Live-action animated film starring John Cena and Will Forte will hit cinemas in 2026
after it was controversially shelved in favour of a $30m tax write-down
The film Coyote vs Acme, which stars John Cena and Will Forte acting alongside beloved Looney Tunes cartoon characters, will finally be released to the public, almost two years after the completed film was shelved by Warner Bros as part of a tax write-off
Ketchup Entertainment announced on Monday that it acquired worldwide distribution rights to the live-action animated film for an undisclosed sum. Deadline reported the deal was “pegged in the $50m range and the film is expected to get a theatrical release in 2026”
The deal gives new life to one of the three fully completed films that Warner Bros elected to take a tax write-off on, rather than release. The film is estimated to have cost $72m to produce, but shelving it allowed Warner Bros to take an estimated $30m tax write-down.
Read moreAt the time, Warner Bros called the decision “difficult” and thanked the cast and crew for their work. But the tactic, which followed a change in leadership at Warner Bros after the outbreak of Covid-19, also resulted in an almost completed $90m Batgirl film and an animated Scooby Doo film being shelved
decisions that were widely disparaged by creatives and fans alike
The film’s star, Forte, called the decision “fucking bullshit”, saying in an interview in February: “It is such a delightful movie
It deserves so much better … it makes my blood boil and thank you for asking me about it because I like talking about the movie.”
Oscar-winning film-makers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller saw a screening and described the film as “funny, charming, good physical comedy timing, with a surprising amount of heart”. “I hope several studios go after it so the world can see all the good work people did,” Miller tweeted
Writer-director Brian Duffield also tweeted at the time: “I have seen this movie and it is excellent
The people working at Warner Bros are anti-art and I hope multiple anvils drop on their heads.”
Directed by Dave Green and based on a 1990 New Yorker article by Ian Frazier
Coyote vs Acme follows Wile E Coyote in a lawsuit against Acme Corporation for the many faulty products that failed to catch him the Road Runner
Forte plays Wile E Coyote’s “billboard lawyer” Kevin Avery

The film was reportedly test-screened to positive responses before Warner Bros shelved it, with Deadline reporting at the time that it had scored 14 points above the norm for a family movie
said the company was “thrilled” by the new deal
calling Coyote vs Acme “a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling

Chad Warner has revealed how a phone call from his manager on the eve of the 2019 AFL Draft suggested he could have landed at either the Sydney Swans or GWS.
Warner, who was taken with pick no.39 at the National Draft, has enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom in recent years, cementing himself as one of the premier players in the competition.
As the 23-year-old prepares for Sydney Derby XXX on Sunday, the electric midfielder revealed he was preparing to be drafted by one of the Sydney clubs all those years ago.
"I think getting drafted is one of the better memories you have - that is probably the best day of your life at the time," Warner said on More than Footy.
"I actually thought it (the Draft selection) was going to be later, but the day before my manager called me and said it could be 'either' of the Sydney teams, actually."
Chad Warner stopped by to chat through all things his contract decision, relationship with his teammates and Dean Cox, and how a phone call on Draft Night suggested he could land at 'either' Sydney team.
Warner made his debut in Round 6 of the 2020 season against Richmond, and has since played in two Grand Finals and earned a maiden All Australian jumper in 2024.
Such was the magnitude of his contract speculation, Warner said he embraced the media interest, and spoke of a conversation with CEO Tom Harley that ultimately made his decision clear.
"I probably was right on the fence of what I wanted to do (earlier in the year), so I needed a genuine bit of time to make the decision," Warner said.
"That Fremantle game (in Round 2) was when I was leaning this way (to re-sign) a bit more. Then when I came back from Perth I saw Tom Harley and after speaking to him - that was the moment.

"The faith they showed by doing that and how quick they got onto things was a big one for me."
While Warner had comfort in his decision and is grateful for the club's commitment to him and his family
he lauded the response from his teammates and the love they showed when the announcement was made
"I was stoked to see the players were happy...but I was just very proud that I have been able to gain these great friendships that I have over the years," Warner said
"To have people that do care about you so much
that was the thing I was very happy about"

the midfielder offered up his temptation of coming home and that he was heavily weighing up a return to Western Australia
Warner didn't just leave the door ajar to a trade – he yanked it back open
But in truth, as AFL.com.au had reported that week, the brilliant midfielder had by then decided Sydney was where he wanted to be – at least for two more years through to the end of 2027.
having met multiple times with Warner over the past 18 months

It has been a stuttering campaign for the Kings, who brought Warner in as their marquee signing and appointed him captain. The Kings are looking to revert a slide that has seen them eliminated before reaching the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. There have been improvements this season with the Kings squarely within the playoffs places, but they have alternated wins and losses with three of each in their first six games.
Part of that has been down to a bowling attack that has occasionally been exceptionally effective, as it was at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday. "We will look at the positives with our bowling unit," Warner said. "They've been exceptional last few games and couldn't be any prouder of the way that they've executed, especially in the powerplay.
"I thought the wicket was fantastic. I don't think 142 and 137 [reflects] the wicket at all. I think it's a 170-180 wicket. To bowl them out for 142 was exceptional."
Warner called on his team to replicate what he feels they have done across the tournament so far, even in games they have come up short in. "It's about assessing what we are doing well," he said. "Batting-wise, it's simple in that we weren't positive. The last few games when we've won games, we've been very, very positive. Even when we've lost, we've been positive, so we need to look at where we're missing the mark a little bit."
Karachi Kings now have four days off before they play again on May 1, against Multan Sultans, who are currently bottom of the table with one win and four losses.
Chad Warner appeared in a press conference on Thursday, April 24 after it was confirmed he recommitted to the Sydney Swans on a two-year contract extension. Hear from the star midfielder as he discusses his decision to remain in the harbour city.
"Think as like anyone going through this process, they'd always have that pull and there was a big part of me that kind of did want to go back, but then I think the part of me that wanted to stay here was even bigger and I think that overweighed in the end and I'm very excited and happy about my decision."
On if there was a moment he decided to stay in Sydney
"I've always said the whole time, I was pretty 50-50, to be honest, and then when we kind of went back, played Freo and I had about a week there in Perth, I think when I came back here, that was the moment. I came back and told the club that I want to go ahead with it and start working on it with them and yeah, I think from there, it took a little while, but we got there in the end."
Chad Warner chats to the media following the announcement of his two-year contract extension.
"I told Errol first and he gave me a nice FaceTime - he was very proud. I think I'm so proud of, I guess, where both of us are too as well in our careers and to be able to have such a great friendship, that's something I'll hold forever to."
"Yeah, it's great, I mean, to have something so rare happen and to both be so valued at a club is such a special thing. I think mum and dad are pretty happy about it too, to be together and, yeah, hopefully a few more pre-season fights to come."

On what he likes about Sydney off the field
"It's great, just the lifestyle, to be honest, I think the beaches, obviously, the weather. I think having a lot of nice restaurants here that you can go and try out, I think all of us boys love doing that a fair bit too and the golf courses, that's probably the main thing, a lot better golf courses over here as well."
On what the re-signing of key players says about the club's culture
"They were just real supportive, everyone was really supportive of the situation I was in and, I guess, the options that I had and no one kind of ever tried to push you one way or the other. They were always just there to have a chat, always there if I needed help and, at the end of the day, they wanted me to do what was best for me and this is what's best for me."

The one thing that I do know the most is that I love playing with these boys and love playing in Sydney so I don't want to make the wrong decision either way
"I'm just playing the year and seeing how it goes."
New Sydney coach Dean Cox said the Swans are prepared for the "noise" that comes with Warner's contract situation
with Cox taking a hands-on approach to keeping the star midfielder
who has helped steer Warner into one of the most damaging midfielders in the game as the previous midfield coach at Sydney
steps into the senior role intent on being in constant communication with the 23-year-old about his contract call
"I've been Chad's line coach ever since he got to the footy club and I'm close with Chad having the WA connection
I've done that move and with all the interstate boys I try to make it as easy as possible," Cox told AFL.com.au
"The dialogue is constant between Chad and myself
I want Chad to play his best footy this year
What I can control is the team we put around Chad and that's still challenging Chad to be the best Sydney Swans player he can be this year
we'll continually have the dialogue about what happens going forward
He knows how much I want him to stay at the Swans but I am also a realist
People's contracts and the calibre of player create a lot more noise and we'll manage that throughout the process and both parties are aware of that."
Warner is out of contract but two years away from free agency so any move would require a trade
As Warner is courted by the Dockers and also the Eagles
who now have former Swans assistant Don Pyke as their chief executive
Cox said he understood Warner being in rivals' sights and wasn't concerned by the gamebreaker weighing his options
"You need to realise that happens in football
it's about trying to make sure Chad sees this football club as the place to be in the short or long-term
a team and an environment that he sees he can play his best footy in and also to be a part of a successful footy team," he said
is no stranger to knowing the game's best midfielders well
Apart from the Sydney engine room that has powered the club to two grand finals in the past three years
the champion West Coast ruckman formed a brilliant quartet with midfield trio Chris Judd
Ben Cousins and Daniel Kerr in their 2006 flag triumph
He stopped short of putting Warner on Judd's level but said his explosiveness was as good as any
with Warner also kicking 35 goals last year from his 25 games
Most people see the explosiveness and what he can do
but not the time he puts into his game and the way he prepares
He goes back to WA or he goes overseas in off-seasons and comes back in amazing condition," he said
"His attention to detail is really high and Chris was the same
I'm one who doesn't really compare players and eras but the ability for Chad to go inside to out

Cox also nominated Warner's younger brother
as one of the less experienced Swans to have shown his ability over summer
it was Cox who broke up the Warner brothers from a short scuffle
The new coach was pictured standing between the pair to diffuse the situation
"I was walking over to the boundary line and it happened just in front of me
A picture can paint a thousand words and it did within two seconds," he said
"They were around for dinner the following week so it was like 'All right
do we need to do anything here?' As soon as it went from a free kick to a stoppage
they were high fiving and cuddling each other straight away
Warner said Cox had maintained a strong bond with the playing group as he steps up into the senior role
"I've obviously been with him for a while now as the assistant coach at Sydney
He's been a great mate to all the boys for a while and I think it's great he's been able to keep that but also gain the respect as a head coach

BROTHERS Chad and Corey Warner had to be separated by new coach Dean Cox during a high-octane match simulation at Sydney training on Friday
took exception to some heavy contact from Chad
Cox happened to be close by and helped seperate the pair before play continued
The incident lasted no more than two seconds and the brothers were spotted having a laugh together at three-quarter time
with seemingly no bad blood between the pair
The boys' mother, Anita, responded to the AFL's Instagram post about the incident with a face palm emoji, to which Chad replied with a laughing emoji.

with Joel Hamling - who played forward in the VFL last year - playing in defence
The Warner brothers' incident is the latest in a long line of teammate v teammate scuffles
Almost two years ago to the day, Essendon teammates Jake Stringer and Mason Redman came together as tensions boiled over at Bombers training
In 2020, Kyle Hartigan threw several punches at then Adelaide teammate Billy Frampton while the pair were playing on opposing sides of an intraclub match at West Lakes

Aussie rising star Georgia Voll earns a big payday at Hundred draft while David Warner joins the Lord's-based London Spirit
David Warner is going back to Lord's as the star signing for the London Spirit team in The Hundred at the age of 38
after being snapped up by the Lord's-based Spirit for GBP120,000 (A$246,000) in Wednesday's draft
After his retirement from the international arena
the evergreen left-hander's recruitment demonstrated his enduring star power as a host of the big names in the current Australia white-ball team were overlooked
Australia is expected to be in action in home white-ball internationals against South Africa in August
according to the ICC's Future Tours Program
with a schedule announcement expected in coming weeks
The likely international commitments meant there were no takers for superstar allrounder Glenn Maxwell
the country's top white-ball spinner Adam Zampa
all of whom were at the recent Champions Trophy and were in the same price bracket as Warner
Georgia Voll A$133,000 (Birmingham Phoenix)
Ashton Turner A$106,000 (both London Spirit)
Jason Behrendorff A$129,000 (Oval Invincibles)
Warner's signing was the big news of the draft for August's tournament
even if it was perhaps somewhat of a surprise after no teams showed interest in 2024
Yet he's clearly considered a valuable asset by Spirit's incoming coach Justin Langer
another former left-hand opener who was close to Warner when in charge of the national team set-up
Warner will be returning to the dramatic scene of the 2023 Ashes Test match at Lord's when he was involved in the infamous lunchtime bust-up with Marylebone Cricket Club members in the Long Room following the controversy surrounding Alex Carey's stumping of Jonny Bairstow
The MCC ended up expelling one member and suspending two others after their altercation with Usman Khawaja and Warner amid unprecedented scenes after the anger sparked over the Carey-Bairstow incident
The members were all found to have used "abusive
offensive or inappropriate behaviour or language"
with one member given a four-and-a-half-year suspension and the other serving 30 months
Australia captain Alyssa Healy went undrafted while the first player to be snapped up – by Edgbaston-based Birmingham Phoenix – was her 21-year-old compatriot Georgia Voll
who's been brilliant filling in as opener while the national captain has been out injured
Voll's elevation to the top women's bracket of GBP65,000 (A$134,000) comes after a spectacular spell at the Women's Premier League in India where
after a late call-up by UP Warriorz as an injury replacement
she equalled the highest score in WPL history with 99 not out
The other Aussie men snapped up in the draft were Perth Scorchers' Ashton Turner
Sydney Thunder allrounder Chris Green and Hobart Hurricanes paceman Riley Meredith
and new Melbourne Renegades signing Jason Behrendorff
the left-arm quick who'll boost Oval Invincibles' title defence
Other Australian stars who had already been signed up for the competition include Steve Smith at Welsh Fire and Ellyse Perry

David Warner has officially been announced as Sydney Thunder captain as the Western Sydney club heads into the highly anticipated KFC BBL|14 season
This milestone follows the Cricket Australia Conduct Commission’s recent decision to lift Warner’s leadership ban
which was reviewed and cleared by an independent Review Panel
deeming Warner eligible for future leadership roles
Warner’s return as captain marks the beginning of a new chapter for Thunder
as the seasoned global superstar brings both experience and motivation to a dynamic lineup
Having been the foundation captain for Thunder
Warner expressed excitement about the role and a commitment to shaping the team’s next generation
“Captaining the Thunder again this season means a lot to me
and now to be back with that ‘C’ next to my name feels fantastic
I’m looking forward to leading from the front and sharing my experience with the young talent coming through.”
Warner also emphasised the importance of building connections off the field:
“Leadership off the field is just as crucial
I want to create an environment where we can all take a break from the game
out on the golf course or engaging with our fans in Western Sydney
it’s all about building camaraderie and staying grounded.”
Warner acknowledged the impact of former leaders on the team:
“I want to compliment the way Greeny (Chris Green) led from the front
He’s an exceptional talent with fantastic leadership qualities
and I know they’re guys I can lean on this season.”
Tickets for the upcoming KFC BBL|14 season are now on sale! Grab your tickets: HERE
With a squad that blends fresh talent and seasoned players
Warner is excited to take on the mentorship role:
“One of the most exciting parts of this role is the chance to give back to the younger players
to pass on some of the knowledge I’ve gathered over the years
one of these young guns can step up and lead the team when I’m done
“We have an incredible group of young players like Ollie Davies
They’re fearless and have so much potential
and ultimately give them the tools to thrive both in the BBL and beyond.”
Family remains a core motivation for Warner’s commitment to the game:
“My daughters are a big reason I wanted to keep playing
and being able to play on the big stage in front of them is something special."
said Warner’s appointment was huge for the club
"Appointing David Warner as captain isn’t just about winning
it’s about setting up our young players for success
surrounding them with leadership on and off the field
"In bringing in leaders like David and Sam Billings for the full season
from start to finish alongside Chris Green
we’re building a foundation that empowers our young talent to learn and thrive
has done a fantastic job as captain of Sydney Thunder
he's an absolute fan favourite and a core member of the team moving forward
who's essential to our success on the field.”
Copeland said Warner could create a legacy for the club and himself that lasts well beyond his playing days
"This is a huge moment for David and for our club
It’s not only about his career; it’s about the legacy he’s creating
especially for his family and the next generation of players
"For the fans in Western Sydney who’ve long recognised David as a Thunder legend
it’s a special moment to now see him as their captain
"This captaincy is about more than cricket; it’s about community
and helping our younger players gain the skills they need to succeed."
Thunder kick off their season in Canberra on December 17 when they take on the Adelaide Strikers
There’s a rising trend of prominent businesses being sued for using music in TikTok and Instagram posts without permission
Warner Music Group has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against US shoe retailer DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse and parent company Designer Brands Inc
accusing DSW of having “misappropriated over two hundred” of Warner’s recordings and compositions in TikTok and Instagram posts and via paid partnerships with social media influencers
Warner is seeking statutory damages up to the maximum amount of $150,000 per infringed musical work
With DSW alleged to have infringed over 200 tracks
the damages sought could exceed $30 million
DSW is described in the lawsuit as “one of North America’s largest designers
producers and retailers of footwear and accessories”
Warner’s complaint notes that “during its 55-year history
DSW has repeatedly licensed music for promoting its brand and products in television commercials” and that DSW has also “licensed music for its commercials from WMG in the past”
DSW allegedly infringed 200+ “popular and valuable musical works” in social media posts by “using these musical works to attract attention to the DSW Videos
and build DSW’s brand awareness and profile”
Among the works alleged to have been infringed by DSW are what WMG calls “some of the most popular sound recordings and musical compositions in the world”
Warner claims that DSW used tracks such as Up by Cardi B
and Work it by Missy Elliot in social media posts without a license
“‘DSW not only failed to pay for the use of Plaintiffs’ Works
but by including these musical works in their promotional materials without Plaintiffs’ consent
DSW deprived Plaintiffs and the recording artists and songwriters that Plaintiffs represent of the ability to control how and where their musical works are used,” the lawsuit stated
According to the lawsuit, which you can read in full here
has shifted much of its marketing focus from traditional advertising to promoting its products through social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok
as well as via paid partnerships with well-known social media ‘influencers’.”
The lawsuit continues: “Broadly speaking
an ‘influencer’ is a person with a large social media following whose reputation and credibility enables them to influence consumers’ purchasing decisions or brand awareness
“Knowing that popular music is the best way to capture the attention of its targeted audience
DSW and its social media influencers have incorporated many of Plaintiffs’ most valuable musical works into marketing and advertising videos for DSW’s products
“These videos … are an integral part of DSW’s promotional
DSW distributes the DSW Videos to the public via the various accounts that it maintains on a variety of social media platforms.”
Warner’s complaint argues that even though DSW “is a sophisticated party that has extensive experience with music licensing,” the company “and its influencer partners have failed to seek permission or pay for the use of the sound recordings and musical compositions that are featured in the DSW Videos”
The lawsuit is the latest involving a prominent music company taking legal action over unauthorized use of music in social media posts
In another recent case, Sony Music sued the University of Southern California
alleging the school repeatedly and willfully used unauthorized copyrighted music in its social media posts

Thunder didn't just collect the wooden spoon in the previous season
they snatched it with eagle-like precision in a miserable one-win campaign
On Monday night, they tackle Hobart Hurricanes with a golden chance to add to the club's one title that was won by Jacques Kallis
Warner was on Thunder's books the past two seasons
memorably arriving for an SCG derby via helicopter after his brother's wedding in the Hunter Valley
but a bit-part player because of national-team commitments
the 38-year-old has been the face of the franchise and the BBL
after Cricket Australia overturned his leadership ban emanating from the ball-tampering scandal
scored a league-best 357 runs and looked a man on a mission at every turn
"He puts bums on seats and I'm convinced he is still the best player in the tournament by a country mile," Thunder star Sam Billings said
but you can see why he's been one of the best players in the last 15 years in this format
But the way he thinks about the game as well
And his attitude with getting in the game and that energy
everyone who steps out onto the field with him
The return of Billings, who produced a match-winning knock in Friday night's derby Challenger final
and other roster rejigs from new general manager Trent Copeland have helped fuel the turnaround
and the knock-on effects throughout Thunder's squad
have been profound during an injury crisis
Jason Sangha, who captained Thunder when they were bowled out for a record low of 15 in 2022-23
Sangha first picked Warner's brain while playing grade cricket together in 2018-19
when the latter had a full summer with Randwick Petersham during his year-long ban from international and domestic cricket
Sangha made a seamless return from injury in a 29-run opening stand with Warner
he's always helping us get better," Sangha told AAP
"It's pretty cool getting to go out there and bat with someone like him
"I remember I had a Kaboom when I was young
So it's great seeing Davey go about his business and just learn a lot
Warner's men have won consecutive knock-out finals
with different players stepping up at key moments in both matches
"He's been encouraging everyone - whether it's bat
ball or field - to always be brave," Sangha said
He does some different things and he's quite aggressive
takes risks and it just rubs off on the rest of the group."
David Warner took a dig at Shaheen Afridi for his faulty pitch reading after Karachi Kings’ victory over Lahore Qalandars last night
Warner-led Karachi defeated the Qalandars by four wickets with three balls to spare
the broadcaster asked whether he would revisit his decision to play with more pacers
That’s when Warner talked about how he backed his strength
pointing out how Shaheen was wrong with his assessment
Shaheen said it was gonna turn; not one ball has turned on the three games here
and that’s the way our team is positioned at the moment.”
Warner cooking Shaheen and LQ 🤣 pic.twitter.com/vvDRZsqJSg
While Karachi Kings went for only a solitary spinner
Lahore Qalandars fielded as many as three spinners – Asif Afridi
The move didn’t work for the Qalandars
as their three tweakers conceded 10.71 runs per over in seven sets while taking only two wickets
proving Warner’s decision to field more pacers correct
Karachi Kings required 48 runs to win in their final three overs, but a carnage of the highest order followed. Irfan Khan unleashed his true range
but Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf also bowled poorly to let him score freely
as Irfan hit as many as three maximums to bring the required rate down
with Irfan Khan and Mohammad Nabi bringing the equation in Karachi’s favour
Irfan Khan finished the chase with a six with three balls to spare to hand an unwanted defeat to Lahore Qalandars
This was their fourth defeat of the season
and Karachi climbed to third on the points table with this win
Despite having two of the best bowlers in the country
Lahore Qalandars couldn’t defend a big total
they can still qualify for the next round and must win their final league-stage game against Peshawar Zalmi

David Warner has been cleared to again hold leadership positions in Australian cricket ahead of featuring in BBL|14
David Warner is eligible to take on leadership roles with his BBL club Sydney Thunder after having the lifetime ban imposed on him in the wake of the 2018 sandpaper scandal modified by an independent panel
who retired from first-class and international limited-overs cricket earlier this year
appeared before a three-member panel earlier this month and successfully presented his case to have the terms of the original sanction amended
Jeff Gleeson KC and Jane Seawright – found unanimously that Warner had met all criteria to have the 2018 ban lifted with that decision effective immediately
"The respectful and contrite tone of his (Warner’s) responses
as well as the content impressed the Review Panel and led it to the unanimous view that he was sincere and genuine in acknowledging responsibility for the conduct and in his statement that he had extreme remorse for his conduct," the panel says in its decision published today
Read the Review Panel's decision in full here
"Mr Warner’s conduct and behaviour since the imposition of the sanction has been excellent and he appears to have made a substantial change
one example of which is that he no longer sledges or tries to provoke the opposing team
"The Review Panel is more than satisfied that Mr Warner will not engage in any conduct similar to that which occurred in 2018 which resulted in the sanction and that the sanction has thus had the relevant quality of specific deterrence."
The panel agreed with Warner's submission the sanction imposed six and a half years ago had "achieved its purpose"
Cricket Australia did not oppose the former Test opener's challenge to the ban imposed following events in Cape Town
and confirmed he is now eligible to take on leadership positions in all Australian cricket competitions
"In 2022 we updated the Code of Conduct to ensure there was a fair and rigorous process in place for all players and player support personnel to have long-term sanctions reviewed," Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer Nick Hockley said today
"I am pleased David has chosen to have his sanction reviewed and that he will be eligible to take up leadership positions in Australian Cricket this summer."
who was vice-captain of Australia's Test team at the time of the sandpaper incident
had previously led his BBL outfit Sydney Thunder where he is a contracted player for BBL|14
Warner was accompanied at last month's hearing by Thunder general manager and long-time New South Wales and Australia teammate Trent Copeland
In addition to verbal support from Copeland and Cricket NSW's Hannah Barnes
the review panel was provided with written references from current Test skipper Pat Cummins and coach Andrew McDonald
ex-Test captain Greg Chappell and former women's skipper and Federation of International Cricketers' Association president Lisa Sthalekar
It also received two letters of support from current New Zealand Test batter Kane Williamson who played alongside Warner at Sunrisers Hyderabad
the franchise Warner captained to the Indian Premier League title in 2016
how he carries himself," Copeland told the panel according to transcript published today
"It’s had a profound impact on him and certain behaviours
other things that might come naturally to professional cricket
there’s been a real line in the sand that that just does not appear anymore with David Warner on a cricket field."
Despite his successful captaincy record in the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad and more recently Delhi Capitals
Warner's only appearance as skipper of Sydney Thunder came in 2011 against Melbourne Stars at the MCG
The Thunder were captained last summer by all-rounder Chris Green who took over from Jason Sangha

Although in hindsight all that dancing and acting inside a phone screen seems to have been a dress-rehearsal for the big screen. Warner is making his debut in Indian movies with a cameo in the new Telugu film Robinhood, releasing this week. In the movie trailer, Warner steps off a helicopter while licking a lollipop.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mythri Movie Makers (@mythriofficial)
At a publicity event for the release, Warner, appearing alongside the stars of the movie, Nithiin and Sreeleela, thanked the filmmakers for giving him the opportunity. "I was nervous to come into your family and your world, because it is foreign, but thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is amazing and I feel privileged and honoured that you guys have all accepted me into your family.
"To the co-stars, you guys, from what I have seen, this movie looks absolutely amazing. So, credit to you guys for your hard work, your work ethics. I am sure this is going to be absolutely massive."
He told the audience that they would "absolutely love this movie" and when urged by the director, Venky Kudumula, to say a few words in Telugu, Warner said: "Ninna Neenu Premisthunnanu" [very roughly translating to "I love you"].
Warner also managed to get himself on a poster as the movie was being teased earlier in the month.

The team doesn't mention it but the player Australia has badly missed is the ultra-aggressive opener David Warner
Australia were without a top-order batter who could disrupt the opposition with his strokeplay and make opposition bowlers think differently. Well, on Boxing Day they found such a player in vibrant young opener Sam Konstas
He not only disrupted India and gave Jasprit Bumrah something to seriously ponder
In the endVirat Kohli succumbed and resorted to a physical approach
This is not the answer; cricket isn't a physical game - it requires skill and thought
Konstas' strategy was sound: shift some of the catching fielders and don't allow good bowlers to operate the way they want to
It was his execution that was so different from Warner's
and it remains to be seen if his is a viable long-term method
It certainly worked on Boxing Day but India will have noted that whenever Konstas played traditional cricket shots
Will this mean that in future India tries to force Konstas to play more normal cricket shots
This is how the battle plays out in Test cricket: a player arrives
then it's up to the opposition bowlers to re-assess
it's the batter who has to make an adjustment
This is an ongoing process until one gains the upper hand
Apart from creating an immediate cult following
Konstas made life simpler for his fellow batters
Konstas' outrageous blitz on the Indian new-ball bowlers allowed Australia to burst out of the gates and put themselves in a strong position
In his own way Konstas caused India to slip into the mentality of feeling sorry for themselves about the opposition playing and missing and edges falling short of the cordon. It wasn't until late in the day when the batting took on a more normal approach that Bumrah began to exert some control over the Australian team again
In the build-up, Konstas' statistical likeness to Ricky Ponting (twin centuries in a Shield game) was noted
Normally a statistical likeness with one of Australia's best batters places a heavy burden on the newcomer
Konstas made light of any debutant pressure
The burden will come later when - not if - he fails
It's then that his method will be questioned rather than admired
How Konstas reacts will decide whether he has the courage and skill to disregard the doubters
What Konstas' gregarious attitude did do was energise Steve Smith, who rediscovered his old self and began to play with more freedom. Smith's strokeplay and skipper Pat Cummins' determination put Australia on the path to a big total
With Australia dominating the must-win Test
It was then that the confident Yashasvi Jaiswal made it the story of two brash young openers, as he instituted his own form of disruption. Playing with flair, scintillating strokes and assurance, Jaiswal, with solid assistance from a determined Kohli
Just when it looked as though India were mounting a serious challenge
Jaiswal went and spoiled it all by saying "yes"
The inexcusable mix-up that followed resulted in him being needlessly run-out
lost concentration and his dismissal meant India were in big trouble
The talented young openers from each side played their part in giving this Test a sense of drama but Konstas was better supported by his more experienced team-mates
Now it remains to be seen if India can regroup and provide the fight needed to keep Australia at bay
India will require all the resolve they can muster
as the result of this Test could well decide the destination of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Mark Warner tells CNN's Jake Tapper that "I'm still flying in and out" of Reagan National Airport
but "I have got a lot of constituents now who say I'm just not sure I'm going to be willing to fly out of Reagan."

Sydney Thunder coach Trevor Bayliss doesn’t hesitate
nor need a leading question when asked the key difference in a finals-bound dressing room
a year on from owning the worst Big Bash record in a decade
“He engages with everyone and out on the field
everyone’s got confidence that he obviously knows the game and the [tactical] moves he’s made have
proactive captains seem to know what’s about to happen and make a fielding change before it happens.”
Redemption arcs abound in Wednesday’s BBL knock-out final
Glenn Maxwell has powered Melbourne Stars’ rise from an 0-5 start
the worst return of any side since the same outfit failed to muster a win in 2012-13

Either way, the never-ending Warner narrative and accompanying spotlight were always good odds of defining the Thunder’s campaign
It started, after all, with the franchise championing an end to his leadership ban that resulted from the 2018 ball-tampering saga
Warner’s tactical nous has rarely been in doubt
His 15-year international career has been accompanied by almost 400 T20 appearances for more than a dozen domestic sides
The other side of captaincy - statesmanship and diplomacy
once regarded as Australia’s “attack dog” in the field
was telling the public exactly what he told reporters on Monday
“I’ve always said to people; ‘if you don’t like me
and I’ll have a beer with you and let you make up your mind for yourself’,” Warner said
but I’ve also got a responsibility to get the guys up and about
There’s times on the field that people play hard
and it’s probably not what people like to see
“I am the person that is in the players’ faces and the cameras are always on me
obnoxious” Warner sits alongside glowing reports of the 38-year-old’s captaincy

English international Sam Billings describes Warner as “the driving force” in the Thunder’s turnaround
And an entirely different proposition to the Warner he expected based on an Ashes rivalry summed up best by he and fellow pantomime villain Stuart Broad
In a summer when Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sims were rubbed out by one of the worst on-field collisions in Australian cricketing memory, and 41-year-old assistant coach Dan Christian has more than helped fill out the Thunder’s XI, the wheels could have fallen off.
Warner has led with 346 runs (second only to Test tourist Cooper Connolly) at an average of 57 and a strike rate of 142.
And one of Australian cricket’s most renowned fighters, to what plenty will always see as a fatal fault, speaks of emphasising fun and entertainment in the Thunder sheds.

“Those date nights with your wife have changed to boys’ nights,” Warner jokes. Poker, PlayStation, golf and bets on fielding drills are his way of bringing a side together.
“Cricket’s about having fun. Yeah, it’s a job, but we look at it like we’re entertaining.
“We’re trying to put bums on seats, we want to put on a show and that’s what the BBL’s about ... so leadership, everyone in the team’s a leader.”
Bayliss, with more than 20 years coaching England, Sri Lanka and numerous T20 outfits, was backed by the Thunder in June with a one-year extension despite last season’s wooden spoon.
Warner’s retirement from white-ball internationals dove-tailed with his vision of getting the best out of both the star opener and a listing lime green roster.
“My original thought of him being captain was to get the best out of him,” Bayliss says.
“We’ve seen guys at whatever level, they retire [from international cricket] and drop down a level to finish off their careers, you need that little bit of a carrot to make sure that you’re performing.
“He’s wanted to be involved with leadership and captaincy in the past and hasn’t been allowed to do that. I thought ‘here’s our opportunity to give him that responsibility show people that he’s a worthy captain’.
“It’s not necessarily that other teams have missed out on that because there’s been other good captains.
“But I think he’s wanted to prove himself in that type of role. And I think this year he has.”
