I believe in order for us to truly understand and cultivate belonging we must first recognize that it is a fundamental human need and then acknowledge our own intrinsic need to belong I have found myself included in spaces where my presence felt tolerated as opposed to embraced This underscores the difference between mere inclusion and true belonging we must choose to be other-centered and other-conscious This means creating environments where individuals feel safe to share their stories and where their voices are not only heard but respected and valued What is your greatest hope for the future of healing and connection “Ubuntu,” rooted in humanist African philosophy which means “I am because we are.” This profound concept of interconnectedness reflects my greatest hope for the future of healing and connection My hope is that we embark on a profound journey of inner work delving deep into our souls to uncover the intricate threads of interconnectedness and interrelatedness that bind us all we will come to understand the beauty of our shared human tapestry and recognize that our individual well-being is inextricably linked to the well-being of others Only by embracing our connection to the whole can we begin to bridge our divides creating a world where every person is of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council to the granting of planning permit application PA23/0694 for Veolia Recycling & Recovery Pty Ltd (Veolia) by the City of Casey The planning permit application is to construct a waste transfer station at 290 Hallam Road Planning permission was granted before Councilors had been elected and sworn in before the rezoning has been approved by the Minister for Planning and while there is current litigation by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) against Veolia for serious breaches The proposed facility is within 250 metres of family homes and in the middle of densely populated areas Residents of surrounding suburbs have not been properly informed and those who have are extremely concerned about the serious adverse environmental and social impacts that will result from processing 550,000 tones of putrescible and inert waste per annum Over 1,000 objections were received but largely ignored by Casey Council and Administrators the EPA introduced new buffer and separation distance guidelines to protect the health and safety of residents which the City of Casey override with permit conditions. The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to ensure that a waste transfer station is not constructed in the South-Eastern Metropolitan region (2:19) For the hosts, this was about putting down a marker ahead of the summer, where they head to Switzerland as defending European champions, and they opened the scoring after 33 minutes through Park. Spain continued to cause England's defence all sorts of problems but a combination of wayward finishing and decent shot-stopping from Hannah Hampton kept them at bay The match was temporarily halted in the 51st minute as the floodlights failed at Wembley, but it was a brief hiatus, with play resuming just two minutes later. The pause did little to quell the entertainment, with both teams playing attacking football and Salma Paralluelo finding herself in decent positions in and around the box but with no end product Spain kept hammering away in the final stages but England's defence stood resolute as the visitors had all manner of decent chances but failed to find the equaliser in front of 46,550 fans England's form since the 2023 World Cup final has been patchy at best and though the Spanish camp admitted during the week that they too have been struggling to find consistency you felt the reigning world champions were a level above England heading into Wednesday's match making the most of having far less possession and fewer shots on goal A lot of that was down to their defensive endeavour and pressing England did their best to move Spain into uncomfortable areas of the pitch and though you're unlikely to see Paralluelo have this kind of off day in front of goal again you can't question England's defensive effort Bright and Leah Williamson stood up to everything thrown at them and more often than not were blocking anything which came their way England's midfield also pressed their Spanish counterparts extremely well Wiegman will look at the number of times Spain managed to get around the full-backs as an area of concern but she'll also point to their clean sheet But it was about England's defence on Wednesday and them nullifying Spain's world-class attack Hannah Hampton was in fine form as England triumphed 1-0 over a toothless Spain in the Nations League. Zac Goodwin/PA Images via Getty ImagesJames' defending shows major improvementJames has always been a shining star for England and Chelsea though fans of both would criticise her lackadaisical approach to defending While she is one of the strongest midfielders and attackers with a natural magic in front of goal she has often left England vulnerable at back losing the ball in key areas and failing to track to win it back After she showcased those vulnerabilities against Portugal it was a far different story against Spain Perhaps the occasion of playing the world champions at Wembley sparked a change in her or the persistent work both Wiegman and club coach Sonia Bompastor has done with James is paying off the Lionesses reaped the benefits of James' improved defending coupled with her at the centre of England's attack The hosts found their most joy in attack playing down the left flank with James using her linkup with club teammate Niamh Charles to get the better of Spain's defence It was also key in preventing Spain from utilising that wing to overturn England's lead If Wiegman has cracked the code to take James' defensive abilities to the next level then England may have a far better chance at defending their Euros crown in five months Ali Krieger and Sebastian Salazar debate the biggest storylines and break down the best highlights from women's soccer in the Americas. During the 2022 Euros, it was the super-subs of Russo and Ella Toone who ensured that England could win their first major title the pair are now regular starters for the side but no one has effectively stepped into their shoes to ensure the Lionesses have reliable options on the bench England's substitutes have only combined to offer two goals and one assist -- and only once has that been for a match-changing result While Wiegman pretty much has her first choice XI nailed on often coming too late in a game is still an area that needs addressing ahead of the summer A new era at Hampton Station is soon to arrive in Greenville as a reimagined outdoor space and at least three new food and beverage tenants are expected at 1320 Hampton Avenue Ext Over the past year, the exit of Birds Fly South Ale, Bourbon Street Burgers, and White Duck Taco Shop has depleted the normal foot traffic and interest in the retail area near the Water Tower District After acquiring the property for $11 million in November 2024, North Carolina-based Abacus Capital will now take its first shot at a "creative commercial property" in Greenville in a similar style to two Charlotte-area developments within its portfolio "I personally came here eight or nine years ago back when it was thriving," said Mason Ellerbe partner at Abacus Capital and graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg and we felt confident in our ability to rejuvenate a project like this because of our experience working with older buildings that had been made anew within the Charlotte market," he said Ellerbe pointed toward both The Avenues at Atherton in the South End of Charlotte and Switch Yard in The Freight District as models of how the reimagined Hampton Station could function and feel but to restore Hampton Station to its former glory," Ellerbee said mark the beginning of Abacus' redesign of Hampton Station Nearby Developments: Greenville concert venue announces $300 million renovation, expansion, amphitheater plans design expected at Hampton Station?A walk-through Hampton Station is sure to feel different after Abacus Capital invested around $1 million into structural upgrades and landscaping efforts to the 80,000-square-foot space near the Swamp Rabbit Trail's Orange Line Two building structures that sat near the property's northwest side were demolished in anticipation of new parking spaces needed for future increased foot traffic at Hampton Station have been made to usher in a new era of "creative commercial property," as coined by Wes McAdams "Our vision for Hampton Station is rooted in thoughtful enhancements that build on what makes the destination special," McAdams said "We're in the process now of demonstrating our commitment to refreshen the asset here and announce new food and beverage tenants," he said While new food tenants have yet to officially confirm a brewery-restaurant-style establishment is expected to take over both spaces that were previously occupied by Birds Fly South Ale and White Duck Taco Shop Ellerbe confirmed that there are three strategic spaces available for new tenants including one plug-and-play restaurant setting that Bourbon Street Burgers once occupied He added that all existing tenants who occupy Hampton Station will be offered the chance to renew their leases after they expire More Happening: 10 Broadway shows coming to Peace Center in Greenville for 25-26 season, what to know to go Both McAdams and Ellerbe have identified that making improvements to what is known as "The Yard" area is the first step in changing the scenery and filling the current void at Hampton Station Ellerbe deems the "secret sauce" within changing interest in the development to be upgrading the outdoor event space to make it more family and pet friendly alongside bringing in quality food and beverage tenants that will draw people to stay and dine "We've got a lot of exciting plans in store," McAdams said and added trees for shade and quality food are what the Charlotte-based real estate developers are banking on There is also mention of adding a racket-based sports area to the property in the future the upcoming redevelopment of Hampton Station will build on its history by redeveloping the site and making the space inclusive "This is a central place for the community to gather and our tenants to enjoy," McAdams said "Improving the outdoor courtyard is an important first step in our plan to restore the property's energy and elevate the Hampton Station experience," he said – A.J.
