said a man was at home with his wife and six-month-old child when a man approached him in his driveway
“The husband has seen a bulge around the male’s waist
and the vehicle has subsequently been taken,” Jackson said
Jackson said witnesses had reported seeing a gun pointed out of the stolen car
which had reached speeds of up to 110km/h during the overnight chase
He said a male police officer fired two rounds into the car when he saw the woman allegedly point the gun at the man driving the vehicle
who was in the car and armed with a firearm
“She has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening upper body injuries and is currently under police guard.”
The 27-year-old Noble Park man was also arrested at the scene

“I’ve come to get bread for school lunches and noticed the whole place was cordoned off,” he said
“I walked down and spoke to one of the officers and she informed me she’d been there since 5.30 this morning
and that’s pretty much all she disclosed.”
He said he had noticed police attending the area more often recently
“Mulgrave and Springvale seem to be having more crime and police activity
A few streets over the other night there was a bit of a brawl or a gang argument towards Springvale south,” he said
Surrounding streets remained closed on Friday morning

Jackson said police were investigating whether the woman involved was already known to them
The incident comes less than a week after a man allegedly armed with a metal pole was shot by police during a welfare check in the southeastern Melbourne suburb of Doveton
That man was later charged with three offences including assaulting police
Jackson said the incidents were completely unrelated
and using their gun was a last resort for officers
“No police member wants to come to work and have to either draw or use their firearm

Mulgrave will look to go one step further and play in a Grand Final in 2025 after a fantastic 2024 season
Marred by injuries late in the home-and-away season
Mulgrave still managed to make a strong finals push before bowing out in the Preliminary Final
Senior coach Matt Richards will be at the helm for another season
looking to right the previous season’s wrongs
“We were pretty unlucky coming into our finals series with some key players getting injured,” said Richards
“We felt we had the right list to go really deep… we think we’re pretty close”
Richards is just one of many at Mulgrave Reserve who are optimistic that this side has what it takes to go all the way
“We feel we know what’s needed to win at our level and we want to get the boys all playing the right way to do that”
The Lions will have to do so in the absence of Lin Jong
as the ex-AFL player departs the club after a season which saw him voted in the Team of the Year
whilst also winning the club Best and Fairest and finishing runner-up in the league Best and Fairest
with EFNL Life Member and 300 gamer Adam Booth and player/assistant coach Fletcher Roberts looking to fill the gaps that Jong has left both on and off the field
“We have learnt a lot off what [Jong] implemented in our midfield last year,” said Richards
“[Fletcher Roberts] has really stood up to help me now in the planning of things… he’s got so much experience”
Among those to recommit to another season at Mulgrave Reserve is Division Two Team of the Year player and 2025 captain Connor Tilyard
He will be joined by U19.5 league Best and Fairest winner Noah Smith
It's also set to be a special year at Mulgrave with the club celebrating it's centenary year in 2025
not only for the current list that will represent Mulgrave in it's 100th year
but also for it's past players and members

has had thousands of people viewing it online thanks to a video promoting the home featuring Hollywood star Liam Neeson
A Mulgrave home spruiked by Hollywood star Liam Neeson has passed in at auction
with the $1.27m best offer below the top of its asking range
The agent handling the home’s sale is now preparing to use a very particular set of skills to get a deal done in the aftermath
BigginScott director Ming Xu said the extraordinary Liam Neeson voice cameo in the marketing video for 34 Gertrude St
had resulted in more than 5000 people looking at the home online ahead of its auction today

Prospective buyer interest in display homes surges across Victoria post-rate cut
Revealed: Interest rate cut sparks Melbourne bidding wars as auction prices soar past reserves
It’s more than double what a house in the area normally gets
and close to 3000 of the visits came within a few days of the video
being posted online — thanks to a connection between its film director owner and the Hollywood star
multiple living zones and was last advertised with a $1.2m-$1.3m asking price
But Real Estate Institute of Victoria president Jacob Caine said there was plenty of reason for sellers to be positive on the first weekend where buyers had functionally had enough time to make adjustments based on the Reserve Bank’s decision to cut interest rates
Mr Caine is still expecting a “bumper result” for the city’s auctions
The Mulgrave home promoted by Liam Neeson comes with an impressive outdoor zone
the home stands out for more reasons than its owners’ connection with a Hollywood heavyweight
“The weekend ahead will be the weekend that it has a real world impact of the rate cut,” Mr Caine said
but when people go out to bid today they will have a much clearer understanding of what their borrowing capacity and serviceability is.”
Real Estate Buyers Agents Association of Victoria representative Matthew Scaffidi said those planning a purchase now had until about the end of March to get the best of the market
with Easter creating a significant barrier to sales in the middle of April and lower listings expected after that as the market heads into the traditionally quiet winter
Mr Scaffidi said it was possible this week’s clearance rate might not jump immediately if home sellers got ahead of themselves and assumed prices had already risen in response to the cut — however a further bump to the market was likely as a new wave of buyers emerged in the next 20 to 50 days
sold during the week for close to $200,000 above expectations
The home’s light and bright interior made it a compelling choice for five bidders
There were already signs of rising demand this week in midweek auctions
Ray White Taylors Lakes principal Peter Travlos watched 25 of 27 homes sell under the hammer in two nights of sales earlier in the week and noted that the results
had very clearly been influenced by the interest rate cut
“There is a whole different vibe compared to January
when we had two or three bidders,” Mr Travlos said
One of the top results was for 7 Salvana Court, Taylors Lakes, which sold for $1.202m
close to $200,000 above what had been expected
“In the past six months we haven’t seen anything exceed $100,000 over reserve
it’s been closer to $50,000-$60,000 in that timeline,” Mr Travlos said

To sell his home in Mulgrave, Dean Fay enlisted a famous friend to add a taste of Hollywood to his real estate listing.
Liam Neeson, who has one of the most iconic voices in Hollywood, lent his voice to the real estate video designed to advertise the house.

The 19ha site at 522-530 Wellington Road, Mulgrave, 21km south-east of the Melbourne CBD, has been earmarked for a last-mile logistics estate.
The estate is expected to yield a 113,000sq m of gross lettable area.
An industry source told The Urban Developer they believed around $160 million was paid for the site.
Property magnate Harry Stamoulis has been reported as the previous owner of the site, picking it up for $90.75 million in 2017.
The site location is why the partners wanted it, Elanor industrial and logistics co-head Myron Poobalasingam said.
“The site’s unrivalled access to major arterial roads makes it well positioned to capitalise on the much-talked about last mile logistics thematic with the site having access to approximately 35 per cent of Melbourne’s population within a 30-minute drive time catchment,” Poobalasingam said.
Supermarket giant Woolworths currently leases a 68,000sq m storage facility on the site. That ends on 2026 when it plans to close that facility down.
For its part, PGIM Real Estate’s made the acquisition under its strategy to acquire sites in the Asia Pacific region. It is the $305-billion real estate investment and financing business for PGIM.
In turn, PGIM is a subsidiary of Prudential Financial Inc, with $1.98 trillion in global investment management.
PGIM Australia real estate head of transactions Greg Linklater said the continuing growth of e-commerce was underscoring the rising demand for last-mile logistics.
“The structural trends of e-commerce penetration and favourable long-term population growth outlook in Australia are making a strong investment case for the logistics sector,” Linklater said.
“We think this investment presents a compelling opportunity with strong rental growth prospects.”
PGIM Real Estate managing director Steve Bulloch said they had made six strategic investments so far this year in Australia with an emphasis on the logistics and living sectors.
It is also the third successful capital raise this year in partnership with Elanor’s institutional distribution partner Fidante.
