Maudsland will go to auction at The Event 2025
The Event started 31 years ago when then-newcomer Mr Bell arrived on the Gold Coast and held an auction event with a dozen properties
“When we moved here to the Gold Coast from Sydney
was a time where everything shut down,” Mr Bell said
and I observed over the first Christmas periods
we had all of these people coming into our office looking to buy
we’ve got to do something to capture these people
“I thought let’s start off with an auction program to attract potential buyers.”
Palm Beach will be offered at The Event 2025
Mr Bell has called more than 20,000 auctions over 40 years and said he had experienced both the highs and lows of real estate

“But I’ve also experienced periods of time when the market has been absolutely terrible

“In recent years the Gold Coast has been coined the ‘lifestyle capital of Australia’ driving unprecedented demand and heightening the sense of scarcity for those looking to secure real estate.”

For owner Kerri-Lea Harris it has also been a cherished family home after she fell in love with the location and view 24 years ago
“I was halfway down the driveway when I knew I had to have it,” she recalled

Builders V-Build Construction Services and architects Clark + Granger collaborated to create the award-winning 2,000sqm home that not only earned the gong for MBA Gold Coast Home of the Year but the prize for best residential bathroom and kitchen.
The architects said Mountainview's 'scale and spatial drama' is balanced by the 'warmth and comfort of a traditional country house'.
'When creating the material palette for the house we very much wanted to draw on the natural surroundings of the house,' they said.
'We incorporated timber, stone, steel and water to bring warmth and texture to this monumental build. We drew inspiration form the colours of the gum trees and the texture and play of light and surface.'
MBA judges described the jaw-dropping home as 'something special' and 'deserving' of the top award.
'This project is huge, and includes the home, stables, Olympic-standard equestrian rink, machinery shed and a 10-car underground basement. This project boasts exceptional workmanship throughout,' they said.
'All bedrooms have an ensuite and are decorated with nine different wallpapers. The cobblestones were imported and repurposed from actual Belgium roadways.'

The 1970s built house at 38 Aruma Ave fetched $1.27 million at auction on Saturday – almost triple the $458,000 Ms Norton paid for it in 2006
The well-known Instagram blogger and author transformed the brick house into a contemporary coastal home with an industrial style

He said most homes in the area had a Hamptons style so people were intrigued to see something different
“I think the biggest thing was it bucks the trend for what’s been selling for so long in Burleigh,” Mr Willatt said
“Quite a lot of neighbours were interested to see how it went because it’s a little bit unique for Burleigh.”
He said they were surprised by the number of spectators at the auction
“There were probably about 50 people (who) attended the auction and we had three registered bidders,” Mr Willatt said
“We were not expecting such a big turn out – we weren’t expecting literally the whole street to turn up.”
a couple from Melbourne and a young Brisbane family battled it out for the property
“It was certainly well above expectation,” Mr Willatt said
“(Ms Norton) poured her heart and soul into this so it was really important that she got a good result.”
