Bidding opened at $14.6 million, with mostly $100,000 bids in front of a curious crowd of almost 100 in the living room with splendid water views, until it sold. BresicWhitney’s Anna Chen declined to share the reserve but said the vendor was thrilled with the final result. Records show the house was last traded for $11.3 million in 2020. “Like I said to all the purchasers and the buyers … it is a King of Seaforth, one of a kind you wouldn’t be able to regulate today,” Chen said, referring to the council’s floor space ratio requirements. The property has an internal size of 1100 square metres on a 1600 square metre block. The buyer is a lower north shore family who will live in the home, while the vendors are moving out of the area. BresicWhitney’s chief executive officer and auctioneer Thomas McGlynn said, despite the market being considered a buyer’s market, “for quality real estate there is still really strong buyer interest”. From there, $50,000 bids took it past the $3 million reserve, until it sold under the hammer. A family from Kellyville bought the home, while the vendor plans to downsize. Records indicate that it last changed hands for $129,000 in 1983. AMP’s chief economist Shane Oliver said Sydney’s clearance rate of 63.9 per cent was soft for this time of year. Oliver noted seeing a big pick-up in listings compared to a year ago, which could be evidence of distressed selling. “At the same time, buyer demand is a little bit subdued by the ongoing high level of interest rates, which is resulting in relatively soft auction clearance rates.” Oliver expects the market to remain soft until interest rates start to come down. “It’s possible we can get a cut in December, but the more likely scenario seems [to be] in February next year for the first cut.” The information on this website is intended to be of a general nature only and doesn't consider your objectives, financial situation or needs. where we are privileged to live and operate but never slept in itKathryn Welling Seaforth is for sale in an expressions of interest campaign with a guide of $6.75m Lawyer Nigel Russell has a confession to make He and his wife Thuy have owned a Seaforth waterfront home for four years but never slept in it They’ve enjoyed wine and cheese from their private deepwater berth, renovated inside and even had plans approved for a lift to be installed inside their five-bedroom home at 15 Bligh Crescent But they haven’t got around to moving in and now they think they never will “We loved the idea of living on a waterfront but we travel overseas a lot and we’ve decided to stay in the eastern suburbs,” he said Lend Lease boss sells after 229 days The owners have spent some lovely afternoons beside the water So having bought the light and airy home for $6.125m in 2021 they have now listed the cul-de-sac home by expressions of interest with a guide of $6.75m they have rented out the home for $3600 a week “We’ve spent some lovely afternoons beside the water it is so private with such a sense of air and space and the house has lots of glass towards the water bringing in the views,” he said Bligh Cres is a short no-through road that hugs the foreshore of Middle Harbour where most of the two dozen properties have boatsheds MORE: Real reason Hemsworths moved to Byron Bay There’s lots of glass towards the water bringing in the views Glen Wirth of LJ Hooker Seaforth said the house had an oversized boatshed “It offers the ultimate waterfront lifestyle,” he said sailing with the kids or setting off on your cruiser moored in your own marina berth.” The home is built in full brick and concrete the main bedroom has a spa ensuite and a walk-in wardrobe a large granite kitchen and an infinity pool MORE: Lewis Hamilton’s secret $250m empire exposed In a statement, Mitch Thompson said he'll continue making music under the Seaforth name. Calhoun added a newspaper article in the 1940s said the remaining pieces were discarded in an "out of the way corner" in Hastings Park That area used to have a ravine that was eventually filled in when the military took over the park in 1942 "We think that they pushed them all into a ravine and just buried them.” Calhoun said it's an incredibly exciting find He said an officer was "gobsmacked" that construction could unearth these items buried in metres of dirt while also wondering why the items weren't taken to the Seaforth Armoury building Put yourself in the position of somebody in World War Two Now we're at the point that it's magical." Calhoun said there could be as many as nine more artillery pieces buried and at least 10 machine guns but the piece he's hoping for is a 210-millimetre Morser that used to sit at the entrance of Stanley Park where it was the most-photographed captured gun in Vancouver.  “We think that might be buried in the ravine at the PNE so we’re very excited about going in to look for it.” Geordie Howe is an archeologist with the Vancouver Park Board In his close to 50 years as an archeologist he said getting the phone call about this was not one of his normal days.  played at the PNE for all the years I’ve been around here as a young boy Sign up for free account today and start receiving our exclusive newsletters Dialogue and debate are integral to a free society and we welcome and encourage you to share your views on the issues of the day. She wrote about it a bit on Instagram when she thanked fans for joining her in saying goodbye to Bill and Doug. “For all of you who have joined me in spirit through the days of Billy’s passing and Doug’s memorial on Days of Our Lives, I thank you,” she wrote. “It was a privilege to share my joy in his life with so many via television. Our Corday Family honored us with a particular love story that began 54 years ago in front of a television camera and ended there, too. How amazing!” “My darling was a steadfast, inspiring father to five children. He helped build a hospital in Africa, starred on Broadway for Rodgers and Hammerstein, conducted choirs… and I could never tell you the half of it. He held me up with love so true. That’s all that keeps me or Julie standing now… recalling those glorious yesterdays and looking forward to more tomorrows.” A post shared by Bill & Susan Hayes (@billsusanhayes) There’s so much we’ve learned about both Bill Hayes and Doug over the past couple days, from Susan’s touching post to Julie’s beautiful eulogy that wove Doug’s history right into his portrayer’s So whether we see more familiar faces pop up down the road or meet more family members of Doug Julie or beloved Salemites from years past we’ll take a page out of Seaforth Hayes’ book and bask in “those glorious yesterdays” as we look forward to the tomorrows yet to come Take a moment before going, to explore the expansive family tree of Salem’s beloved Hortons in our photo gallery below.  The lavish harbourside home in Seaforth, Sydney, has five stories spread over a whopping 1,600 square metres of floor space – over four times the size of the average Aussie home.  With its own jetty, two yacht berths, and a commercial-sized internal lift, nothing has been forgotten in this extravagant family home.  The listing describes the property as “a rarity that would be impossible to recreate under today’s construction parameters.”  “With five levels embracing a Sydney Harbour cliff face, it’s defined by signature curves, a striking sculptural staircase, and luxurious infinity pool,” reads the listing.  Each of the six bedrooms comes with its own high-end ensuite, and commands impressive views of the waterfront.  There is a home cinema, an indoor gym, a sauna, a billiard room, and a spa with harbour vistas.  Joe Hockey’s childhood home with harbour views sells for about $7.5m The most expensive sale in Australia is a Sydney waterfront knock-down job Outside, the infinity pool offers stunning views of the marina, and residents can also spend lazy afternoons in the sunny Japanese garden – accessible via a covered inclinator, to avoid those exhausting sets of stairs.  On rainy days, huge sheets of glass in all the main living areas allow you to stay connected to the outdoors.  “It invites you to take in the marine activity over the Spit to the marina opposite, and views to the ocean, for ever-changing scenes both day and night,” says the listing.  Anna Chen and Guido Scatizzi of BresicWhitney Lower North Shore are the agents in charge of this property.  The ad-free version is Life changed forever for Days of Our Lives’ Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie) and, indeed, all of the cast, when Bill Hayes passed away at 98, after over half a century as Salem’s beloved Doug Williams. Back in December, Doug was finally laid to rest, just one month short of the first anniversary of Hayes’ passing. On Sunday, January 12, at a time when Los Angeles itself was in mourning from the fires tearing through it, Seaforth Hayes marked her husband’s passing with a touching mix of life’s mundane continuation and the memories and love left behind by those we’ve lost. “Today is the first anniversary of Billy‘s passing,” she shared. “The sun came out and the winds decreased over sad Los Angeles. I made myself a poached egg- Billy‘s favorite breakfast. His light still shines on me and all who knew him, near and far. Lives end, stories finish… but the love they bring holds us all together, even through time itself. And what a light was Mr. Hayes.” A post shared by Bill & Susan Hayes (@billsusanhayes) “Beautifully put,” Deidre Hall (Marlena) wrote to her beloved friend whose husband Peter Reckell (Bo) worked with both of the Hayes for decades “Your love for each other has always been an inspiration We’re sure she’s not alone in drawing inspiration not just from the love the happy couple shared offscreen but also the one fans got to witness virtually everyday as it played out on Days of Our Lives It’s rare that we get to see such a joyous but their inspiration to do better and love better will guide us for the rest of our lives Remember the incredible Bill Hayes with our photo gallery full of tributes to the legendary performer below.  If you still have problems, try contacting us and we'll do what we can to help you. With the creation of a paramedic base in the Clinton fire hall in 2014, the county’s intention was to replace the existing Tuckersmith base with a new station in Seaforth. Though the county explored the base’s replacement in 2015, councillors opted not to move ahead with the move at that time. The relocation of the Tuckersmith base to Seaforth was recommended in the county’s 2024 update to its master plan, despite the county already focusing on creating a new ambulance base in Brussels. The county is considering a bay area for eight vehicles, a large crew room, a central medical equipment storage room, a training room, offices and a kitchen area as minimum requirements for any future base that’s moved forward. Optional considerations include further administration space and offices, a gym for country employees and space for other county departments to work out of the building. But members of council, including Coun. Bernie MacLellan, were quick to voice their opposition for moving ahead with the creation of a gym in any new base. “At this point, I’m more than happy to invest in things that are needed for the public’s benefit, and running an efficient EMS system is,” he said. “I would consider, at this point, the gym concept to be more of a luxury and not something that the overall taxpayer might be interested in supporting.” “We’re not saying no for gyms, but let’s prioritize that it’s ambulances,” he said. “Don’t waste time putting that in.” Though still in the early stages, the county is exploring the option of entering into a partnership with Huron East to share a site between that municipality’s fire department and county paramedics, though such a move would rely on the expansion of other bases, such as Bayfield and Zurich, as well as the construction of a new station in Brussels. If the Tuckersmith base was moved to Seaforth, it could improve ambulance response times, according to the report. Eight-minute response performance could increase by nearly 10 per cent in Huron East, as well as by nearly one per cent across all of Huron County. County staff estimated that a new paramedic base in Seaforth could cost anywhere from $8-10 million, though those estimates don’t include the cost of securing land for the station. transmission or republication strictly prohibited This website uses cookies to personalize your content (including ads), and allows us to analyze our traffic.
