The new office will be a family venture as Powell will be supported by her husband
Powell said leveraging her relationships with agents and property managers within LJ Hooker will be key to providing tailored real estate services across Mudgeeraba and surrounding areas
“Mudgeeraba and the surrounding suburbs offer a wide choice of lifestyle options
which is why it’s so popular among a diverse demographic,” Powell remarked
She said Mudgeeraba and neighbouring suburbs Bonogin
Tallai and Springbrook are known for their rural lifestyle appeal
the Gold Coast city of Worongary is undergoing a significant transformation
and various housing types are emerging in the SkyRidge community
Buyers can expect prices ranging from $500,000 to over $7 million
Powell said the Gold Coast region’s appeal has been growing due to new infrastructure and amenities
including a train station for Merrimac and the Gold Coast City Council’s purchase of Eaglemont for nature-based tourism
commended Powell’s leadership in expanding the brand’s reach
He said the Mudgeeraba and broader Gold Coast Hinterland community had a longstanding connection with the LJ Hooker brand
“It makes perfect sense for Roelien to take LJ Hooker’s service proposition into Mudgeeraba,” Colquhoun said
“By establishing themselves on-the-ground in Mudgeeraba
Roelien and her team will offer greater convenience to existing and new customers in the area.”
said it was exciting to see LJ Hooker sales agents advance into leadership roles
“Roelien is a quality agent who has worked in a high-performing environment at LJ Hooker Nerang
“I’m sure she’ll take some of Shane’s leadership wisdom with her
will deliver an unmatched real estate experience in the market.”
Mudgeeraba is on the market via Kollosche Broadbeach
Hollywood Hills chic has made its way to the Gold Coast Hinterland in the form of a mid- century modern-style masterpiece with 270-degree views
Perched on top of a hill, the five-bedroom Mudgeeraba home is the work of interior designer Michelle Marco
who sought to capitalise on every aspect of the view while creating a luxury residence sympathetic to its environment
The house appears to float above the city skyline
Mudgeeraba is going to auction on January 31
“You have these incredible views which take in sunrise
“It’s just spectacular so that really dictated how we approached the design of the property.”
the property boasts vast expanses of floor-to-ceiling glass as part of a cantilevered concrete and brick construction with 1112sq m of floor space under roof

There’s also an undercover entertaining area that takes in the sweeping views and a terrace that leads to a 14m infinity-edge pool
“There’s great connectivity between upstairs and downstairs,” Ms Marco said
“It lives like a one-storey home but is the size of a two-storey.”
The property blends a brutalist design influence with soft
taking cues from the surrounding environment
“It overlooks the bush and trees out the back and the landscape dictated the internal colour palette,” Ms Marco said
“Even though its luxurious it still feels relaxed and like a cosy family home.”
There is no shortage of space in the property
the property marked the realisation of an ambition
“I’d always wanted to do this style of home,” she said
“It sits on a concrete pad and appears as if it floats above the landscape
The design was driven by the elevation and topography of the block giving us the ability to capture those expansive views.”
Two years in the design and building phase
the house was completed in mid-2023 and boasts full automation
No expense has been spared on the interior fit-out
The property is built on over a hectare of land
Meanwhile the house sits on over a hectare of land
“The views and the glass blend the indoors with the outdoors and how the house feels is dictated by what’s happening with the weather,” Ms Marco said
“Sunny days are different to cloudy days when the clouds meet you right at the doors and the windows.”
Having designed and built properties in the past
Ms Marco said she believed this home ticked a number of boxes in terms of size
“It’s a big house that feels intimate and a lot of people comment on that,” Ms Marco said
“It’s very restful when you come up that hill at the end of the day or the end of the week and there’s this sense of respite and calm.”
The property is listed with Cooper Markovitch and Michael Kollosche of Kollosche Broadbeach and is set to go to auction on January 31

Homes and cars have been crushed by falling trees as high-speed winds from Tropical Cyclone Alfred wreak havoc on South East Queensland and northern NSW
Homes and cars have been crushed by falling trees as high-speed winds from Tropical Cyclone Alfred wreak havoc in South East Queensland and northern NSW.
The category two storm is continuing to head towards the Queensland coast
with the Bureau of Meteorology reporting that as of 12pm Friday it was 150km east southeast of Brisbane and 120km east northeast of the Gold Coast
"Alfred is most likely to cross over the Moreton Bay Islands Saturday morning before crossing the mainland coast
most likely between Noosa and Beenleigh later during Saturday," the BOM said.
High-speed winds from the storm are already beginning to cause significant damage
Two occupants of a Currumbin Valley home were lucky to escape with only minor injuries after a large gum tree crushed their home.
The Queensland Ambulance Service said both occupants of the home were transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition
"As Tropical Cyclone Alfred moves closer to the coast
avoid driving in windy and rainy conditions and stay indoors where possible," the ambulance service said in a statement
Multiple homes were also crushed by falling trees in Mudgeeraba
Other residents were lucky enough to have trees fall on their properties without landing on their homes
Damage from Cyclone Alfred has also left thousands of homes and businesses without power
As of 1.15pm on Friday, there were 44,646 Energex customers in South East Queensland without power
with more than 37,000 outages occurring on the Gold Coast.
Suburbs with the most homes and businesses without power were Coolangatta (3980) Tugan (3653)
Northern NSW has also been battered by Cyclone Alfred
with NSW SES reporting that as of Friday morning
they had already responded to 3,494 incidents
Trees have collapsed on homes and cars south of the border
The State Emergency Service has issued multiple flood warnings for the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast regions
urging residents to evacuate and move to higher ground.
NSW SES Commissioner Mike Wassing said emergency services were already needing to respond to flood rescue requests due to people driving through flood waters
while Deputy Premier Prue Car pleaded with members of the community to listen to advice
"Our message to the community is please stay safe and help the SES and authorities by making sure you stay away from the oceans (and) you do not go near flood waters," she said.
and if emergency services advise you to do something
please follow their orders and their advice."
Its boxy layout and bold brick-and-red tile exterior are worlds apart from today’s sleek coastal mansions
but this 1980s prize home stands as a time capsule of aspirational Gold Coast real estate
marking its first change of hands in 36 years
the winning Ipswich couple turned their prize into a lucrative long-term investment
earning a steady income for over three decades while continuing their modest suburban lives
It’s estimated the property may have generated a total of close to $1m in rental income
Considered the height of luxury in its heyday
the double-storey traditional Colonial-style home remained in mostly original condition but for an updated bathroom
said it was a bittersweet sale for the family
with one of the owners now deceased and his wife in aged care
“They were Ipswich locals who won the home as a prize
It has always been rented and the owners just continued their lives as normal
with their usual family and work commitments
but they picked up the bonus of a quite substantial windfall,” Mr Athanates said
they would have made hundreds of thousands of dollars
and even when they could have taken up residence there after they retired
Large corner block provides plenty of potential
The three-bedroom home on a well-maintained 4,109 sqm block was described as
offering plenty of potential for capital improvement
“This is a unique opportunity to own a large family home that you can both renovate and potentially add another residence to
something that’s rarely available at this price point and in such a desirable location,” the sales listing said
“You’ll enjoy the flexibility of creating a second dwelling while maintaining plenty of space
Mr Athanates said the Bertana Dr property had been
“promoted as an idyllic family home on an acre block and fitted out with an inground swimming pool that added a level of luxury which many people aspired to at that time”
The cozy family room with an open fireplace
Loo-dicrous way to add value to your home
Where you can invest for under $500,000
Why this turn-key home is creating a buzz
The home’s features comprised three large bedrooms including a master with walk-in robe and ensuite
cozy family room complete with open fireplace
A sturdy brick façade with red tiled gabled roof and rows of picture windows created retro appeal
while a neat pathway leading to wraparound veranda added to its charm
though the sellers ultimately achieved more than the advertised price guide of $1.2m to $1.3m
It was a symbol of an era where prize homes shaped Aussies’ fascination with real estate and the obsession with owning a dream home
Some Brisbane families spent their weekends visiting the latest prize homes
while those in the market to build or buy a property of their own sought inspiration from their avant-garde design
The Gold and Sunshine Coasts became key locations for the popular raffles
where home values skyrocketed over the years with hyper development along the coastal strip
The rising hinterland market of Mudgeeraba
close to shopping mecca Robina Town Centre and about 20 minutes from the beach
recorded house price growth of 17.5 per cent over the past year
Prize homes of the past focused on family functionality
A priceless tiara has been returned after an opportunistic robber stole it from a three-year-old girl's gravesite
Lorraine and David Conway, who live on the Gold Coast
lost their daughter Brittney three weeks after she ingested a button battery in July 2020
Brittney was buried beneath a black marble gravestone at a Mudgeeraba cemetery
to which her parents had embedded a locked glass box to house her special tiara
It suddenly vanished in June and since then Mr and Mrs Conway have publicly pleaded for the 'dirty low life' thief who took it to give it back immediately
'I was so angry to think someone had taken something so precious, taken it out of somewhere so sacred,' Mrs Conway told 7News on July 1.
'If you’re watching this and you’ve taken it, I don’t hate you — just take it back to her.'
On Monday Mrs Conway said she went back to the cemetery to find that the irreplaceable headpiece had been returned to her daughter's lock box.
Mrs Conway thanked everyone who helped spread the word, which ultimately led to the tiara's return.
'We found it last night... So so happy,' she wrote on Facebook.
Ms Conway said the tiara was embedded into her daughter's grave as a reminder of how much she loved her little girl.
'We just wanted her to know she was our little princess,' Ms Conway said.
Locals rallied behind the distraught family, with some offering to donate money for a new tiara and another pledging $1,000 for anyone who could find the original.
The couple first noticed the missing tiara in the last week of June.
'What dirty low life dogs to steal my daughter's tiara from her lock box on her grave,' Ms Conway fumed online at the time.
It remains a mystery as to who took or returned the tiara.

“The house was literally falling down and had holes in the roof.”
“It was ridden with termites so if you wanted to renovate you would have had to rebuild the whole frame
so better to knock it down and start again.”
