The kick faded to the right and gave Randwick a chance to strike two metres out from the line after another Japanese mistake. Turinui and Yassmin combined off their goal-line to spark the home crowd into life before the sides traded turnovers, looking for the winner. It took until the 84th minute before the 'Lebanese Lamborghini' raced clear for the winner, taking the kick from the young playmaker and racing away for the try. Randwick started fast for a 19-7 lead at half-time as their scrum were dominant early. Oscar Jorgensen, cousin of Wallabies star Max, set up the opener with a powerful burst as scrumhalf Tim Sippel scored. Two further tries gave them the 12-point lead before Japan hit back as the Randwick side made mass changes. Japan hit the front shortly afterwards, but Randwick found the answer right from the kick-off through second-row Angus Houston, his second for the game. It set up a tense final 15 minutes as both sides looked for a winner in the exhibition. patty has an umami mushroom infusion that was designed to make the beef more flavoursome and moist Find out more about what this is like and what else there is on the menu The last time I went to this location on Perouse Rd in Randwick, it was Soul Burger, a vegan burger restaurant There are still subtle signs of Soul Burger with a sticker showing that the vegan burger range is available online Umami House also has the same owner Amit Tewari There's a range of beef burgers alongside a vegetarian and vegan burger as well as sides and shakes Amit found that having a vegan only offering restricted his clientele Before Umami House launched he did a lot of testing to create something different "To create an insatiable burger it’s tempting to add more fat but I feel that detracts from it’s ability to be eaten frequently Enhancing umami is an amazing way to pack in flavour without excessive fats or salt Beef has natural umami properties and so we worked really hard on enhancing that natural umami flavour – we decided infusing shiitake & umami seasoning into the patty created the best umami beef patty," explains Amit This "fifth taste" was first identified by Japanese scientist Kikunae Ikeda in 1908 It is described as a savoury or meaty flavour and is found in foods rich in glutamates and nucleotides e.g He tested out variations using Wagyu and Angus beef and landed on the burger patty of today which is Angus beef infused with shiitake and umami salt There's a craft beer on tap available for $5 a schooner but we try one of their shakes The shakes are made with coconut ice cream so they are lactose free I love strawberry so we try one of those and it's rich creamy and strongly flavoured with strawberry sauce I start with their most popular burger the Umami Classic with their signature umami beef patty umami mayo with slices of fresh tomato and baby cos lettuce The patty has more flavour to it thanks to the shiitake infusion and it's also juicier than other burger patties as well You can taste the mushroom flavour right at the end of the bite too And the umami mayo is a mix of naturally umami-rich foods like tomatoes My favourite burger however is the Umami Bacon with the same signature umami beef patty umami mayo with slices of fresh tomato and baby cos lettuce but with crispy free range bacon added to it as well as tomato and bbq sauce If I can offer a little tip it's to add one of the onion rings to it The onion rings add an appealing crunch to each bite and this is luscious and saucy (don't wear white!) My other favourite burger apart from the Umami Bacon is the Smashed Cheese because I love pickles to the point of distraction If you are also that person then you may like this one too The Smashed Cheese burger has two thinly smashed umami beef patties The patties are still quite thick and this is an enormous burger If you're looking for something a bit more unusual the truffle shuffle is a really good The truffle flavour comes from the aromatic truffle mayonnaise If you are going for a vegetarian burger I recommend the Shroom-mami with crumbed mushrooms that are stuffed with two cheeses This burger has a nice crunch to it from the crispy crunchy mushrooms and it doesn't taste like you're missing out on anything with that delicious blend of cheeses Mr NQN and I never agree on any food and his favourite burger was the one that would probably order last He loves the house made plant based soy protein patty with a choice of vegan or American cheese it's just that the patty tastes like a plant based patty and that is a little distracting in each bite especially after all of those juicy beef patties The parmesan and truffle fries come in a generous sized serve that looks designed for two people The French fries are topped with grated Parmesan cheese black truffle oil and sea salt with thick lashings of truffle mayonnaise The fried cauliflower bites are wonderfully crunchy with a light batter and a smokey chipotle seasoning I really like how crunchy these and the onion rings below are I love it when deep fried food has a tangy salt seasoning like vinegar salt or lime salt These onion rings are super crisp onion rings and are seasoned with a delicious lime chilli salt that makes them so moreish I liked the onion rings the best especially when wedged into the burgers for extra crunch what do you think of this beef patty concept NQN and friends were guests of Umami House but all opinions remain her own Open 7 days 11:30-9pm (10pm Fridays and Saturdays) As part of a program of improved healthcare facilities for patients families and staff across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network the Randwick redevelopment program will deliver new and expanded health services for our state’s children Email: SCHN-Redev@health.nsw.gov.au The $658 million Sydney Children’s Hosptial Stage 1 and Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre redevelopment is underway, paving the way for Randwick to be home to a state-of-the-art paediatric health, medical research and education hub. within the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct The major light installation aims to transform the laneways of the Randwick Health Campus and improve night-time connectivity and comfort in the precinct It is the second major art project in a new Laneway Art Program commissioned by Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct and supported by Transport for NSW’s Safer Cities program The Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct is a 24-hour precinct home to four hospitals and a major university Women comprise around 80 per cent of the hospital’s workforce – many working night shifts and moving through the campus streets after dark The artwork was developed in consultation with health workers to better understand how they use the area and what would improve their experience across the site Considering this feedback and the surrounding environment the work has been created to improve connections for people walking across the neighbouring campuses “Spaces we use to transition into and out of work modes are a chance to reset our focus a moment to take a breath to ground ourselves and remind us of our vital and unique connection to the universe and each other,” Dr Haley said “I hope that Lunar Sway encourages workers and the community to look up and reflect on the constant gentle glow and to bathe in the changing colour light patterns as they walk.” Lunar Sway features glowing elliptical orbs and gently changing light beams suspended from custom poles in two key precinct streets Inspired by lunar cycles and the colours of the sunrise and sunset the work illuminates a corridor through the campus to connect people when walking to public transport and feeling of safety for health workers at night while acting as a beacon for the broader community It aims to reimagine humans’ connection to the night sky and each other despite different viewpoints and experiences The work is now set to transform the precinct’s laneways providing an ongoing and evolving connection to the nightlife of the surrounding area A five-minute walk from the final stop on the L2 Randwick light rail line Lunar Sway illuminates Nurses Drive off Avoca Street and nearby Francis Martin Drive Visitors can stroll to enjoy the artwork and local area attractions such as the Newmarket dining precinct on Barker Street and Randwick Ritz Cinema and cafés on St Paul’s Street This initiative is funded by Transport for NSW’s Safer Cities program which is investing $30 million over two years to improve perceptions of safety in our cities and towns Remove items from your saved list to add more November that Marrickville’s newly hatted Baba’s Place had partnered with chef Dan Puskas to work on a then-confidential project that tapped into the latter’s Hungarian heritage chef Carley Scheidegger and co-owners Alex Kelly and Dan Puskas.Wolter PeetersNow the two venues have unveiled the sympathetic revamp they’ve given the food and decor at Randwick’s four-decade-old Corner 75 Hungarian restaurant The March 6 launch is one of the most anticipated openings of the year The flouncy lace half-curtains that drape the time-capsule dining room remain on the Corner 75 shopfront something new,” Kelly said Corner 75’s new owners have shown the sort of meticulous care you’d expect from an episode of Restoration Australia Kelly said they documented where every framed artefact sat on the wall prior to renovation “They’re culturally load-bearing,” Kelly jokes about returning each item to the correct spot The chandelier still dangles above the dining room and they’ve restored the sign on the street “Corner 75 is a Fun Place with Great Food,” is etched above the entrance we discovered another carpet from the 1980s under it We’ve gone for something between the two shades,” Kelly said Randwick.Wolter PeetersOutgoing owner Paul Varga upheld Corner 75’s traditions and Hungarian menu after taking the reins in 2012 Chef Dan Puskas has the advantage of Hungarian heritage (Hungarian footballer Ferenc Puskas’ jersey graces the restaurant’s walls and knows the cuisine is viewed as more traditional than cutting edge “We hope to change the way people look at Hungarian food,” Puskas said. As owner-chef at the innovative Sixpenny, which is perched at the three-hat summit of Sydney restaurants you might expect Puskas to oversee a complete overhaul of the Corner 75 menu they’ve kept more than 80 per cent of the old menu but it has been upgraded with heritage-breed chicken You can still grab an order of nokedli dumplings they even serve it with house-made sour cream LP’s pork and paprika sausage with condiments.Wolter PeetersPuskas worked painstakingly through the menu with Corner 75 head chef Carley Scheidegger and Baba’s Place executive chef Jean-Paul El Tom They settled on pork and chicken schnitzels after plans to add a Viennese version were put on hold due to the high cost of veal and you can order a mini-sized of the chicken soup with semolina dumplings for $8 “For me it’s all about the different sides – fermented red cabbage and creamed spinach,” Puskas said. Scheidegger’s background and skill with pastry at Fred’s will shine when the dessert trolley starts rolling The fields of sunflowers El Tom spotted on a research trip to Hungary also inspired the team “We have a sunflower seed dip,” Puskas said and there is sunflower seed milk in one of the cocktails.” 75 Frenchmans Road, Randwick, corner75.com.au A Greek ‘grill house’ where the gyros actually taste like they do in GreeceThe sourdough pita is baked to-order in a wood-fire oven and the meat is prepared over three days, before it’s cooked on a rotisserie. Jackie O Henderson bought a Clovelly property for $13.25m in March 2023 A Sydney council has confirmed it received complaints over Jackie O Henderson’s $5m home rebuild — but not over what you might think Recent media reports revealed neighbours were up in arms in the tiny Clovelly cul-de-sac where the KIIS star is demolishing the existing home to make way for a luxury mansion with a pool big trucks and the inclusion of a site office One neighbour, Lynn, told news.com.au that tradesmen were obstructing access to her driveway “I don’t want to have to go to them every time I want to get out of my driveway,” she said Questions are now being raised about whether the issues are real or just a bunch of NIMBY neighbours making noise for no reason MORE: All revved up over $2m+ car spots An artist’s impression of Jackie O’s new dream home A Randwick Council spokesperson confirmed there had been just two complaints received during the demolition process and neither had anything to do with noise traffic or trucks — both related to concerns about environmental impacts “Council has received two complaints relating to sedimentation run-off,” the spokesperson said council officers attended the property and requested the builder implement additional sediment mitigation measures to reduce potential run-off to the ocean.” The council confirmed the builders complied with the request to its satisfaction Neighbours say they never approached Randwick Council officially because it was “pointless” “I’ve never had success trying to get any concerns through to them Randwick Council has received two complaints about run-off into the ocean from the demolition site But the council spokesperson said if residents were negatively affected by the demolition and construction they should advise the council through official channels “Council officers regularly inspect building sites to enforce conditions of consent to ensure development occurs in accordance with relevant approvals standards and regulations,” the spokesperson said “We encourage community members to report any suspected breaches to council for investigation.” Complaints from neighbours speaking to news.com.au last week descended into personal attacks on Henderson rather than focusing on issues with the property I can’t imagine what kind of person she is with all of her potty humour,” Lyn said of Henderson Locals in Henderson’s street apparently fear the situation is set to get worse with a tradie working on the site saying construction won’t be complete until June 2026 after commencing in December last year The council DA confirms a complete “demolition of existing structures and construction of a 3-storey dwelling house with a double garage ancillary and landscaping works” is proposed Construction is set to continue until June next year Jackie O sold a home in Woollahra before buying the Clovelly home overlooking Gordons Bay for $13.25m in March 2023 The plans for the four-bedroom home were designed by architect Madeleine Blanchfield and Henderson reckons it will be “like you are in Italy on the Amalfi Coast” when complete Her landscaping by Dangar Barin Smith will be a mix of native and Mediterranean species prostrate rosemary and prickly rasp fern with a ‘‘root barrier’’ to protect nearby structures and services Alexander Phillips of the Phillips Pantzer Donnelley agency believes the radio star could fetch upwards of $25 million if she moved to sell after construction was completed third parties have written and supplied the content and we are not responsible for it completeness or reliability of the information nor do we accept any liability or responsibility arising in any way from omissions or errors contained in the content We do not recommend sponsored lenders or loan products and we cannot introduce you to sponsored lenders We strongly recommend that you obtain independent advice before you act on the content realestate.com.au is owned and operated by ASX-listed REA Group Ltd (REA:ASX) © REA Group Ltd. Michelangelo looks to have the best grounding for the mile tackling it fourth up coming through the Baillieu when sixth to Nepotism He has just taken time to get himself organised in all three of his runs so far Nepotism catapulted himself into favouritism for the Champagne Stakes it was Plan B after the nominations were so light but she has been beating up the older horses She ran good time when winning out to 1400m last start holding out Rose Aye who before that gave Istolea Merc a scare at Nowra There has been money for her at big odds in early betting Polish Playgirl was unlucky at Flemington last start She improved sharply off her Magic Night debut Via Sistina is the odd-on favourite for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.Credit: Getty Images Canara looks well set up tackling 1400m third up She is up in grade but is no stranger to black-type company The daughter of I Am Invincible ran as well as she could first up over 1100m rattling home into second behind Written In Code Then she went straight out to 1400m and although suited by a high-pressure race she was forced to come from last to fight out the finish with Mogul Monarch She was beaten a nostril in a photo finish Respect that she jumped a $5 chance in the Carbine Club over the spring before annihilating her rivals in maiden company at Moonee Valley Sargeant Major was beaten nearly five lengths by Autumn Glow in the Darby Munro but it was a fast race and the winner looks a star in the rise Nostringsattached is six weeks between runs but has won a jump out since Matcha Latte hasn’t seen much of the racetrack in the past few years having spent 77 weeks on the sidelines recently The five-year-old had just one run last campaign tackling the group 3 Cameron Handicap at Newcastle where he ran Here To Shock to half a length He returned at Newcastle where he was run down late by 2 Matcha Latte took good benefit from that outing heading back to Newcastle three weeks later Money Team has won four from four since being transferred to Brad Widdup The dominance of his last two wins makes him a player here He ran straight past subsequent winner Mogul Monarch at Gosford to book his spot Will need a Craig Williams special from the gate Kris Lees has owned this race since its inception He books James McDonald for Lord Of Biscay Savvy Hallie has been overlooked in early betting The Brad Widdup-trained filly started $8 in the Reisling against 2 Savvy Hallie has run in the Baillieu since then who is favourite for the Champagne Stakes off that win Not sure what she has done wrong to now be considered a $26 outsider she ran the subsequent Black Opal winner King Of Pop to a narrow margin at Warwick Farm Should settle in the first couple from the inside gate Inkaruna has been freshened since running well in the Reisling That was only her second career start jumping 1000m to a truly run 1200m contest Tempted maps to settle last and has been around the block a few times this autumn but she must keep bouncing back for James Cummings to press on Enriched was runner-up to Autumn Glow last start and although it’s hard to make a case for him to turn the tables he looks well set up to run another placing This race isn’t an afterthought like it is for many others here Public Attention got himself into a perfect spot from the wide draw in The Kiwi last start but perhaps was found out at 1500m The best performance of his campaign was over this track and trip in the Eskimo Prince Ran well back to 1200m in the VRC Classic in the spring off a freshen so there is a precedent there Treasurethe Moment has won an imposing seven straight races That goes back to the Wakeful and VRC Oaks in the spring She has returned even better in the autumn She was dominant over 1400m and the mile before justifying the $1.40 quote in the Vinery The Matt Laurie-trained filly didn’t look as comfortable on wet ground last start dulling her turn of foot yet her class saw her still hold a decisive margin It would have been a fascinating clash had Aeliana turned up here but that’s all hypotheticals now Treasurethe Moment should be too good for the rivals that line up against her Belle Detelle brings some ‘X-factor’ backing up from the Adrian Knox where she relished 2000m Her last 200m was the second quickest of the entire meeting She is a close relation to Verry Elleegant Verona Rose was working home strongly in the Vinery suggesting 2400m suits now That was the first time she had tasted defeat having won the Kembla Grange Classic the start prior Leica Lucy won the NZ Oaks seventh up in her first campaign Circle Of Fire is back to defend his Sydney Cup title but the dominance of that two-mile win a year ago shouldn’t be underestimated He wasn’t going as well in the spring yet managed to run sixth in a Melbourne Cup with 54.5kg This has been his autumn grand final and Ciaron Maher has the five-year-old where he needs him Chris Waller has won the Sydney Cup five times with four of those winners coming through the Chairmans The champion trainer has seven runners but 18 He looks to be ticking over perfectly clocking the fastest closing splits in the Chairmans behind Alalcance Has a 5.5 length margin to turnaround but gives the impression he’ll relish two miles Alalcance gapped her rivals in the Manion and the Chairmans and drops to 52kg The way she busts up a field at the top of the straight will ensure she needs to run a strong two miles That’s the only knock in the context of her price Via Sistina has won at an odds-on quote in her last three wins Her main dangers face the task of giving her a head start and chasing her down It was fourth up over the spring that she produced the eight-length Cox Plate win While she’s unlikely to repeat anything like that ever again Chris Waller looks to have the seven-year-old exactly where he wants her She only won the Turnbull by a narrow margin before that Cox Plate win winning the Ranvet by 1.5 lengths at $1.22 Via Sistina looks to have the locals covered The globetrotting gelding has won three from three in Australia for William Haggas and jockey Tom Marquand adding a Tancred to his Queen Elizabeth and Ranvet It’s not an ideal set-up back from 2400m on a soft track to 2000m on a good track on an 11-day turnaround but his six starts since then have been at the top level Fangirl hasn’t raced against her own sex since contesting this race as a three-year-old back in 2022 The Chris Waller-trained mare won the Apollo Stakes first up at Randwick before stablemate Via Sistina turned the tables in the Verry Elleegant The barrier and track pattern were against in the George Ryder where she produced on the of runs of the day to be beaten in a photo finish by Gringotts Fangirl loves Randwick (20:7-4-3) and loves dry tracks James McDonald has ridden Fangirl a dozen times boasting a record of 12:6-2-2 Atishu should have won this race last year having been held up behind Zougotcha The challenge is having to overcome a more talented stablemate in Fangirl That performance was on the back of a third in the Australian Cup Her Empire Rose win in the spring was coming back from 2000m too It’s been a good formula for her in the past to produce her best Stefi Magnetica bounced back to her best form winning the Doncaster She backed up over the spring in the Cantala when fourth up and was excellent behind Mr Brightside 5.Commemorative returns to the Randwick 1200m She produced a career best when winning over this track and trip two starts ago mowing down her rivals to win the Wenona Girl That saw James Cummings run her in the group 1 Galaxy with 51kg on her back She was truck loaded in betting to start $3.70 and had she got the splits when she needed them Commemorative drops back to fillies and mares company Only has to hold her form to be in the finish again Olentia should be able to cope with a drop back to 1200m after a four-week freshen up She had her chance in the Coolmore last start but it was a fast race won by Lady Shenandoah Four of her seven wins have come over the sprint trip Infancy was unlucky on occasions last campaign before her form tapered off Three trials suggests that she is ready first up Supplied by Racing NSWFull form and race replays available at racingnsw.com.au Matcha Latte hasn\\u2019t seen much of the racetrack in the past few years
