The countess, born Mary Pamela McCorquodale, in 1932, was married to Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who was directly related to Queen Elizabeth II as the nephew of the Queen Mother who became the 17th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne in 1972 There, she was often visited by Queen Elizabeth and other royal visitors, including the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and the then Prince Charles A family statement, per The Courier recalled how she was a 'marvellous role model' to all around and was 'much loved' by her family and community It read: 'They lived in The White House, Glamis for some of their early married life and continued to visit frequently from East Lothian where they lived while Fergus worked as a stockbroker in Edinburgh.' The statement added that the family renovated the Castle from 1972 to 1975 when they moved in, 'throwing themselves into life on the estate and in the wider Angus community'.  'Your dedication to, and love of, Glamis has shone through at every level. 'You are a very much loved and important figure in the history of Glamis, not just to the staff but to the wider community.' According to Mary, Queen Elizabeth had a 'great affection' for Glamis and had created 'many happy memories' there.  During the late monarch's final visit, before her death in September 2022, the Countess explained they went on the golf buggy and went round the grounds for around an hour and a half.  Speaking of her lifelong friend and cousin, she said she believed the Queen knew it was her 'final visit' and had come to 'say goodbye'.   The Dowager Countess was born on May 31, 1932, at her grandparents' house in London to her father Norman and mother Barbara.  In September 1939, the family moved from Edinburgh to Buckinghamshire and, after the war, she moved to Paris to learn French before studying at Oxford.  She met her husband, Fergus, in 1955 and married the following April - with their wedding attended by the Queen, Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.  Following their marriage, the Countess had a 60-year association with Glamis, where she was loved and respected by many.  As well as a home for their three children - Michael, Elizabeth and Diane - she helped ensure Glamis became a popular tourist destination for people visiting Scotland.  Mary faced considerable hardship in her life, as her husband passed away in 1987, while her son Michael, died in 2016 aged 58.   She found solace in her hard work with charitable causes, including Multiple Sclerosis Society, Age Concern and Cancer Relief, and was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts in Scotland.  She also joined forces with the Day Care Committee for the Elderly, Nursing Benevolent Fund, Brittle Bone Society and Child Psychotherapy Trust.  She also worked closely with the local community, including a campaign to save the local post office in 2008 - a village staple used by the Queen Mother when she was staying in the Castle nearby.   Her home was also visited by political figures, including former Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major.  She also welcomed several American astronauts to the castle through a special relationship with NASA.  One instance showed the Countess display her sense of humour - when Air Force Colonel Alvin Drew called Glamis Castle, and had to leave a message on her answering machine.  She joked at the time that she was likely the 'only granny' who had ever received a call from outer space.  Mary leaves behind her two children, Lady Elizabeth Leeming and Lady Diana Godfrey-Faussett, as well as 11 grandchildren.  A service of thanksgiving in her memory is due to be held on May 16 at St Fergus Kirk in Glamis.   No one seems to have shared their thoughts on this topic yetLeave a comment so your voice will be heard first. {{message}} “I was at home, chatting with my eldest daughter Hannah when mid-sentence, I fell backwards,” Meg said. Hannah, 22, immediately called Triple Zero (000) and launched into cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), giving compressions to her mum for about six minutes before a Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crew arrived, soon followed by Ambulance Victoria (AV) crews. Younger daughter Abi, 17, was also home at the time and was able to tell the arriving emergency services what had happened and about her mum’s medical history. Paramedics delivered one shock with a defibrillator and the FRV crew continued CPR, and almost 30 minutes after the Triple Zero (000) call, Meg’s pulse returned. Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedics intubated Meg, allowing them to better manage her airway while she was rushed to hospital, still in a critical condition. Meg spent just six days in hospital, where she was fitted with a pacemaker before being discharged home. Now, just a few months later, she’s back at work and has almost no lasting effects. “I feel fantastic – I do rehab once a week and think I feel stronger now than I did beforehand,” Meg said. “The thing I’m most grateful for is that Hannah was so quick to start CPR, so I didn’t have oxygen starvation of my brain. “I’ve had no reduction of my faculties at all – once I woke up, I remember everything from my time in hospital and coming back to work, I’ve been able to keep up and haven’t forgotten how to do anything. “You bring kids into the world and you hope you can instill some kind of courage and bravery in them. “To actually see it come into action in this way from both my daughters is just phenomenal. “I’m lost for words at how much love and appreciation I have for these girls.” Meg was incredibly thankful to the paramedics, FRV crew and hospital staff who all played vital roles in her survival and recovery. “I’d also like to say a big thank you to my husband Tim, for his support of me and the girls,” Meg said. “He has been a great sounding board for us all as we have navigated back to normality.” platters – that’s never the way Greeks have eaten.” A couple with 30 years in the restaurant game are drawing people from all over town with homemade spanakopita and hand-picked vegies Remove items from your saved list to add more Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime ShareAs featured in the Melbourne March 2025 hit list. From edition: April 30 2025 Strathmore Times The Youth Theatre Company is taking audiences on a magical journey across the ocean in a giant peach with their first-ever musical production James and the Giant Peach the show is proving to be a milestone for the budding theatre group president of the association and one of the show’s producers “We knew we wanted to do a musical and then we came across this musical and adults and we really fell in love with the music this version has been reimagined with a local flair “The story itself is set in London originally but we’ve brought it over to Canada,” said Hall with a smile The ensemble cast of 25 ranging from young newcomers to seasoned teen performers has embraced the quirky personalities of the insect characters who join James on his adventure.  “Our cast has really dove into it and brought their own flair,” said Hall One of the production’s biggest challenges was to find space for the play Strathmore’s lack of a formal performance theatre meant the team had to get creative.  but we’ve had to scale things down,” said Hall figuring out how make the show elements work in the space we have.” The show marks a significant first: the group’s debut into musical theatre.  “This is our first musical as our own company and we’ve had to dive into so many aspects; musical direction “It’s been exciting and such a learning experience.” Guiding them through this adventure is Lynn Elkin a co-founder of the group and seasoned director.  so it was also a no-brainer to have her on board again.” Hall herself takes on the colourful role of Ladybug in addition to producing.  “And our costumes are so much fun – I’m really looking forward to dressing up like one.” At the heart of the story is James himself a Grade 7 student at George Freeman School Though this is only his second performance with the group having played Lemothy the Lemming in Alice in Winterland Fitzsimmons is taking center stage with confidence and excitement “My favourite part is whenever I get to show the audience what we’ve been working on all this time.” Fitzsimmons said.  He also gets to sing throughout the performance although he admits keeping track of all the lines and songs is a big challenge As Strathmore continues to grow as a hub for the arts productions like James and the Giant Peach highlight the passion and creativity thriving in the community.  “It would be amazing to one day have a community theatre space,” said Hall “It would definitely be a great addition to the town.” imagination and musical magic as the Youth Theatre Company of Strathmore take flight inside their not-so-giant peach Tickets can be purchased by visiting their website (www.youththeatrecompany.ca) We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Local Journalism Initiative The 2025 season is just around the corner so EDFL Media will be previewing each club heading into Round One we chat to Strathmore coach Nick Ash who provides some insights on their 2025 campaign "The connection piece with new players and coaches coming in and the building of relationships have been key focuses this pre-season The understanding of our game plan and the way we want to play has been the main area we have focused on throughout pre-season." "Having a strong junior program and being a club that likes to promote from within we have focused much of our so called 'recruiting' on bringing the next wave of Strathmore junior players through to the senior system." "We are really excited to see the players who are transitioning from our 2024 Under 18 premiership side taking the next step and becoming senior Strathmore players There are quite a lot of players who we believe will become household names of the EDFL in years to come." "As a club we've continued building strong relationships with all football sides at Strathmore and enjoying each other's achievements and company." "We want to continue the growth and development of all players on the list with a mindset of always wanting to learn and striving to get better." Player most likely to become a coach one day The silliest question is the one you don't ask Who’s one opposition player you’d love on your side What match are you most looking forward to in 2025 and why Looking forward to Round 1 as it kicks off the season after six months of no footy It was another deep finals run for the Mores in 2024 and despite some outgoing talent you'd expect them to be able to go again in 2025 Coach Nick Ash is keen to utilise graduating Under 18 players to fill the missing slots on top of typically minimal recruiting in terms of volume Former Port Adelaide ruck Sam Hayes is the big name coming in and fills the void in the ruck while returning junior Matty Allison will be a nice inclusion should Coburg VFL commitments allow It will be a different looking Mores outfit at times but you'd expect them to be pushing for the double chance Ladder Prediction: Double chance territory we chat to Strathmore coach Shaun Bannister who provides some insights on their 2025 campaign "We realised we needed a new injection of players to complement our strong core list already established We know we have an incredibly strong 'bottom-up' support structure in place We believe we’re on the right path in 2025 and beyond." "It's extremely tough to narrow it down to one or two players when the entire list has been so impressive I’d go with Elisha ‘Waino’ Wain for her unbelievable work ethic and leadership "We can feel the group forming that tight bond with every session we do especially during the tough sessions in the heat this summer We want to play a high-intensity style of footy with our girls going into each game believing if they’re at their best "Our core SFC players and our new arrivals continue to challenge each other for pivotal playing positions." Eloise Freeman and Amy Trindade (they could have my job by Round 5 if we’re not successful) Well we do have a ‘self nominated’ Brad Pitt look-a-like as our runner this season however he’s more entertaining than a pest I’ll back in our captain Clara Toperosa to get the nod Growing up in a household of brothers we were always super competitive Burnside Heights is coming off a very good 2024 season with Keilor Park recruiting well for 2025 Strathmore has been incredibly active this offseason as it looks to not just be competitive again but make a tilt at another Premier Division promotion Shaun Bannister has taken over as coach having coached the Under 18.5 side last year and will no doubt have an eye to the future as he builds the senior squad With some genuine star power entering the mix combined with continued development of their youth the Mores will be one to watch in the premiership race Strathmore are into the prelim after a hard-fought victory over Greenvale on Nena and Pasadena EDFL Match of the Day Strathmore coach Nick Ash joined the crew with player of the game Kyle Weightman Check out EDFL Podcasts in your browser or listen below There’s always a lot on the line in every Keilor and Strathmore contest but this one is even more important with a grand final spot on the line One of the biggest rivalries in the league it’s not a match up many people would have predicted for the preliminary final which adds to the intrigue Most people had Keilor as the team that would be the first team through to the grand final and the likely premier their last few weeks hadn’t been as good as early in the season but with only one loss for the year Pascoe Vale had other ideas in the semi final and became the first team through to the grand final The Panthers will play in their first EDFL Premier Division grand final If the Blues weren’t convincing on Saturday the Mores weren’t either on Sunday but did enough to get the win The Mores were given a shock in the first week of finals by Pascoe Vale It was a slightly better performance against Greenvale in the semi finals Nothing was easy as both teams struggled to hit the scoreboard for the first three and half quarters Class prevailed in the end to get the Mores through to another preliminary final Now this leaves the last two premiers to do battle for the second grand final spot Between them they’ve been awarded the past four premierships The Blues have won the head-to-head this season winning both games Good Friday was almost an identical result to last year’s grand final which the Blues dominated The second affair on a wet and cold day at Lebanon Reserve saw the Blues get over the line in a game they probably shouldn’t have won Can they find their mojo and get back to the football we know they can play or is this a sign they aren’t the unbeatable giant Coach Mick McGuane was anything but happy after the semi final performance Their connection wasn’t there and they didn’t make the most of their opportunities when they went forward The Mores haven’t been firing on all cylinders either which adds another layer to the game They have a couple more levels to take and are full of confidence according to star forward Kyle Weightman The Mores have added a number of players back into the mix in recent weeks after VFL and Coates Talent League seasons have ended Who lines up for each side will be one of the big factors in the game McGuane said there could be at least seven players back if everything goes to plan Nathan Colesno and Jovan Petric are set to return from VFL and Joseph Ciranna are others who weren’t out there on the weekend as well The Mores will welcome back Liam Cavanagh and Andrew Gallucci from suspension Cavanagh was outstanding last time the teams met in a best on ground performance The Blues still go in as favourites but there isn’t the same certainty there once was earlier in the season There are 15 changes from last season in the 2024 Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division Team of the Year Keilor's Mick McGuane was again selected by his peers as the Coach of the Team of the Year after another incredible season with East Keilor ruck and reigning another star that boasted unanimous selection and starts at centre half back retaining his spot in the backline with fellow key defenders Lachie Stredwick (Pascoe Vale) and Brad Xavier (Keilor) There will be plenty of drive out of the defensive half with the three best rebounding defenders in the competition entering the side in Dylan Laurie (Essendon Doutta Stars) All six forwards are different from last year's side with league leading goal kicker Luca Muratore (Airport West) unanimously selected Ahmed Saad enjoyed a strong first season in red and black with 46 regular season goals to start Forfar UK beverages group AG Barr intends to scrap bottled water brand Strathmore The brand is to be discontinued later in its 2025/26 financial year an AG Barr spokesperson said the brand had “struggled to compete” in recent years They noted the move to cease producing Strathmore could result in the closure of its manufacturing site in Forfar in Scotland “We believe we have now reached a point where the Forfar site is no longer sustainable,” the spokesperson said They added: “The proposals are subject to consultation and we intend to fully support our employees through this period of change.” The move was announced alongside the release of AG Barr’s latest results for its 2024/25 fiscal year said “current trading is in line with our expectations” and kept its annual outlook for the financial year 2025/26 “unchanged” forecasting continued revenue growth and margin improvement The scrapping of the Strathmore brand follows an “organisational simplification” of the business which the company said was announced to staff in February The move sees the integration of Barr Soft Drinks and the Funkin cocktails businesses into a “unified AG Barr operation streamlining activities and fostering synergies”.   In March last year, the business announced a round of redundancies affecting 160 roles as part of a shift from a direct-to-store delivery model to “an enlarged confident that successful execution of our plans will see another year of positive progress towards our long-term goals.”  By John Watson Local Journalism Initiative Reporter Stéphane Herbert will begin a cross-Canada cycling journey in order to raise awareness about organ donation and raise funds for the Maison des Greffés Lina Cyr (Lina Cyr Transplant House) I want to prove to everyone that life can go forward and continue happily and I am up to that challenge,” said Herbert.  The route will span from Vancouver to Montreal aiming to be completed in approximately 34 days the distance covered will equate to over 4,000 kilometers This will see Herbert travelling over 140 kilometers on a daily basis there are over 4,500 patients waiting for organ transplants over 250 people die while awaiting an organ donor.  The Maison des Greffés Lina Cyr is a non-profit organization which has provided support for over 43,000 transplant patients since its opening in 1994.  Herbert said he has previously completed cycling rides across Quebec but has yet to attempt a feat of this distance.  “The goal is to raise around $30,000 for the Maison des Greffés Lina Cyr I was in contact already with them for this endeavor,” he said “I am more excited than nervous about the journey I hope that people can follow me and encourage me in this journey.” Support provided by the Transplant House to patients ranges both from those awaiting organs as well as for those who are recovering post-surgery less than 25 per cent of Canadians are registered as organ donors.  One organ donor can save up to eight lives Tissue and eye donors may be able to improve the lives of up to 75 more For those who are suffering from severe chronic kidney disease their quality of life and life expectancy can improve dramatically if they are able to receive a transplant and be treated with dialysis.  Registration as an organ donor varies by province and you do not need to sign a consent form Confirmation of consent may be printed post registration and kept for personal records.  While most donors register consent to donate after they die living organ donors who are the age of majority and who are in good health are able to donate a kidney “Stéphane’s journey not only demonstrates his resilience but also highlights the incredible need for organ donors in Canada,” said Micheline Cyr Asselin executive director of La Maison des Greffés Lina Cyr “Every kilometer he rides brings us closer to saving lives.” Herbert’s journey can be followed on social media channels including Facebook The Calder Cannons his thoughts and the sentiments of the church regarding the Pope’s passing Pope Francis is reported to have died due to a stroke which was indicated in the death certificate released by the Vatican “For a couple of weeks (he) was on death watch there because his condition was so frail but then it seemed even on Sunday (April 20) that he was doing better and was well enough to even come out to St Peter Square and greet 50,000 people,” said Bouvette of the Sacred Heart Parish “We will be having some different types of prayer and celebration … and we have set up a little memorial for him in the parish for people to come and pay a visit and light a candle.” the bishops of Canada invited Pope Francis to Canada for the sake of participating in events meant to foster healing and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples surrounding the experiences of the residential school system His attendance in Canada was to be a show of remorse and as a gesture of respect to demonstrate the church’s closeness to those who have suffered as a consequence of the school system.  Among the Vatican’s protocols for the pope to visit another country is to have a local priest designated to oversee the organization and preparation of the liturgies and rituals that the pope will participate in Bouvette was asked by the bishops of Canada to assume that responsibility and he became the National Liturgical Coordinator for the papal visit to Canada during that time We only had about five months to pull everything together once it was confirmed that he was coming his condition was already rather frail and we noticed that he was cancelling some others of his trips,” said Bouvette “We wondered if he might cancel the one to come to Canada as well but he did not and it demonstrated his highly prioritizing the purpose of that visit.” Despite being a part of the papal entourage and traveling with the pope for the five days he was in Canada Bouvette’s interactions with him were limited parishes throughout the world were to offer a set of nine masses over nine consecutive days for the pope “The whole idea is that the world gathers together around the death of a pope and we pray for him and so we will do our little part in Strathmore as well,” said Bouvette “Then within five to 10 days of the funeral mass there will be convened what is known as the conclave where all of the cardinals of the church … will meet in a series of secret conversations that are confidential and then they will go into a chapel in the Vatican where they will participate in a series of elections until a two thirds majority has been reached.” More information regarding local services in Strathmore is to be delivered through the parish-wide email list and published bulletin The top flight sets the strong relationship that the EDFL has established with the Bank over this decade.” The new deal includes the continued naming rights of the league as well as all three senior men’s divisions as the Bank remains an omnipresence in the EDFL community we believe in the power of sports to inspire communities and bring people together — values that we also believe in as a Community Bank," Bank Being under administration, The Pizza Bar outlets can continue to trade until a debt agreement is worked out with creditors.  The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) had sought to deregister the Strathmore business in June. The business had mixed reviews on Trip Advisor with one customer slamming the service in October last year. 'Food arrived cold from Uber driver - located five minutes from shop,' this man said. 'Called store and could not speak with manager.  'Clearly site doesn't care about food safety with external drivers enforcing heat bags as meals arrived cold.  'Regardless of whether food left cold they could insist that heat bags are used when leaving store and maintained to address.' But another customer left a glowing review in March 2023. 'Friday night take-away was a surprising delight,' she said. 'Ordered online, pick up was efficient and the quality of the pizzas was fantastic.  'We had Ocean Catch and Veggie Delight and couldn't fault them for flavour, quality of toppings and base. Thank you. We'll be back.' After construction, hospitality businesses were the next most common insolvencies in 2023-24, making up 15 per cent of stricken companies, ASIC data showed.  The Reserve Bank's 13 interest rate rises in 2022 and 2023 have caused monthly mortgage repayments to surge, meaning borrowers are cutting back on spending as bank lending is restricted.  National retail trade was flat in July but demand for cafes, restaurants and takeaway food dropped by 0.2 per cent, Australian Bureau of Statistics data showed.  Major terror attack 'was just HOURS away' before it was foiled by the special forces and police:... The turbine produces more than 2 million kilowatt-hours of energy in a typical year. The Strathmore mill complex is a former paper mill along the Connecticut River that was constructed in 1874 and expanded on through 1970. The mill ceased manufacturing in 1994. A 2007 fire, determined to be arson, destroyed Building 10 and damaged two other buildings. Montague acquired the site for redevelopment in February 2010, but due to the complex’s deteriorating nature and presence of contaminants in the buildings, the town must demolish it before any work can be done. It’s a chance to expand your reading horizons and make meaningful connections within your community all while enjoying a unique after-hours experience Mark your calendars for the first session on July 9th!  The Strathmore United Church hosted its annual Vintage and Treasure Sale with all of the proceeds going towards local charities In addition to the vintage and treasure sale occupying the basement of the church a bake sale and quilting table were also present throughout the course of the event a member of the church responsible for hosting the sale explained the sale was born out of a previous thrift sale where antiques were not being priced with any value to them and other articles which had a degree of value in them They are having to clean out their cupboards they are having to give up things that they have probably saved their money to buy … and so when they are bringing all this stuff into the thrift sale in boxes that might look like junk to a lot of the younger people,” said Watson As Watson’s sales began to contribute more and more to thrifting events over time more and more space was required to lay out the items being accumulated Items which are not moved during one sale are generally kept safely in storage until the following year’s vintage sale rolls around Watson put the idea out to include a quilt sale and bake sale as part of the overall event as opposed to just having the vintage and treasure sale as a standalone “This sale is not about supporting our church None of this money goes into supporting our church All of it goes back out into the community “We just want to make as much as we possibly can so that we can give it back out to the community.” In addition to the monetary values of the sale Watson added another of their goals is simply to find good homes for the items brought to them Currently there are no plans to hold a vintage and treasure sale at the church more than once a year nor are there plans to hold it for longer than as a two-day event.  Linda Freeman explained the sales are simply to be able to continue affording fabric for the club who meet on Wednesdays A more typical practice of the club is to give away the quilts they create Freeman added if anyone wishes to donate fabric to the club They are seeking cotton-based fabrics that do not stretch the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda held a one of kind performance Originally planned for early May at an arts center in Alexandria the concert held there had been cancelled by President Trump’s Executive Order barring all government support of “diversity events” The orchestra assembled was chosen through a contest sponsored by the U.S Marine Band and an organization called Equity Arc Twenty-two music students from around the country joined former band members from every branch of the military to play works by John Phillip Sousa The concert was originally billed as the “Equity Arc Wind Symphony” It was an expansion of Equity Arc’s national programs for pre-college musicians of color The CBS program “60 Minutes” paid for the students’ transportation to the Music Center. To watch their story click here From edition: April 23 2025 Strathmore Times Wheatland Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) are hosting their biannual Senior Power event which will kick off Senior’s Week this year.  alternating with FCSS’s women’s conference the Senior Power event aims to showcase resources available and current information relevant to local seniors which may be of interest.  “Senior Power is hosted in Strathmore by various partner agencies and it is a conference that has been held for many years designed for our 55+ population,” said Crystal Gaudet “The Senior Power event allows the seniors to get together and network We provide them with speakers who come in and talk to them and provide them information about topics directly related to their lifestyle.” Topics which will be discussed at this year’s conference include natural remedies and healthy maturing from an Indigenous perspective The Hope Community Covenant Church will also be utilized as a host space for local vendors providing information on senior-specific topics and services or selling goods directly related to seniors.  Gaudet said the senior’s conference has been a bi-annual event in Strathmore since the early 1990s “Our planning committee gets together and we reach out to local community partners so that we can try to stay as local as possible Our seniors have told us they want to see people who know their situations who understand where they live because it is so rural out here,” said Gaudet this year actually reached out to me looking to provide information to local teens and seniors regarding fraud prevention and she just emailed me at the right time; we were looking for some speakers for this conference.” Gaudet added seniors are currently a vulnerable demographic when it comes to online scams thus it is important to increase awareness about how to identify fraud and prevent it.  there is no particular theme associated with the event rather it is simply a conglomeration of information to be made available to local seniors.  The one-day event will be operating from 8:30 a.m or at the Vault Cultural Collective.  FCSS is also currently still seeking both sponsors and vendors to be a part of the event Information about how to participate is available through the in-person office as well as online through the FCSS website The Senior Power event is not technically part of or associated with efforts related to Senior’s Week the event was decidedly scheduled at a similar time EDFL football returns to Windy Hill for the annual King’s Birthday blockbuster between Aberfeldie and Strathmore The two sides are evenly poised heading into this contest with five wins and two losses each a marginal percentage buffer for Strathmore the only difference The old rivals have played in some thrilling contests over the years with the last time these sides met resulting in a draw this fixture in 2022 ended in a one-point Aberfeldie triumph the extra time grand final which saw Strathmore hoist the premiership cup Strathmore did manage to win this fixture by 33 points last year which was reflective of the nature of their respective seasons but both sides enter different-looking outfits Karl Brown has enjoyed a strong return this season but is out of the Aberfeldie lineup after succumbing to what looks to be a season-ending injury Utility Max Simpson will also miss the contest alongside Jai Bahnert Ronke has been at the forefront of the ball-winning ability Aberfeldie has shown this season currently ranked fourth in the league for contested possessions (15.7 per game) in a two blues side ranked third Clay Illman has utilised Ronke in both the midfield and up forward with 15 goals coming off his boot but it’ll be interesting to see what kind of split he decides on with no Brown up forward and stars in the engine room unit for the Mores That unit will be without Harry Jones for tomorrow with Kyle Weightman and Daniel Mammoliti also out for Strathmore Jones has added extra grunt in the middle leading the clearance averages for a Strathmore side ranked last in that area While Aberfeldie aren’t much better in clearance work ruck Nick Owens has faced a big task in stepping up for Andrew Vavra who has been absent from Strathmore and will face another big task against the number one hit out player in the competition in Josh Hotchkin With Abers not maximising that dominance from the tap (ranked eighth in clearances) it opens the door for the highly decorated Adam Iacobucci and prized recruit Trent Dumont to cancel that aerial advantage Strathmore mightn’t win the contested footy as much as the next side (ranked last) but they take care of the footy as well as any side and with Abers ranked second last for tackles the Mores will be looking to slice through the two blues defence in open play With the likes of Brodie Newman and Liam Cavanagh intercepting at either end Nic Cattapan and Luke Jarrad orchestrating out of their defensive halves
