Kelly Stafford defended Jordon Hudson after she faced criticism for interjecting during boyfriend Bill Belichick’s recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning
Amid the fallout from the 24-year-old’s interjection during boyfriend Bill Belichick’s April 27 interview with CBS Sunday Morning’s Tony Dokoupil
football WAG Kelly Stafford defended Jordon’s right to speak up
“I think it’s fair game both ways,” she said during the May 1 episode of her podcast The Morning After
Kelly—who wed NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford in 2015—agreed when her cohost Hank Winchester deemed the former cheerleader’s remark “unacceptable” and suggested that the couple should have expected the line of questioning given their increased public profile
“You never really saw him much in the social media platform stuff,” Kelly observed
“I do think there is a little bit of responsibility for her knowing that questions are going to be asked
because they are so public with their relationship.”
Days after the interview, Bill—who is 49 years Jordon’s senior—said in a statement to E! News that his “expectation” for the interview to focus on his new memoir “was not honored,” despite his efforts to steer the conversation back to the book
with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship
stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion,” the former New England Patriots coach
said in the April 30 statement released through the University of North Carolina where he now works
“She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track.”
insisting it was promised “a wide-ranging interview” with the sports legend prior to the sitdown
“There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation,” the broadcaster said in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter)
“This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”
"That's really the only time when age seems to be shoved in my face and I have to give an answer for it
I don't really think about it that much otherwise."And Heidi—who married Tom the following year—made it clear she's going to continue living life on her terms."You have to just live a happy life without worrying too much about what people think," the supermodel continued
"because worrying is only going to give you more wrinkles."
"I find it really amazing when you flip it and the guy is older
no one cares and actually people like it."
Sam Taylor-Johnson & Aaron Taylor-Johnson
And it comes up on the outside perspective of people who don’t know us
because I guess people will always...We’re a bit of an anomaly
but it’s that thing: After 14 years you just think
surely by now it doesn’t really matter?”Sam even pointed out her relationship with Aaron has lasted longer than her marriage to her ex-husband Jay Jopling
who is about four years older than she is."So
if you think of it in that way," she continued
"then the age gap doesn’t really make any difference.”
Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones
it wouldn’t be normal if there weren’t any ups and downs
"We've never related to someone in my life better than we do
And we just couldn't be happier."
'This older man wants some young bimbo with no opinions whatsoever
And then that younger woman is obviously a gold digger
and she obviously doesn't even care and is just like OK
I hope you die and I'm gonna take all your money.'"However
she's since had a change of heart."Now that I'm in that relationship and people will say those things about me regularly
Why was I so judgmental about other people who are literally just finding love?'" she added
"And maybe their love looks different from you
but it doesn't make it not valid."
"But I knew that this was an incredibly special person.”
The Alfie actress and the Lift actor know not everyone understands their relationship. “I would imagine it would be complicated for anyone to get their head around," Oli put it to Vogue while referencing their 15-year age gap
"but there’s been nothing but love and joy.” And frankly
Sienna suggested nobody else needs to understand it.“I don’t think you can legislate on matters of the heart," she added
"I certainly have never been able to."
The Jurassic Park star recalled a lighthearted moment with his Olympian wife, who is 30 years his junior."I said, 'Which Beatle would I be if I was one of the Beatles?'" he remembered on The Hoda Show
I think you're thinking of that.'"However
Jeff noted it didn't take Emilie long to realize she meant George Harrison
"So there's that kind of thing," he noted of the couple's age gap
But other than their differing cultural touchpoints
life together is "so far so good."
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley & Jason Statham
The model also doesn't feel the need to deliver a fast and furious response to any critics of her 20-year age gap with the actor."His knowledge and strength are really inspiring and attractive, and that can come with a man who's had a bit of time," she told Glamour in 2013
"We have a connection that has nothing to do with age
but if you have someone at home who thinks you're the greatest person in the world
As for how the American Idol alum feels about any judgment towards her nearly 35-year age gap with the composer? Probably so over it."I totally get the judgment initially, but things are never as they appear," Katharine said on Dr. Berlin's Informed Pregnancy Podcast in 2023
"And I'm in love with our love story
and that's all that matters is that I'm in love with the love story."
“It’s not something that I ever thought would ever happen
you know I thought 30-year-olds were too young for me.” And while Kristin said she understands how “it looks to the outside world,” she insisted Mark is “not a typical 24-year-old” and that there’s more to a person than their birth year
“I really think age is just a number,” she continued
“It’s what you’ve been through in your life
There are just so many factors that go into maturity other than age.”But months later
“I just know long-term he needs to experience life,” she said on an October episode of her podcast
I started to feel the age a bit just with life experience
I look back when I was 24 and how much life has happened for me in between then
This is when you find yourself and he needs to be able to do that.”Still
she called their romance "the best relationship" of her life and expressed hope that Mark will realize their split was for the best."I know that one day he will look back and he will understand it," she added
"and I actually think one day he will thank me."
When the Oscar winner first started crushing on the barrister, he wasn't sure she'd feel the same way.“I liked her, but I didn’t want to jump the shark on it,” George said on The Howard Stern Show about his early romance with Amal
‘Cause I’m 17 years older than her so she might’ve thought I was grandpa.”However
it turns out she liked him right back and they wed in 2014
Age is only a number for the Bachelor alum, who is 18 years older than his wife. As he put it during a March 2025 episode of his The Viall Files podcast
Kelly Stafford is telling Bill Belichick and new girlfriend Jordon Hudson that they got what they asked for
"[The couple being asked questions] is fair game," the wife of Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford recently said on her The Morning After podcast.
SIGN UP for The Daily OutKick. New Look, Same Attitude.
The only problem is, the two of them aren't seeing it that way, despite the rest of the sports world and fans realizing what's happening. To make matters even worse, Hudson has now put a massive amount of attention on herself after her constant objections to an interviewer's questions during a recent CBS Sunday Morning interview
Kelly Stafford says that Bill and Jordon need to get with the times and realize that this is how life will be for the foreseeable future.
you never really saw him much in the social media platform stuff and now he’s everywhere with her," Stafford began
"So I do think there is a little bit of responsibility in knowing that
for her knowing that questions are going to be asked because they are so public with their relationship," the 35-year-old continued
If she doesn’t want to talk about it
then they don’t have to talk about it… This whole thing is very interesting to me."
You're not the only one, Kelly, as even Charles Barkley has been asking WTF is going on
And you can be sure that Bill's new job as head coach at UNC has some people there concerned about the coach they signed for a five-year
who would barely even acknowledge the media
let alone speak with them throughout the years.
Belichick is embarking on a book tour - the last thing that Patriots fans or those that knew him thought he would ever do.
As a result of Bill's strange and awkward new life, the media and fans are looking at what could possibly have made the 73-year-old suddenly change his entire persona and demeanor
In many people's eyes
it's Jordon pulling the strings and perhaps even taking advantage of Bill
who is too blind to apparently notice that this scenario has been seen and told a thousand times throughout the years.
I hate to break it to Jordon (actually, I don't really care either way) but much of Bill's criticism comes because of her. Whether it's her insistence on being included on Bill's emails with UNC
things are only going to get more scrutinized and uncomfortable for the couple as football season gets closer
And God help the two of them if Bill starts losing some games early in the season
because the fanbase and media will have no sympathy for him or his girlfriend
we're talking about 8x Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick here
Maybe we have to refer to him as Jordon's lapdog.

Lanier stepped into the role of Summer in 2022
taking over for previous portrayer Hunter King
and earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2024
She announced her departure on X (previously Twitter) just a couple of days before her final episode aired and Summer flew off to Europe
“You are an extraordinary actress,” Stafford added
I have no doubt we will be seeing you on the screen sooner than later
Thank you for inhabiting the character so thoroughly
I truly felt like I had a real daughter in you
Back in 2023, just over a year after joining the cast of Y&R, it was clear that Lanier had made quite the favorable impression on her on-screen mother. “She came into this story when Phyllis and Summer were at odds,” Stafford told Soap Opera Digest at the time
“Phyllis was spouting off all of these speeches to Summer about this
and the other thing and I think it was a daunting task for Allison because it was just a lot for her to jump into
Everybody here really likes her because she’s so sweet and very professional
“Allison has been working every day and giving long speeches

“She really has a grasp on Summer and made the character her own

The Rams have Matthew Stafford back for this season
The Rams don’t have a heir apparent on the roster
But they do have two first-round picks for 2026
having acquired the Falcons’ top selection for next year
That gives them ammunition to trade up for a quarterback in 2026
is hoping for at least two more years out of Stafford
“We have a chance with him every time he’s at the switch, and love working with him,” McVay told Adam Schein on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio. “And I think he can play as long as he wants, but fortunately, I’m hoping it’s a couple more years.”
Stafford agreed to a revised contract this offseason to stay in Los Angeles after being given permission to seek a trade
The Raiders and the Giants showed interest
“When you’re able to have real conversations with people you love and care about
“And there is no question in my mind that he and I are closer than ever
There’s a lot of appreciation; there’s a lot of gratitude that we were able to work through some of those things
I heard [General Manager] Les [Snead] say it
And I think there is kind of a renewal of appreciation for the opportunity to continue to work together
It doesn’t go lost on me how fortunate I am to be able to work with somebody as special as he is
and more importantly what he means with how he moves as a man
and how he positively affects and influences his teammates and people he’s around.”
He is 19-12 as a starter the past two seasons
completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 7,727 yards with 44 touchdowns and 19 interceptions
“I think he came out of this season feeling really good physically,” McVay said
“And one of the things that I think is a tremendous credit to him
you look at [those] playoff games that he’s played in with us
he did everything in his power to try to will us to a victory against an excellent Detroit football team in ’23
and he does his thing against Philadelphia.”

The Athletic's Jeff Howe and others have mentioned how the Los Angeles Rams' acquiring an extra 2026 first-round pick during this year's draft could allow the club to grab a replacement for starting quarterback Matthew Stafford next spring
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio
Rams head coach Sean McVay suggested he's not yet thinking about who will take Stafford's place and when
"We have a chance with him every time he's at the switch, and love working with him. And I think he can play as long as he wants, but fortunately, I'm hoping it's a couple more years," McVay said about Stafford, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com
"When you're able to have real conversations with people you love and care about
or you can get closer," McVay said about chats he had with Stafford before the veteran put pen to paper on his agreement
"And there is no question in my mind that he and I are closer than ever
there's a lot of gratitude that we were able to work through some of those things
...It doesn't go lost on me how fortunate I am to be able to work with somebody as special as he is
and how he positively affects and influences his teammates and people he's around."
next year's draft could be responsible for what becomes an excellent quarterback class
While McVay added that Stafford "came out of this (past) season feeling really good physically," the one-time Super Bowl champion turns 38 next winter
Stafford may play "a couple more years" before he retires
but the upcoming campaign could be his last as a member of the Rams

He is also a football and futbol aficionado who is probably yelling about Tottenham Hotspur at the moment and who chanted for Matt Harvey to start the ninth inning of Game 5 of the 2015 World Series at Citi Field
customized to your favorite sports and teams
Matthew Stafford has been doing this for a long time
He hasn't shown many signs of slowing down
The Rams quarterback still has a howitzer of a right arm and a brilliant football mind
could get the chance to mentor his eventual heir
That's what ESPN's Jordan Reid predicts in his early 2026 NFL mock draft
He has the Rams trading up with the Panthers to pick No
"Here's Matthew Stafford's heir apparent," Reid writes
"Stafford will turn 38 before the 2026 season
so this is a great spot for the Rams to pick Nussmeier
whose 79.1 QBR ranked 11th in the FBS in 2024
Nussmeier's arm is more flexible than powerful
and his anticipation skills result in some of the most exciting throws I've seen on tape
Interceptions are an issue -- he threw multiple picks in four games last season -- but he could be a first-round pick if he cleans those up."
Nussmeier has been floated by some as an early possibility for the No
If he ends up lasting to the Rams in this spot
Stafford could stick around for at least another year to teach Nussmeier
and then the handoff of power could happen to keep the Rams on a positive quarterback path

Sports reporting work has also appeared in a number of newspapers
including the Sandusky Register and Rochester Democrat & Chronicle
They’ve developed a culture and roster that has opened up their window wide to win now thanks to the drafting of Les Snead and the trust in the young talent his team possesses
This year’s Rams have just the right mixture of youth and veteran talent at key positions to suggest a potential run at the Lombardi Trophy out of the NFC in 2025
The conference has become one filled with brimming talent across the board and Los Angeles is considered close to or at the forefront of contention
there is one small issue I have with how the Rams approached the offseason: they did not find a potential successor or developmental talent to grow behind veteran franchise signal-caller Matthew Stafford
Two months ago, I wrote about why the Rams should invest in a young backup quarterback
I had mentioned that Stafford was close to heading off for a new franchise had his contract situation not been resolved
it was the right time to draft a developmental quarterback to be mentored by the Super Bowl champion signal-caller
the Rams never looked in that direction with any of their draft selections
it’s not a significant concern as the team is prepared for another run for not just the postseason but a trip to Santa Clara next February
I can understand why Snead and McVay chose to stick with what they currently have due to the lack of talent in this year’s quarterback class
Trading back with the Atlanta Falcons and acquiring another first round draft choice helps with their chances next year of moving up for a quality QB prospect
especially when next year’s group looks much more enticing
Irrelevant can become a Pro Bowl passer and lead his team to the brink of a Super Bowl title
drafting a quarterback to be coached by McVay
even if he doesn’t become a long-term starter
should’ve been on the priority list for the Rams
Not addressing the issue is risky but it shows the confidence the team has in Stafford’s ability to continue playing at a high level
I’m of the belief that NFL teams should draft a quarterback every year
no matter their situation and the Rams apply here
it doesn’t ease the feeling of not having a Jaxon Dart or Jalen Milroe to develop behind Stafford and Garoppolo
we must trust the process that Los Angeles has turned into success in recent years
The future of the franchise at quarterback will come
but the risk of not taking even a developmental talent this year remains

An ‘other change’ development application has been lodged for multiple dwellings
located at 100-106 Webster Road and 1-5 Theodore Street
Designed by AGA Architects
accommodating a total of sixty (60) 2-3 bedroom apartments
The design includes a mix of facade materials
form and bulk positioned on the streetscape to integrate with the character of the area
The communal recreation area is positioned in the middle of the buildings
The site is made up of 6 residential allotments that front Webster Road
The redevelopment seeks to remove all dwellings
structures and vegetation to facilitate the new residential buildings
The proposal has 63 car parking spaces (117 resident spaces and 15 visitors)
with vehicle access to Shore Street East and separate pedestrian access to the building lobby
The planners at Mewing Planning Consultants state “The Shaping SEQ 2023 Regional Plan
encourages an increase in “gentle density” across South East Queensland
Gentle density anticipates the colocation and construction of low rise to low-medium rise development between 1-3 storeys and allows for some increase in density and scale without overwhelming the existing fabric
The recognition that gentle density includes development up to three (3) storeys and does not result in a scale that is overwhelming within the existing urban fabric”
The proposed development includes 2,390.13sqm (59.49%) of site cover over the 4,023sqm development site

Matthew Stafford's future with the Rams may be in doubt
Just a few years after bringing a Super Bowl title to Los Angeles
there have been rumors about the 37-year-old quarterback not seeing eye-to-eye with the Rams on his contract situation
new reports only added fuel to the speculation that the Rams could opt to trade Stafford this offseason
Here's the latest on a potential Stafford trade
plus the details to know about his contract situation and Los Angeles' quarterback room
MORE: Bold predictions for NFL offseason trades
Now that the 2024 season has come and gone
there have already been rumors about the Rams and Stafford again not agreeing on his contract value
On Saturday, Stafford's agent received permission to speak with other teams about his value for a potential contract extension, Pelissero reported
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added further clarity to the report
detailing that Stafford did not request a trade
the quarterback's agent is allowed to speak with other NFL teams about his value
a decision that was made in hopes of the Rams and Stafford getting a "better understanding" of his market
By allowing Stafford to engage with the market but not committing to a trade
Los Angeles can still look to bring its veteran quarterback back for the 2025 season
there are no official indications that the Rams will trade Stafford
20 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season while leading his squad to the NFC West title
But should Los Angeles show a willingness to move on from its veteran quarterback
there would surely be some interest expressed by other quarterback-needy teams
Stafford's 2022 deal with the Rams was worth $160 million over four years
His re-worked contract in 2024 included a $12.5 million signing bonus
$23.5 million guaranteed this past season and a $4 million guaranteed March roster bonus
Whether it's as a Ram or a member of another team
Stafford has two seasons remaining on his current deal
Here's the breakdown of Stafford's remaining contract, according to Spotrac:
Stafford has been the starting quarterback for Los Angeles since he was swapped for Jared Goff in a 2021 trade with the Lions
If the Rams move on from him this offseason
they wouldn't have very reliable internal options to replace him
At this stage in his career, there aren't many indications that Garoppolo, 33, can be a full-time starter again. He had 334 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception in his only game appearance in 2024, a Week 18 matchup in which the Rams rested their starters. If the Rams bring Garoppolo back in free agency, it could either be as a backup or as a replacement for Stafford.
Bennett, however, is under contract with the Rams through the 2026 season on his rookie deal. He has yet to appear in an NFL game after being drafted by Los Angeles in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Considering the former Georgia Bulldog has yet to hit the gridiron, it would seem unlikely the defending NFC West champions would name Bennett their starter in 2025 if Stafford is traded.
If Los Angeles moves on from Stafford, it would seem most likely that Sean McVay brings in another veteran quarterback at a cheaper price, such as Aaron Rodgers, or takes a swing on a young passer in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Daniel Mader joined Sporting News as an editorial intern in 2024 following his graduation from Penn State University. Previously, he covered Penn State, high school and local sports beats for NBC Sports, the Centre Daily Times, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The Daily Collegian and LancasterOnline. He grew up in Lancaster, Penn., with a love for baseball that’ll never fade, but could also talk basketball or football for days.
Stafford won the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 but had his second season cut short thanks to a spinal cord contusion and a concussion
Matthew Stafford’s career has had many turns since he was traded from the Detroit Lions at the end of the 2020 season
Stafford returned to lead the Rams to back-to-back playoff appearances
but his future was uncertain heading into this offseason
A skiing trip with Tom Brady wasn’t enough for Stafford to leave Los Angeles and he’s now preparing for his 17th season in the NFL
With the years mounting up and Stafford turning 37 last February
1 overall pick in the 2009 draft will hang up the cleats
But Stafford’s new contract with the Rams reveals a distinct plan and could tell us how much gas is left in the tank
Stafford revised his contract after a brief window where both sides agreed to let him seek out a new team in March. According to Over The Cap
$80 million contract that begins next season and includes $56 million in guaranteed money
it’s a $26 million raise from his previous contract and the Rams have spread out the deal over three void years
giving Los Angeles $8 million in cap space
The deal buys time for the Rams to find Stafford’s successor and it makes sense considering how their 2025 draft panned out
Los Angeles did not select a quarterback in what was considered to be a weak quarterback class and added an extra first-round pick in 2026 after a trade with the Atlanta Falcons
The extra capital is key for Los Angeles as they could move up in the draft to select Texas’s Arch Manning
UCLA’s Nico Iamaleava or South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers if they declare for next year’s draft
Stafford could remain the starter for the next two seasons and allow whichever quarterback they decide to take a “redshirt year” before taking over in 2027
Regardless of the Rams long-term plans, it allows Stafford to build on a Hall of Fame caliber career. The Georgia product spent 12 seasons in Detroit before spending the last four with the Rams and ranks 10th all-time with 59,809 passing yards and 377 touchdowns. Although his relationship with Detroit has soured
it’s interesting to see how long he’ll continue playing and whether the Rams’ long-term plans for a quarterback will come to fruition

there's a need for deeper-league managers to stream at the position
plus some unfamiliar names who should see their roles expand in Week 9
With the 49ers on a bye this week, I also have two quarterbacks for Brock Purdy managers to look at
Let's find some streamers to get in the lineup
Players listed below are deeper-league targets, rostered in less than 50% of ESPN leagues entering this week's waiver period. Although you might notice overlap with Eric Moody's waiver wire column that publishes Mondays
an important distinction is that the options mentioned in this column are solely for this week's matchups and not based on the players' values for the remainder of the season
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams (28.8% rostered; at Seahawks)
but it is not believed to be serious.) In Week 8
Stafford dropped a season-high 24.76 points on the Vikings defense
throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns
while finding both Nacua and Kupp in isolation matchups
Bo Nix, Denver Broncos (55.9% rostered; at Ravens)
and he took advantage of a favorable matchup versus Carolina
Nix tossed three touchdown passes in that win over the Panthers
The rookie has now thrown multiple touchdown passes
And with his dual-threat ability (five or more carries in seven of eight games)
Nix can be started again this Sunday versus a Ravens defense that is allowing a league-high 291.4 passing yards per game
Cedric Tillman is a new name on the fantasy radar after huge Week 8. Lauren Leigh Bacho/Getty ImagesCedric Tillman, Cleveland Browns (45.7% rostered; vs
Tillman might be scooped up quickly this week on waivers after he had 28.9 points in the win over the Ravens. With Jameis Winston at quarterback
Tillman caught seven of nine targets for 99 yards with two touchdowns
who has scored at least 18 points in his last two games
gets a tougher matchup this week versus the Chargers defense
plus his ability to work the middle of the field on in-breakers
Elijah Moore
Moore is another available option who has scored 10 or more points in his last two games
Moore caught eight of a team-high 12 targets in the Week 8 win over the Ravens
Moore will see a much stingier defense against L.A
but with 18 targets over his last two games
Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (36.8% rostered; at Chiefs)
You can play McMillan as a deeper-league flex for the Week 9 matchup versus Kansas City
Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers (30.9% rostered; vs
With the Panthers trading Diontae Johnson to the Ravens
Legette should see his role increase in the Carolina route tree
Legette has logged 14 targets over his past three games
And he gets a matchup this week versus a Saints defense that ranks in the bottom 10 versus opposing wide receivers
Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars (3.2% rostered; at Eagles)
Need a boom-or-bust candidate for your critical fantasy football matchup
with help from AI-generated insights built with IBM watsonx
CeeDee Lamb is coming off season highs in targets
receptions and yards and gets a good matchup with the Falcons in Week 9
His high-end boom projection of 29.1 FPTS is the highest of any player
Kyler Murray has put up 20+ FPTS in back-to-back games
but the Bears defense has largely shut down opposing quarterbacks this season (last week's Hail Mary notwithstanding)
Murray has just a 13% chance to boom this week
De'Von Achane has seen a significant target share with Tua Tagovailoa under center this season
Achane's low-end bust projection 15.9 is the highest of any player in Week 9
Courtland Sutton reached the 100-yard mark last week against the Panthers and now faces a pass-funnel defense in the Ravens
Sutton's 29% boom chance is the highest of any wide receiver this week
The Chiefs have done a good job of limiting running back scoring in 2024. Rachaad White has a 28% bust chance
Ray Davis, Buffalo Bills (14.3% rostered; vs
Davis is a potential deeper-league flier this week versus Miami. This past Sunday, Davis saw six carries for 29 yards in the win over Seattle, and he rushed for 41 yards, plus a touchdown, in the Week 7 game against Tennessee. James Cook is clearly the lead back for the Bills
but Davis can give you six-to-eight touches as a rotational player on an offense that will score points
Grant Calcaterra, Philadelphia Eagles (1.2% rostered; vs
With Dallas Goedert (hamstring) still out
he caught all three of his targets for 58 yards in the win over Cincinnati

The Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford agreed to stick together for at least another year
but head coach Sean McVay said he hopes the partnership continues for longer than that
McVay told Adam Schein on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio this week that Stafford "he can play as long as he wants
McVay went on to describe their relationship
which he said has only grown stronger since the two started having "real conversations."
And there is no question in my mind that he and I are closer than ever
"I heard [general manager] Les [Snead] say it
The Rams have certainly enjoyed Stafford under center since the team traded for him in 2021
They won a Super Bowl in their first year together and have won at least 10 games in three of the four years together
there is a certain level of urgency with Stafford turning 37
The Rams' 2025 offseason moves skewed toward adding offensive pieces
like replacing Cooper Kupp with Davante Adams
keeping Alaric Jackson and Tutu Atwell and drafting tight end Terrance Ferguson in the second round
But it all starts with Stafford under center
(This story has been updated to reflect new information)
Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams agreed to a revised contract back in February
ensuring that the two sides would continue their partnership for at least another year
While the contract was agreed to two months ago
It appears to be finally done because the finer details of his reworked deal have emerged. According to Over The Cap
Stafford got a $17 million raise for the 2025 season
raising his cash payout from $27 million to $44 million
Despite the Rams giving Stafford more money this year
they actually managed to lower his cap hit from $49.67 million to $40.97 million
That was done with the addition of five void years onto the end of the contract from 2027-2031
Update (5/1): Over The Cap has revised its breakdown to reflect a cap savings of $2.2 million instead of $8.7 million
His updated cap hit in 2025 is $47.47 million
Over The Cap notes that his new contract has $40 million in guarantees and comes with a total raise of $26 million
Stafford has multiple option bonuses worth up to $24 million in 2025 and 2026
Stafford is effectively making $46.5 million per year
which would put him 11th among all quarterbacks in annual salary
just behind Jalen Hurts ($51 million) and slightly ahead of Kyler Murray ($46.1 million)
Stafford chose to remain with the Rams for at least another year
Stafford said he "never really wanted to leave" the Rams and is thankful they were able to work something out
continuing their pursuit of another Super Bowl in L.A
The touchdown was Williams' 16th of the season, 14 rushing and two receiving. He has 14 of the Rams' 15 rushing touchdowns this season (93%). According to ESPN Research, that would be the highest percentage of a team's rushing touchdowns in a season since Josh Jacobs scored all 12 of the Raiders' rushing touchdowns in 2022

The contract wasn’t finalized for months so it was unclear how his revised deal would impact the salary cap. Now that it’s finally done
we have a better idea of where the Rams stand financially heading into the 2025 season
According to Over The Cap
Stafford’s 2025 cap charge is actually lower on his new deal than it was on his previous one
His cap number dropped from $49.67 million to $40.97 million
giving the Rams $8.7 million more in cap space to work with this year
the Rams are estimated to have $26.36 million in cap room
That’s before accounting for their 2025 draft class
Fortunately, Los Angeles doesn’t need much cap space to sign its rookie class. The Rams’ draft class will only take up $1.69 million in cap room
the Rams have about $24.67 million left to spend in 2025
but they have the financial flexibility to make a big move if they’d like
the Rams' current cap space is estimated to be $17.95 million

Matthew Stafford’s contract details finally came to light this week when Over The Cap reported the breakdown of his revised deal with the Los Angeles Rams
The new contract includes $40 million fully guaranteed and gives Stafford a $17 million raise in cash this year
Initially, Over The Cap reported that the Rams would be saving $8.7 million in cap space this year by lowering Stafford’s charge from $49.67 million to $40.97 million
Over The Cap updated its contract breakdown to match Spotrac’s
now listing Stafford’s 2025 cap hit as $47.47 million – a $2.2 million savings
Stafford’s 2026 cap hit has also been updated from $41.77 million to $48.27 million, a difference of $6.5 million. This is all likely due to Over The Cap getting the guaranteed money wrong, which Jason Fitzgerald acknowledged on social media; it was initially reported as $56 million instead of the correct $40 million
Below is a screenshot of the updated terms from OTC
With Stafford's accurate numbers now on the books
the Rams are estimated to have about $17.95 million in cap space after accounting for the incoming rookie class
That's still plenty of money to get a deal done for Jalen Ramsey or for Los Angeles to sign another free agent or two

Charles Stafford was reelected Saturday to Place 5 on the Denton ISD school board
He has served on the school board for 27 years
Denton school board incumbent Charles Stafford retained his spot in Place 5 on the Denton ISD Board of Trustees
He received 57% of the vote to challenger Phyliciá Anderson’s 43%
has served on the school board for 27 years
he amassed a deep roster of endorsements from former and current officeholders in Denton and surrounding cities
Anderson hadn’t returned a phone message seeking comment by late Saturday
Stafford said he is ready to return to his seat and roll up his sleeves to help steer Denton ISD through more growth and very recent actions in the 89th Texas Legislature
State lawmakers increased the basic allotment by $395 per student
far less than the $1,340 per student increase Texas educators asked for
The school board election fell just hours after Gov
Greg Abbott signed school vouchers into law
which many educators worry will recontour the state’s public school finances and divert public money to private and religious schools
which don’t have the same accountability to taxpayers
“I want to thank everybody that went out and voted,” Stafford said Saturday
He said he spent much of the day outside of North Branch Library
one of the polling places where residents cast ballots for the school board
“We talked to a lot of people today at the polls
although I wish there had been more participation
“And it was kind of reaffirming to have our community behave in a good way and do an do an election
Anderson identified mental health resources as a critical need in the district
while Stafford said shifting demographics in the state means the district will have to meet the needs of English language learners and students from low-income families
Retired Denton ISD principal Buddy Dunworth ran unopposed for Place 4 on the board
which is being vacated by longtime trustee Mia Price

returns to play "a couple more years" with the Los Angeles Rams
McVay talked about his hopes for Stafford's future while expressing his confidence in his relationship with the quarterback during a Thursday appearance on Sirius XM's Mad Dog Sports Radio
or you can get closer," the Rams head coach said
"And there is no question in my mind that he and I are closer than ever
that we were able to work through some of those things
I heard [general manager Les Snead] say it
"There is kind of a renewal of appreciation for the opportunity to continue to work together
It doesn't go lost on me how fortunate I am to be able to work with somebody as special as he is."
I'm hoping it's a couple more years."
28 that the team had agreed to a restructured contract with Stafford
The team allowed Stafford to test the trade market, where the quarterback reportedly received potential offers from the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported at the time that Stafford had taken "less than he would've gotten elsewhere" to remain with McVay and the Rams for a fifth season
This marks the second straight season during which the Rams have negotiated a new deal with Stafford
the team and Stafford didn't agree to terms until the end of July
Whether or not Stafford continues working out his contracts on a year-to-year basis going forward
it sounds like he can expect to keep McVay in his camp as he negotiates his next deal.
