Queensland local Chase Oberle and Victoria's Molly McLean became first-time champions at the 2025 Keperra Bowl today
both running out winners by multiple shots after the final round
McLean was able to stare down her co-54-hole leader and eventual runner-up Shyla Singh (Qld)
last week’s WA Amateur runner-up triumphing by three shots with a 9-under-par total
but McLean was able to hold her nerve as the battle with Singh intensified down the stretch
"I was a bit nervous when the rain came through
what's going to happen?'," McLean said
A regular fixture inside the top-10 on leaderboards of major events around the country
this is McLean's biggest win since taking out The Dunes Medal in 2023
who plays his golf out of The Brisbane Golf Club and is a recent addition to the Golf Australia High Performance Squad
however his clinical performance and 21-under total this week is likely his most complete performance
Oberle triumphed by four shots over Avondale's Callum Sharp
who was one of five men to post four rounds in the 60s across the week
"I definitely felt the nerves yesterday but then today just tried to play my own game
made sure I was shorter than them to get the first shot in
Fresh off wrapping up the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit last week
former Keperra Bowl winner Elvis Smylie was in attendance on the final day
"That was a bit of a shock when I saw him turn up," said Oberle

Oberle’s triumph comes as no surprise given his impressive 2024 campaign
This year, Oberle has participated in five ranked events, with his T-11 finish at the Australian Masters of the Amateurs in January being his previous best result. Victoria’s Jazy Roberts and NSW’s Jye Halls have joined a distinguished list of Keperra Bowl champions
Roberts (71-67-69-73) held a significant lead in the women’s event for most of the final round at Keperra Country Golf Club
three shots ahead of a fast-finishing Ella Scaysbrook (NSW) who closed with two rounds of 68
Halls (66-68-70-72) was in the middle of a huge battle
eventually needing to win a three-man playoff to clinch the men’s title
Roberts’ margin of victory would have been even greater had the Golf Australia High Performance Squad member
who took over the lead in the second round
not double-bogeyed the 72nd hole after she had cemented top spot with two back-nine birdies on the final day
After the practice round I was a little concerned about how I might go,” Roberts
“There’s a few tricky holes out here but I managed to get through most of them okay and had a few birdies on the easier holes
“I like to try to get to as many events as I can and play against the best girls in Australia
This week has ended well and hopefully there’s more good stuff to come.”
Roberts is the first non-Queenslander to win the women's Keperra Bowl
a title Justice Bosio has secured on three occasions
The men’s event was a final-round dogfight that saw a logjam of six players within one shot of the lead with just a couple of holes remaining
Ethan Anderson (Qld) was the first to post -12 in the clubhouse after a closing 67 and was joined by Wes Hinton (Qld) when he birdied the par-4 18th for a final day 71
Halls then made it a trio in the playoff when he parred the last to finish off a round of 72
Halls took the title with a birdie on the first playoff hole
“I played really solid all week,” the NSW Golf Club member said
“I definitely got a bit nervous on the back nine but it was good to get the win in the playoff.”
Halls has developed a liking for Queensland golf
The victory at Keperra follows on from the NSW State Team member’s win at the Queensland Strokeplay Championship at Pacific Harbour and Bribie Island last month
He joins a list of Keperra Bowl men's champions that includes the likes of Peter Senior

Frasers has unveiled the heart of its $500 million masterplanned community
The hub of the masterplan, a transformation the 48.7-hectare Keperra Quarry
is the recently completed $5 million resort-style facility ClubQ
The facility features a 25-metre lap pool with an infinity edge
two further resort-style walk-in pools with an integrated waterfall and a kid's splash and play area
and a private wellness centre featuring a fully equipped gym and meditation room
an art gallery and future communal dining space
and a sunset deck with sunken levels and built-in seating to capture panoramic views of the local D’Aguilar Range and beyond
Rothelowman Project Leader Megan Schulte said the space had been designed to amplify life at The Quarry
“The built form of ClubQ takes cues from the existing environment and colours
reusing materials mined on site to build a sense of place,” Schulte said
“Water and earth are celebrated throughout the ClubQ footprint as the lifeforce and heart of everything
54-tonne granite boulder that forms part of the building itself.”
“We have truly left no stone unturned to connect these vastly distinct spaces
from reusing site materials including monolithic stone in the spacious kitchen
to subtle touches like the geometry of the footpath and pool edges which resemble the microscopic edges of granite.”
The entertainment space overlooks a 3.7-metre LED screen and a collection of curated visual storytelling pieces presented as an art gallery that will become a communal dining space for future residents
A mature Kauri Pine Tree sits front and centre at ClubQ
encased by windows as it seamlessly blends the inside and outside realms
adding natural light for picturesque views and enhanced golden hour scenes all year round
General Manager of Queensland Development at Frasers Property Australia
said the ClubQ brought unique amenities and design aesthetic to a rugged environment
“As The Quarry transforms over the next decade, ClubQ will become a timeless space for future residents to come together and enjoy social events and recreation long into the future,” he said
“More than 40 per cent of the community is dedicated to existing bushland and newly curated green space and resident amenities
and an extension of the residents’ homes.”
The Quarry will feature a mix of 500 home and land sites, Rothelowman-designed terrace homes
The existing Keperra Quarry mines granite and will progressively curb operations as the development of the residential stages advances

With its club championships scheduled for the day ex-tropical Cyclone Alfred was due to hit mainland Australia
and with the prestigious Keperra Bowl just weeks away
the devastating weather couldn't have come at a worse time for Keperra Country Golf Club
As club General Manager Gavin Lawrence details
the club was not spared of significant damage
"The cyclone brought extreme rainfall and strong winds
leaving much of the course inaccessible due to flooding and fallen debris," he said
"We were forced to close from Thursday
with certain areas remaining unreachable until Wednesday
mud and river gravel covered multiple fairways
and significant tree damage required immediate attention."
The extent of the damage was unfortunately common for golf courses across South-East Queensland
but with such important events on the horizon
Keperra was keen to fast-track the recovery
a process only made possible by volunteering members
"Our volunteers played a crucial role
contributing over 100 hours of labour to assist with the cleanup," Lawrence said
"They worked alongside staff to clear debris
and help restore the course to a playable condition
"Their efforts ensured that the club’s course maintenance professionals could focus on the more specialised and complex restoration tasks."
With the volunteers helping Keperra's grounds staff
the club was able to go ahead with the Keperra Bowl as scheduled
and have since help its club championships as well
"One of the most inspiring aspects was how members stepped up without hesitation
Some even took time off work to help with the cleanup
showing their dedication to the club," said Lawrence
and hospitality workers created an incredible sense of community during a difficult period
"This experience has truly highlighted that volunteers are the heart of sports clubs
and strengthened our ability to bounce back quickly."
"Encouraging this spirit of contribution and shared responsibility builds a resilient
connected community that thrives well beyond the crisis."

strong community focus and elevated lifestyle offering was everything the couple was looking for and more
Their new homesite sits proudly on The Quarry’s ridgeline
featuring breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges and the natural beauty of Keperra
After working closely with The Quarry’s in-house architect Marco – a complimentary service offered to new residents – their dream home ideas were transformed into a reality
you’ve bought into a lifestyle… whether you‘re on the fence or committed
they get it and they’ll help you along the way.’

An engaging six-hole pitch-and-putt layout at Keperra Country Golf Club shows how strongly the Brisbane club has been revived after last year’s floods
When the additional offering opens on Friday
it will be a salute to the smart use of space
design and how to appeal to all levels of golfer
Keperra Country Golf Club General Manager Gavin Lawrence is an industry veteran and re-imagined something different for the club’s tired practice fairway
The big advantage immediately was the narrow
200-metre-long area being in a prime location as you drive through the gates of the popular club
Eyes now pop when members and visitors see mounded greens
raised tee blocks and a range of holes from 40m to 60m
the whole process took just six months after course designer David Burrup detailed the layout
It’s a more beneficial practice area or new-to-golf area that is far more interactive with the tees and targets,” Lawrence said
“It’s still our practice fairway that will serve members but with far better application for our junior program and beginners
“It completely changes impressions when you drive through the club’s gates.”
Head greenkeeper Keith Johnson and his crew did a fine job bringing the greens and sloped features to life and adding definition between the mini-fairways and light rough
“Our practice fairway was never the best in Brisbane because we are challenged by space in this area
flat floor plan with a few flags but we now have genuine greens and it’s far better for players of all standards,” Lawrence added
The prospect of small corporate groups enjoying a pitch-and-putt afternoon is another use at the home club of former PGA Tour regular John Senden
How the club has bounced back is heartening after the severe damage caused by the major Brisbane flood of February
2022 that inundated holes and tore through the green of the short par three eighth
The eighth green is in play but with Band-Aids before a rebuild gets underway
The bonus to the practice fairway is that one full-sized bunkered green has been created so a spare hole
can be utilised when the eighth is being rebuilt
Frasers Property Australia is officially transitioning up the iconic Keperra hillside with the second release of elevated homesites at The Quarry to meet buyer demand
as purchasers embrace the opportunity to live in one of the largest urban transformations in Brisbane’s history
Spanning 48.7 hectares just 9.5km from the CBD
the $500 million master planned precinct is transforming the Keperra Quarry into Brisbane’s most elevated community featuring a mix of about 500 home and land sites
extensive placemaking and shared resort style amenity
General Manager Queensland Development at Frasers Property Australia
said interest on Release Two remained strong and featured a selection of 20 level lots
“Release Two is the first collection of homesites that transition up the hillside of The Quarry and with that comes sweeping views of the D’Aguilar Range and beyond,” Mr Ullman said
“It’s also positioned close to the recently completed cliffside staircase lookout
which has become a popular exercise destination akin to the iconic Kangaroo Point Cliffs
“ClubQ is the heart of The Quarry community
luxury resort style amenities for residents to relax
Other ClubQ amenities include a 25m lap pool with an adjoining sun deck
sunset lounges and a generous green oval ideal for family occasions
Two additional resort-style walk-in pools with an integrated waterfall and kids splash and play area
and a private wellness centre featuring a fully equipped gymnasium and meditation room will form part of the precinct’s future amenity
Mr Ullman said future homeowners would be immersed in the landscape and history of The Quarry
while at the same time contributing to the rewilding of the hillside
“More than 40 per cent of the community is dedicated to existing bushland and newly curated green spaces
alongside more than 100,000 new plants and trees in a true mission towards regeneration,” he said
“Homes will front tree-lined streets and beautifully curated landscapes
It will be unrecognisable as a quarry in the fullness of time.”
Keperra is an established suburb with strong demand for new housing supply due to its proximity to leading schools
15 are ridgeline view and traditional homesites ranging from 293sqm to 542sqm
entry-level and low maintenance homesites ranging from 262sqm to 332sqm with prices starting from $585,000

After a difficult six months for businesses due to the pandemic and extraordinary weather events, Keperra Country Golf Club is pleased to announce it is now oversubscribed heading into the 2022/2023 Sponsorship year.
Mr Lawrence said it had been a challenging period for the Club, with unprecedented damage to the golf course and infrastructure after the February flooding and subsequent heavy rainfall, as well as many Queensland businesses also impacted by both weather and the rise in COVID-19 cases once state borders reopened.
‘Our goal when we launched our sponsorship program last year was to connect with businesses in our community and provide opportunities for mutual benefit and support,’ Mr Lawrence said.
Mr Lawrence said there had been many recent highlights despite the difficulties, including the Clubs successful Junior Holiday Clinic in July, supported by Simon Whitehead and Drew Crump from Harcourts Solutions Real Estate and activations with aged care and disability service provider, Just Better Care Brisbane North, which celebrated its relocation to Arana Hills.
‘We’ve had great feedback from our partners about initiatives and opportunities, such as exposure on the Club billboard at the intersection of Samford Road and the Ferny Grove train line,’ he said.
‘Three of our lucky Club members also benefited from the generosity of Principal Sponsor Tangalooma Island Resort, which donated three, two-night holiday stays with dolphin feeding and a wildlife experience for a membership draw.
We are looking forward to working with all our sponsors as we head into the next 12 months. Already there are exciting Club projects on the horizon, the biggest of which is a new short course and 28th hole, which will be constructed on what is currently the driving range. This project will improve the Clubs ability to introduce more juniors and newcomers to the game.’
Justice Bosio made history and Elvis Smylie wrote his own remarkable story as the Queensland pair won the prestigious Keperra Bowl titles today
became the winner of the first-ever female event at the storied Queensland amateur tournament in a triumph she rated "my biggest by far"
already the national junior champion and still just 18
not only went back-to-back in the men’s event but won by an astonishing 13 shots after a stunning 62 today
just 16 and in year 11 schooling on the Sunshine Coast
won the South Australian Junior Amateur and the South Australian Junior Masters earlier this year
She won the inaugural Keperra women’s event by a shot from Hye Jun Park and Minji Kweon
Bosio posted five-under-par after two closing 67s to go with opening rounds of 73 and 76
But Park and Kweon both bogeyed the 72nd hole and left her with the victory as she prepared for a playoff
Bosio has had a consistent year that includes not only her first senior title win in Adelaide
but a win at the Queensland Junior Masters
runner-up in the Queensland Stroke Play and fifth in the Queensland Amateur
she only just made the cut at five-over-par before a chat with her father unlocked the secret
and I have all these videos from all my lessons on Coach Now
"I just looked at those and I found that my position in the backswing was so open
That's why I was hitting it everywhere
I worked on fixing that and that's why it went straight!"
Bosio began the final round five shots back and focused on shot-by-shot
"Every birdie I got was a bonus," she said
It was a bit of a nail-bitter watching the last group come in but I managed to get the win!"
Smylie closed out the men’s with a stunning 62 that was even better than his opening round of 64 and left him at 25-under par after his rounds of 64-71-66-62
he obliterated the field with a 10-under round today that is his best ever; on the day
it was the best round in the men's field by six shots
Fellow-Queenslanders Chris Crabtree and national amateur champion Jed Morgan were runners-up at 12-under par
the son of former tennis champion Liz Smylie
also won the Queensland Stroke Play Championship this year and is establishing himself as one of the best young talents in the country
He made the cut at the 2019 Australian Open and finished just outside the top 30
"I just love coming back here every year," he said
"When we play Keperra Bowl it's always in really good nick
"I just wanted to get past 20 (under)," he said
"So at least have five-under for the day
but I knew Jed and Lawry were going to come strong at me
I tried to stick with my own game and it worked out really well
his playing partners were encouraging him to go even lower
It's great to have guys like that pushing me on

“Other ClubQ amenities include a 25m lap pool with an adjoining sun deck
two additional resort-style walk- in pools with an integrated waterfall and kids splash and play area
and a private wellness centre featuring a fully equipped gymnasium and meditation room."
Ullman said it's not a traditional subdivision
"More than 40 per cent of the community is dedicated to existing bushland and newly curated green space and resident amenities
The landscaping surrounding ClubQ will be woven throughout the site to deliver multiple green areas with outdoor barbecues and nature play spaces
alongside more than 100,000 plants and trees in a true mission towards regeneration
“Our passion for innovation and creating vibrant communities across Australia has been part of our history for almost 100 years,” he said
“With this history comes a track record of delivering transformational urban renewal, from the award- winning Hamilton Reach community on the Brisbane River, to Midtown in Macquarie Park in New South Wales
Land prices at The Quarry start from $580,000
One of our regions premier golfing destinations Keperra Country Golf Club (KCGC)
has recently extended their golf offerings with the unveiling of a new pristine Short Course on the 9th June
the Club that is known for its unique course layout first class conditioning all year round
has been receiving great feedback about the new addition
The Short Course comprises of 6 holes ranging from 30m to 65m
making it a great opportunity for emerging and junior golfers to experience golf without the pressures of being on the main course
Originally used as a warm up driving range for members
the team at KCGC were keen to make use of the land that would benefit the variety of golfers that now frequent the club
and accommodate the rise of junior golfers they have seen at their golf clinics since being awarded Queensland’s Best Junior Development Program at the Golf Industry Awards
When the opportunity arose through the State Government’s Game Day Grant Program to implement the innovative new development
the club grasped it with both hands and construction began in November 2022 only taking 5 weeks to complete prior to a 6 month ‘grow in’ stage
‘Designed by David Burrup in conjunction with the Club itself
the Short Course has a multitude of benefits
but is not just ascertained to the juniors amongst us as Membership,’ Partnership & Hospitality Manager for KCGC explains
‘The practice facility which will double as a short course will be a great asset for the Club
and especially for those learning the game via our many Clinics,’ said Mr Dash
‘The ability to provide an exclusive and safe designated golfing area means people of all skill levels can develop their confidence and when ready
take to our course proper and enjoy the game of golf with friends and family.’
one of the holes (28th) on the Short Course has been made larger than the rest
As some of the locals amongst us may remember
one of the holes on the course experienced major flood damage
It is anticipated that if an event like this does arise again
the course will now be able to incorporate the 28th hole from the Short Course into the Course proper so golfers can still experience a full 18 holes
Short Courses have become increasingly popular in recent times with the great range of benefits they offer to the golfing community and this course will be the third of its kind in Brisbane to come to the fore

Golf Australia High Performance Squad member Justice Bosio (Caboolture Golf Club) successfully defended her Keperra Bowl title today – the third time she has won the event
Bosio finished at 5-under after rounds of 69-68-72-74
four strokes ahead of runner-up Hannah Reeves (The Brisbane Golf Club) who had a hole-in-one on day two
The women's championship has only been running for four years and Bosio has won three of those
I came from behind … this year was a bit different going in with such a big lead into the final round," she said
Having just returned from playing overseas
Bosio said those experiences had helped her develop her game to the next level
"I've learned that I need to hit it a little bit further
so we've been working on that," she said
being able to string week after week after week together is really important."
another Golf Australia High Performance Squad member
Billy Dowling from Surfers Paradise Golf Club
fired back-to-back 67s to steal the championship by one stroke
Dowling fell behind the pack at the halfway point after a second round 78
but found another gear for the final two days
It continued another impressive year for Dowling who has also claimed the Queensland Amateur Championship
and the South Pacific Junior Open as significant victories
"I thought I was going to miss the cut," laughed Dowling
"I had a gameplan to try and birdie all the par-fives (in the final round)
I figured that would move me up the leaderboard."
Dowling is playing in Webex Players Series South Australia next week where his incredible form will be put to the test against professionals
Lincoln Morgan (Royal Queensland Golf Club) held the lead for a long time after a second round 64

The next phase of Keperra Quarry transformation has continued
The transition of Brisbane’s Keperra Quarry from an excavation site to a residential community has taken the next steps
The $500-million-dollar project is set for the second phase of its land release for residents
expected to be ready for home construction by mid-2024
“Release Two is the first collection of homesites that transition up the hillside of The Quarry and with that comes sweeping views of the D’Aguilar Range and beyond,” Scott Ullman, General Manager Queensland Development at Frasers Property Australia, said.
The project is turning the extractive site into a community featuring around 500 homes as well as community amentities upon completion
The 60-year-old gravel quarry will progressively curb operations as the development of the residential community gets closer to completion
Mr Ullman said future homeowners would be immersed in the landscape and history of the quarry

KEPERRA Country Golf Club’s junior golf program received a shot in the arm last month when teenagers filled the club championship’s top three podium spots
won the A grade championship after posting a four-round total of 285 to edge out fellow teenagers Jack Jones (287) and Ben Dowling (295) – both aged 17
isn’t the first junior to win a club championship at a metropolitan club and won’t be the last
but having three juniors fill the top three places is a credit to Keperra’s junior golf program led by teaching professionals Chris McCourt and Jake Newbery
but a growth spurt coupled with gym workouts have added length to his game and the teen can now pound it 250-260m on command
Coached by Keperra CGC’s head teaching professional Chris McCourt
Hinton has set his sights on playing more 72-hole tournaments around Australia
“My goal is to just keep improving and getting as good as I can in the next few years,” said Hinton
who has a best score of seven-under par at Keperra
And he was delighted to be joined on the podium by friends Jack Jones and Ben Dowling
“It was cool to see three juniors do well,” he said
Most days Hinton can be found on the practice range
but only plays “one or two comps a week” due to school commitments
He plans to take a gap year in 2024 to work on his golf game in the hope of one day turning professional
who won the Keperra 1987 club championship
has coached Hinton for the past four years and is impressed with his progress
McCourt says Winton even impressed two-time winner on the US PGA Tour John Senden
“When Sendo was home a few years ago we took Wes out for a game and Sendo challenged him to play different shots like fades
“I have coached Jack since he was 12 and he and Wes have a joint golf lesson every Friday afternoon,” he added.
Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane’s northern suburbs is marking International Women’s Day with the launch of a women’s pathway program membership option for women who complete the Club’s Get Into Golf clinics
Get Into Golf is a nation-wide initiative to attract more women to the game
developed by clubs and facilities in conjunction with Golf Australia
Clubs and facilities are delivering the introductory programs to beginner (or returning) golfers all across the country
with a strong emphasis on forming friendships and having fun as you learn
Keperra’s Get Into Golf clinics run for five weeks and the first for 2022 began this month
after a delayed start because of the weather
Three more clinics will be held throughout the year with coaches Chris McCourt (Keperra’s PGA Teaching Professional)
Jake Newbery (PGA Associate Professional) and Peter Zealley (Director of Golf)
Fellow clinic participant Lesleigh Reid is getting reacquainted with the game after a lengthy break: “I haven’t played for about 16 years
I had some lessons but then with the kids I didn’t have the time
Now I’m retired I do and it’s been really enjoyable.”
Keperra will offer all participants a choice of two-month memberships at the end of their clinics: a birdie membership with nine-hole course access on selected days ($249) or eagle membership with full-course access on selected days and mid-week competition participation ($349)
Both memberships include seven-day access to practice facilities and the clubhouse as well as member discounts on cart hire
beverages and apparel and a $50 clubhouse account
Keperra Club General Manager Gavin Lawrence said the Club was looking forward to welcoming more female members
“It is a big commitment to join a golf club for a year if you’re only starting out or if it’s been a long time since you played or had some lessons,” he said
“Our focus with the women’s pathway program is to help women make that transition
Through these new memberships we want them to enjoy our course and friendly Club environment
We also want to encourage and support them to continue their golfing journeys after their clinics whether they’re interested in only playing socially or taking part in competition.”

A change seeking minor amendments to the development granted by the Brisbane City Council Planning Committee in October 2017 and more recently 21 August 2020 has been lodged
The changes seek to revise the Neighbourhood Centre and Mixed Use Residential Community development
The proposed changes seek to revised masterplan and vision for the site that have resulted in a refinement of the site structure planning
The amended structure plan requires amending as a result of detailed design
staged approach of the development and that the development will contained community title internal roads and assets
The proposal still seeks the overall redevelopment of the subject site
ceased quarrying activities and the establishment of a number of residential precincts
pedestrian/cycle networks and open space networks
The planners at RPS Australia East state that “ the proposed changes relate to reducing the built form which was previously approved under the Preliminary Approval
While the reductions will not dramatically change the built form in terms of scale
bulk and appearance – it will ensure that a development more commensurate to the Keperra suburban feel is provided on the site”
“Given the reduction in building height and yield on the site
the severity of the known impacts are being reduced as a result of this proposed change
This includes reduced traffic to the site as a result of the density reduction and a reduction in visual impact external to the site given the reduction from 5 to 3 storeys maximum building height in Precinct 2”
to be updated on other projects or developments

EXCITEMENT is building for the 18th edition of the prestigious Keperra Bowl to be played at the picturesque Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane from October 11-14.
The 72-hole Keperra Bowl is a Golf Australia Order of Merit and R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking Event.
The event always attracts the cream of the amateur crop (male and female) and this year will be no different and that’s good news for golf fans keen on watching the elite players in the amateur game demonstrate theirskills.
Many of this year’s players will be using the Keperra Bowl as a platform with the aim of being selected in the national team.
“Cameron Smith and Jason Day, tested themselves against the best.”
Past winners include Marc Leishman, Andrew Dodt, Daniel Nisbet, Anthony Quayle, Matt Griffin, Elvis Smylie et al.
Many years ago Australia’s leading amateurs, Cameron Smith and Jason Day, tested themselves against the best and neither managed to lift the Bowl such was the depth of field.
At the Keperra Bowl, you will see a long list of players on plus handicaps, but those male golfers not off 4.4 or less won’t get a start. For the women, the handicap limit is 8.4.
Golf fans marvel when they witness Cam Smith and Adam Scott hit 300m drives, chip-in from off the green and roll in eagles and birdies at will.
The male amateurs that play in the Keperra Bowl do it as frequently as the professionals. For example, it’s not unusual to see the Bowl winner finish on 20-plus under par.
And don’t forget the women’s Keperra Bowl too is up for grabs. It’s contested by the best players from all states.
Last year Cassie Porter, off +5, came home with a wet sail to win the Bowl ahead of 2020 champion Justice Bosio. Both players finished well under par.
One of the reasons these top amateurs shoot low scores is the condition of the golf course, which is almost always in pristine condition when the Bowl is played. Well-manicured tees, fairways and greens are framed by shaggy, carpet thick rough. The ball sits up perfectly in the fairways, but it can easily settle down if hit into the rough.
So, if you want to watch some of the world’s best amateurs in action head for Duggan Street, Keperra later this month. Entry is free. Some of the names might be unfamiliar, but these players are definitely worth watching.
Located on the southwest corner of Stamford Road and Settlement Road. The Keperra Drive-In opened in 1966. The Keperra Drive-In started with one screen, and added a second screen around 1991. The Keperra Drive-In was closed in 1998 and was demolished(slowly?)(date unknown?), and the site is now the Kings Grove Housing Estate.

Australian representative Justice Bosio and fellow Queenslander Lewis Hoath held firm in a testing final round to win the Keperra Bowl at Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane
who has been selected to represent Australia at the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific in Thailand next month
shot a steady even par final round of 72 to triumph by three shots
while Hoath finished a remarkable 16-under for the tournament to prevail by two shots
The victory is 18-year-old Bosio's second at Keperra after she made history as the event's first female champion in 2020 when she stormed home with a pair of 67s
The Caboolture member only just made the cut then
but this time around she immediately found her groove as she led from start to finish
She opened the tournament with a three-under round of 69
but a second round 73 had her tied for the lead with soon to be Australian teammate Sarah Hammett
who shot the women's low round of the week with a 68 on Wednesday
Bosio took control from then on as a third round 70 - which could have been lower had it not been for a bogey-double bogey finish - moved her to four-under with a two-shot lead heading into the final day
and she was able to grow that buffer with her composed final round
The win was a drought breaker for Bosio - her first in a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event in two years - and she ended a streak of six runner-up finishes between victories
"I was more comfortable than I've been before," she said
"Last night I got a good sleep in and came to the golf course and played okay
"My game has changed a bit from a couple of years
It's a lot more consistent even though the score probably doesn't show it but it is more consistent
"I knew where I stood going into the back nine today and I just tried to keep calm
Hoath's triumph was his first in a WAGR event in nearly a year - he last won at the 2021 Tasmanian Amateur Championship - and it came courtesy of a sensational 36-hole burst
The RACV Royal Pines Resort Golf Club member opened the tournament with rounds of 70 and 68 before a third round 66 launched him into the lead
He began the final day with a one shot advantage and when he made an eagle at the first hole on Friday morning it appeared as if he could not be stopped
Bogeys at the second and fourth ensured that it would not be smooth sailing
but Hoath responded with three birdies prior to the turn
New South Wales Golf Club's Harry Bolton
who shot the low round of the week with a second round 65
drew with one shot of Hoath with seven holes to play but the Queenslander was not to be denied
Birdies at the 13th and 14th were crucial and they gave Hoath enough breathing room to drop a shot at the penultimate hole
he's a member here so he was giving me some good reads and everything was going on the line I wanted to," he said
"I held a pretty good putt on 14 and from then on I was like 'yeah
Defending champion Tyler Duncan finished tied for third alongside Brookwater's Taj Egea
while 15-year-old Hammett was in a three-way share of second place in the women's with fellow Queenslanders Haruhi Nakatini and Shyla Singh

MANY leading golf tournaments (professional and amateur) are being cancelled or pushed back
but not the Keperra Bowl which has been played annually at Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane for the past 16 years

a development application for a Bunnings Warehouse
Trade and Nursery and 3 separate buildings was approved
The application is for Centre Activities for varied land uses
including a large retail warehouse (hardware store)
subsequent associated applications have been assessed by Council (see further applications links) to address all aspects of the overall redevelopment
Bunnings Management has made announcements in local papers in 2015 and 2016 that works would begin
It is envisaged that with series of development application approvals now complete
especially the latest subdivision development application approved in mid December 2016
early works and the construction of Stage 1 will likely commence in 2017 and the store open late 2017 or 2018
According to the Bunnings Application material prepared by RPS Group states that “The site
has been extensively quarried over the last 50 years
This quarry operation has generated direct impacts on the area including noise
and indirect impacts including haul route truck movements

Cessation of the quarrying activities at the site has been a desire of the both the Council and local community for a number of years”

Frasers Property Australia has purchased land comprising the former Keperra Quarry near Brisbane
An Australian property company has outbid six other developers with a $31 million offer to transform a former Queensland quarry into a major neighbourhood development
Frasers Property Australia settled the acquisition of a 48.7ha Brisbane infill site that comprises the former Keperra Quarry
The land has approval for the development of a masterplanned residential community with up to 700 homes and about 60 per cent open green space
as well as a 7000m2 neighbourhood retail and childcare centre
The quarry was well known for its production of yellow/orange granite through to pink hues
from standalone and sculptured art pieces to specialist landscaping and construction uses
Brookfield Residential Properties secured approval for the residential development from the Brisbane City Council for material change of use in 2017
The site adjoins a Keperra shopping centre housing Bunnings
Colliers International listed the site last year and fielded more than 140 inquiries
“This is the largest infill site within the Brisbane fringe precinct that has been transacted in the last five years,” said Colliers’ Brisbane development sites director Brendan Hogan
“The scarcity of available zoned sites of this scale within a 10km radius of the CBD led to strong interest and seven offers from major national and international developers.”
Frasers Property Australia’s Queensland residential general manager Scott Ullman said the site is one of the most elevated areas of land in Brisbane
“The design for the masterplanned community is still being refined but most of the residential dwellings will be built between 100 and 145 metres above sea level
creating some spectacular views to the Glasshouse Mountains,” he said
“The significant scale of the Keperra site less than 10km from the Brisbane CBD presents an outstanding opportunity to create an urban environment that provides its residents with a convenient and connected lifestyle
a stunning outdoor environment and a commanding outlook.”
Ullman said the new community would offer buyers a choice with a combination of detached
“In a substantial commitment to revegetating the Keperra hillside
more than half of the site will be open space
comprising conservation land and stabilisation and rehabilitation of the quarried hillside
The remainder will be developed as residential
“Our focus now is to refine the masterplan design for the new community
working toward an expected launch in 2021.”

Scott Ullman, General Manager for Residential Queensland, Frasers Property Australia outlined that the quarry site is one of the most elevated areas of land in Brisbane (ranging from 80 to 190 metres above sea level) and the new community will offer people choice with a combination of detached
“The design for the master planned community is still being refined however most of the residential dwellings will be built between 100 and 145 metres above sea level
creating some spectacular views to the Glasshouse Mountains”
“The elevation is a real point of difference for this site
enabling us to apply our design and development expertise to maximise the natural advantages of being so high up”
“The significant scale of the Keperra site less than 10 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD presents an outstanding opportunity to create an urban environment that provides its residents with a convenient and connected lifestyle
a stunning outdoor environment and a commanding outlook”
“The existing preliminary approval is for up to 700 residential dwellings and parks and conservation areas and development applications have been lodged for a 7,000sqm neighbourhood retail and childcare centre.”
“Our focus now is to refine the master plan design for the new community
We are excited by the opportunity to transform this site into a truly unique residential community that will be a positive outcome for Keperra and Brisbane.” Mr Ullman says
Brendan Hogan and Adam Rubie, from Colliers International outlined the interest in the site
with the EOI campaign generating over 140 enquiries
“This is the largest infill site within the Brisbane fringe precinct that has been transacted in the last five years,”
“The scarcity of available zoned sites of this scale within 10km radius of the CBD led to strong interest and 7 offers from major national and international developers
a great result was achieved for all parties involved as well as the Keperra community.” stated Mr Hogan

WHAT does US PGA Tour star John Senden do when he takes a well-earned break from the world’s richest tour
He comes home to Brisbane and heads for Keperra Country Golf Club where he honed his incredible skills
Senden spent time playing golf with his dad Gerry and some of the club’s juniors
Then he volunteered his time to present trophies and prizes to delighted juniors at the Greg Norman Golf Foundation’s 36-hole Titleist Winter Classic at the club
“It’s always good to be back here at Keperra,” Senden told Inside Golf
“I came home for a mid-year break to see the family
catch up with Ian Triggs (coach) and help out at Keperra with the junior event,” he said
“I like to keep in touch with what happens at home and at the club
“And I think it’s a good break to get away from the tour.”
Senden was the centre of attention at the presentation of trophies with the juniors and parents alike
He engaged with and encouraged some of the winners including 17-year-old Blake Dowling from Isis Golf Club in Central Queensland and Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club’s Samantha Foley
Senden spent an hour signing autographs and having his photo taken with the stars of the future
it would be an event without a “selfie” or two
