The Fort Worth Water Department (Water Department) has requested use of a portion of Live Oak Park (Park) for a water and sanitary sewer maintenance area (Maintenance Area). Due to growth in far west Fort Worth
it is necessary to construct a new sewer lift station (Project) to provide sanitary sewer service for continued growth in far west Fort Worth
The Water Department has requested the use of a portion of the Park for the maintenance area. The Project location was selected to use existing City of Fort Worth land that is out of the existing 100-year floodplain and minimize impact to trees
The proposed site straddles City of Fort Worth parkland and City of Fort Worth non-parkland
The proposed maintenance area is approximately 10,679 square feet
Project construction is anticipated to begin June 2025 and last approximately 18 months. The City Forester has determined that no trees within the Park require removal for the Project. In accordance with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code - Chapter 26
the City of Fort Worth seeks to use a portion of Live Oak Park for a permanent water and sewer maintenance area. On March 26
the Park & Recreation Advisory Board endorsed staff’s recommendation to the City Council to authorize the use of portions of Live Oak Park for a water and sanitary sewer maintenance area
In accordance with state law and the Fort Worth City Charter

A federal jury convicted Dr. Charise Valentine, 69, of Southfield, of conspiracy to distribute prescription opioids, including Oxycodone and Oxymorphone, unlawfully.
Valentine was convicted on Friday (April 25) for her role as one of two primary doctors at the Orthopedic Medical Building, where she issued illegal opioid prescriptions.
From November 2016 to July 2018, Valentine issued more than 3,000 prescriptions for over 200,000 pills to supposed “patients” who did not have a legitimate medical need for the drugs.
Those “patients” were typically brought to the clinic by “patient recruiters/marketers.”
Orthopedic Medical Building, a sham clinic that operated out of a warehouse in Oak Park, Michigan, accepted only cash and charged patients between $200 and $500 per prescription.
However, no fees were charged if the patient did not receive an opioid prescription.
The prices were not based on the services provided but rather on the quantity, type, and dosage of prescription opioids received, usually Oxycodone 30 mg or Oxymorphone 40 mg—two of the most addictive prescription opioids.
Those drugs were also among the most highly diverted due to their high street value.
The clinic also charged cash for creating fraudulent medical records for the supposed “patients.”
Valentine was paid about 50% of the clinic’s proceeds—more than $500,000 in cash over approximately 19 months—and was compensated only if she wrote an opioid prescription, not based on any supposed “medical care.”
She received an envelope containing thousands of dollars in cash each day she worked.
The other defendants charged in the case, including clinic operator Iris Winchester, Dr. Michele Ritter, clinic employee Kristina Brown, and Joyce Robinson, previously pleaded guilty.

Bags of cash fell out of a Brinks Security Company truck last week in a Chicago suburb
resulting in approximately $300,000 being stolen
The back door of the truck opened by "unknown means" in Oak Park
The incident happened while the driver was moving southbound on Austin Boulevard on Tuesday
Brinks noted that upon returning to the area
between 50 and 100 people were seen taking money and fleeing
The total estimated amount lost was approximately $300,000
A representative from the Village of Oak Park told NBC Chicago no one was in custody as of Friday
We'll catch you up on the news you need to know with the Chicago Catch-Up newsletter
Oak Park was relegated from Division One after a one-win season
For a club that qualified for the Premier Division grand final in 2011
it completed a dramatic slide to the Essendon District Football League's third tier
But under the leadership of premiership player
and former Williamstown VFL assistant Todd Clark
the Kangaroos have bounced back with vigour
After claiming the Division Two flag last year
Oak Park – like all promoted clubs – set survival as its top priority this year
But after a patchy start in the hotly contested Division One competition
the Kangaroos rallied to finish fifth with nine wins in the home-and-away campaign
two-and-a-half games clear of sixth-ranked Craigieburn
They enjoyed a six-game winning run between rounds 11-17 to emphatically stamp their spot in finals
Oak Park's season ended with a plucky 14-point defeat to St Albans in Sunday's elimination final
but a quick glance at history underlines the enormity of their achievement
The Kangaroos are the first senior men's side to contest Division One finals the year after promotion since the EDFL reintroduced three divisions over a decade ago
Airport West achieved the feat in Premier Division in 2013
who had no hesitation in declaring his team had exceeded expectations this season
said the club was determined to avoid a dose of "second-year blues" and get busy over summer
"We've seen that and we've been very wary of that
If we don't get out there and are bullish to get the players we want
"You're never going to get everything you want
but hopefully we can get some (players) in
and we said after the game obviously on Sunday that we were proud of the season and we were brave
"But we're not going to hang our hat on that
"The players are really driving it and saying
Clark said Oak Park had assembled the right group to take them forward
He said his players were hungry to continue to improve as the Kangaroos look to add depth to their list
while also bolstering their key-position stocks
there was a couple of hurdles along the way with COVID (2020)
and then Keilor Park just dominating (2022)," Clark said
we were pretty much thinking if we can't move up this year
then players start thinking if they want to improve their footy somewhere else..
so that (winning the Division Two premiership) was tick number one and now they want to keep growing and keep playing against these good sides to measure themselves as a team
just a couple of key posts to support – down back and forward and potentially a ruck
So you've got to try and manage your group to see if it can work."
Oak Park's impressive season has already had a positive impact on its bid to strengthen its list
"Probably your best recruiters are your players
The one thing for us moving forward is because of the showing we did this year
we're starting to get people (coming) our way
'Can we have a chat' versus the other way," Clark said
"That's one of the advantages of being able to make the finals and show that we weren't just in there to survive
"It's bloody hard to recruit Division Two footballers
so we need to keep pushing through with that
"They're as close off the field as on the field
The Kangaroos landed an influential set of recruits with the likes of Jye Smith (Moama)
and Adam Clemente (Pascoe Vale) among those to impress
Clark described them as "good club people" and added: "If you get on your own pedestal
Oak Park was forced to make changes after losing several members of the previous year's premiership-winning team
but it appears in good shape with stars Max Gleeson
and Lachlan Ronaldson also at their disposal
Probably 60-70 per cent of them have played under 12s at Oak Park and all the way through," Clark said
"Even getting Kane O'Halloran (65 goals in 2024) and Rory MacGregor from Therry
they played juniors with these guys at Oak Park as well
Clark said his players thrived under the extra heat of the second tier this season
and St Albans – the predicted top contenders pre-season – remain in the flag race
the Kangaroos proved themselves as the clear fifth best team and have laid a platform for future success
it wasn't that daunting for them," Clark said
"Obviously there's bigger bodies and the speed of the game and so on
"We knew that the first half of the year was going to be finding our feet and we always thought we'd have a better second half
The top four sides were pretty hard to get
they kept going and our injury list wasn't too bad
But otherwise we were pretty much where we were at
"No one looked like a fish out of water playing their role
where you can dominate and get some lazy habits and so on
"They relished the contest and they were the ones who were really confident that we could push (teams)."
a dual senior premiership mentor at Oak Park
said his future in the top job would be discussed in coming weeks
"I've just got to work through some stuff with my footy manager and see how we go," he said
It was raining money in Illinois after the back door of an armored truck accidentally opened and dropped almost $300,000 in cash
was traveling southbound on Austin Boulevard in Oak Park
on April 22 when its "back door opened by unknown means" and dropped three bags of cash
Village of Oak Park said in an email to USA TODAY April 29
When the driver returned to the location where the door had opened
they saw "between 50-100 people removing money from the scene and fleeing the area both on foot and in vehicles," authorities said
adding the total loss was estimated to be $300,000
Village of Oak Park spokesperson Dan Yopchick said Oak Park Police Department is investigating the incident and anyone wishing to share information on the incident can do so anonymously by calling 708-464-1636 or visiting www.oak-park.us/crimetip
Authorities did not mention if any arrests had been made
Brinks referred USA TODAY to law enforcement agencies and declined to comment further on the incident
Last week's incident was not the first time money has fallen out of a moving truck in recent years
In November 2021, the door of an armored truck reportedly "popped open" in California on the Interstate 5 freeway near San Diego, prompting drivers to stop their cars to pick up the "bags of cash" that fell out, the San Diego Tribune reported
citing California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt
“It was free-floating bills all over the freeway," Bettencourt had said
with authorities noting the bills flying across the lanes were primarily $1 and $20 bills
Prior to that, in May 2018, the door of a Brinks armored truck opened and spilled packages of money across 1-70 in Indianapolis

deploying over 500 data loggers to continuously monitor underground pipes
These loggers detect sound waves from leaks
allowing utility teams to identify and repair issues before they escalate
Oak Park has successfully located and fixed over fifty previously undetected leaks
improving efficiency and compliance with state water conservation regulations
By embracing real-time data and proactive monitoring
the village is setting a precedent for sustainable water management in the face of aging infrastructure and environmental challenges

with a state investigation substantiating a complaint of neglect on the part of the provider
The Minnesota Department of Health's report says the incident happened at Oak Park Senior Living on Dec
A report states the resident was found on the floor with his arm wedged between the bed and a bed rail
with his feet pinned underneath his motorized wheelchair
an unlicensed employee went to the resident's room to help him with a shower around 3 p.m
First responders were told by the resident that he had been stuck like that for two days
asking for staff to check on him repeatedly
Oak Park Senior Living has denied the claim that the resident had been in that situation for two days
The resident had "dark purple bruising on his right arm
around his elbow," and "dark purple bruising and swelling on his right hand." The man also had redness and purple bruising "from his right armpit to his chest," with a cut on his left leg that extended from shin to his toes and was bleeding
The man also had bruising on his kneecap outside of his leg
The man died four days later at a hospital
He had developed sepsis and kidney failure
but a medical examiner's determination found that the resident died from complications of prolonged partial entrapment in the side rail of the bed
The employee who found the resident told MDH investigators said he was supposed to receive a safety check from a different employee earlier that morning but claimed that employee didn't always complete her required duties.
The resident's safety plan included assistance with weekly housekeeping
and one daily safety check scheduled at 10 a.m
The employee who was tasked with checking on the man claimed she stopped by the man's room around 8 or 8:30 a.m
and alleged that he used his "grabber" to crack his door open as he was sitting in his wheelchair
The department found the facility guilty of neglect
stating among other things that it "failed to follow professional standards and/or exercise professional judgment," and that "the facility failed to act in good faith interest of the vulnerable adult."
it says the facility has changed its procedures for conducting safety checks and nursing assessments
Oak Park Senior Living has been advised of its right to appeal the state's finding
Oak Park Senior Living residence director Terri Pratt provided the following statement to Bring Me The News
refuting the claim that the resident had been stuck for two days
claiming they had spoken to the resident the day before he was found
Pratt also claimed that a staff member checked on the resident the morning of the same day he was found
“While this incident is truly unfortunate
it is not a reflection of the overall quality of care provided at Oak Park Senior Living
We strive to provide the type of high quality
compassionate care that residents and their families want
We are sorry for the pain this has caused to this resident’s family
Our first priority – always – is to provide quality care and to keep residents safe."
